I second that notion!

Probably going to be a common theme today.

Yes
And Baker is the best quarterback!

That’s a great one liner
Mayfield is a Johnny Football, with a good attitude, a good arm and a good leader, and a….
he is Baker Football
Shake and Bake (er).
Baker Ball
Not a poke at you, Rick, but I sure wish people would quit making this comparison. I cringe every time a commentator does it. JF is a punk, on and off the field.
It is the perfect analogy as far as on the field play. Rick said Manziel with a good attitude.
Baker is doing some of the same kinds of things as Manziel. I can’t stand A&M and Manziel, but it is a good comparison of Baker’s play.
Manziel was a selfish punk. Baker is a very high character team first type players — the opposite of Manziel.
I’m in full agreement with you. I guess my lame attempt to point that out in sarcasm. My honest opinion is Mayfield is a much better person/football player/leader. Should have said that.
Again, Rick, I wasn’t poking at you. Sorry if it read that way.
I agree that Baker is a gamer and can make things out of seemingly nothing. I just cringe when Mayfield and Manziel are said in the same breath.
It’s all good!
I think Colt McCoy would be a much more accurate comparison as far as their games. Only Baker is more athletic and more charismatic.
I agree, I do think Mayfield is more talented than Colt, but Johnny had charisma, IMHO he didn’t have much of anything else. I never could get over his gangsta attitude. Baker seems to have that charisma without the “wish I were a rap star” mentality.
Someone less computer challenged than I should make a BM photo with a Giant-Sequoia on his shoulder.
Sorry Baker, but I missed the chip on your shoulder…I was looking at something else
Those melons look citrusy……
but I did watch the game though…my wife…you gotta love her
That’s your wife? For some reason I don’t believe that.
Women like that (these days) don’t get married … they just keep riding
the carousel before they hit the wall until they can’t upgrade anymore
… so yeah, RD, I don’t believe him either.

I mean, are they expecting his teammates to say no?
While it is more in depth than their normal questions, I agree with you that it makes no sense to ask a question that everyone know how it will be answered.
Sterling should also be a Heisman candidate.
https://twitter.com/john_shinn/status/666309754994581504
Me too.
Ya think?
Jordan Thomas has proved me wrong. At the beginning of the season I was so frustrated with how he played. But now he is playing excellent football. I mean shutting down Corey Coleman would seem impossible but man that secondary has improved.
I think Doctson plays on Sanchez’s side. Id rather see Thomas go against him.
I agree
Semantics, we have 2 good CBs. Pick your poison. I do think JT is excellent in coverage.
Thomas said true freshman John Humphrey played the role of Corey Coleman in practices this past week.
https://twitter.com/Joe_Buettner/status/666310513329090560
That’s the attitude I wanted to see. Every week is win or go home.
Boomer
that’s it w/ the players, just waiting on Bob now
Nice vest.
here we go
Ok guys…lets have some good relevant question today please…
Bob opens, as usual, complimenting the play of his team from the previous week. Singles out Perine, Shepard & Mayfield specifically.
Stoops complimenting the defense saying they counted 8 Baylor possessions that were three & out or less.
Which tied their entire season up to Saturday. OUtstanding job!
How can it be less than a three & out? lol
Turnover.
oops of course….didnt sleep much this weekend plus I have a rather low IQ.
We know. /s
Lol its painfully obvious as much as I try to hide it.
LOL! You do just fine.
TY sir that just earned you one upvote.
LOL! Why thank you.
LMAO. I figured it was some form of alcohol poisoning from the celebration.
Two interceptions and a fumble recovery
I wonder when the last time Baylor had that many 3 and outs was? Bet it’s been awhile.
Certainly not this year, that is for sure.
https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/666315608083070976
Bob moves on to TCU, but I don’t suspect those in attendance asking the ?s will follow suit
And your typical waste of everyone’s time opening salvo from Eschbach
Hale the follows it up w/ a doozy of his own.
That was dumb…what a way to open up
Par for the course
https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/666316056890384386
Stoops confirms Matt Dimon WILL be available for the TCU game.
Stoops says he isn’t sure if Zack Sanchez will practice today, but he is expected to play on Saturday.
as per usual 😉
Sanchez was limping in the tunnel going into the locker room after the game. Same ankle..
Stoops says he will submit the helmet-to-helmet hit on Joe Mixon to the league office.
Yeah, with all the crap going on Saturday, this one probably made me about as mad as any. An a ref standing right there.
That was completely unacceptable to be missed in a game that was so incredibly chippy. There was no other intention but to hit Mixon in the head.
Another one that was hard to detect is when one of their players (I’d have to watch replay to get the number and name) tried to bend/break Mayfield’s fingers in one of the pile-ups. You could see it in the pile and then Baker got up and was stretching his fingers and saying something to the player.
Baker actually said something to the Ref also. I was wondering what it was about.
It is fairly rare when both helmet and mouthpiece go flying. Yeah, hard for the ref to see.
Especially when the reg is STANDING RIGHT THERE!
it was the ear piece that flew out..but I’m with you..it was a no brainer
https://twitter.com/EricBaileyTW/status/666316842789707778
personally hope he does – having no doubt that we can beat them regardless ..
We look better if he is ..
I don’t believe Boykin can beat us with just his arm. If his running game is hampered, I don’t see the game being close.
OU blows out TCU with or without Boykin.
Stoops says he felt the biggest difference in the game Saturday was the ability of OU’s secondary to cover.
https://twitter.com/ClarkeSachs/status/666317080032100352
Stoops says as far as he knows Orlando Brown is healthy. And reiterates exactly what I said in the tweet below.
https://twitter.com/Jordan_Esco/status/666296866854727680
Samia I hear is dinged up too. May see him in a JJ Watt type elbow brace this weekend.
Here’s hoping they both recover very quickly.
He did great against Baylor’s dline. Very Very Bright future ahead of him.
https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/666317736780423168
I think dimon should be suspended fwiw.
why?
I don’t
he could be on suspension and Bob would never tell .
By that logic every penalized player should serve a suspension. He was punished. Move on.
Not at all. Dimon made a choice to kick a player in the head. It is what it is. It is not a facemask, a clip, or hands to the face. It was dirty and outside of the game. It was the low-water mark for me in that game. True, there were dumb plays, but kicking a guy in the head is a Suh move. Bush.
And he was penalized. Please don’t drag this PC BS into football playing.
PC BS? What about this is PC? Those kind of things have zero place in the game. Penalties that happen as part of the play, even if they are dumb, are different than the kick/punch to the head.
And he was penalized and ejected. There is nothing more to do, unless you are trying to appease the PC SJW’s.
Not if you’re trying to make the point that those plays are unacceptable. And it has NOTHING to do with being PC. I am FAR from a PC…whatever-the-heck-other-acronym you threw out.
Normally I agree with you, but Stoops track record on player behavior lets me trust his judgement.
That’s a fair point and I agree that stoops handles punishments fairly. In this case I think that a one game suspension would be fair. Now as I stated I don’t think dimon should be starting period, so if stoops decides to play dimon but not start him, and gives more PT to the other players, then I’m good with it because that is still taking something away.
Dimon and Walker (Walker is better) are a good combo on the left side. We had to pull Tapper over there with Dimon out. He served his 2+quarter suspension. The force just wasn’t there imo to warrant more punishment…keep these guys fresh
BS, why should Bob penalize his players when the opposing coaches encourage that kind of play, Briles for example.
You are completely overreacting. It was just a penalty. It was handled and over.
I really don’t feel I’m overreacting at all. I’m just making a statement on what I think. If you think I’m overreacting, you must loathe the NFL with all your being. I, personally, don’t see this issue as cut and dried as you do. Agree to disagree, I guess.
I am one who agrees with you, even if you are a Chief’s fan (Denver fan here…Lol). I have high standards and expect those who represent my alma mater to do it honor. That was not an honorable action by Dimon, nor was his response to the crowd. I was also one who never wanted DGB to play at OU. I think he used up every chance he should get before he ever set foot on the OU campus, and boy, did I get excoriated for that point of view.
I want OU to win as badly as anyone here, but I am not a win-at-all costs fan. Great play on the field does not earn anyone a pass from poor behavior in my book. Not everyone here shares that point of view. We gave to agree to disagree sometimes.
Sounds like Bob’s still handling it. Knowing Bob’s track record, this tells me Bob sure as hell isn’t okay with it.
SJW = Social Justice Warrior
The penalty was more dirty than most targeting penalties I’ve seen. I don’t remember exactly what the time was in the game. But after being ejected he starts yelling obscenities at the Baylor fans. That part of it tells me he wasn’t sorry.
My stance is that the DL played better without him.
The DL did play better. I’m not that high on Dimon. I understand the idea of a punishment for his actions on his way to the locker room but don’t think there is any requirement for a player to feel sorry for their actions. I would also point out he was responding to the fans who were laying it on thick as he left the sideline. Not the smartest move, but I get it from a competitive kid in that environment.
Then Orlando Brown Jr. should be suspended as well. His penalty was more dirty imo.. But since we absolutely can’t lose him I guess you won’t mention that. But since the DL played better without Dimon, then we can make an example of him, right?
Orlando brown driving a player to the ground right? Dumb penalty but it’s part of the game and normally doesn’t get called. If the game wasn’t so chippy then that probably isn’t called. Kicking someone is not part of the game.
And yes my personal opinion is that dimon should not be starting. Therefore if he does something that is a gray area then I’m going to weigh in on the side that says he should be punished. To me though this wasn’t a gray area. If he threw a punch he would be suspended no questions asked so why is a kick any different?
Well, you just admitted a bias and that’s no way to discipline anyone.
Stupid thing from Dimon but those Baylor players must of done something to really piss him. I just don’t see him kicking their player for no reason.
Yah, it was a chippy game and who started that?
Why wasn’t Oakman suspended for pounding an opponents head with his fist in the game just before just OU.
Get over it … it was just part of the game.
I would absolutely call for Orlando’s suspension if he did something dirty like Dimon. I didn’t see a dirty play with Brown. I liken it to a DE who’s barreling full speed on a QB and the QB gets it away a split second faster than he anticipated and can’t stop his momentum in enough time so he gets flagged for roughing the QB. No malice involved. I didn’t see anything malicious in Orlando’s play. Kicking a guy in the face on the ground is nothing more than a malicious act.
Where is your freaking outrage at the Bear who grabber Nila’s face mask and rip his helmet off of his head?
Where is your freaking outrage at the bear who took Mixon’s helmet off with the crown of his helmet?
Baylor is as dirty as they get and they deserve to get it right back.
I’m not outraged by dimon. If that’s the sense you get from my comments then I suggest you look elsewhere. All I’m saying is ou is above that kind of behavior and stoops has always been a no nonsense kind of coach. I often have my Crimson colored glasses on but in this situation I’m not giving the guy a pass because “it was Baylor and look at what they did”
I was pissed about all of these. But I still don’t justify Dimon’s bad behavior with Baylor’s bad behavior. Beating their ass with class is the best revenge.
They did …if I were Stoops he’d sit the 1st half
People call things PC when they cant make statements without being checked.
You see the penalty far differently than me. I saw him kick his foot free and it came back down on a player. It’s not like Dimon went all Karate Kid out there. Besides, what is the point in the NCAA ejecting a player if they will be further punished later?
His foot was not being held. That’s how I interpreted it would happen from reading this board BEFORE I watched the game. As I watched last night, I was shocked to see him forcibly kick his heel downward.
There was no force behind it. That is just silly. A man that big, in that position would hurt someone if that kick was forceable or malicious.
That is what it looked like to me. And he was trying very hard to state his case. If he felt guilty, I would assume he would have just accepted his fate. Baylor is a very dirty team, and that reflects directly to their coaching staff. I looked at the replay and though he was trying to free up his leg to keep from getting it pinned in the pile. I could be wrong and it would be far from the first time.
Afterward as well, one of their players grabbed his leg and tried to shove it into his face. He was trying to tweak his leg, plain and simple.
That’s exactly what I saw as well.
You are exactly correct and that is exactly what happened. That is why I pointed to the Zach character above that he had no clue as to what prompted the kick. The Baylor player was most likely twisting his foot when Dimon was trying to get up off the ground.
If Matt had a history of this stuff as Oakman has then some additional discipline might be in order. To my knowledge Matt has been a model player.
I will agree with the Head Coach – he knows more about the penalty and the event than I do even with replay and HD TV.
Agreed.
Nope.
I think he should be sent to death row fwiw
My biggest problem with the fouls in the game was that more didn’t happen to Oakman. Would like to have seen Orlando jump on him. But glad he was shut down for the most part.
Didn’t Orlando jump on him and get a penalty? Or was it someone else?
You are absolutely correct. Bob suspended him for the whole second half. Glad Bob saw it your way.
So if oakman does the same thing you would want him ruled ineligible?
Oakman has a long history of cheap shots or have you forgotten the Trevor Knight hit by Oakman when Knight was on the ground. And yes, Oakman should have been set down for a game or two after that cheap shot.
I disagree. He made a mistake and behaved poorly, perhaps a few stadium steps for the reaction to the crowd. On the field, Baylor was doing stuff and it just boiled over. Emotions and adrenalin were running high. Of course, if he does it again, then a suspension might be called for, but not on the first offense.
Why?
With all the crap the Baylor players were pulling they deserved to get he crap kicked out of them. Besides you don’t know what was going on down at his feet. You act like a thug you deserve to be treated like a thug.
Others acting like turds doesn’t grant you the right to act like a turd. Keeping your composure when your opponents act like douches is a class move and their bad behavior only contrasts with and highlights your good behavior. Plus, keeping your composure keeps you from penalties that cost us in that game. We should have scored more and them less, but the stupid penalties cost us.
Nice opinion, but I disagree with you.
Agreed. Part of being an adult is keeping your emotions in check and thinking about your words and actions before you let out something you shouldn’t. You have to think about how your actions reflect on others around you.
I honestly thought he was just trying to get free of being upside down, maybe I saw it wrong. Meanwhile the “Fbomb” he dropped on the fans on the way out might have been lacking some judgement, but…. I could only see the faces of the fans pointing and yelling at him, couldnt lip read what THEY were saying to HIM. Football is a sport that is often times played with hot blood, THIS game was an epitome of that. All them boys were running real hot, the fans were running hot, and some bad decisions were made. Kid got punished, he lashed out at what were obviously (and from what I understand notoriously) nasty to him, and he clearly felt he had done nothing intentionally wrong, or he wouldnt have tried to defend himself to Bob on the sideline. Bob knows these boys better than any of us do. I fully believe that if BOB thought Dimon was out to HURT someone or play DIRTY… kid would be facing more than just a suspension. As far as Brown goes… he drove a dude into the dirt… mmmkay… This is football. Its not a hand-holding contest. Guys are gonna go a little to hard. God knows Baylor had their share of cheap shots against OUr guys that didnt even get called…. Lets pretend that we dont know the whole picture and cut the guy some slack.

Baker M. = Mayfield sure, but also MOXI –
Heart of a champion as well.

Stoops speaking highly of Dimitri Flowers’ play of late.
And well he should. The kid has been really good since the texsa game, where most players were off.
Our second toughest receiver IMO.
as well he should
https://twitter.com/Joe_Buettner/status/666319394285428736
Bet it’s really tough given his relationship with Shep.
Absolutely! That will be one of the Sooners I miss most in the crimson and cream!
Agreed. Here’s hoping we send him out in style. After he’s done with his stint in the NFL, I hope he comes back to Norman. I’d love to see him as a WR coach.
I completely agree with that idea!
You mean you want HIM teaching our receivers how to catch everything in a 2 mile radius???? sign me up.
It would be cool if Stoops was out there waiting on him when he comes out.
Of all the players for OU that I have ever seen and missed at graduation…. Roy, Rocky, Jason, Teddy, Adrian, Sam, Ryan, Jermaine….. such a long list. I think I will miss Shep the most.
If you’ll allow me a minute.
These sports writers, be it on social media (mostly) or wherever, who think they’re also stand-up comedians drive me f’ing crazy.
Okay, rant over. Carry on about your day.
Never got over the grade school attention they got from producing fart noises and burps.
In fairness Jordan, you seem to think that every reporters questions are ignorant. My rant over as well.
But what if they are?
They are! I’d rather listen to KREF than the Sports Animal majority of the time. At least they stay on topic instead of squawk about music and movie trivia.
Also the writers who think they are “on-air” talent. LOL
Or…the local media that picked Baylor to win…smh! You know who you are!
Eschbach and that hideous accent of his needs to kick rocks!
Carey looks horrifically fat today.
/thread
The one-liner I wait for each week.
He has a face that only Holly Holm’s left foot could love.
his face should fire its trainers and prepare for the fight better before the rematch then…
Although I understand the questions about it (playoffs)…but all of it doesnt mean crap unless we kick the crap out of TCU and OSU. Do that and everything else will take care of itself.
Refocus now!
https://twitter.com/john_shinn/status/666321176101130240
Stoops says they’d like to have a crowd reminiscent of that 2008 Tech game.
I’d like the final score!
The team deserves it for the game AT Waco. Besides cheering them on against TCU, some serious pre-game appreciation by 85K would be nice to add to those great fans that were in the Waco mini-stadium.
I loved hearing all the Boomer Sooner chants during the Baylor game.
Waco mini-stadium, lol
It’s a cute little stadium
If our home crowd can’t get up and make some noise for this game and all that it means, then that’s just sad.
Should we try something different and have a ” White Out ” or Stripe the Stadium?
could we maybe… Jump Around???
I was at that game… Good times.
“charged up” 😉
Stoops says given the way his team is playing, he’s glad they don’t have a bye week to deal with in the midst of things.
Stoops says it’s his preference to have a presence (i.e. be playing) that first week of Dec.
I thought he said last year that he’d rather have that week for recruiting?
When your season sucks it is nice to have Dec off to recruit. But now that the season is going a lot better than most of us had hoped for…… well heck let’s go for it all.
I want one more question about texsa so I can watch Bob start throwing things. 🙂
Did anyone ask about what kind of snacks the team had on the bus? Inquiring minds want to know!! 🙂
https://twitter.com/ryaber/status/666322418093260800
2 swords? Or 1?
and that’s a wrap
Mercifully.
Really? Someone asked about getting rid of the visor because it was raining??? WOW
I hadn’t noticed before Darlington twist his head right before the snap ? ?
me neither
I think he’s been doing that since the Tenn game. Helps them keep the snap when they can’t hear each other.
Ya he started it then.
Yeah. He delayed the snap one time just in case someone thought they had his snap timed. Baylor didn’t jump off side. But it was still a good idea: something else for the opposing team to think about.
Bob Angry vs Baylor
Love re-watching the highlights! Don’t understand why, on Zach’s interception, that he did not follow the 3 blockers he had in front of him on the left side. May have gone much further on the return. I think Zach got SO excited that got the ball, that he panicked somewhat. Great momentum shift!
agreed. don’t know what he was thinking (or not thinking) on that
A little sorry to see Bob get sucked into “top 4 promo,” which he obviously wasn’t too comfortable with either. But I guess he’s trying to appease the local press and maybe get them started on the story if they want to. I much prefer his “nothing matters if we don’t take care of business this week” approach. Other than that, business as usual presser, didn’t spot any nuggets worth comment. Watching the reporters transparently attempting to get quotes for a story that they’ve already written is always a bit trying, but that’s what these things are for, I guess.
I think it is about time to dust this little jingle off… https://youtu.be/lgbX7_VMIUY
Just as awful as I remember it back then… LOL.
