Two OU Defensive Linemen Suspended For ULM Game

TFB has learned through a source that starting defensive lineman Matt Dimon will miss Saturday’s game against Louisiana-Monroe as a result of a suspension for violation of team rules.
Additionally, TFB has confirmed a report from RufWriters.com that DE Austin Roberts has also been suspended and will sit out the ULM game.

If you go by the depth chart, it would be Gallimore. But considering how useless Stoops’ depth charts have proved to be in the past, my guess would be DJ Ward.
Either way, we’ll find out in less than 24 hours 🙂

Yep. Hate to hear this news, but in terms of who and when … now is a good time for this because we can get snaps for the younger guys who will likely be needed for tOSU and beyond.

We need Dimon only for depth. Maybe he has improved this year, but Walker starting along with Romar, Wade and Obo and work in Ward, Q, Gallimore…we be ok. If Dimon and Roberts think doing something that jeopardizes the team and their careers at OU is more important than no doing it, they can sit on the bench for the rest of the season as far as I care.
Kids will be dumb kids. C’mon you young whipper snappers, this is FOOTBALL we’re talking about here, ain’t that hard. 🙂
Unfortunately, these aren’t kids. They’re adults and they’re old enough to know better. It’s not high school anymore and it’s not like they were ignorant of coach’s rules. No excuses.

I’m going to view this as a positive. These guys don’t get some freak injury against ULM and are fired up to get back on the field against tOsu. Meantime, some youngsters gain valuable minutes and are better prepared for next week and beyond. All good.

The coach, formerly known as Big Game Bob, has lost the locker room and control of the team. Things will only get worse if OU loses to Ohio State.
We lost most of the leadership in the locker room. New leaders have to step up.

Ok I am not a Stoops has lost the locker room guy but I would say that this shows a lack of focus after getting your butt kicked by the players. It also makes me concerned about leadership in the locker room among players. If they had won last week I could see guys be undisciplined and riding high but when just lost how do you not lock in and do all that is asked of you???
I would agree if………………….the circumstances that cost these players some game time had happened between now and the Houston game last week. Something tells me these suspensions are a result of something that occurred much earlier.

One is something that happened before the season. The other…is really minor imo but a rule nonetheless. I wouldnt read too much into the suspensions.

i don’t know of the life of me why DJ ward stays in the rotation. Ive only scene the guy stay blocked . i never see a second move ever. i feel like he’s a one trick pony. i feel like he’s got what it takes just doesn’t translates for some reason. i wanna see Neville , bledsoe and a lot more Overton.
id like to see the Sooners in a 4-2 maybe a 2-4 s well. i mean we got a lot of talented Pass rushers who can be plugged in those bandit and rovers spots. ( OBO , DeBarry, Beal , Douchet and Kelly )
The problem with DJ Ward us that he fits a traditional 4 man front. And we should have gone back to the 4-3 since Mike isn’t using the 3-4 creatively. I guess he doesn’t keep up with how the NFL uses the 3-4 and sends blitz’ from everywhere, including the double A gap blitz.
I agree , we have two really big inside LB’s. But , even when DJ has as Outside rush its a bull rush and he never makes that 2nd al important move. to get the O-Lines hands off him. thats what i mean by he stays blocked he never disengages. Matt Dimon is great about that. that dude gets there hands off him quick. if your gonna use DJ ward i think yes you are correct use hm in a four man front at the 5 technique . i just don’t trust him at the 6.i think a stand up out side rusher could be his strength too . like a Erik walden type for the Colts. or a 2-4 with OBO and DJ stood up

I’m hoping we get the ‘team mad as Hornets’ scenario, they are up by 30 at half, 1st team gets some points and stops, develop some rhythm early in the 3rd then goes to the bench for Popsicles while the 2nd – 3rd team/frosh finish and get needed minutes.

Watching the UCF/Mich game, Coach Harbaugh used 18 true freshmen in their opener, 18. This is what we should be doing because you never know when you need depth plus it gives them valuable experience during the season. He played a total of 79 players in all.
Tbf, they played a terrible Hawaii wk 1, and could’ve won anyway playing only true freshman. Not really comparable to Houston.
The point I’m making is when we play a terrible team like Hawaii, then that is what we need to do to get some of these freshmen some valuable pt. You never know when guys will get injured and they will have to step in. I’m not talking about last week in general when you play week teams.
I certainly hope our freshman see sometime today, but it’s not like Bob has didn’t play them last year. Que, Anderson, Sylvie, Sunderland, Haughton, Miller, and Green all saw time last year IIRC. My bigger problem was Bob not putting them back in early enough in blowouts.

I’ll be joining the crowd not paying for the ppv, this year. First one I’ve missed in years. I usually spring for it, although without inviting a paying crowd over it’s gotten a little too steep imho. Won’t be home for most of it. Will listen to as much of the radio broadcast as possible and catch up on the replay.
Man concerning last week, BM is your leader that did what he wanted to do and not play team ball. I count several team mate’s upset in the Houston game. Running back’s upset only 12 carries the entire game. This is so much unlike OU it’s embarrassing. I think that Riley and BM are both embarrassed about the Houston game. The week has been tough for the team. Looking at film of yourself seeing you bring the team down. It felt like we got a big dose of old BM from TTaco gun slinger. So let’s just hope thing’s surely has turned around. #BOOMER
