– Defensive Line Coaching Search Wrap Up: Just a few quick things to empty out the notebook on the defensive line coaching search that ended yesterday, while we await official word from Bob Stoops & OU.
*Houston defensive line coach Oscar Giles confirmed with TFB last night he was indeed one of several coaches contacted by the Sooners during the search.
*We did speak with one DL coach from a power five conference who admitted there had been some chatter among coaching circles, founded or not, with regards to OU losing DL coaches in consecutive years. Whether that caused a potential candidate or two to pass on the OU job is something only those people could really say, but at least according to the coach we spoke with the turnover at OU was/is something other coaches are aware of.
So regardless of whether or not Calvin Thibodeaux was OU’s first choice to fill the vacancy, he should bring some much needed stability to the position. And in talking with both coaches and players, we continue to hear nothing but great things about Thibodeaux. In fact, the exact same coach mentioned above praised Thibodeaux immensely.
*One other thing that came up among the OU staff during the search was the appeal of a candidate with NFL experience, something that played a considerable factor in Diron Reynolds being hired a year ago. One source close to the OU program shared with TFB a big part of that NFL experience was Reynolds teaching ‘a lot of advanced techniques’ that helped a number of players make significant strides in their development this past season. It was something the players really connected with and something the coaches were looking to replicate with prospective candidates for the DL job.
*We also spoke with a coach at Kansas about Thibodeaux, who also had nothing but good things to say. And not in your “well of course I have nice things to say about him” type of deal either. It was truly authentic praise. He talked about the energy and fire Thibodeaux brings to work everyday, both on the field and in recruiting. He bottom lined ‘Thibs’ saying “he’s a stud” and early on in OU’s search process had told TFB, “it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he (Thibodeaux) gets a shot at it.”
*Fans and media typically talk about individual coaches and how they recruit, but really what makes for great a recruiter is the guys they have around them. You need a group of guys who work together to recruit a player. And I think beyond Thibodeaux’s youth, passion & energy, he will fit in well with the staff and only add to OU’s current recruiting momentum. – (Super K)
– Chip Viney Interview: As most of you know by now, Viney interviewed earlier this week for the CBs coaching vacancy at Michigan. There isn’t a ton to say here. I was told the interview went really well and that while Viney may may not have the experience of some other candidates, Jim Harbaugh (as most know) is big on recruiting and their interest in Viney stems from his ability both as a coach and, unsurprisingly, as a recruiter. There are believed to be three candidates up for the job at the moment: Viney, Aubrey Pleasant & one other candidate whose name we weren’t given. – (Super K)
– Maxs Tupai: The talented 2016 DE/LB prospect is expected to announce his commitment today around 4pm (CT), and he is believed to be deciding between OU, Utah & UCLA.
– Blaise Andries: The Sooners recently offered 2017 offensive tackle, Blaise Andries (Marshall, MN). I caught up with Andries briefly yesterday to see where the Sooners stand in his recruitment, as Blaise holds a number of offers from around the country. Andries said, “I’m going to sit down with my parents in a couple weeks here to try and find dates to visit some schools.” Is OU going to be one of the schools he visits? Apparently so, “Yeah, I’ll probably find a weekend to visit sometime this spring.” – (Super K)
– Nick Robinson: For those of you who haven’t noticed, 2017 TE/WR/DE, Nick Robinson (Putnam City, OK) is another in-state prospect who has seen his recruitment explode lately. He recently picked up offers from Baylor, Tennessee & Oklahoma State. Robinson made a trip to Norman a couple weeks back but did not come away with an offer. However, Robinson tells TFB he is in regular communication with Cale Gundy and that the Sooners WR coach told him the staff will be by to watch him in the spring. After which I suspect a decision will be made on whether an offer is extended. – (Super K)
– UPDATE (11:22 am): OU makes the Calvin Thibodeaux hiring official.
Sooner Nation welcome back Calvin Thibodeaux, your new defensive line coach!

– UPDATE (4:13 pm): 2016 DE/LB Maxs Tupai just announced his commitment to Utah.
– UPDATE (8:33 pm): Not a done deal just yet, but it sounds as though some Michigan people believe this Brian Smith will get the DBs job. So it would appear as though OU won’t lose Viney after all (at least for now).
Chip Viney & Aubrey Pleasant interviewed for U-M's vacant DB post, but hot name I'm hearing is former Philadelphia Eagles asst Brian Smith

OPEN SESAME!
The praise and confidence towards Thibs is certainly giving me more confidence in the guy as a DL coach. Welcome back to OU!
I said it the other day, and I’ll say it again now. DON’T TOUCH VINEY
Bringing the goods everyday! This site is the best.
Truth
Lol, nice. It’s annoying that I have to refresh my page to see new GIFs.
Yeah GIFs and sometimes pictures don’t load well.
Not cool.
It’s Mack Brown’s fault
Its Kishes fault.
If you guys do this—————- it lets us know a giff or pic.
Disqus is kind of the Bud Light of board software.
True True
Chances on Tupai?
100% possible
From the short write up on him today i probably better not get my hopes up to high im guessing?
Not sure, man. But it definitely sounds more in Utah’s favor.
Actually I thought it was 50% possible, 5% probably, 5% unlikely, and 40% could go either way.
50% Either way is my take,
Deano? That you?
Oh, nope. They add up to 100.
expect it to be either OU or Utah. But the kid doesn’t talk to anyone, so if you hear anyone say they have a great feel on what happens today they’re lying
Well apparently his sister talks a little.
Gotcha thanks for the heads up Esco
We announce our DL coach yesterday, and he’s announcing today…I think that’s what he was waiting for. Little nervous that Thibs is not highly-touted enough for Tupai. Either way, we’ll see soon! Hoping for the best!
So sometimes what isn’t said is more important than what is said. In this case, something more than just climbing the ladder driving the turnover in DL coaches?
OUch
That’s what I read into it. My guess would be M. Stoops.
Well, he was sent into a permanent timeout (Press Box Purgatory).
And yet, JKelly praised Mike as one of the big reasons he chose OU. Let’s just say Mikey can be a bit precocious.
Where he flourished and stomped.
And cussed on an endless rampage, thus, entertaining local media all around him.
If there was ever anyone in need of a bottle of xanax at all times, it is Mike.
Just tell that golfing chick (from the video on Daily News) to be his new gf. He should calm down from there.
He’s a little ancient for her. LOL
She might be into older guys or have daddy issues. In which case, I’m happy to let her know that I have time, if she needs it.
Well she is the same age as my daughter, that counts me out.
With no daughters of my own, absent too, are those specific considerations!
Actually she is a year younger than my daughter and the same age as my oldest son. LOL
Golf, She’s younger than my daughter – they could be friends, but I think my WIFE would make sure I was either banished or bandaged if I brought her home.
With no daughters of my own, absent too, are those specific considerations!
yet this community would have nothing but negative to say if Mike had chose to take a Mil and go to TOSU instead of taking the position at OU. There is never a win win unless you win..it all..then its all good
That job, just like the reported LSU interest, were never really on the table.
hmmm
Yeah, MIke has a good resume as a DC (NC, HC experience, Coached under Bob and Snyder). All that means is he makes people’s due diligence list, it doesn’t mean someone is actually interested in him. So his name gets mentioned but it may never even get to the phone interview stage.
After the old purple turtle retires..
Mike Stoops to HC Kstate.
Assuming kst is still in the big 12.
It is a possibility, not one I would take, but it is possible.
yeah, that won’t happen
That is what it appears that some people outside the program think. In all three case there do appear to be other reasons they left (Shipp was fired, Monty wanted to go to the pros, and Reynolds want to go back where he had left his family and never brought to Norman).
Now the question is whether there is another reason driving the speed at which they left?
Yeah. When they create their “pros & cons list”, are the initials M.S. underneath the cons column?
I like the way you think, Bob.
I like the way you type, J.r.
Mmhmm (refresh for image):
You have no idea how often I break out the “Karl voice”. 🙂
Lol, that’s awesome.
Dang, now I’ll be talking like this guy all day and craving mustard on fried taters.
There was these two fellows……..
One of ’em from Arkansas. Get it?
Don’t you talk about that boy. Fact a business….
One of my favorite movies. “Sling-blade.”
“Some folks call it a kaiser blade but I call it a sling-blade. Mmm!”
All had legit reasons. Just sayin ….
I would be worried if we were NOT losing coaches to other (better) jobs. Look at other elite schools (Bama, etc) Most have constant turnover with assistants. Hire good coaches, they leave for better jobs. Not too much different from players, recruit good potential, develop them, win championships, they move on to the NFL
The average stint is between two and three years. The last two totaled three years, so it is a little rapid. At the same time the guy we just hired had been at his last place for only a year. If he leaves in a year though, there is probably another problem than just the nature of the game.
That might be what some speculate but I (with my crimson glasses on) want to believe that it was just Monty looking to follow his NFL dreams and Reynolds wanting to be with his family.
One thing that is apparent if you follow Monty on Twitter is he has no ill will towards OU.
I was going to mention that, he still has OU stuff everywhere, follows the football and basketball games and checks up on players
He secretly misses us.
Good morning, hOUligan!
To me, it’s catch-22: stay too long, no one wants their coaches; don’t stay long enough, there’s a turn-over problem. If you look at it: Ship got fired, Montgomery was lured by the NFL, Reynolds went back to California.
The one in the middle, Montgomery, is the $64 question: but even TFB said that OU was going to have to fight to hold onto Montgomery.
We can’t put this on Mike, in my opinion: look at Saban, Harbaugh and Belichick: you can’t convince me those three aren’t a**es and are hard to work for.
From what I hear, Saban makes Mike seem like a member of the Brady Bunch.
Marsha! Marsha! Marsha!
Yeah, but when you win, a lot, in the biggest games, people tend to overlook that. And no one has won more than Saban in the last 10-ish years (whatever it’s been). I think he’s highly questionable in a lot of ways that Bob is not, but damn does he win.
Good morning, Mark.
Timing, opportunity, and environment are everything.
Saban has always been Saban. Yet, he couldn’t win at MSU, didn’t stay at LSU, couldn’t hack it at Miami, landed at Bama: timing, opportunity and environment: he is a megalomaniac, who wants and has been granted complete control. Everyone overlooks his behavior because he wins, just as they would overlook Mike’s blow up if OU won as much as Bama: that type of behavior is accepted if you win.
Hey,
we beat Bama, once
We own Saban.
1-1 against Saban
Actually, we haven’t lost to Bama since 1963.
We tied them in 1970.
We beat them in 2002, 2003, and 2014.
Overall record is 3-1-1.
Back in the early days at OU, Mike’s demeanor was called “passion”, now it’s running off coaches? Well, at least Kish is getting a break.
In his last year at MSU, Nick Saban led the Spartans to a 9–2 season that included wins over Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State. He won a National Championship at LSU. Bolted the NFL to Alabama and has won 4 National Championships.
Nick Saban gets heated, but he’s coaching the whole way through those heated moments. Mike Stoops just loses it at times and loses any coaching talking points in those moments.
And how exactly would you know this? Were you on the sideline and just heard incoherent screams? If that’s not the case (and it’s not), then how would you back up your claims? B/c it sounds to me like you’re just making things up.

Good OU morning to you, Sam, and the rest of the AM coffee crew. Agree. These guys are all type A and highly driven. Comes with the territory.
Excellent summation Sam. It was Montgomery’s dream to be in the NFL – left OU, would have also left Alabama, tOSU, USC, ND. Reynolds used OU to get ahead at the place he really coveted. The chance may have come early or he may have known all along since he never moved to Norman. I would chalk Reynolds’ move more to Bob not comprehending Reynold’s desires than to a problem with OU’s climate for coaches.
It sounds reasonable to me. Since Reynolds family never moved to Norman in the first place, I don’t think the coaching environment at OU was a big reason for his leaving. The opportunity to get them back together was one that wasn’t likely to come around again very often. I can see why he took it. Professionally, it probably wasn’t the best move.
I would agree. Now, if OU had offered Reynolds a contract for more than a year, and he had taken it, he would have moved his family and he would still be here. But, a 1 year contract is regular for this situation, and in this case it didn’t pay off. His contract was up, and he got offered his dream job (or close to it). I wouldn’t put any of that on the coaches or the program.
The kids in of Oklahoma high school class 2017 is just sick with talent. It seems it’s been a while since this abundance of talent has been looked upon nationally. IMO, TFB has a part in that….
And the few that we know about in 2018 are top level talent. People are starting to take notice.
Question is, do we want them to?
Whoever is on The Franchise from 9:30 on we’re talking poorly on Chip Viney and how he wouldn’t be missed and doesn’t do anything for the team…And they wonder why the fan base is shifting away from most local media. Do your research! As for Thibs, as long as he’s been cerebral to the coaches he’s worked with he should be able to coach up a mean Dline this year. We have some great players on roster and he won’t need much acclimation time in Norman or the University so he can get right to work
Sounds like that person is a complete idiot w/ no clue as to what they’re talking about. And seeing as it was a local sports talk radio personality my response to that is………….SHOCKER! 😉
Lol it was almost laughable
idiot w no clue, local sports talk radio personality. You say potāto, I say potăto.
Le’s include the Jokelahoman,
Man, those ….., well, I’m trying to get a PC word
They are intelligence challenged. How is that for PC?
Damn, right,
That’s the one!
LOL!
Huh? I don’t speak Polish.
Those Poke fans are funny.
What’s the gut feeling on Tupai? Do we have a legit shot at landing this kid?! Sure would be a nice, late addition.
if he comes to OU I bet he plays right away, assuming he can learn the plays. he’s got the talent.
I’ve seen some positive vibes for OU.. We’ll see at 4pm..
Just for future reference. The guy you were asking for OU’s chances w/ Tupai thinks OU is the top school for every kid they offer. Always. 🙂
Oh, i know. but he didn’t even know when Maxs was signing.. I have read that the scout & rivals guys have a good feeling about OU..
There’s been nothing but positives that I can recall, if he wants to leave and OU has a scholly; he may very well come to Norman.
Expect UCLA or Utah. If OU that would be awesome…but that’s a big difference between those 2 for a Poly kid.
Nick Robinson, is Baylor recruiting him as a WR?
Still hope we land a couple of smaller WR’s this year. Just my preference. At least until a few of these big boys start producing.
One thing I didn’t really catch from Super K’s notes was if Thibodeaux will bring those same advanced techniques that Reynolds brought…
No pro experience so unlikely IMO
You don’t have to have the experience to be a great teacher.
No argument from me..but it helps.
All of us enter into new ventures lacking experience. It is only when we exit that we can say we’ve gained that experience. The crux is at some point we don’t have it when we need it but if we don’t get the experience we will never have it.
Doesn’t he have OUDNA?
Yes he does. He has “ex-spUrri-ance.”
There’s no reason why he couldn’t. You have to learn as you gain experience, so any great coach will do that. Time will tell.
Thibs must become a student of the “advanced pro techniques”. He will be doing two jobs; perfecting everything about the techniques quickly, then coaching his players to perfect them. You can’t coach what you don’t know, but I’m cautiously optimistic that he will be vey dedicated to the task.
I agree. It would be great to hear Super K;’s take on this. Sounds like Thibs is a great motivator and teacher but does he have the ability/experience to teach the advance techniques that Reynolds taught? Just curious
well Teddy Lehman said on his show yesterday that D-line is the easiest position on defense to coach…Even if that is the case, you can’t just throw Joe Schmo or Bobby Jack Schmo or Jackie Schmo (clearly) out there and churn out a dominant D-line so I’m still anxious to see how Thibs does
Well he has to know them to bring them. I have no idea if he knows or not. Surely the staff and players will discuss some things they picked up last year with Thib
Thib did say he picked up a lot from Jeffcoat at his time in Houston. That being said ,it didn’t seem to help the younger Jeffcoat at UT.
guys, I’ve been watching OU football closely since 2004 but the past few days I’ve been going back and watching vids of the defense when Venables was here. I didn’t realize how much less attacking the defense had become under Mike particularly at the linebacker position. Linebackers on his defense seemed to always be moving downhill and attacking whereas it seems like Mike’s linebackers (although he’s had the same two ILB most of the time he’s been here) seem to be much less aggressive and more read and react. Am I the only one who sees it that way?
That was a Bill Snyder trait that the Stoops bro. brought with them
you mean read and react? Venables was under Snyder too
I always thought we were striving for..
Iowa Defense
Tech Offense
Matt, you are not alone in your assessment. I hate it when OU is not the aggressor.
In fairness, though, Mike hasn’t had the DL or secondary that will allow him to attack when facing spread offenses. I think you will see more aggressive game plan in the future. My gut instincts tell me that we will see a true four man front 50% of the time.
So long as the job gets done. We led the Big 12 in pretty much every important team defense category by a good margin in conference play. The one stat that glares at me though is opponent 3rd down conversion %. We finished 5th at 41.9%. TCU was #1 @ 29.3% which is a bit scary considering all the guys they had hurt.
http://www.big12sports.com/ViewContent.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=10410&CONTENT_ID=1453864
That is the one stat I want the team to improve on this year as well.
And that is a much more important stat than yards,. The key is getting the other team’s offense off the field without scoring not how many yards you give up.
Yep. 3rd down is the showdown between the OC and DC.
I need 1 play to get my guys off the field vs I need 1 play to keep my guys on the field.
Hey, Jim.
How are you today?
Are you talking about defense or offense?
I’m not big on percentages. They can provide valuable information but they can also lead you astray. There’s a lot I’d want to know before I put stock into it. I mean, quality of opponents changes everything.
Hey Sam. Was talking about our D allowing opponent 3rd down conversions.
The statistics are purely from Big12 play. Took those because you have to in order to be able to throw out all the Baylor garbage stats and level the playing field.
Thanks, Jim.
I believe you’ll see that improve this year. Mike didn’t attack as much as I would have liked. We have the horses on the DL; there were some games I saw a lot of stunting and then it disappeared.
I always try to get my sense of what to expect each game by looking at the defense. I don’t worry about the offense. But on defense, if we’re aggressive up front, the other team plays faster than they want to because they fear the internal clock is about to go “ding.” When that happens, mistakes happen.
I hope Thibodeaux reminds Mike of the way it was when he was here. Say what you will about KU, what they were doing on the defensive line seemed aggressive to me. Given the horses he has to play with, this could be better than it appears.
I think it’s a little understandable that Venables utilized his linebackers as a focal point, in large part, because he himself played that position. When he played, he always preferred being that aggressive guy on the field. It’s not a big stretch to see how that philosophy carried over to his coaching style. I seem to remember our DBs being pretty salty when Bob and Mike first came to town. Every coach is going to have his preferences in style and focal points.
True, but I’ve seen a lot more attacking this season. Our LBs seemed a lot quicker to fill the hole in 2015 as compared to the last few seasons.
Jimmies n Joes not X’s and O’s
definitely better this season than last or 2013 but man when you watch vids of Ryan Reynolds and Tom Wort? Those guys ATTACKED the LOS. Curtis Lofton also but I guess Zack Latimer wasn’t as aggressive so maybe it was just those guys.
Brent loves his LBs. He blitzed them a lot. However, he also used them to “maintain their gaps.” Brent liked to use the D line to funnel the offensive players to the LBs or run supporting DB, as far as I understand and previous players have said.
My issue with Brent is that he blitzed a lot, which was aggressive and dictates, but it can leave a team exposed in the back end. Brent’s defenses were “efficient.” Not necessarily stifling or constricting like Bama’s, but efficient.
Hopefully the last couple classes OU has brought in will change that.
I’d definitely say that the defenses Mike has put on the field the last few years are less aggressive than what we had in the BV’s days. IMO that is related to the offenses that are in the Big 12 now and also to the type of ILB’s Mike has had the last 3 years.

They also played against offenses that allowed for more attacking, IMO.
Get out of position against a spread offense with a good QB and good WR’s, and it’s 7.
His defense looked pretty good against our spread offense the last two years.
I’d like to run into them again when our OL and QB are both up to OU standard at the same time.

My wife is on her way back home. She just landed in Atlanta. I’ve got to clean up real quick and get Metzker’s ex-girlfriend out of here. That right eye, I tell ya, wobbles like a bobble head doll.
See, I have vertigo again.
ROTFLOL!
Sam, you’re daring if not quite logical. From the episodes of the “Women of Metz” that have been aired in the down-time of TFB, I wouldn’t be in the same county with #2 let alone have her in the house. Rabbit in the pot is nothing compared to what she might cut and boil.
Hurry Sam!
I think I found her the METZ ex. This is her being released from Trial
Ha!
That’s Metzed up, Doc!

Good he got rid of the ugly KU shirt.
the magic of Photoshop 😉
Welcome back home coach Thib,,,,Lets go get Maxs Tupai
Never understood the Viney worship on here. We are all replaceable (so my wife keeps telling me)….my guess he is too.
Quantity over quality, I like it
Never understood why Vineyard gets a ton of respect?
Probably the fact that he has brought in half of the Cali kids.
Names? From what I can gather not many of these great “gets” have panned out. Speaks to my larger gripe about being a great recruiter vs being a great evaluator.
Jalen Saunders, Mixon, Kelly, Byrd, Quick and Jordan Parker are a few off the top of my head. We’ve been in on a few others as well just because of him. But if it makes you feel better to disregard his pull in the most fruitful Football state in the country, cool…do you.
I’m legitimately asking a question…didn’t know any names he was directly tied to…he directly recruited all these guys…no full time assistant was involved? An CA has overtaken TX and FLA as fruitful state. LOTS of good talent to be sure, but hard to overlook the gold mine a couple hours down I-35.
California produces (BY FAR) the most NFL, MLB, NHL, Pro Soccer, NBA and even Golf pro’s compared to any other state…and it’s not even close. This is why Rivals, 247, etc. get so much flack from pro scouts. Trying to compare Texas is laughable, especially since there used to be a Texas vs. Cali all-star game and Cali always demolished Texas each year.
Viney is Tony Perry’s protege and has created a great rapport with all of his guys, as well as other local guys. He can recruit, he just can’t travel. Perry is *the* “DB Guru”.
Actually I think FLA had 1 more NFL’er than CA, but I get your point. Thin you’re right on all the other except NHL. CA isn’t close to the northern states as you would assume…quick google search showed 187 from MASS, 154 from MICHIGAN, and 37 from CA…but again I get your point.
I’m on board with the Sooners keeping all good staff members!
Caleb Kelly to start. It’s hard to say who he is directly responsible for since he was a GA and is never listed as the primary recruiter.
Cali kids that have panned out in just the last 2-3 seasons:
Dru Samia and Joe Mixon
To be determined:
Jordan Parker, Michiah Quick, Dallis Todd, Curtis Bolton, Bryce Youngquist (if he gets to play eventually)
Can contribute and improve but possible disappointment:
Hatari Byrd, LJ Moore
He also helps recruit outside of California but he has been invaluable there.
I thought Caleb was on record as saying MS was the main reason he came. Did a DB GA really recruit Dru Samia? Thought I read here that Cale Gundy was most resp. for Joe Mixon. Again, I am asking simply because I really don’t know. Thanks, tho for the info.
Like I said, it is hard to say who he is directly responsible for since he was a GA, but no doubt he has a hand in most Cali guys. I know he played a huge part in getting Kelly to OU and is one of the primary recruiters for the Fresno and northern Cal area. It isn’t that he is the most important person on the staff, it is that finding someone in that position that has any impact on recruiting is a valuable tool.
It is laughable to say that a grad assistant who is not even allowed to recruit brought in the Cali kids! Geez.
You serious, Clark? You clearly don’t understand what you’re talking about, or you’re trolling hard. Can’t tell…
Grad Assistants CAN recruit, they cannot travel to recruit. I won’t even start getting into Viney’s background. You’re clearly playing dumb or just really good at it.

Does anyone remember who the d-line coach was when calvin was here? Would that coach have been able to impart some NFL type techniques to him that he might be able to pass along now?
After all, you only learn stuff like that if someone else has taught them to you. Dont necessarily need NFL experience to be able to teach it.
shipp, although maybe he was just dts……thibs played de?
Played in the NFL, coached a bit in the NFL, so i guess that answer is yes. Excellent =)
shipp was very good for a long time til he wasn’t, hope thibs can at least replicate the early shipp

Dusty is RIPPING into The “Brainlessacs” at the moment and those who have said this was a bad hire…
Listening, good stuff. Wildly misrepresenting what was said here w/ regards to him, we only ever gave him credit for what he said on the radio, but why let something like facts get in the way of pubbing your friend (Thibs) and co-worker (Murdock).
Hey at least you know Dusty reads your site!
Hi Dusty!
http://www.mtv.com/news/wp-content/uploads/buzz/2013/12/demi_lovato_price_is_right_wave.gif
Now that’s funny! LOL!!
Who’s Dusty?
Nevermind, if he’s not on the roster I don’t care. :p
Ouch!
That’s worse than a paper cut.
Well WHEN he was on the roster, he was a beast!
Yeah, he said it was more twitter critics from the site.. That was weird.. I have said it before though, Dusty has the most access of anyone in the local media so when he talks about team related things, you can probably take it to the bank..
And we did. Which is why we credited him for saying it when he did. I mean it’s whatever to me. I wouldn’t begin to question his intelligence of the game or his connections at OU. Have done the exact opposite on countless occasions.
But again, facts tend to get in the way of agendas all the time, or so I’ve found.
I read everything from yesterday and don’t see anything that would make Dusty rip TFB as brainless or make him upset with the site. Some posters weren’t exactly thrilled with the hire, but that’s just opinion. Many more felt just the opposite and expressed support for CT. What’s he mad about?
I did not remember anyone ripping the hire. In fact most of the sentiment was, lets see what Tibs can bring and wait to see how it plays out. Oh well, Dusty never was the calm one, we need a couple more of him on the DL!
Well there was the troll that the mods kicked off.
He of many names and no class. Lol.
We do. He is passionate, loud and large.
That’s your best post in weeks. It’s about time you stopped playing around.
I was taking as many strokes as I could.
LOL!
Golf takes over and schools Dusty. Me likey… 🙂
Nor I. Looked at all my tweets/replies and everything.
Have I expressed my reservations about the hire? No question. Have I suggested there were other guys out there who, at least on paper, appeared to have been “better hires” or the like? Yep.
But nowhere that I can find or recall did I say Thibodeaux was unqualified for the job as I’m being accused of saying. But whatevs, he (or anyone for that matter) can think whatever they want to think and/or turn whatever I actually say into what they want to believe. Certainly isn’t the first time, nor do I expect it to be the last.
Dusty and Ted both have the same problem, trying to transition from
ex-player with OU contacts to journalist with OU contacts. They cannot be looked at in the same light when they pass over to the “dark side”!!
Dusty is Stephen Dale. I figured it out.
LMAO good post
Where is that scum? Did his mother not wake him up?
EASY, Clint.
Dusty’s veins are full of OUDNA. That’s cutting deep to equate him to the Texsa/SEC Lover, that is, Stephen Dale.
I thought Esco and others were fair in their skepticism. There are a few question marks about Thibs’ experience and places he has coached at this point. This hire has a ton of potential but not a lot of substance compared to the other candidates.
First, the actual people that are the Brainiacs never said it was a bad hire. Jordan kept asking questions about his RESUME that no one who was in favor of the hire seemed to be able to answer. But I asked the same question because nothing I could find seemed to suggest he was the top end hire some were suggesting. I simply wanted someone in favor of the hire to give reasons.
Second, some questioned whether he was our first choice and whether we shouldn’t have put more effort into getting a guy with more experience. Given the other names that were mentioned this seemed like a fair question since several had better credentials on their resumes.
Third, there were a couple of commenters who said it was a bad hire, but it’s the Internet at least 5% of the people on a site will hate anything you do. Two or three of those commenters were the same idiot under different names who kept getting himself banned.
The questions were all fair questions to ask about the process. And almost all of the questioners have agreed they will support the guy now that he is in the fold. But I guess Dusty thinks we shouldn’t ask the questions. So much for tough journalism.
So to make Dusty happy I made this picture of the TFB he wants.

Well done, Sir (salute)

Dang Bob, when you get rid of the sarcasm font you hit it out of the park! Great post!
Protect the brand: it’s “The Football Brainiacs” or “TFB”
At all costs!!!!!
I think Dusty is succumbing to what all the radio talking heads succumb to eventually: shock/controversy style monologues/diatribes to generate ratings. I really like Dusty and his enthusiasm, but he can generate extra hyperbole just like any other radio jock. Plus, he’s learned the ratings thing from Traber too and how it works. I fully support the TFB crew and no where did I find them bashing Thibs, so I don’t know what the heck Dusty read? There is absolutely no standing to bash TFB crew comments. Period.
Really hoping for a BOOM today.
Just sayin’.
(You can blame me for jinxing it, if it doesn’t happen…like talking about a no hitter.)
Other than CT?
MT
I think Utah gets one.
Obviously he made his mind up before yesterday and not knowing who the DL coach would be I cant see him committing to OU.
I am afraid you are correct.
Would we put this kid on the DL? He is a monster tackler in space.
6’2 about 260 probably not a LB. Hes a DE
I could see 4-3 DE. But have trouble throwing 25-30 lbs on a beautiful player like that and making him into a 5? in a 3-4. He reminds me of The Hammer.
I actually wouldnt mind seeing him as an ILB but again I just dont think we’ll get him unfortunately. I hope Im wrong.
He would be a great get no matter where he plays.
Then again, he was originally going to announce yesterday. Why delay it, unless it was to talk with B. Stoops and find out who the new coach is? Then maybe even talk directly to Thibs? I think the delay could easily be interpreted as to our benefit.
I was under the same impression.
You will get blamed, trust me.
I say no commenting for the next 30 days should be the punishment. /s
Running stadium steps is preferred option.
OK, now which stadium has the most steps?
Cowboys stadium in Dallas?
Then it is settled, SoonerinLondon will run sprints up and down the stairs at Cowboys stadium until SD becomes a true SOONER fan. Sorry London but whats fair is fair. You brought this on yourself. 😉
LOL! Isn’t there a law agains cruel and unusual punishment written in stone somewhere? That is cruel because we ALL know that he who will not be named, will NEVER be a true fan.
Well Golf, You have to pay to play is what i have always heard.
Yeah, I have heard that many times as well. No blood, no foul!
Wow 47, Sisyphus had no shorter sentence lugging that rock than you’ve given poor S-in-L. There is no measured length in that sentence.
I think Thibs is Boom worthy
Love the Dusty input on the hire!
Go Thibs!
Although I have no idea what Dusty said, Thibs is one of the hardest workers that Stoops has had in his tenure. I love this hire.
PLC, you know you have to share the link, right? LOL!
Suggedtion:
Send Thibs to Denver Bronchos training camp to learn the newest and best DL technigues.
Has the heart personality and enthusian to motivate and recruit.
OU DNA.
Time will tell but would definitely send him to an NFL training camp to learn.
Why?
Maybe Von Miller has some eligibility left?
He may know everything you need to know but I doubt it.
Come on in Thibs, the water is kind of luke warm!
Maybe Dusty is the “Prince”?
47 you’ve been bringing the sarcasm lately. What gives?
I have had to much bad going on in life as of late. Trying to offset it. Been to three funerals in the last 3 months, probate, etc.,etc. and so on.
Hang in there. Keep the positive attitude, and I know you will.
Just think: if you can survive this, there aren’t too many things that will be more difficult.
You’ve got friends here who are waiting to kick the nameless one “around” if it will make you smile.
Well being his board and all, we may want to keep a low profile so we dont get the hammer!!!!! And yeah i know it will get easier its just the getting there that is tough. Things did not go as planned, with what me and my Pops had talked about. Not trying to dump my problems off on anyone, however in all the deaths i have been thru they all come back to one common denominator. “PERSONAL AFFAIRS NOT BEING DONE”
I’m sorry to hear that, 47. I would have never guessed you had all of this to deal with, with how much energy you display on here.
If I may, I would like to offer some unsolicited advise: (1) pray to God for strength and guidance, (2) read the entire book of Psalms, (3) control what you can control, and (4) make today better than yesterday.
Wow Sam, that is some great advice!
Thank you, sir. I’m not all bad.
I dare you to find one post from me saying you are bad in anyway. I would not accuse you of such a thing. 🙂
Well, there was that one time…. LOL!
On your bus ride to band camp? LOL
That made me LOL!
Well then, I can get back to work.
Wisdom and knowledge is always welcome. And some free advice from me to anyone who will listen. Please do not make your loved ones deal with the hunting and searching and wondering if all this has been taken care of. As nike would say “JUST DO IT”. Because you never know when your time comes. I know people dont like thinking about it, but hey guess what your loved ones do not know what you actually want done sometimes.
Noted. Thanks!
Hope it helps someone dear to you someday. 😉
My mother worked for a will & trust attorney for years. Every time I go see her she asks me if I have everything setup in case something happens to me. I have MOST of it done, but not all of it. I need to get on that right quick.
You mother would never lead you down the wrong path i suspect. And yes just because you tell someone what you want done if you dont have it done then there is nothing they can do about it once you are not around.
Yes, I learned that when my grandfather passed away and he told me I was getting his house. Instead it went to my mother who promptly told me I had no right to it. That was 15 years ago and I’m still ticked about it.
It is very frustrating at times. But I keep trying to tell myself it will all work itself out. However i know in the back of my mind it will not. And maybe in the end you will get that house, you never know.
Nope, my mom gave it to my daughter. Which is what I was going to do, but she thinks grandma gave it to her and not Dad. ARGH! And I would never say a bad word about my mom to my daughter.
Of course not. She will figure it out some day.
Well we are here for you at anytime that you need anything!
I never had any doubt that was the case. Thanks Golf.
No doubt, were here for you!
Been there…done that..as have many others here who are ‘of an age’. My dad always told me to hang in there..like a bad burrito…this, too, shall pass.
I just hope it does not hurt as much as that bad burrito passing!!!
Maybe he is spending too much time with Sam and a certain Golf guy?
And golf girl. Hint! Hint!
Wink, Wink!!!!

ROTFLOL! Good one Bob!
Pssst, (refresh for image)
What exactly was Super K inferring when saying that coaches were aware of the coaching turnover at OU? First of all, OU has had extremely low turnover when compared to other programs. And if he’s referring to the DL coach specifically, Monty stated that the reason he left was to fulfill his lifelong dream of coaching in the NFL. Reynolds never even physically or mentally moved to Norman, IMO. Keeping your family in Palo Alto while renting a place in Norman never exhibited commitment to OU on his part. K, are you suggesting that there are other reasons besides the ones given by Monty and Reynolds for the departure of our last 2 DL coaches.
They (these coaches) are just practicing up on their negative recruiting. Like floating a trial balloon to see how it flies.
Negative recruiting, I would suspect.
Coaching turnover? Texas, TTech and aTm wrote the book and filed the patent on coaching turnovers. Ha!
Negativity 101 says that if he’s been there very long say he must not be very good or someone would have made him a coordinator. If he hasn’t been there very long then he is inexperienced and doesn’t know what he’s doing.
Note: This works for both recruiting and posting on Internet message boards.
In your sly way, you are a funny man, Bob.
There is a bit of an inference in the wording that the departure of back-to-back DL coaches, each after only 1 year, caught the attention of other coaches..”founded or not”. I recall something written/said/rumored a year or so ago re: disagreements with Mike about DL play/tech whatever, again, founded or not. Good coaches are going to move up which sometimes means moving on and both are good coaches. Monty is said to have been very interested in coaching in the nfl. Did he leave sooner than he had intended? Did Reynolds ‘hedge his bets’ so to speak in not moving his family out? Did he have his eye on a return to ‘the farm’ all along or just wanted to see how things went at OU? Think it’s safe to say, and K did, the situation has not gone unnoticed around the profession.
https://twitter.com/OU_CoachStoops/status/702584556939948032
I wonder if TFB can ask around why Texas and aTm lose sooooo many coaches annually?
I’ve never seen anything like it in college football in years.
Their losses are fired coaches too.
Don’t forget Tennessee, Butch is getting rid of those who don’t promote the correct culture…any player or coach who has a conscience/moral compass must be beaten and/or fired!! Can’t let recruiting suffer, can we? HAVE SOME CLASS BUTCH!! Hypocrite.
Yeah, I guess trees and forest can co-mingle. Ha!
Per Soonersports.com:
NORMAN — University of Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops announced former OU All-Big 12 defensive end Calvin Thibodeaux as the program’s new defensive line coach Wednesday.
Thibodeaux (pronounced TIB-uh-doe) returns to OU after serving the last five seasons as an assistant coach at Kansas (2015; defensive line), Tulsa (2012-14; defensive tackles) and Dartmouth (2011; defensive line). He was also the defensive line coach at Navarro Junior College in 2010 and served as a defensive graduate assistant at Houston during the 2008 and ’09 seasons.
Thibodeaux played at OU from the 2002 through 2006 seasons, helping the Sooners win three Big 12 championships and make appearances in the Rose, Sugar (BCS Championship), Orange (BCS Championship), Holiday and Fiesta Bowls, respectively. He was limited to five games due to injury in 2004 and received a medical hardship. He finished his OU career with 90 tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss and 13.0 sacks. He was a second-team All-Big 12 pick in 2005, logging 44 tackles, 17.0 tackles for loss and a league-high 10.0 sacks, sixth most in school history.
“We’re excited to have Calvin back in our program,” said head coach Bob Stoops, who has won nine Big 12 titles in his 17 seasons at OU. “He’s a longtime Sooner and was an excellent player for us. He’s gained great defensive line experience coming up through the coaching ranks and was being sought after by other programs. He’ll provide great leadership and direction to our players and will make big contributions to our defensive scheme.”
Last year at Kansas, Thibodeaux tutored defensive end Ben Goodman to honorable mention All-Big 12 honors. Goodman started all 12 games at defensive end and totaled 51 tackles and team highs of 9.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
At Tulsa, Thibodeaux coached a pair of players to 2012 All-Conference USA honors in Daeshon Bufford and Derrick Jackson. The duo combined for 17.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks as the Golden Hurricane finished with an 11-3 mark, including a win in the Liberty Bowl. Thibodeaux was credited with improving the TU pass rush from 27 sacks in 2011 (the season prior to his arrival) to 53 sacks in 2012.
In his lone season at Dartmouth, Thibodeaux helped the Big Green post its first winning season in Ivy League play in seven years. He coached first-team All-Ivy League and first-team All-New England defensive tackle Eddie Smith.
“It’s a dream come true. To have this opportunity is special. It’s home, I know the culture, I know what the expectations are. It’s truly a blessing.”
“When I got into coaching back in 2008, it was always one of my goals to come back home. For it to happen is just remarkable.”
Thibodeaux helped Navarro College post an 11-1 record and win the 2010 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship. The Bulldogs registered 41 sacks while ranking 11th nationally in rushing defense and 12 nationally in total defense. Thibodeaux tutored NJCAA All-American and Championship Game Defensive MVP Toby Jackson.
Prior to his stint at Navarro, Thibodeaux served as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Houston for two seasons, working specifically with the defensive line and the outside linebackers. During his first year with the Cougars, defensive end Phillip Hunt, who amassed 14.0 sacks, was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year.
A native of Houston, Texas, Thibodeaux signed with the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League in 2007, playing in two preseason games.
Thibodeaux, who replaces former Sooners defensive line coach Diron Reynolds, earned his bachelor’s degree from OU in public affairs and administration in December 2006.
He and his wife, Terrika, have a son, Camar, and a daughter, Kamiah.

Way to copy & paste like a champion today
Provided link too.
Wow, full cyber service, you not only provide the link, but save us all 1/10 of a nanosecond by clicking on it for us. Thank you.
No worries.
Seems like every day. Just to annoy and irritate the admin??
I noticed too, perhaps part of an OCD pattern?
You are always welcome to bring info here, but please do not copy/paste entire stories, even free ones. That is somebody else’s work and is essentially plagiarism.
Thanks in advance for respecting this request in the future.
Plagiarism with a link? Try again. Ha!
Yeah, ask anyone. Again, you’re welcome to bring stuff here just don’t copy/paste the entire thing. Try it again, after we’ve asked you nicely not to do so, and we can make your stay here a short one.

It’s been surprising to witness the lack of enthusiasm for Coach Thibodeaux prior to and after the job offer, most likely attributed to him leaving Kansas. Research any coach you find reputable, and look at a history of their career, you’ll likely see some bogeys but a natural progression to better schools. Coach Thibodeaux will do a great job for us.

Guess Thibs was listening when I said he needed to make his 1st call to Marvin. /s
You typed it. So, he probably read it here on TFB. /s ☕️?
If that is true, Coach Thibs is off to a great start and will learn all he needs to know by reading TFB!!!! /s
TFB = OUDNA
TFB = #WeTooDeep
TRUTH! 😉
That reads as if it’s saying that Wilson followed Thibodeaux, not the other way around.
Well, either way it’s all good.
You’re right, both are good signs.
Coach – Marvin, I’ve seen your film and truly believe you have that OUDNA and Norman is the place for you. I’ll be by shortly for some face-to-face.
Marvin – I love your style, Coach. And I think you’re right. I do have some of that OUDNA”…hung up and immediately ‘followed’ Coach Thibs. Not the end.
hOUligan, thanks. I really appreciate you going the extra mile to add context to your post. You’re the man!
Not to say it’s correct. I delve in fiction writing, mostly. LoL True story, Bro. ; )
I see you’ve been hanging around, there’s that word again, Golf.
You got me. I’m hOUligan, and I’m a lurker. There. I said it.
Definitely one of the catchier usernames on here.
Thanks, Sam. Was accused of being a ‘hooligan’ when much younger. It’s kinda stuck over the years w/ those that know me.
That youngman is out of control. He reminds me of Golf, that hOUligan.
Sorry, I take jabs at Golf whenever I can.
As long as you don’t compare me to Metz. Lol I kid…I kid…The Metz and I go back a few years to the Scout board where I was a world class lurker.
Um both lurkers!
I’ve tried those boards and I can’t follow the conversations.
Much better here and some people will even share thier x wifes.
Scout was good..but then TFB came along. No contest in any way, for me. Better content, better analysis, better posters. A#1, G.I.
I like how TFB post a topic and it grows from there. It’s like everyone is in the same room just talking football.
Well except TNTSNBM
TNTSNBM?
The name that shall not be mentioned.
Golf took care of it.
I guess I will continue to explain things to Sam, and he will continue to pick on me. LOL I’m ok with that.
Just follow my lead and be a good sport.LOL
Well that’s a case of Dumb and Dumber.
You are the Dumber one. LOL
And the Dumbest of the two. Split personality.
Or HWMNBN…you know…and STOP or he’ll show up just to say “Maxs isn’t coming to OU”.
Or HWMNBN…you know…and STOP or he’ll show up just to say “Maxs isn’t coming to OU”.

Maybe I should remain lurking.
He’s standing behind me, isn’t he?
He’s standing behind me, isn’t he?
lmao
I think Sam forgets that I can READ! LOL
I don’t remember thinking you can read.
Hey, Pal, what’s up?
Well it seems I have to do all the heavy lifting for you and explain what some initials mean. Sheesh
Those are acronyms: I’m too old. I can’t read that stuff. You may as well put in the same category as Lampkins and Spanish.
Hey, I’ve worked in government contracting for the last eleven years, I can expand words into phrases that aren’t supposed to be acronyms I am so used to seeing them. The best are acronyms made of acronyms. Such as:
GNU – GNU is Not Unix
Ahhhh! Brain freeze.
I gnu you were talking about me.
Just act like you dont see him,
See…I told you not to say his name!!!
See…I told you not to say his name!!!
Maybe I should remain lurking.
hOU Been around along time Sam.
More word play, I see.
More word play, I see.
Thanks for sharing hOUligan!!!
Can I go back to lurking, now?
I am!
You’re what??? You can put your hands down now, cause I can see you.
I’m going back to lurking. About time for me to go home!
About 20 minutes away from a possible major BOOM. Need to stay close.
I have to leave right at 4:00 and won’t get to a computer til after six. If he is going to come to OU, he needs to keep my schedule in mind.
LOL!
I’m leaving in five minutes and won’t be around electronics until about 9PM tonight. UGH!
Of course. But beware of those that lurk the lurker.
Don’t fear the lurker…
Seasons dont fear the lurker, BOC.
Thats blue oyster cult Sam.
Howdy, Metz!!
Afternoon 47.
Needs more cowbell.
Christopher Walken!
Hey now! I resemble that remark!
Sue him for definition of character.
ROTFLOL!
What is he, a lawyer on Paper Chase? He would only be gaining experience because I have nothing of value to give him but practice.
My Pops loved that show. I absolutely can not stand it. Who in the hell has an intermission in the middle of a program? Didn’t that have Mr. Hand in it?
“I delve in fiction writing, mostly”. About your sex life? LOL
No embellishment needed there but I could make one up for you!
Fiction writing . . . True Story . . . ICWYDT
Man, I hate this.
More reason to bolt the Big XII…
College football: Austin wants a bowl game
http://www.cbssports.com
Published: February 24, 2016
Austin, Texas, the home of Bevo, wants to host a college football bowl game in 2016. (Photo by Sarah Phipps, The Oklahoman)
The home of the Longhorns wants to host a college football bowl game in 2016.
Lance Aldridge badly wants a college football bowl game for Austin, Texas, in 2016. “We’re trying,” Lance Aldridge, executive director of the Austin Sports Commission told Jon Solomon of cbsports.com. “We’re trying every way possible.”
Solomon reported Austin was one of three new bowls the NCAA certified last year, but the city decided it was better off waiting until 2016.
“We read the papers and there’s always talk of the financial viability of some of the existing games,” Aldridge said. “Maybe in a roundabout way that could work in our favor with some potential conference tie-ins.”
Interesting article to read. Thanks for posting.
We need more bowl games. Maybe another 15 or so. (and participation trophies for every school in the NCAA)
Yes. Actually, every team should have their own bowl game.
When horns aren’t bowl eligible, UT students can still have a bowl to go and not feel left out.
Very good point.
we want maxs we want maxs we want maxs we want maxs!!!!
“MAX-I-MUS, MAX-I-MUS, MAX-I-MUS….”
With apologies to ‘Gladiator’….
Great name, Maxs. We could all have lots of creativity on this site with a name like that!
A Maximus to go w/ OUr Optimus….Like it!!
Max’s
Oh, sorry. It has an apostrophe, too? Even better!!
No it doesn’t have an apostrophe. But apostrophe lends creative possibilities.
Sure does!!

Well, now. By the time I get back, we should all know.
Wildfires burning in Utah.
Utah fans can’t imagine that a Utah kid might consider leaving Utah for UCLA or OU without money being involved?
Way OT, but if you want to see some world-class s#$% talking the McGregor/Diaz presser is about to start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0Ze86N21ro
Oh this should be GOOD
Yep, this could be better than the actual fight!
haha here we go….
Hammer!
At least when i get home and see post deleted i will know.
If you enjoy the WWE, then this will float your boat. Ha!
The actual fight is all that matters.
Dislike wrestling all you want, but no need to rip on the people who watch it. Been a fan for 30 years, not even close to a mental midget. Thanks
Nothing wrong with the scripted drama of the WWE or those that enjoy it.
It’s those that actually believe it’s not scripted drama, e.g. the mental midgets.
Those under the age of 12 havent thought that since the mid-90’s, when vince came flat out and told you it was scripted.
Nate Diaz, dude is a thug. He is one guy I imagine McGregor’s trash talk doesn’t really work on.
Haha “you fight midgets”
It was pretty comical…Nate really isn’t the best trash talker.
Sounded like he was high…..again. Just slurring his words….I agree on the trash talk though….I think Nick is a better trash talker.
seemed like his heart really wasn’t in it. maybe trying to avoid the mental games McGregor has become legendary for?
Because he knows he has 0 chance to back it up. He’s here for a huge payday, riding the conor money train.
That and hes high AF
wait until they step into the ring, Diaz won’t be quiet
I prefer the Ivan Drago form of trash talking. (cc: @jordanesco:disqus)
Nate is the worst trash talker ever. It is like Ben Carsen trying to talk trash. LOL. All the kid has are f bombs.
I love that “Tupai tenacity”. I hope he likes OU!
Did we get Max T?
Not yet. We’ll know soon. His family is upset at some Ute fans per Twitter, but that might not matter.
4:00 CT
no. 🙁
I hope people are blowing up twitter about him and OU.
I hope people are blowing up twitter about him and OU.
I love that “Tupai tenacity”. I hope he likes OU!
Tupai recruited by Tim Kish and Kerri Cooks. Did everyone see the video of them using him as a fullback at times? Amazing speed out of such a big guy! Athletic as heck. Hope he commits to the good guys! #needin’Aboom

Sweating bullets over Coach Viney. Man I sure hope he does not get the Job and will stick with us.
They should have made room or granted a pay raise. Oh well.
Don’t want to see Viney go, either. He’s been great but the man has to do whatever he needs to do to move his career forward. Greater responsibility and more pay…I wish him the best.
I want to mention something, and if I am all wet with it, I know TFB will push my head deeper under water. But with two DL coaches leaving in back to back years, could there be personality clashes involved with MS? They both left for lesser or equal jobs right? Monty was offered the Assistant DC job here, but left.
That’s a strong possibility BUT, Monty left for an offer he couldn’t refuse and Reynolds left because I think he planned to all along (leaving his family behind being the clue).
Mike is prob not the easiest to get along with though.
I agree, Monty couldn’t resist getting into the NFL, it’s why coaches climb the ladder. Reynolds was probably just trying to help himself get a raise that he might not have otherwise gotten if he had stayed at Standford. Who knows…
Feel like Reynolds knew the opening would be there after a year.
Yeah, it really seems like he knew that he wouldn’t be sticking around for long.
I think Reynolds wife refused to relocate. (guessing)
With an older daughter in that area, I would guess, couldn’t sell the house was probably closer to right. All that Cali property is now somewhat stagnant selling of late.
I was thinking the same thing but didnt want to say it bc “TFB will push my head deeper under water”
But, but my clock says 4:00.
***EDIT****
And Texsa still sucks
You left something off there 47
heh
Fixed
That a’ boy Metz – make sure those young guys know what’s what! And there is no more “what” than texsa SUCKS.
https://twitter.com/DeannaTupai/status/702615895344963584
In that order…
I’m not watching, but I’m assuming that’s a negative on Tupai?
Just looking at the tweet…Im just assuming.
Utah it is.
Good luck to Maxs at Utah
Maxs Tupai chose Utah
Maxs picks Utah.
They played those Utah fans hard.
Wish him well, but Utah isn’t a place to play in the Playoffs.
See you in the NFL because Utah doesn’t even get national press. Ha!
Crap. Oh well.
bahhh
Utah for Maxs. Best of luck to the young man!

We could have used that young man!! Oh well, best of luck to him.
Good luck to MT
All good….good luck to the kid.
Best of luck young man.
Can someone explain why he waited 3 weeks after signing day to make his decision.
he hadn’t made his mind up yet
who’s ready for Spring ball??
BOOMER! !
What’s the good word, fellas?
Well, in my best SD voice “We lost a recruit to Utah…and some…coach…should be….fired for that….and we have no chance….and…and…and….”
Otherwise – things are great being a Sooner!
That’s a pretty good imitation.
Hoping for a big beat down tonight, that’s all.
I’m predicting an ass whoopin’ of epic proportions.
Allowed.
Encouraged.
You following the Baseball game? It’s been said that Cody jacked one to put the Sooners up 7-1.
I have not. The Wi-Fi at my hotel is all jacked up. What’s the score?
You in Ohio yet?
Yep. Got here last night. Staying in Grove City.
Ironic isn’t it, Grove?
Yes. Everyone I know has had a good chuckle. lulz
Okay. Familiar with the area. What is your schedule like next week?
No clue. Found out today we have an extra work load we have to worry about. I’ll know more this weekend. Did Max make it to state?
Dustin, he did not. Thanks for asking. He was seeded 30th but he finished at 18. Let me know about your schedule. I can come down any time except Monday.
Alrighty brother.
7-1 after 6 last I saw.
Forgot!! Just logged in to watch.
Tried to watch the live stats at soonersports. The tab says OU 7, ACU 1, Top 8. The page says “This event has not yet begun.”
Obviously one of those things has to be wrong. 🙂
You never know.
bottom of 8th
Getting the live stats feed now. Cody in the 3-hole. wow
Are there preferred walk-ons in Baseball?
I’m unable to answer that. No idea.
Not that I’m aware of. I do know that they have to deal with a limited amount of scholarships so nobody gets a full ride.
ssdd
I don’t follow
same stuff different day (substitute tuff with hit)
Ahhhhhh
You all got your hopes up. Why?
Well Maxs Tupai picked Utah, so I guess we better fire Kish and Thibodeaux?
Thibs.
Clearly not working hard enough.

Hope it turns out the right decision for him. I wish him well, and appreciate that he didn’t rush on NSD just because that was the first day. I think he would have had great success here and given himself the best opportunity to prepare for the league.
Butch Jones is a lot of words not permissible here…

Glad we beat that guy twice. Good for the player for having the courage to do what is right.
if true, not to mention the thuggish actions of team members to protect their own with no punishment from jones for such actions….again, if true, hope the women coming forward clean them out in court and name all to the public
Congratulations to C.J. Cole, Ryan Spangler, Buddy Hield, and Austin Mankin for earning Academic All-Big XII. The future Dr. Cole was the only conference honoree with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
