  • Jason Vos says:

Whose better, Mayfield or Watson? Is this still a question . I think this was decided on the field already. Watson is definitely a better college and pro QB

    • Framoka says:

Surely not the better pure passer, but is definitely the superior athlete and runner. He’s the best, both now and upside wise IMO.

    • Brent says:

it’s been decided on the field that Watson is a better pro QB?

    • LottsSocks says:

There is no shame being in 2nd place behind Watson…

    • Dick Bump says:

Watson is really good. Fortunately, the real question is which team is going to have the best season. OU has the tougher schedule, but I like our chances.

    • Clint Lenard says:

This is a bit silly, because Watson couldn’t do much until OU’s offense threw in the towel and the defense sat on the field too long. Comparing QB’s based on one game is nonsensical.

    • j l says:

Baker had a superior passing day when they played, but the clemson lines won that game.

Baker also had superior passing stats all season, while playing tougher competition. Better completion %. More td. Less int. Better YPA.

Only real advantage watson has is his rushing stats.

Thats like saying the bama QB is better than watson because they won the game.

Better NFL prospect? Yes. Better college QB? id say they are pretty damn equal.

  • Jeff says:

    ESPIN is clueless

    • Rene Goupillaud says:

Got that right. Bottom feeders atop the league as TCU beats OU? Was the author under the influence.

      • Dick Bump says:

I think OU has the better talent and better team, but the timing on the schedule and location could make this one of the toughest games.

  • jimintexas says:

  • BleedCrimson says:

61 DTG – ONE All-American wore this number
Leon Cross AA 58-62; Ed Culver 79-81; Jeff Ward 76-78

  • Gary Robbins says:

Probably already mentioned and not football related, but K. Durant to the Warriors is kind of a shocker. It’s all about the Gold ball so to speak.

    • BleedCrimson says:

What did yOU expect from a longwhorn?

      • BleedCrimson says:

I am not sure why so many Sooners are upset abOUt a longwhorn leaving the state.

        • Dustin says:

Because a lot of us are Thunder fans. He was the best player. It sucks. He’s a pussy.

          • BleedCrimson says:

Russ was/is a better player. I am not a big fan of the NBA, but KD is a good man, really liked what he did in the community. That is what will be missed.

          • Dustin says:

In OKC Russ is now the better player. In reality, KD is an MVP and scoring champ.

          • BleedCrimson says:

Ahh, gotcha, I was thinking that Russ had an MVP, but after looking it up, those 2 were for the All-star game MVP’s.

          • Oscar says:

Agree. He was a excellent citizen and ambassador.

          • Stephen Dale says:

KD is going where he thinks the chance of winning a title is greater than in OKC. That should raise eyebrows with ownership, front office, coaching staff, teammates, and paying fans..Obviously , all eyes turn to Sam Presti and his inability to put together the pieces for a title with talent like Durant, Harden, & Westbrook…If I’m Presti, my resignation papers arrive on Clay Bennett’s desk this afternoon , for Presti has failed to keep win a title or hold to one of the leagues best talents….and he won’t’ keep Westbrook in all likelihood after next season….

          • paganpink says:

I think he’s been surpassed by Westbrook in my opinion. He had few good playoff games and just doesn’t shoot as well as he once did. I was worried once he hooked up with Jay Z and the Illuminati as his agent!

          • cush creekmont says:

Apparently, he is a follower and not a leader. Since I don’t give a tiny damn about pro BB, the event has no positive or negative for me. The choice does seem a lot more “whorn” than red dirt tough.

        • Mark_in_VA says:

Yeah, I could never really get my heart into cheering for Durant. I look at him, and all I see is whorn.

Man, I just wish somehow they could get Griffin to OKC.

          • BleedCrimson says:

Same with me. Griffin and Buddy in a cOUple of years, when he hits trades. I wOUld watch Thunder in that case.

    • Stephen Dale says:

Gary : maybe Durant’s move should not be as much of a shocker as you think …..Who better than Durant to analyze the teams talent, coaching staff, FO, and decide to go where the chance of winning a title is better than OKC ? We’ll probably never know but the coaching change to Billy Donovan may have been the deciding factor in Durants decision…..

    • Sooner Ray says:

It will have zero impact on my life. 🙂

      • ND52 says:

Those of us old enough to remember the oil bust of the early 80’s when downtown OKC was so deserted on the weekends that you could walk from one end to the next and not see a single soul, will lose zero sleep over this.

        #perspective

    • ND52 says:

What’s really shocking is that we have a professional sports franchise in this city in the first place.

  • IslandersFan says:

In other news: Durant has declared his own ‘Independence’ and signed with
    Golden State…D’OH!

    • John Garner says:

I focus only on Sooner BB. The pros are a different animal. Not to be glib but nothing to lose sleep over.

      • JB says:

I’ve thought for a long time that Russell Westbrook is the most valuable player on the team and too often, KD doesn’t show up in the playoffs. That’s the guy we need to re-sign by next year.

        • Stephen Dale says:

Who really thinks Westbrook has any intention of signing another contract with OKC when he can pick & choose his next team after next season ? OKC lost any compensation with Durant’s departure ; the front office should be smarter and trade Westbrook for draft choices or a bevy of young NBA players….Biggest question now ? how good a GM is Sam Presti ? He has drafted poorly, has mixed results on FA signings, blew the Harden deal, and has shown little ability to add serious talent to the Durant – Westbrook axis since Harden left.. If I’m Clay Bennett, I’m evaluating Presti and possibly replacing him…OKC is a rebuilding mode now. Whether Presti can restructure the team around others besides Durant / Westbrook is THE question NOW….

          • BoomerDave says:

Presti has drafted poorly?? Really?? Hmmm….Drafted KEVIN DURANT; drafted RUSSELL WESTBROOK when everyone was saying he drafted him too high; drafted JAMES HARDEN when people said the same thing; drafted SERGE IBAKA when nobody had ever heard of him; found a gem when he drafted STEVEN ADAMS late in the round. You sir are a f*&@king idiot!!

  • Walter Sobcek says:

Happy 4th, and try not to lose any fingers, Sooner fans. Especially the pinky. How can you do the $%^& ’em Horns sign without a pinky?

  • Jeff says:

    Another typical uterus quitter

  • JB says:

    Happy Independence Day everyone!

  • Maranatha846 says:

Stephen Smith , like him or not, which I don’t, nailed it on Durant…..weakest move I have ever seen from a super star. I hope Lebron destroys his weak arse every time they meet. I have said for 2 years he wasn’t the face of the franchise, Westbrook is. Now we will also leave him to free agency. No one left at this point in free agency to replace Durant’s talent. Quitter Horn.

    • soonerthunder says:

durant has lived a honeymoon of a career. the honeymoon just ended. if they win they’ll say, “We’d hv won anyway w/o kd.” if they lose. . . wow! they will hv field day on kd. if kd gets injured, which he has tended to do, they’ll criticize spending $ on a guy doesn’t play all time. SF and CA media n/soft like OKC media. national media will criticize. Prov 22:1, “A good name is to be chosen over great wealth, and to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” i think kd lost his respect w/many, many people nationally. they think he’s afraid of competition, just wants to walk onto championship team. james has had to endure great criticisms, it’s just a fact. criticisms will be more real against kd.

and, to your point about free agency. he could hv said he wanted to go to GS, which I think he already knew, and OKC would have HAD to trade him there, knowing there is nothing they could do about it b/c he could go anyway. but if he’d done that we could have traded for GS players they were going to lose anyway, and we’d hv gotten something. but, maybe kd’s afraid of competition of okc and wanted to walkon to championship team w/o even a challenge from okc.

i enjoyed him while here, but whether he or anyone likes it or not, he’s going to get a ton of criticism for a long, long time, yrs a/f his retirement even, people are going to point back to this and criticize him.

      • Walter Sobcek says:

KD has put himself in a “must win” situation. If the Warriors take the title, the reaction will be, “Of course, they should win every year with that roster.” But if they don’t, the finger will be pointed at Kevin.

  • Maranatha846 says:

Happy 4th to everyone. Thanks to all the vets who kept the flame of freedom burning. My Dad was a WW1 veteran and my service didn’t come until Viet Nam. Our country has major problems for sure ( just look at our choices for POTUS ), but it’s still the best place to live and I’m proud to be a part of it.

OU pillaging DFW according to DMN. Just like old times. And it is likely to get even better w/ the other 3 uncommitted being Okudah, Hines and Browning. I’m OUt on a limb here and saying OU ‘leading’ for Okudah at this point and likely Hines, too, w/ Browning in seriOUs play. OU … there’s only ONE and it ain’t even close. Suc it, EsecSPiN. FOOTBALL!!!

It’s OU Football day on Fox College Sports Central. Hope everyone is having a great July 4th!

  • Farmer Glickstein says:

Wow, I guess ESPN is planning to have Katy Perry come on GameDay and propose to Baker.

  • connie usa says:

Not football related, BUT I’ll always remember 7/4/2016 as the day that KD chose himself, over the; team, city and state. Unlike BStoops, who has never seemed to waver.

    • Dustin says:

      KD can suck it!!

    • ND52 says:

      Total apples to oranges comparison.

      • connie usa says:

Actually never said that it was true comparison. I’ll explain so that you might understand. Whether u like him or not, KD’s decision was for his personal gain; and not for the fans who have supported him. BUT, BStoops has had opportunities to leave OU, but he never wavered. He could have left for more $$ (I would be surprised if he wouldn’t have a pro job, if he wanted), or even a job that some would consider (not me) more prestigious (OSU, ND, or UF). $$ are important, but I believe that the Coach stays because he loves the city, state and fans who support OU and him so vigorously.

        • ND52 says:

…..KD’s decision was for his personal gain……

Of course it was. I think that much should be obvious to everyone outside of the fanbase.

He could have left for more $$

Sure he could have. But what other areas (especially professional markets not named Green Bay) have Norman’s super-low cost of living? Where else could he build a mansion so cheaply?

          I’m guessing not many.

…..but I believe that the Coach stays because he loves the city, state and fans who support OU and him so vigorously.

I think Stoops is smart enough to know that if he ever produces anything resembling Switzer’s run of the early 80’s, that all that love and support will disappear quicker than a cupcake at a weight watcher’s convention.

Good size guy for QB. I like it.

    • BleedCrimson says:

What is the 3 legged chair? The Nets guy looks like a LB/S type.

      • UGA Sooner says:

If only I were a UGA fan. Only one I know of is the guy in the Bosworth jersey because he’s the talk of the town in these parts. Wouldn’t mind having Nets as a walk on to see what he’s made of
