Just wanted to post a quick update, although it’s not much of one, on Oklahoma running back Keith Ford. We touched on it in the Bob Stoops presser thread, but things can get lost in there and we wanted to make sure you all had the latest. Which is we really don’t have any new information.
Stoops said on Monday that he was “unsure” of Ford’s status for the game, but that he expected to learn more this week and would make an announcement once he knew for sure. We’ll see whether or not that happens, but against a stout Texas defense returning Ford to the lineup would be a welcome addition.
Prior to his injury, Ford was pretty clearly OU’s best running back. And while the emergence of Samaje Perine has, for the most part, minimized Ford’s absence, Alex Ross has struggled to run the ball consistently so a healthy Ford would help to relieve some of Perine’s workload and provide another extremely talented and versatile option in the backfield.
– UPDATE: Following Tuesday night’s practice, OU officially announced that RB Keith Ford will miss the Texas game.

I had the same injury as Ford and that’s a 6 week injury, minimum. I’m not expecting to see him until later in the season. Baylor at the earliest.
Can he play corner too?
If we’re not running the QB, couldn’t he play there?

Sorry. That was just too easy to pass up.
I laughed.
Can’t we just get him a medical hardship RS. This years over if we lose another game while he’s out.
We need Dimon and Walker back. No depth in DL except at nose with those 2 out.
Good point.
In Stoopeze that means he will be out at least 3 more weeks.
That stinks. I hope he heals up proper. Meanwhile. I HATE TEXSA
Either way we can assume he’s not going to be 100%.
Just make sure he is healed. Want him around at the end of the season as well as next year, hopefully.
Well we need to scrap the whole pistol formation this week with no ford. I wouldn’t mind seeing the diamond but other than that they need to get under center and give perine and ross a full head of steam heading into the holes.
What happened to the diamond. Did it even get run vs. TCU?
I don’t remember it so I don’t think it could have been more than 3 times.
We can really throw the Texas defense for a loop and come out with Knight under center and in the RBs in the I formation. They have NO film for that. LOL
All kidding aside, I hope Ford gets back soon, the Sooners need him.
ESPN is reporting he has a fractured right fibula, that sounds like something that takes a long time to heal?
