Du’Vonta Lampkin Released From NLI

Oklahoma DT Du’Vonta Lampkin confirmed today, as did his mother, via Twitter that he has received a release from his National Letter of Intent. Thus making him immediately eligible shortly before the Sooners are set to kick off their 2015 season.

It made little sense at this point for Texas to continue to fight Lampkin’s status with the OU Football team and it would appear common sense ultimately won out. Which is best for all parties involved, especially the player and his family.
Only time will tell whether or not Lampkin does indeed see the field for the Sooners this season, but the very fact that is even now a realistic option has to be a good feeling for the young man.

Glad the inevitable has finally occurred.
I know Lampkin and his family are feeling much better with this being settled.

So, do we know if this is a full release by ut’s athletic department, or is it a full release because the NCAA accepted that ut’s admissions rejected him and that made the LOI null and void?

Can you imagine the embarrassment of having signed with fexas followed by the prolonged nightmare of potentially not being able to get out of it? No college freshman should be subjected to either experience.

They knew for the longest time he didn’t qualify and he was leaving, but they held out as long as they possibly could to keep him off the field. Reminds me of when a divorced parent does everything they can to hurt the other, kid be damned.
Maybe he was going to redshirt either way, but they refused to do anything in his best interest once they knew he was leaving.
I hope this dude pisses excellence and plays so out of his mind they have to put him out there — then he destroys the Texas OL.

Absolutely nothing! Yesterday K wrote a story about Eboh and there still hasn’t been a single response. On most stories, it’s just Alex and K replying back and forth. It may take off someday, but for now they have zero participation.
They had quite a few comments on the roster post.
It will be a lot harder for TFB to gain traction for the Texas site, simply because there are several other sights that do a decent job covering Texas from a recruiting and X’s and O’s perspective. There isn’t anything even close as far as an OU focused site.
TFB can hold their own as far as content, but it will take a lot more time than with the OU site.
I still expect a red shirt, but nice to know he’s available if needed.

I think the Tennessee game will if let the Sooners know what they have in regards to the OL & DL. Going up against SEC lineman is a good challenge and they should be able to determine if it would be best to get Lampkin into service SOONER rather than later or if a RS season would be best for all concerned. That gives him a couple more weeks of practice to get fully acclimated and see what he can do.
His video is just so impressive. I always thought he was a little underrated by the recruiting services.

Me too but after you said that I started thinking, maybe it’s best that he didn’t. He might have had to go through the whole decommittment thing and it just would have made him look bad. At least he is smart about it, is taking his time and will make the best decision for himself. Can’t blame a good kid like that, even if he does end up a horn.
It he signs with fexas, I wish him four years of failure on the football field, a college degree, and a wonderful life.

I’m not Obi so I can’t say for certain but I don’t get the feeling that he was using his OU offer to get a Tejas offer. I just think that he really likes OU and would have loved to be a Sooner if Tejas never offered. But if what it sounds like is true, he just really loves what Tejas has to offer.
Best of luck to him. But he will never beat OU.
