It has been a busy week on the awards circuit for both Oklahoma players and coaches alike, and that week got even busier Tuesday afternoon when OU offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley was named the winner of the 2015 Broyles Award.

The Broyles Award, as many of you probably know, is presented to the ‘college football’s most outstanding assistant coach.’ Additionally, Riley becomes the youngest coach in award’s history to ever receive the honor.

Very deserving. He’ll be running his own program soon.
Well done. He’s definitely most deserving.
Couldn’t have gone to a better coach.
I think that’s the point of the award /s.
Ya, but some times they get it wrong. See: Heisman. (Ok, Heisman gets it wrong a lot.)
So true. I didn’t expect BM to win it this year but getting snubbed completely should add fuel to the fire. I think you could also point to the latest All-American team. We had a few glaring omissions on that one, too.
Omissions? Who? In place of whom?
Stephen Parker for one. You can’t convince me he isn’t a top 4 safety.
Bummer for OU regents as that contract gets fatter and fatter. I’m sure they don’t mind, great award and deserving.
I suspect our revenue is up more this year than the cost of Riley’s salary. Joe C and Boren know when to have the hand out. I suspect there have been more and more calls to boosters with each big win.
Congrats and well deserved… Now lets pay that man some money and keep him as long as possible
Congrats Lincoln!
I’m on board with making Riley the highest paid assistant coach in the nation. It would have to be around 1.5 million plus. It’s worth it. It might even be worth it if he was paid like a top 25 head coach.
I would not expect Lincoln to get anything close to $1.5 million as Kirby Smart, John Chavis and Cam Cameron were the highest paid assistants nationally at $1.5 and their success has been proven for years not for just a 6 year career with only 1 year at a power 5 school.
I think $1 million is about the top dollar one could possibly expect/hope Lincoln to get which would be $150,000 more than Mike Stoops presently makes and a 100% raise over his current $500,000. Of course if Lincoln were to get $1 million I am sure Mike would get a raise to equal Lincoln’s earning after this years defensive performance.

Let’s win the title and then shell out the big bucks. By the way, save some monopoly money for Cooks, Reynolds, and BB they’ve also done a heck of a job.
Absolutely. All of the assistant coaches really stepped up this year. Will give kudos to Mike, too. Would love to see Bob say “I’ve got enough. Distributing my bonuses to my assistants.”
I think regardless of the playoffs outcome, all the assistants will get a raise or incentives added in. Riley is definitely due for one but you are right all the coaches have done a great job. And we need to give it up to Bob, a lot of people questioned his moves and it looks like he made all the right decisions. I never doubted his decision to keep the defensive coaches. Anyone who watched last season knew the biggest disaster was the offense being incapable.
I honestly would remove Cameron from that list. Has he ever had a successful offense? He was the OC when the Ravens won the super bowl, however he was fired early in the season.
Great fit for OU! Great innovations and adjustments! Let’s hope we have him for a long time.
Congrats to Coach Riley. Well deserved.
We’re gonna need a bigger trophy case.
Didn’t we work this out the other day?
We can borrow from Okie Lite as their’s are empty.
Congrats to Coach Riley and also Congrats to Bob for finding and hiring such a young talent.
Congrats Coach! Well deserved.
That’s a creepy trophy.
Riley needs to take it with him on in-home visits.
Pretty impressive, this is really a big deal for the Sooners and for Stoops.
Boom!
There’s a resume builder. Good for LR and the program.
Boren and Joe C better get the phat check ready soon
Kudos Coach! And thanks for lining us up for #8 as well!
Congrats Lincoln, hope Boren and JoeC have the check book warmed up!
I bet it’s already got the radio on and warmed seats.
Congratulations, Coach Riley.
May you collect some more big honking trophies and a big fat ring soon.
Congratulations Coach Riley
KUDOS Coach Riley – Well Done!
Congrats Coach Riley! I would stick around OU until you win 3 or 4 of those to really build up your resume before you take on a head coaching gig.
Are there any other awards related to former Razorbacks that we can win this year?
Congrats to Linc!! We’re not done…get back in the lab pronto and draw up the gameplan for Clemson!!
In the words of the original “Linc”: Solid.
Yes! But you know BV is going to zone blitz with Blitzes that are designed to stop the inside run…to key is for Perine and Mixon to continue to break one on one tackles and get outside.
Would love to see LR stick around for a few more years. Have a feeling Bob will consider stepping down around year 20. At that time, the Sooner machine could be handed off to LR.
Looking at how things are lining up, that might be the unspoken plan.
I wonder if his nickname or middle name is like Buddy, Barry, Bud, Bobby, Bob, or maybe even starts with and S. Seems we have good luck with those letters, I get a pass of Wilkerson cause his first name starts with a B lol
Charles “Bud” Wilkinson; so you mean his nickname. So just make LR into Bud or Babe or Buster (just NOT Bubba).
Well he does use the air raid, so why not “Bomber”? Lol….I like it anyway: “Bomber Riley” 😉
I would not project Bob leaving OU before in twins graduate high school and they have two more years. To me that means he will be here through at least the 2017 season. I suspect then it will be what kind of condition the program is in. I do not anticipate Stoops leaving the program with a down year projected for his successor.
With 2016 and 2017 projecting as very good years if we can find a QB for 2017 & 2018 I can see Bob hanging them up in 2018 or 2019 especially if he get a CFP championship in 2015 or 2016. 2018 will be his 20th year.
I agree with most of what you said. However, I also don’t see Bob leaving before an expected good year. The man is a competitor, and he won’t pass up a shot for a potential NC run.
Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised to see his kids walk on at OU, in which case, Bob would stay for their full 5 years there. After that, he’d bow out when he has a hand picked, top tier replacement lined up. IMO.
They have LR qb’s in the fold.
How about winning it in 2015 AND 2016? And then one more in 2018 for a Stoops 20th anniversary.
Lincoln Riley is a freakin stud! BOOMER freakin SOONER!
Nice job!
Wow! Great for LR, for our OU football program and for Sooner Nation! Congratulations to Coach Riley. I’m proud and thankful he’s OUrs now and for however long we can hang on to him. Time to make it easy for him to stay $$$$$$ and #8.
1st reaction – Of course he wins it. Outstanding job of melding his offensive scheme to the talent at hand.
Congrats LR!
Hearing Frank Broyles always takes me back to this clip and analysis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?DB_OEM_ID=31000&v=TrhHbUvaEic
As for the Broyles award, LR is the third OU assistant to win it. The other two played for the NC – Mangino in 2000 and Wilson in 2008.

This brings me joy.. Now to make him runner up on the 31st
I agree!!!
Funny. BV has been doing a heck of a job. But doesn’t have to face the offenses of the Big 12…well, until 12/31.
Quick question, does anyone know what section the tickets are in that Ou is selling from their website?
Bob made a bunch of changes to get OU back on track but none bigger than deciding to go back to his roots and get a guy with an offensive system he believes in and gambling on a young Lincoln Riley. Congratulations to Lincoln. Very deserving.
Has anyone else read this crap? Bob needs to hang this up for the players to read.
Leggett, who leads Clemson with seven touchdown catches, said the Tigers are confident entering the College Football Playoff semifinal.
“We have all the momentum. They’re not an obstacle for us. They’re just an opportunity for us to get better and move on to the next game,” he said. “So far for me, I’m 2-0 in that stadium, so I don’t think it’s going to change.”

When the head coach has already marked it as a win, the players will follow suit. They believe this is an easy game for them. Swinney has said they’ll be called the greatest team of all-time after this season.
bold, unwise and bold
Like LR said: Time to go to work.
So that’s how Clemson Clemson’s so often.
I really wish overconfidence was always a indication of an impending loss…all I hope is that the hunger, anger, and focus is on the side of the good guys, and they can deliver a humbling blow to all that stand in their way.

Lol these 2 make Riley look like he’s photo bombing them.
Congrats coach Riley! I know you are making some of my close friends from Muleshoe, TX extremely proud!

What a great job he has done, and what an amazing and inspired hire by Stoops and Castiglione! Everyone was certain Bob would let his brother go for the defensive lapses, but he understood that he had to have an offense that helped his defense or it wouldn’t matter WHO was the coach of the defense. And he then grabbed a man was so young others were scared to hire him, and who’s hiring would have been blamed on him if he hadn’t been successful. Great job and incredibly gutsy choices made by everyone involved to accurately diagnose and fix the problems with the team! I’m proud to be a SOONER! Everyday.
