After the Texsa game, I have changed my pre-game. I now wear my long sleeve Boomah Soonah shirt and for pre-game meal I have a nice think rib-eye seered to medium-rare with a side of tots. Been working well the last few weeks. If today goes well, I will have found the new tradition. 🙂

It would be funny if Perine breaks the all time rushing record against them last year and Mixon breaks the all time receiving record against them this year.
It may sound crazy, but if it were me I’d probably have 2nd or 3rd string guys starting this one. Guys further down the depth chart are more likely to play fired up since they don’t get to see the field as much, despite the opponent. Save on injuries to starters too.

D looks very vanilla or boring. I would like to see us get more pressure but I can see what Mike is doing here. Play safe and no risk against a team that needs mistakes to even move the ball.

Let’s give it up to the Fox broadcast team. It takes some real effort to say that many good things about an 0-8 Kansas team.
Don’t look now, but it’s just possible that one, or should I say only one, of these high flying Big 12 teams has a real defense. Hard to tell against Kansas, of course, but the only score was on a gifted short field, and but for a slight misjudging of the ball on the td pass, that wouldn’t have happened either. Kudos again to that guy that so many want fired at the drop of a hat.

wow. i actually thought their qb played pretty well. He didn’t get much help, but he made several nice plays and nothing really bad at all. And even so, they just couldn’t get anything done.
He played smart, and if you’re the KU coach, that’s all you can ask from him given the team around him. I think he could end up to be a good QB for them eventually.
His receivers were awful in the 1st half! Lots of drops. They must have put stickum on their gloves during halftime.
EACH of our RB’s had more yards rushing than KU.
Sterling Shepard had more yards receiving than KU.

The best offense we’ve faced (by far) was Tech. OSU and TCU have both faced Tech, and the results weren’t anywhere near the same as when we played them. I think it’s safe to say our defense is pretty good this year. At the very least, it’s the best in the conference.

He’s a straight line runner and doesn’t break that many tackles. Give him a hole and he can break one with his speed, but between our scheme and the youth of our line we aren’t producing the open lanes he needs. Both Perine and Mixon are better at making a cut or breaking tackles.
What most don’t know, Ross was a return guy (due to his track speed) and a defensive end up until he was asked to switch over to offense during his Junior year of HS. He is still figuring out how to be a good running back.

I really expected him to try defense after Perine and Mixon made the scene, especially since that is his background. Not sure why the coaches haven’t tried it (or maybe they did and it didn’t work).
I guess the question is does he have the ability to make the cuts? The rest of his game seems decent, he just doesn’t seem to be able to make the cuts he needs to. Not sure if that is an ability thing or a skill thing.
Some of that is vision, some guys are born with it, others develop it from years of playing the position. He is fast and strong, just not elite at the RB position.
He seems to be a good athlete. Hope he finds a niche.

Punt return is more about lateral quickness which is where Ross is weak. Kickoff return is more about straight line speed, that’s where Ross is good.
I don’t question why he doesn’t get more carries at all. He goes down easier than a $2 whore. Perine and Mixon are tough runners who get yards after contact. Alex Ross gets most of his yards before contact. And his ball security needs improvement.

I do think it may take 7 straight games of putting up 50 points to make the necessary impression on the committee. Obviously whatever scores it takes to beat Baylor tcu and osu is great but may not be enough.
Without factoring in what else is happening with other teams across the country, OU wins out with the last three teams currently all ranked in the top 12, even if by one point, it would be unlikely the committee isn’t impressed with that.
That’s all I care about, is that OU wins out by taking one game at a time. They have no control over anything else, so no need to worry about it.
I bet when Trevor knight is looking back at his football career, the thing he will remember fondest will be that touchdown to his brother in mop up duty more than anything else. Nice moment for them.

I was in the Philippines from ’73-’75 and Bruce Lee was huge. It was either ’73 or ’74 and Kung Fu was all the rage, so a match was made with 5 Kung Fu masters vs 5 Thai Boxers in Bangkok. They petitioned the government to make the participants immune from prosecution if any of the combatants were killed. The Thai government consented and the “Death Match” was on.
The 5 Thai Boxers won all five matches in 15 minutes total…no one died.

I actually blame the offense for that loss. The D gave up a lot of rushing yards but the O put them in bad spots most of the day and they only gave up 24 in spite of it.

Iowa state gave up 119 yards of rushing to texas, the genius formation Mike ran allowed 313. I believe it was the game before when Gary patterson stated ” we’ve beaten better with less ” about texas.
