Wow – those 98 buck jobs keep rollin’ along…and so early today….
I would think ammber with 2 ms is worth more!
Why is it $98 anyway? Is there a felony/misdemeanor line at work?
“it’s realy the Simple job I have ever Do”
Dustin, why does Janet and Ammber get a pass?
I will bet when it’s all over, Perine is a top 20 player.
I 2nd that Ray – how are you?
Surviving the heat.
Gonna be really, really hot today. Next week looks to be much cooler. ‘Bout time.
Can’t wait.
For the past five years, my wife has 10 of her closest high school friends over. I cook the entire meal and treat the ladies to a night of good food, drinks, dessert and laughter. That’s this Saturday. We haven’t had rain, nothing to speak of, for days. Guess what is happening Saturday. Yep, there’s a 90% chance.
Get a rain coat,Sam!You can do it!
Ha! Funny!
That was the vibe I was picking up from her.
LOL it takes a good women to make a good man! However i dont have one!
That explains a lot.
me either…
We’ve had some everyday lately up by the lake. Feels like New Orleans up here.
Why doesn’t he get more respect on National stage? Dumbfounded.
Doesn’t make sense.
A lot of people will be in for a big surprise when Samaje gets to the NFL, assuming he’s still underappreciated by then.
You’re right. No respect from EsecPN or CBS sports, they’re too busy propping up their SEC investment. If he played for Alabama then he would be a Heisman candidate according to the sports media. At least the sports service Athlon has OU ranked #2 in their top 20 running back groups with Perine and Mixon.
http://247sports.com/Gallery/46703948/GallerySlides/311071-311071?View=Full#311071-311071
Because, I think, they just look at the bottom line and don’t realize how many yards Mixon is contributing/taking away from Perine (depending on how you look at it). Just on numbers, it looks like he had a “sophomore slump” compared to his eye-popping freshman numbers.
I think this year, both Perine and Mixon are going to blow the lid off of last year. Especially without Sterling, and with our O-line upping the beef on the interior, look for a steady dose of Thunder and Even Bigger Thunder.
He didn’t even get as much press as fournette in both their freshman years. This is despite not starting half the games, racking up 700 more yds, and breaking the all time single game rushing record that season. So it’s not just the bottom line.
Fournette gets his yards in flashy marathons. Those are the plays that make the ESPN Top 10.
Perine is a workhorse. He doesn’t do things flashy (most times), he just gets it done. Unfortunately, that means he doesn’t get the headlines of a Fournette, or Derrick Henry.
However, I wouldn’t be surprised if he eclipses both of them in the pros.
he doesn’t seek or crave publicity for one thing…….
Why stop at 20?
Good morning FOOTBALL,Ray,Cush,DB,Jed!!!! and all TFB and ‘ERS,BOOMER!!!!!!!!
GOOD Morning Metz!
Good FOOTBALL morning Metz. BOOMER!

FOOTBALL Metz!!! It is almost here!
Morning Metz!!! SOONER!!!
Morning,Bleed!
While I don’t disagree with it, how odd for us to only have one receiver on the list of the ten best in the league. Here’s to hoping that changes by season’s end
It will unless we fall in a dumpster and have a texsa type season.
Kudos to Jordan for getting this together so early.
Making the donuts early today. Me likey.
Oracle – give us your morning wisdom π
Never pee into the wind or wear orange of any shade. That is all.
Should those wearing orange of any shade pee in the wind?
Yes!!!!
So let it be written.
Sound advice…in particular about orange. The other will at least wash off.

When I 1st saw this, I thought you were committing to the TFB’s and were in the 737 area code LOL
Lmao!!!!!!
I’ve been committed for 35+ years! BOOMER!!!

Slacker…hopefully, you live long enough to get into the 6 decade club – it’s great as a fan…a little annoying as a person. π
Congrats Cush! Live long and prosper as a Sooner fan.
As a matter of fact, this is my 60th year as a Sooner fan. π
Yessir.
Maybe we will are getting an early OP today as well ;-).
With an early BOOM!
Even better metz! What time is your meeting today so I know when to check back for the OP JK
Ha sorry no meeting today!
I am late to the party, but good morning TFB!!
Naw, Jordan was really on-the-ball today. All time record early start I think.
Good FOOTBALL Morning CW!
Good Sooner Football Morning Metz!
I am just so proud of Jordan – 6:30 showtime!
Love the Thibs attitude. I just hope the guys trust him and let loose like he seems to want. I would so like the D to play downhill.
Really like his energy, attitude, and passion. Hope he has what it takes and stays for the long haul. Really want to see good things on the field.
I’m hoping we let the Dline get away from the unagressive 2 gap nonsense this year. This is a passing conference. You need as much pressure as you can generate, not a Dline standing around bumping chests with their Oline waiting to see what they’re running. Letting your Dline be aggressive will also help in recruiting. Top DL prospects dont want to stand around and 2 gap their careers away anymore than top CBs want to stand around in zone coverage guarding patches of grass all day.
“We want our ears peeled.” “We want to make a guy uncomfortable in the pocket.” “Let’s fly around.” “No redos.” I like it.
Exactly! Hey Sam! Jordan got cookin’ real early. It let me enjoy TFB before my trek to work – looming now.
Yeah, Jordan will throw you a nugget once in a while.
You be careful getting work. Dial in again, once you get planted. Remember, there are some more BOOMS! looming.
Cool video – love the intensity
This interview with Switzer from yesterday on the sports animal is cracking me up!!! Barry was talking about a talk he had with Risings dad and was saying how he doesn’t wanna go too far cuz he doesn’t want to cause a recruiting violation like he used to..
Is there a podcast link?
Most likely they were just playing some parts of it on air..
I guess right when Barry got on air he claimed he had been drinking already lol
I heard he tried to get Stoops to hang around and drink with them, he said he couldn’t because of the early practice. haha.
Haha yea it was funny when he started talking about rising and told Bob to just wink if wanted him to stop lmao
They just said this Saturday the whole broadcast will re air from noon to 4..
There is. You can listen to it right now.

Classic!
Thanks
Great stuff!
That was great, thanks again
I think the King was a little lit up on the wine. He was dropping damns, ass, and sumbitches like rain. I couldn’t stop laughing and Bob couldn’t have been more uncomfortable. Two completely different personalities. LOL
I don’t know if their has been a personality like Barry in college football! I wish I was there to witness his time in Norman lol
I don’t think so either. Nothing like him anywhere on the planet.
You know how people ask who are 3 people You would want to sit down and talk to dead or alive.. Barry and Bob would be right there at the top for me would need to crack some cold ones with them too!
The problem with Bob is that he’s very tight lipped and politically correct. Maybe after he retires he will open up a little more.
I don’t know I think that’s just how Bob is.. But would definitely like for him to open up sometime
Bob is a completely different person when you meet him in person.
I’ll have to take your word for it and one day see for myself.
I actually had that opportunity flying out of Denver on the late flight commercial on SW airlines. Weren’t many people flying back to OKC that night out of Denver (maybe 30 of us) and guess who comes walking up in the waiting area? The King and his wife. We all had a great time sitting around shooting the sh*t and he was his normal, gracious self and entertained every one of us like he knew all of us personally. I’ll never forget that night.
That is awesome! I can only imagine how great that was
It was! We were all gathered around him and he was just being Barry. He had us all laughing our asses off the entire time and he was very accommodating and engaging with everybody. He just enjoys being around people period. What a night!
It was not always a love fest like it is now. Some blame that personality for creating the conditions/circumstances that led to him being canned.
I was working part-time pumping gas, etc. at a Texaco station at McGee and Lindsay when Barry first got to Norman. He didn’t stop in very often, but his wife did. She was an eyeful.
Yeah he was. I am listening now. It is hilarious. Bob said “You had a lot more fun than I did back then [referring to Barry’s days as head coach vs Bob’s days as head coach].” Barry responded (without missing a beat) “I still do!” LMBO.
I loved how The King kept teasing Deano, telling him he wasn’t used to not talking much. LOL
No doubt. Good times.
Oh yeah I just turned it on…. he’s way up on the drink
Way up! He was talking about Eschbach working on the school journal back in the day and referred to him as a “young Jewish kid” and Eschbach was like, “I am not Jewish!!”
“I know I just wanted to make you say it!” – Barry Switzer
LOL!!
I am over here crying. “I did not call him back because I do not want to commit any NCAA violations like I used to.” – B. Switzer.
“I’ll have Russians hack their ass!” – Barry Switzer on enforcing cell phone discipline.
I would like to hear it. Anyone have a link to it?

Morning, dave. Just arrived, too.
Morning Slim
Perine has to be the most overlooked CFB player in the nation. I guess he needs a monster game in a nationally televised game. I think rushing for 250 against Ohio State would do it.
He’s perceived to be slow.
I’m not usually one for gossip, but I just saw that Trevor Knight is dating Sadie Robertson…. go him
Old news, been going on for a while.
I guess I’m behind the times here. He seems to do quite well for himself in that area

Sup guys
…
What’s up Dave?
My first cup of coffee
And yourself?
I am trying to quit this dependence on coffee. I feel like my blood pressure and happiness is doing better.
Seen studies that suggest men who drink coffee are much less likely to get prostate cancer
Coffee or just the caffeine? Maybe decafe could be an option.
Think it was the coffee
We are using this Advocare Product called spark. It makes you feel the same as coffee does.
Ah I’ve used Spark before. It was packaged as a pre-workout drink
I think I saw that too and it was coffee. But where it’s good for that it also is negative in other areas.
So I’ve looked a little at Houston and from what I gather they have a good front 7 but will have a brand new secondary. Their QB (Ward) is slippery as hell, they have a transfer from Texas at RB. That’s all I really know about them. Is there going to be any kind of opponent breakdown that could share some more knowledge of them?
Wasn’t that RB from Texas the one who had a back injury and they thought would never play in college?
I’m not sure.
If he left Texas that must mean he is pretty good.
I think the RB transfer is Catalon.
Related to the Catalon from TCU?
I am not certain, but would not be surprised if they were somehow related. Both are from Houston, but they went to different High Schools.
They built their team on BIG XII transfers.
No, hes the one who quit mid practice when he realized he was getting buried on the depth chart. A few hits from walker should break his spirit again, not a strong minded kid it appears.
They haven’t had a chance to build depth along the lines yet.
1st group may be solid.
Getting into late 3rd and 4th their 2nd group Dline will cost them.
I don’t think they rotate but maybe 6 guys… compared to our 7-8
Especially how we got bigger and nasty on oline + perine/mixon.. wear them down.
Ed Oliver is the real deal. It will be early in the season though and his first live action.
True, but hes still a freshmen that’s been in the program for 6 months.
After there starting three dline.. Thurman, Singleton, and Mauelux its a considerable drop off compared to OU. We make it a dog fight we can win. Our dline depth + run game alone can win us games
But unlike OU,
Their two OLBs bring considerable production back.. getting after the QB..16 sacks combined from Bowser/Taylor.
0 production coming back from ILB.
Establish a consistent run game.
Get the 1st group dline tired in 3rd and 4th.
Put the pass rushers on their heels.
Balanced attack.
We win.
I’m thinking spread them out run as fast as you can up tempo! Make them go sideline to sideline quick screens wear them down.. Not many teams are ready to go full speed for a full game to start the season.. Them start running it down there throats the way Clemson did to us!
I think we can have success spreading them out and throwing it around, or just cramming Perine/Mixon down their throats. I’ll leave it up to Riley to figure out the balance, and which to start with. I’d love to just come out and establish the run, but most teams focus on stopping that early. So maybe we come out, spread them out, and get the passing game going, and then we’re the dline is gassed, we pound them with our running game.
Our most effective formation was the 20 with Perine/Mixon together even early in the year.
3 WRs, Andrews, Dede, Baxter/Mead..
Come out establish your run game..
Work off it with your bigger slot/Andrews in the middle of field…
They have new starters at ILB/S they wont match up with him..
Have Dede run crossing routes underneath/ Baxter… run screens
All uptempo, very physical/run game up front and aggressive down field.
Power spread (not my word)
Yea that’s the thing that’s nice having those two backs in who will block for each other, not having a blocking TE on the line it’s easy to stack the box but those two backs will bruise you with their blocks and power run.. Then run a no huddle and come spread out and finesse a quick screen on you.. The options are never ending lol
It doesn’t matter which ever we start with..
The pass game or run game
Its the fact you can compliment it and have a complete balanced attack.
I’m expecting OU to have the most balanced attack in CFB rivaling Clemson.
DAWG!
Hey Metz!
I’m not saying I want this but a tight game against Houston, and having Houston win out, would be good for OU later in the season.
Ok. I would be happier if it was like the Tennessee game last year. We win in OT after a masterful 4th qr come back.
Too close for comfort for me.
I don’t think my poor heart can take that again. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade those first three quarters of that game, because how awful they were made it that much sweeter to win. But it sure was painful at the time.
Been having chest pains since 1971 (12 yrs old at the time) watching OU. It will never stop till i am sooner dead!
Hell no,but i guess id take it,WOOF!
Or A blow out of Houston 45-21, but they go 10-2.
If we keep their LBs honest (and our running game should do that and then some) we should be able to put a lot of pressure on an inexperienced secondary.
They played three teams last year that played with any sort of tempo offense. Louisville, Memphis, and Cinci. The biggest margin of victory against any of them was only 3 points. None of those teams have the backfield we have. Not even close.
I agree we should wear them down in the third and fourth. A team like Houston usually has 3* and some 4* players on the starting team. But a good number of the rest are 2*. Houston hasn’t been good enough long enough to stock the cupboard with elite players. I suspect they will play us close early and there will be lots of angst on this board. But we will probably pull away late and all the media types who only look at the final score will say they weren’t much of a test for us.
Tempo, tempo, tempo……FSU still plays the same offense they did in the 90s and they couldn’t ware Houston out. Houston wore them out though.
FSU only got 71 plays off vs houston(only 23 rushes), and hit on less than half of their passes.
Thats a pretty bad game plan when you have dalvin cook, and houston had a really good secondary.
Me thinks FSU got cocky.
Not to mention their starting QB for most of the season didn’t even go to their bowl game, and their QB that started the game for them had a major ankle injury early in the game and was just never a threat to move out of the pocket or throw deep.
Yep, there was a good reason golson won the job to start the year.
FSUs Oline got destroyed all game long. They were bad last year all season long. Houston keyed in on Cook all game long and did a good job of stopping him. I don’t think FSU was cocky. I think Houston put them on their heels and forced them to play to their weakness which is pass protection and forcing a mediocre QB to make plays under pressure.
They only ran on 1st down to open drives twice in the entire 1st half. Thats not the way to establish the running game and wear down a team.
Yes, the FSU o-line wasnt good last year, but allowing a team to force you to play to your weakness is a good way to lose a game.
Even with a good secondary, UH allowed some bad QB’s to pass for almost 400. Im excited to see what baker can do to them with newbies in the secondary.
Yep. They probably should have focused on slowing the game down and pounding the ball which is doing what they do best. Trying to get into an air raid shootout with a QB who’s used to running a triple option 70 yr old non-throwing offense was a losing proposition from the start. I can’t figure out why they recruited him to FSU in the first place.
they projected incorrectly, thats for sure lol.
I think they would have had a shot to win had golson not gotten hurt earlier in the season.
Much better chance!
Top o’ the mornin’, AM crew!! Been on a heckuva run w recruiting and now getting tiny morsels of practice info. It’s good being a Sooner!
Morning,hOU!!!!!!
Good morning, hOUligan!
I saw a guy strolling through the neighborhood this morning with an opened umbrella. Now that’s what I call an optimist!
Talking about things that prevent prostate cancer, what about just staying away from things that cause it?
So you should get different parents? Most cancers have a genetic component that predisposes some folks to that kind of cancer. In that case you want something that helps actively prevent and not just avoid things that increase your chance.
Bingo!
What did you think caused it?
having a prostate?

Listening to it right now. Good stuff.
I will listen later. I have a conference call coming up in five minutes.

Give me a minute. Let me see how this goes over.
Sounds like Metz just gave you a job offer.

Just so you know, Metz, I’m not good at mixing concrete. All I have is my Kitchen Aid mixer. I suppose I’ll need something bigger than that.

Cool!

When ever you want!
Can I work remotely. I don’t want to move the family.
You hire someone who kidney punches you?
I think he’s looking to get even. Which is why we need to negotiate my salary. I need to make sure I’m getting paid, since I’m assuming all of the risk.
My advice to you is to sleep with one eye open. And pack some heat. Nice knowing you Sam… π
I will trust the Oracle’s advice.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sam working for me i like it!!!!!!!!
So Jammer threw the Clemson game? I didn’t know that.
Whatever he was paid, it wasn’t enough.
That was one strange game. It would explain a lot.
Really cool hearing them all talk….there is some serious Sooner History.

Trash
Nope….we’ll be putting in the Oklahoma Yoga Drill Sat.
Probably. On the other hand, okie lite will do the Yogi drill where each player has to produce a malapropism or a redundant statement or word exchange. This is to prepare them for the future jobs in fast food.
Haha, I was told that welll be doing it this year. Im not sure when though.

It’s useful for checking out some of the rookies and trade acquisitions. I watched Rip destroy a couple of people on specal teams in preseason last year with the Packers. Had a pretty good feeling he was going to supplant Kuhn as the starting FB this year.

Speaking of Auburn, they’ll be lucky if they get 9 wins I predict.
I think nine is generous. They don’t even know who their QB is three weeks out from playing Clemson. Pretty much three guaranteed loses in LSU, Bama, and Clemsen.
Spoilers for Netflix’s “Last Chance U” (which is great, and everyone here should watch it) . . .
One of Auburn’s QBs is a transfer from EMCC, and his throwing is about on par w/ TK9 in the TCU game. Seriously. 9 wins seems pretty far fetched to me.
Oh yeah I saw that. Kid is a good running QB but from what they showed, he couldnt hit the side of a barn with some of those throws he made. Seemed small too.
Pretty much. I was honestly surprised they offered him when he wasn’t even the starter on a JUCO team. Which means their QB situation must be really bad.
I watched the series. Excellent. Great insight into the mindset of some of these troubled kids. I think EMCC’s coach is a huge blowhard. I don’t like the way he constantly curses and berates his playes, and loses his temper. He’s a bad example for young men who desperately need a good one. I’ll take coaches like Stoops and Bill Snyder ANY day.
The thing is, lots and lots of coaches are like that. My high school coaches were like that, Mike Stoops is like that. And some players need that imo. Especially these JUCO kids who have the talent for D1 but can’t put their act together to get there. Now, I’d still take Stoops or Switzer or Snyder any day as well, but I actually thought the guy was an ok coach.
OP UP!!!!!!!

Big 12’s LGBT issue not just BYU. Memphis, Houston & current members are problems
http://www.outsports.com/2016/8/11/12382208/big-12-byu-memphis-houston-lgbt
The lgbt community should have ZERO say in what the Big 12 does. Those at BYU have the same right to their beliefs as anyone else out there. How is leaving BYU out of the Big 12 due to their religious beliefs not discrimination. The exact kind of discrimination that the lgbt community experienced and fought against for decades.
Disclaimer: I’m not a proponent of Big 12 expansion, but if I were, BYU would be at the bottom of my list.

Re: preseasn rankings: LSU Overated (as usual) and probably Bama, too.
Even when Madison is talking she has a sultry voice…..talented girl.
I like a sultry voice. A lot. I don’t like the nasally Savanah Guthrie kind of voice. At all.
I do too, Niia Bertino has a voice along the same line, I like listening to her.
Did you just say you liked big Nila’s sultry baritone voice?
I see you’ve broke my code.
Heh, heh, heh.

Nice
It seems like the us is winning tons of medals in the popular sports in the Olympics especially swimming and is there any reason for any other teams to b competing in women’s gymnastics because the US women r awesome. What ever happened to Romania.
Romania didn’t qualify. Astounding really, considering they’d medalled at every Game since 1976.
Yeah i seen they did have 1 gymnast competing individualy and i seen the great nadia Comanich in stands
With Bart Conner? Rarely see one without the other. Adorable couple.
