I think the line looks different in that Samia and Nila click well. Samia is hustling all over the place….one of the sacks was a very delayed blitz…ill give them that. But the left side is still struggling a bit. Most of the runs are getting gains on the right. Lets keep it going and put this thing away.

They will just get better and let them learn from their mistakes. We are going to thave to deal with this oline playing like this maybe the rest of the year. It’s often very hard to maintain the same intensity with this big a lead, but I’ll be looking to see just how well they can do that in the second half. A strong finish might tell us more about the potential of this team.

I think you’re right about focus and for some reason we haven’t been focused vs Texas. Hopefully this is the team we see the rest of the year, still won’t be good enough to beat Baylor and will be a shootout with tcu and osu but those are wins IMO.

What I don’t like here, is if you are going to continue playing Mayfield, then keep pushing it while he’s in there. Don’t back off, ever. Playing conservative is not our strong suit. Play to your strengths, which for us is speed and tempo, and pushing it up the field.
When you want to “let off,” put in your backup qb. But even then play YOUR game, which is speed and tempo. We should not play conservative until 8 min left in game, no matter the score, or who the opponent.

Why? We’re talking about 1-2 possessions probably. BM and this offense need to learn to operate when things aren’t easy, or we’re behind the chains. Or out of rhythm, as you put it.
What got them out of rhythm was the more conservative approach that last drive. If, as you say, BM only has 1-2 series left (which I agree with) then why play conservative with him? Put TK in when you want to “back off.” Your risking BM’s health anyway, why not let it rip just like you did first half? Should never let off the gas too early. Not saying K-state could come back, but play conservative with 8 min left, not the whole second half. That gets us out of the awesome rhythm we built up…

There is a difference in running our normal offense, and running the ball every single play. I’m not talking much, just throw it once every 3-4 plays. We started this drive with something like 12 minutes left in the 4th. You wanted us to run our normal offense, which is probably 2 passes every 3 snaps. I simply don’t want to run every single play.
And they can be screens or outs. I’m not looking for go routes. Just let those guys catch some balls in game action.

Reminds me of a few OU home games from earlier in Stoops’ tenure. We beat a pretty solid ISU team at home very similar to this. Holding any team to 104 yards on their home field is pretty salty.

Funny thing was I forgot that the game was ABC, I made the delivery to the airport maint. dept., moved across town to the truck stop and put my dish up. I can’t get local channels on the road, when my wife is home, you can watch at home or on the road, but not both. The antennae didn’t receive ABC where I was parked. I grabbed my laptop hooked up the wifi, it was too slow to watch the game, so I wound up watching my first ever game on my phone, and a BT stereo headset. It really wasn’t that bad! It was small but a great picture.

I did have to bite my tongue, while delivering today, I was in their faciility wearing an OU hat. Several pointed and looked, but no one said a thing.
I had a guy come and apply for a job with me and lipped off about my OU rock in front of the office. I told him I would not hire him. And he laughed and thought I was joking. I never called him.
I had a mechanic in Baytown who was wearing a Shorthorn hat start to service my truck. I told him he couldn’t touch my truck until he took off that awful hat. He said the money was important than the image and removed the hat.

Trevor looked great. Boy is he electric at times. Guys that might have put another qb in some scrambling trouble, couldn’t get a finger on him. And, most importantly, he threw very accurately and took care of the ball. Nice job.

No idea without looking again whether it was loss of focus or poor snap or something else, but, whatever, TK’s ability to make a total disaster look like a “no problem” great play is remarkable.

I think in a situation like that I line up in punt formation and then snap it to one of the up men and see if he can either get two or stay up for ten seconds.
Punter has to get the ball away
The short snap just seems lower risk and leaves you with having to make the hail mary if you don’t make the two or run out the clock. Muff a deep snap and it puts them in FG range or what just happened.
In that case, just line up and go for it
I wouldn’t have a problem with that. If you fail that get one play that has to be a completion in the EZ. Heck have the QB run around and try to run out the 10 sec and heave it deep if he’s going to get tackled.

So TCU and ISU have already put up over 300 yds and 28 points and there is less than ten minutes gone in the first quarter.
TCU is a good team overall but theres no way in this or any other world that they’re the #3 team in the country. Their decimated defense is mediocre at best.

They aren’t. I picked them to go 9-3 because I thought they were going to face every team’s best shot this year plus have to deal with injury issues. If I were them I would not run Boykin. That would just be asking for their season to end early.
I wonder if stoops can get this team to do what they did in 2008 and just go on a ridiculous run (after losing to Texas) and beat teams like they’re still in high school.

Wish you could compare those teams. This was not the same OU that played last week. I know that most of the names were the same on the back of the jerseys, but they were not the same team. I think that K-State played a lot like we did last week. Not taking away from us at all, because we played very well. But you could see after our quick start, K-State lost all forward drive.
KSt got down by 14-0 early in the first qtr and lost their mojo…hmmm…where have I seen that happen before?

Yep
Play calling was outstanding from the get-go. Got KSU off-balance and kept them them. Very crisp on offense. Gave up a few sacks early from stunts, but adjusted. Was able to pound the ball the second half. Defensively, OU was aggressive and intense. Good tackling, great QB pressure. Very solid, error free game. No question, however, that KSU was still feeling the effects of two heartbreaking losses. They were as down as OU was last weekend.
LSU is legit.
Their QB is better than I thought.
Sure wish the horns had played today, just to see. Hate to pull for them but if they do well from here on, we look better.

Harbaugh should have covered that possibility before the play. That was pretty much the only way they could have lost. You HAVE to tell the punter to jump on it, especially if the ball is even or in front of where he was initially standing. Would have been a 55 or so yard FG had he just hopped on it.
The way the punter dropped the snap, he may have had someone put the thought in his head that it could happen.
Looked a bit low, the snap? Certainly catchable though.
I guess I don’t understand punting at all in that situation. Either try to get the two yards or run a play that has a chance of burning the ten seconds. Let your QB take a snap from under center. If you don’t get it, they still have to make a 55 yd hail mary.
My high school team had the same situation last week, up by 3, 4th and inches, ball on their own 47 but with 90 seconds left in the game.
HC said go, if our line and RBs can’t get the 1st down we don’t deserve to win. They broke off a 25 yd run to seal the game.

OU continues to improve and win, running the table in November would be very impressive in the eyes of the committee, CCG or not.

I would get so much pleasure out of 3 of 3. The O line was much better today, but still needs to make some dramatic improvement by November to make the run and advance in the playoffs.
The OL still needs to improve more, that lazy holding call on Brown was terrible, even if we had a huge lead.
Running tempo and short, quick passes helps the OL tremendously.

I would be suprised if the polls didn’t have Alabama in the top 5 this week. The headlines will probably be something like, Alabama shows early loss a fluke, and OU showing signs they MAY be back on track.

Good performance on both sides of the ball. Team definitely came out more focused and played with intensity. D stepped up and lithe one of the first shutouts in recent memory. And the offence was reminiscing of the glory years. The one knock is we have to get the running game on tract inside the 5. Overall this was as dominant win in we had in recent memory.
Dom played like a real linebacker today. He hit the holes before the RB got there and then made the tackle. Thomas may be the best CB on OUs defense. When Overton gets his “man’s” strength he is going to be a beast. He did a great job catching blocks and not getting pushed out. I had thought a few of those times a KSU WR got behind Sanchez was because the safeties were busting coverage and not taking the top. However, the announcer said on one play Sanchez had slipped and the other time he bit on a double move.
Nice job bouncing back as some of the football talking heads on TV said OU would likely lose this game.

So, in reading of the teams plane issues, I discovered the real reason the team played so well yesterday….Because of the long delay, the team didn’t get to do a normal dinner (from coach Tiff I assume), so they had to send out 10 couriers to get as many fast food burgers, burritos and tacos they could to feed the team. True enough. I also think the committee is not above promoting college football (I understand that) and likes to set up huge games, so having LSU and Bama in the top four or 5 creates a big showdown matchup in November.
Both teams (personalities aside) are great football teams. The vulnerability of both teams to me seems obvious. Both are primarily one dimensional teams. Run the big strong back, short pass to the the big strong back, rinse and repeat. It doesn’t take a great coach to figure out, take the one dimension away, make them throw the ball to beat you. Either could and would crumble.
That’s right. I do like LSU’s QB, though. Better than I thought, capable of hitting some big plays downfield. But I think Bama beats them,
