…and for some, it will be their only bowl game.

geeze, those fans that don’t like Sanchez are going to be all over this comment.
Why? We were actually pretty good defensively when Colvin was the best corner and Sanchez was a RSFR
true. I meant it more about the people who think Sanchez is terrible and he should know and act like he’s terrible. So, the fact that he’s showing confidence in himself will be like a crime to their family’s honor.
Sanchez is human. He is going to make a few mistakes, I wish some of our fans understood that. He makes far more great plays than he makes mistakes. I like our two corners a lot.
I love me some Sanchez. Can I also wish that he didn’t bite on double moves about 95% of the time?
Yeah, he does like to bite on those moves. But he isn’t the only CB out there that does that.
No, he’s not. I just want to see him improve his game so that he can get a good pro contract and make umpty’leven dollars in the neffel.
LOL! I hear you! I always want all of OUr players to improve. Every week, get a little better than the previous week.
totally agree. I feel like I have to defend him to my section all the time. Mostly, I think people just don’t like his attitude and so they look for times he makes mistakes, without any thought on when he makes a good play.
He made quite a few good plays Saturday!
Exactly! I like Sanchez.
CB’s make mistakes, you get over it and move on to the next play.
Why would you deny them one of the few pleasures that they get to experience in life?
Then they can go kick rocks. I like this kid.
Yep. There’s some sort of sick obsession with bashing Sanchez in a portion of our fanbase and it’s become delusional.
That seems to be a need for some people to bash someone, Kish, Stoops, various players. I think it goes back to potty training.
I think people are afraid they’re going to get the rug pulled out from under them again and they’re looking for culprits. They targeted Sanchez all year last year even though he was the best player in the secondary and it was everybody else that was playing terrible. I don’t think most of our fanbase knows what to look at when they’re watching the game and things are going wrong.
I thought he had an excellent game, and while most corners can be susceptible to a great double move, I seriously doubt that he bites nearly as often as some think.
Only thing I saw on the re-watch last night is he tripped over his own feet and fell down on what should’ve been an easy TD for WVU but their QB under threw the ball and the WR went down at the 5. He gave up the TD on a great PA fake and the WR made a great catch because he was just a step late getting there. Other than those two things he was solid.
I’m tired of the “he can’t tackle” meme as well. He had one bad game against WVU last year with a banged up shoulder and that’s the impression people stick with no matter what. He can tackle just fine.
You want your DB’s to have extreme confidence. If they do not believe they are good, then they are beat before the first pass.

C+ is a lil high
I would say B, he will be better, no doubt
Point of Order: Isn’t EVERY week #TexasHateWeek?
No every other week is #HateTexasWeek, this week is #TexasHateWeek. Just so you’ll know.
Well, just so I’m straight on that.
I try to help.

Very true statement! This is their bowl game big time.
We’re their excuse team! No matter how bad their season is they can say “well, we beat Oklahoma” The players and the coaches will view it as an alibi if they win no matter how bad they stink up the conference again! And it might buy Strong one more year. I would have bet he was safe this year as far as losing his job until they came out with not just more losses but flat out embarrassments. One more might do him in. Let us all pray for a good game plan and the destruction of the arrogant Texas shorthorns!

If Norvell knows Sanchez’s tendencies, we’re going to see a lot of double moves thrown his way, yes? He bites on those quite a bit.
Nah. Put Thomas on Daje, and blitz. Heard will never get to his second read.

Stoops said that this was probably an accurate statement. LOL!
here we go
Bob, as always, starts by complimenting last week’s opponent (WVU) as well as his own team for playing tough throughout.
Mayfield, Mixon guys singled out on offense. Striker, Thomas, Dimon & Evans on defense.
Stoops also singles out Seibert.
Stoops says they are very aware of Texas’ tough schedule thus far, intimating that has played a big part in their struggles.
Stoops on penalties/turnovers: I’m still really angry at our team, disappointed with our lack of discipline.
“Way too many foolish penalties.”
Won’t beat TCU and Baylor with them
OU does need every advantage they can get against Baylor but last I saw Baylor was actually the more penalized team so far
If OU can force 3rd and long and get Striker on Russell OU has a shot
Plenty more teams we won’t beat if we repeat the WVU game in that regards.
Bob came over to the D-line after the two hands to face mask penalties and chewed them out hard.
Stanvon Taylor is OUT for the Texas game.
https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/651080725375156225
Stanvon has been OUT for 2015
https://twitter.com/EricBaileyTW/status/651081072978075648
reminiscing? WTF, lol, Bob needs a dictionary!
Stoops takes exception to a Tramel question about OU not playing well in last year’s RRSO.
“I don’t get how in any win you didn’t play well.”
Really?
If it weren’t for a pick 6 and a kick return TD we would have lost. We did not play well. Bob needs to admit failures sometimes.
That’s new. 🙂
Tramel will talk about OK State playing well in a loss any day though
They always “showed courage and grit and great improvement”- and just had it slip away from them, LOL! Game after game, many times. They seem to get more ink in the Oklahoman even when they’re a nothing team and OU is a ranked contender.
That’s actually pretty fair. You don’t expect them to play well, ever! So when they play well, even if they lose, its like “Oh, they do play something that we call as Football”.
In case of OU, we are expected to be always championship level, so the standards change.
Stoops says everyone in the room is smart enough to understand the differences in OU’s defensive performances week-to-week.
I think Stoops is giving some in the room WAY too much credit.
But Stoops said he expects Bond WILL be able to go, fwiw.
https://twitter.com/ryaber/status/651081829005545472
Stoops says they are very aware of how talented a player Jerrod Heard is.
Stoops says if he has one beef w/ his guys, it’s the lack of discipline at times.

Having had a chance to review the film and with regards to the number of penalties called on the Sooners against WVU – “We earned them.”
Truth.
I don’t have a problem with any of the calls against OU. On the first series, however, they missed a blatant targeting towards Dede. They missed a lot of holding by WV.
Overall, they called a very consistent game, just extremely tight.
You’re right. I just feel like we definitely earned the flags thrown against us. You can only control your own actions. Even if the refs miss calls, obvious or not, it’s just something you can’t control.
Yup. The replays during the live broadcast supported all the flags that were thrown on us.
What is with the delay on FSOK? The broadcast is just now starting.
Gotta give T-Row & McKee some face time 😉
There’s a reason he’s on the radio.
/js
Stoops says they are getting close to breaking a big kickoff return.
Gotta watch those “illegal wedge” setups though. UGH
Played a lot of football, watched a lot of football, somewhat pride myself on knowing what the flag is for before they announce it; but I didn’t even know about the wedge rule. Need to study more.
I am in the same boat as you. My wife said, you don’t know what the flag is for and when they called it she just started laughing. She wanted to know if they had wedge fries on the field.
LOL
I figured several blockers grabbed the waistband if opposing team’s jock straps and yanked to give wedgies en masse.
LOL!
I can tell you one thing: If you’ve ever had an illegal wedge you know how painful it can be.
Stoops says some of the sacks Mayfield took Saturday are on him, gotta get rid of the ball quicker.
How about the 15 sacks this year that should have been and he Houdini’d out of them? I know, he’s gonna defend his OL to some point though…
No he’s right. Certain types of blitzes are the QB’s responsibility. Typically the RB has a blitz to one side and the QB has the blitz to the opposite side.
How about a safety valve receiver for Baker to dump it to? Never saw one.
Actually had some plays where he had the flat option with the RB, but for w,e reason didn’t attempt to throw to it. But in terms of WR, no I did not see it either.
While watching TT get stomped by Baylor I saw the TT QB dump it down to the RB on several occasions. Just wondering why we can’t do that too?
Good question. For an air raid offense we sure do focus ourselves as downfield offense. It seems to me a majority of our plays are designed to be 10 yards or longer. Not an earth shattering observation I know, but could be why we had half the amount of first downs as WVU did; just going off the completion percentage of a five yard throw vs a ten yard throw. I’m no expert nor am I criticizing LR or BM. However, I do feel implementing short cross’, short outs, the flats, your natural check down outlet routes to supplement medium to deep passes would extend our drives on occasion. Otherwise, it would at least help against the blitz if not only tight coverage. Again, I’m no expert nor am I calling up the coaching staff to give them my two cents… Just my opinion.
he missed dallas todd in the endzone
Some of them are also on Riley. Gotta counter attack those blitzes with screens so the qb can “get rid of the ball quicker”.
On several of them, it was on the receivers. When you see the blitz is coming, the receivers have got to cut their routes off and look for a quick pass. Two times I noticed that when WVA full out blitzed, every receiver was going deep and had their back turned to Baker.
If start a question directed at Stoops re: his team with “Were you surprised…” the answer will always be “No.”
So can you save everyone time and either don’t ask it in the first place, or find a different way to phrase it.
TIA
Example:
Reporters: Were you surprised that WV was so amped up?
Stoops: No.
Reporters: Were you surprised that we all showed up so unprepared?
Stoops: No.
https://twitter.com/Joe_Buettner/status/651083676265127936
Not sure if it’s just b/c OU is winning right now, but am I alone in thinking it seems like someone must have had a talk w/ Hoover?
Seems to be a much tamer approach to things for him at pressers so far this year.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.
Trolls disappear in good times……always
https://twitter.com/EricBaileyTW/status/651084320409563136
Stoops: I don’t have a phone policy but if you have one, you won’t be using it. LOL!
That’s the sort of thing that players should just know intuitively from the business-like demeanor of a program.
I think it says a lot about the character of our guys that Stoops has operated this long without a policy in place. I mean, it seems obvious to most, but you have to give credit to the fact that in 16 years, no one has made that mistake.
Tramel goes fishing once again, comes up empty….again.
Tramel is a waste of oxygen.
Carey looks extremely fat today.
LOL…you say that every time.
“We beat ’em (Texas) last year, and I didn’t hear anyone patting us on the back at the end of the year just because we beat Texas.”

Stoops says someone sent him a still shot of the hit on Westbrook and it sure looked like targeting.
Looked that way because it was.
Agreed.
That’s not what he said. He said it looked like the DB’s helmet was under Westbrook’s. AKA, not targeting.
You’re right in that I paraphrased what he said.
And the defender’s helmet under Westbrook’s chin, which is what Bob said he saw in the pic sent to him, would be targeting.
I might’ve misunderstood then. I thought he said the hit was more into the shoulder and not targeting.
If you didn’t see the hit, I understand. But anyone with any understanding would say it was textbook targeting.
I was about 100 ft away I’d say. In real time it looked like targeting to me. Others next to me said it looked pretty clean/low. That’s a bad man either way.
Top of the safety’s helmet to the side of Westbrook’s. If you get the opportunity to see it in replay it’s obvious. When I saw it in real time it was obvious. Didn’t get called, so there’s nothing to see here. Westbrook took a couple of pretty good shots out there. Pretty gritty.
I’ve seen way less called. Throw the flag and review it, no foul then no harm done. Move on to the next play.
That was my thought as well. The one review-able penalty and they didn’t bother. C’est la vie.
Yeah, I really think since it was their best player and so early in the game was the reason it didnt get called
With 4,594 flags in a game, this is one that didn’t get thrown. Absurd.
Gotta agree with MoJo in this one. I believe the defender left his feet (launched) as well.
That is not “textbook”. The defender got at least some shoulder, if not quite a bit of shoulder, then carried forward into the helmet. I’ve seen much more blatant helmet to helmet hits than that.
I’d have to go read the rule to know if it should have been called or not, but I wouldn’t call it blatant.
I didn’t see any shoulder contact at all. Straight up helmet to helmet both live and replay. If you saw helmet to shoulder, then so be it.
it is very much textbook:
No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, fist, elbow or shoulder. When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 2-27-14
Defenseless player—a player not in position to defend himself.
A receiver attempting to catch a pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier.
You hit a receiver in the head with any part of your body, its targetting, period, end of story.
makes absolutely 0 difference that he got some shoulder or not, he gets ANY contact to his head, and its targetting.
I think the “textbook” aspect comes from the fact that the guy turned his head down, causing the top of his hat to be the part closest to the receiver.
True. You cannot lead with the helmet down.
just so people have a point of reference. spearing/targeting/helmet to helmet…. whatever you want to call it, this is it. textbook example
Bob clearly stated that if the picture he was sent accurately reflected the hit, it was not targeting. He went on to say that it was possible that it was the after effect of the hit that put the helmet in that position, but if the photo represented the hit he agreed it would not be targeting. He is waiting to hear from the league office.
I thought it was definitely targeting when I first saw it and again on replay.
Targeting or not… Westbrook got rocked on the play. I know me chin would need to be readjusted every day for about a week.
Give Westbrook credit for fighting through it to make plays. When Florida did this to us at the beginning of the game our WRs were short-arming the rest of the game. It made a big difference in the outcome.
I definitely give him credit. Even through the dude didn’t reel in the catch, he came back and made some plays.
I watched it again last night and it was the very definition of targeting. It was all helmet to helmet and it came right up under Westbrook’s jaw.
Something was going on between Westbrook and their secondary out there. In the re-watch last night, Worley and their safety seemed like they were trying to hurt Westbrook. I saw 3-4 cheap shots they took at Westbrook, and Westbrook returned the favor when he got flagged for a PF for his cheap shot.
I noticed it at the game. Lot of ‘chirping’ as well.

Is this related to JT?
Yes.
Thanks!
Yes, it was.
Appreciate it. He had a solid game. My favorite play of his was not an interception. It was when he appeared to be beat down the sideline, found the receivers eyes, increased his step, eliminated separation, and “nearly” intercepted the ball.
But that’s A GOOD THING for sure. Message received!
that’s a wrap
Thanks J
no prob
Hey KJ got any insight on the injuries to Jordan Thomas, Charles Walker and DeVante Bond?
Late reply, I haven’t heard anything about those 3. Looks like everyone is working through injuries though to play in this game. I doubt they would miss it.
Thanks Jordan!

Some people are fair weather fans
Fair weather texsa haters? – that’s just awful, no excuse for not being a year-round shorthorn HATER. It’s part of that Sooner DNA thing!
You’ve done a great job with the press conferences all year, Jordan.
where was Tramel going with his questions…..?
guy thinks he is setting a trap I guess.
Did anyone ask Stoops why our punt returns are absolutely horrible?? Didn’t think so!
