Thanks for posting links to the radio broadcast! Can’t bring myself to buy the game on PPV or on soonersports. It’ll be good to hear Sooner Magic happen realtime!
To many penalties I hate late games that’s the reason…undisciplined equals poor coaching sorry have to call it like I see it…Mayfield is scared to death
(If youve never used these, there are alot of ads and crap. never click anytning except to close it, and even then it takes multiple times. pop ups, pop up, but keep closing them, and then once your video starts, you’ll be good to go. But dont “sign up” or “update” or anything of that nature…)
Didn’t want to pay for it and was watching the gamecast on EPSN to keep up with plays, etc. It only worked for about two series, then stopped updating. OU on PPV = mega 🙁
Yeah, totally agree. I spent $50 to see the game on ATT, but it’s better than getting drunk with the alumni group then driving 30 minutes home risking a DWI.
my mate’s mother makes $98 consistently on the tablet………After earning an average of 19952 Dollars monthly,I’m finally getting 98 Dollars an hour, just working 4-5 hours daily online….It’s time to take some action and you can join it too.It is simple, dedicated and easy way to get rich.Three weeks from now you will wishyou have started today – I promise!….HERE I STARTED-TAKE A LOOK AT…..xjn..
Dude, JY, yes. Your insight is correct. Not sure what to say to this … but Ketel One is kinda permeating my thoughts right now … probably best to keep quiet.
You don’t have to pay me 5 million to see that you can’t run against this D…this so sad in so many ways..I’m sorry but there is some kind of disconnect with this program…
Thanks for the response, my cable provider out here in Washington State didn’t offer the game and I wasn’t going to pay over $50.00 to watch it online. I understand sometimes DBs are going to get caught peeking, but when it goes for a big play (and it sounds like it did) it frustrates me to no end.
I am actually curious though if they’d consider switching if Baker never gets anything going… I’m saying like, thru halftime or 3 quarters.. I Baker really, THE MAN?
I don’t think he is. He was average at TT he just can get people to like him but mead didn’t make a play for him and I thought he was starting because guys respond well to him.
Worst first quarter of O U football I’ve ever seen…I just don’t get it…Akron had nothing to prepare for no game film and they are kicking our ass.. there has to be a coach out there who will take 1 million a year and put a better team on the field than this
In this day of college football, you can’t be paitent. In order to have any positive outlook , we needed to blow the doors off a totally mismatched football team!
Outside of Westbrook, where baker threw the ball. To me, it does not look like Baker is reading thru to his second receiver. Its like if his first isnt open, he’s freaking out.
I became an OU fan when at the age of 9 or 10 I saw Thomas Lott playing with his white and orange bandana…I’m now 53 and have lived in SoCal my whole life…Yes there are tons of OU fans out here
Stupid Andrews was uncovered on the right side hes huge he takes two steps and its a first down Mayfield never looked at him…I’m getting pissed and sure u are as well
Couldn’t find the game on the radio on iheart radio from an Oklahoma station so I’m listening to it from an Akron station. Kinda interesting to hear their take
They were working on him earlier. He had gotten hit in the face on his reverse earlier in the game. Probably just getting bandage up . Got hit in the mouth I believe.
We handed off to our running back (Mixon), who hit the crease for a nice gain and I started hollering “go, Joe, go!” Something seemed oddly familiar about that… after thinking about it a second, I remembered the famous Joe Washington run at Missouri. Go, Joe, go!
Right!? There’s no stinking way ecu had awesome lines while he was there. These guys need a minute to get up to game speed. Can’t just roll out of bed pancaking people
Or Oklahoma has tons of talent and Akron doesn’t. And it’ll take a second or two to iron out some rust….maybe just maybe. And maybe some of you guys would be better served watching spelling bees or something
It’s only been a half of a game into the season
Need to time to gel.
St. John is really slow to react to an outside rush.
Just missing game experience. Speed of the game takes time to learn.
Right???
Exactly. That was my way of saying this game won’t be an issue once it heads down the stretch; next week, however, might end up being a pay check week for the coaching staff to get them better prepared for Tenn.
Hey give it some time before we all freak out.
Seriously,
It’s the first time these guys are starting.
Akron is playing the run.
We have things to work on sure.
Let’s see after half
I’m at the game (sporting my tfb shirt I might add lol). D looks decent. Alexander looking solid. O….ehhh….hope we come out blazing next half or I’m gonna be really worried about next week. Special teams…penalties need to be cleaned up.
-At least 4 td drives.
-Better decision making by mayfield.
-Better running lanes for rb’s.
-less penalties!
-better punt return effeciency
-No more punts
-No more Zips scores.
Not sure if even have the courage to go to a children’s hospital if I didn’t have family in there. That has to be one of the most gut wrenching experiences but at the same time a huge blessing for guys like Nila and BS who go there often. One of the best things about how BS introduced those players to that experience.
Wanted to go to Baylor, and was all set to go, but mom wouldn’t sign his NLI. Wanted him to go to OU. Article on Soonersports.com was excellent and gave a lot of background info.
Oh weird another sec “road” game. Those guys are scared to death they might get popped in the mouth in week 1 and then schedule northeastsouthwest st in week 9
At first I was really worried, but then the O started to get rolling a little bit and I’ve calmed down. It’s the first half of the first game, we just need to take a deep breath and see how the 2nd half goes. Baylor struggled with smu, tcu struggled with Minnesota, the pokes struggled with cmu. The first game is normally pretty sloppy for most teams. We definitely need to improve on some things, but let’s see if they haven’t cleaned some stuff up in the second half before we go too crazy.
They showed him a few times and he seems pretty calm… pretty sure they sound proofed his both and triple paned the glass so he can’t throw someone out.
I’m listening to the game now, but it sounds like the JC WRs we picked up (Dede and Jarvis) have thrown some wicked blocks to spring teammates for scores!!! Music to my ears!!!
This much is clear: Mayfield is a clear upgrade at QB over Knight. The only thing preventing this game from being over sooner was the receivers’ hands and the blizzard of yellow flags.
Started off really stagnant, but on pace to score for a 5th straight drive. Don’t count the kneel down to end the half. The current drive started back at the 6. Just sayin.
Me too! I hate the Horns, but want them to do well to help the BIG 12 rep. Now when they play OU, I want them to get curb stomped, like most every other Sooner fan.
Regardless of the INT, from what the announcers are saying, it sounds like Lincoln Riley already knows where Trevor messed up and is coaching him up on how to improve. Love to see the QB coach working to make his players better!
The interception aside, I thought Trevor threw the ball very well tonight. Unfortunately, there were a couple of drops on extremely well thrown balls. If Knight ever needs to be called on, I think he could conduct this system better than the one he played in last year.
38 point win. I’ll take it. Wish it was a little cleaner but the defense looked good. Too many teams gave up TDs so good we didn’t. Need defense to look much better to beat Tennessee.
Good job from Baker. Easy to see why Riley chose him. I’m glad the sloppiness came in the first game and not the second; the coaches will be all over that. Time to improve from week 1 to week 2!
Akron isn’t very good on offense….Defensive questions to be answered in the Tennessee game…. One thing is apparent , Sanchez still bites on ‘double fakes’ ….so he is consistent…….
Probably part of the scheme Stephen. They use a running QB and the Cb has some responsibility. One mistake is allowed. Any doubts about Walker and Dimon? Didn’t think so.
I thought there were a lot of positives and a lot of negatives. The positives are the depth in recievers and Baker Mayfield protecting the ball. The defense would have shut them out had Shep not fumbled the ball before the half. The big negatives were the penalties and the O line. The O line imo was horrible. They couldn’t run block at all and Baker had to run around too much. There were a couple busted coverage plays that would have killed us if their receivers would have caught the ball.
I’ll need to watch the game again before I give my opinion. However, I don’t think the OL did too horrible. As they settled in, they got better. Personally, I don’t care how we move the ball, passing or running it, so long as the chains are moving.
next week, i will be looking for what we do. if i were tennessee, i would do exactly what akron did except press as tight as legal to take away the quick throws which takes away any deficiencies on the line. i wanna see how we combat someone trying to take away the run game and the short pass game.
Yeah, I agree. There were some dropped passes earlier in the game. But, we’ll see how it goes. I believe the team will get better as the season continues. It sure was nice seeing so many guys touch the ball.
lots of positives. i really like this team. i believe they always say, you make the biggest jump as a team from week 1 to week 2. if we do, we might beat the poo out of douchy top
I remember when I made my first start. My heart was beating so loud, I couldn’t hear myself think. I had no idea what to do. Everything went out the window.
Another positive was seeing LR on the sideline. He was engaged. The defense looks legit. For all of that misdirection, there weren’t many busted assignments.
That’s what is exciting about this offence this year is we all know the oline will get better week to week and what’s even more intriguing is having having 4 or 5 guys that can take it to the house any given play with that being said first game jitters and with all the new guys in the starting rotation came at no surprise but with a week of practice we will hopefully see some improvements.
Guys!! Good game overall, we will build and improve against Tenn. Remember we have new starters on OLine, and it is only going to get better, by season end we will be running roughshod over Defenses. BOOMER #believeinBedenBOOM
Really love the way the defence played tonight and was able to squeeze the pocket at will(I know it was only akron). With the being said, it’s was nice to see the intensity and ability to match up with whatever was thrown their way to night and like k talked about before is being able to be multiple out of the base d in order to match what the opposing offense without substituting witch will go a big way in the big 12. Offence looked out of sync but baker showed why he is the starter and not panic and took care of the ball and played within him self, something we haven’t seen since LJ. We knew heading into this game akron had a stout front 7 and the oline will only get better but one thing for sure this team definitely has more game changers than last year and the d looked like an old school stoops d.
You could tell that we had the jitters in that first qtr. Once we settled down and started getting things together we do pretty good. Oline will have issues but that is a given with how many new guys starting. Bedenbaugh will get his big uglies on the same page. I like that we played a lot of guys to build depth. We will need it as the season goes on. Overall not a bad game.
Overall, I’m impressed with tonight’s win. It was a slow start, there were some frustrating penalties, and the run game never really got going. However, Baker looks like the QB we’ve been needing (strong arm, smart, and pretty accurate). I felt he controlled the pace of our offense, especially after he got his first TD and got some confidence under his belt. I’m impressed with our receivers for the most part. I’m glad we have a tight end and some other options besides Sterling this year. Mixon was as good as advertised. I think he’s gonna be a special player at OU if he stays healthy and out of trouble. Perine never really got going. I think the O-line wasn’t opening things up for him, so that’s gotta improve as we go on. Our defense was a lot better than I was expecting. I know it was only Akron though, so next week will be the real test. If they look as good next week as they did tonight, I will be ready to say we are Big 12 contenders. I know Tennessee allowed a lot of points to Bowling Green, so I think we could have our way with that defense next week if we execute. The main keys to next week: Get off to a quicker start offensively, don’t give up turnovers, put pressure and contain their QB. He’s good people, so we need to be ready for him and Herd (the RB). Overall, I’m happy with tonight’s win, but next week is going to be a huge test. Boomer!
I thought Kamari outplayed Hurd, but both are a force. I was also pleasantly surprised to see their secondary get exposed by BG. I can’t believe BG was able to get behind a Willie Martinez coached secondary. Shocking, lol.
Like most, the offensive line has me concerned. However, I find solace in that I believe the OL is the most difficult to improve during the offseason, but generally sees the most improvement during the season. My reasoning is, as the most symbiont position group on the field, it is difficult to fully critique and improve as a unit until there is live game action from which to draw criticisms. Practices and scrimmages are nice, but they’re not a substitute for what takes place in the trenches on game day.
Bedenbaugh now has film of his new offensive line in action. Look for incremental improvement over the next few weeks.
No question about it the offensive line more than any other position group on the field requires continuity and reps as a unit and I promise by week 10 this one will look a lot different then it did tonight and luckily we have the best line coach in bedenbaugh that know what buttons to push and and can help eliminate mistakes and more than anything bring the best out in each player.
Your words-to-punctuation ratio is amazing. I have never seen that many words in uninterrupted succession. I concur with your various thoughts in that one, all-encompassing sentence.
Thank you sir like k said on here numerous times guys like monty, coach b, cooks posses the kind of fire, energy, and compassion for the game that just ozzes swag and professionalism at the highest level and are second to none in teaching technique and now days you have be able to connect with the kids while earning there respect and truth of the matter the kids usually commit to programs that they feel like is more honest and feels the most comfortable and can connect on a level that will make him better and get to the next level pure example look at the dept on the d line, talented but young oline and a secondary will be scary in a few years with the help of viney we went into some backyards we had no business in even the king has to be proud of.
I’m glad to see you’re still here. After your little tantrum during the first quarter last night, I was afraid you might have committed suicide. Good to see you held it together long enough for the team to find their footing in the first game.
No apology necessary. I’m surprised our neighbors didn’t call the cops to report a “domestic disturbance” during the 1st quarter last night. There was a lot of “oh my gawd! Seriously!?” being yelled at the tv.
my mate’s mother makes $98 consistently on the tablet………After earning an average of 19952 Dollars monthly,I’m finally getting 98 Dollars an hour, just working 4-5 hours daily online….It’s time to take some action and you can join it too.It is simple, dedicated and easy way to get rich.Three weeks from now you will wishyou have started today – I promise!….HERE I STARTED-TAKE A LOOK AT…..xjn…
Quick did not play and neither did Austin Bennett (who played a lot of ST last year) nor Marcus Green who is supposed to 2nd team at CB. Announcers mentioned that Jordan Thomas was being disciplined by not starting. Samia may have just beaten St John out for the starting position.
Comments: I didn’t see any dime package tonight. The only difference I could see with the 4-2-5 versus the 2-4-5 is whether both DEs stood up, and the NT was out of the game. They ran it very infrequently.

Comment: Stanvon Taylor played lots of ST early, but didn’t see him in the 2nd half. He may have been injured.

Am I the only one that thinks that Joe Mixon was a little disappointed that no one was chasing him on that long TD? Looked like he was just dying to use that “extra gear” but had no reason too yet.. lol. Cant wait to see it when he really lets loose of that speed.
I said before somewhere else that I’m pretty sure Joe was pacing himself to let DeDe set up his block. When you see a replay if they have an angle from the endzone where you can see his perspective it adds up.
Oh, he definitely was, I noticed that too; but with the energy he had, it still didnt look like he ever actually “turned on the jets.” I just want to see the dude get chased, and outrun everyone with that extra “AD” gear.
Watching AD run towards the endzone was a thing of beauty, sometimes I expected him to just crush the goal post once he got there. That is a determined man
What’s crazy is he should of had possibly two more, the no pass interference call in which he was tackled, and the drop pass with plenty of green grass. I agree with you very surprised that the veterans struggled but i believe it was more of an indictment of the whole line playing bad a unit as well.
Tennessee game will be interesting. I wasn’t buying into a lot of what the pencil-necks were saying about the improvement in Knoxville, a couple of weeks ago… Like I said, next Saturday night will be interesting!
I watched some of that. Looks like TN runs a similar offense as akron. I think we’ll damn near manhandle them on D. Offensively, same thing. Bowling Green was able to put over 20pts on em. We play our game, we win by 21, again.
I apologize if this has already been discussed but I think the 2015 Intro /run-in video is much better than the last couple of years!! Some think it all starts with the OL /DL but I beg to differ. A weak run in video is hard to overcome!!
I’m not so worried, today that is. The defense looked awesome and I believe they will get better. It was nice to see the DL become such a factor. Not one or two but all of them contributed and got into the backfield. The tackling for all of the defense was great. No one looked confused. They all seemed sure of what they were doing. I don’t know how easy it will be but I expect OU to win on Saturday.
Yes, some of those option plays were really deceiving, I think it was all the movement to one side, then Baker pulling the ball out to go opposite. I mean, really, 8 guys would go one way, and baker and a lineman or two would sneak to other side. Great looking plays!
I remember a few times last season when I was fooled by a trick play, and then we were right back to the same old predictable plays everyone expected, the rest of the game. Last night I was fooled constantly, as well as the camera man. That’s a good sign.
The big improvement came in becoming more assignment sound. They seemed to be confused in the 1st quarter as well as just flat out getting beat. Some big time alarms should be going off though because they simply didn’t win a lot of individual battles. On the 4th and 1 that they did pick up, ty darlington was pushed 2 yards into the backfield which wasn’t an uncommon sight last night.
I mean, they def. got a little better as the game went on, but they still have MUCH more room for improvement. Running lanes got a little better later in game, but Baker still had to leave pocket too often. Young guys though, so hopefully its all mental, and can be coached/learned with more film and reps.
It’s going to be a work in progress all year. Hopefully it’s good enough next week. If so then they should be solid by the time Baylor, tcu and osu roll around.
Nothing really unexpected here for a season opener. Defense was solid. The offense came around once Riley adjusted to what Akron was doing up front. Mayfield settled down and O-Line did as well. This offense will continue to evolve and get better.
I counted three drives in first and second quarter were essentially stopped by drops from our receivers. The good news was the ball was accurately delivered on each drop. I think our O line will be good soon enough and really good later on this season.
Thanks, did not watch the game live, seeing the replay of the first quarter noticed a few things that were the reasons for our slow start. St John and Alvarez, each busted one assignment causing huge tackles for losses. Also, Baker left the pocket early on three different occasions when there was no reason to. And there were couple of drops that killed our momentum.
The encouraging thing about it was, Baker then realized he was doing this (leaving pocket early), later throws he stays in the pocket longer and waits to see his receivers get open (LR coached him up I guess). The OLines run blocking was still not that assignment sound, but this is good film to try and break down and improve on.
Your first observation, St. Johns and Alvarez getting blown up, probably contributed directly to your second observation. Quarterbacks tend to notice quickly when their line has multiple busts early on and that leads to the clock in their head speeding up. Once the line settled in and Akron was getting less penetration, Baker surely felt more comfortable sitting in the pocket and waiting for receivers to open up.
Given Tennessee’s ground and pound approach and our air raid, I’m not liking this forecast. That said, the last time we played in the rain, Perine was just fine.
When some of y’all watch the game again try to notice how often Akron blitzed and how well OU picked it up. I have not watched the game a second time yet. Further down the thread some observed Darlington and Nila struggling. I wonder how much of that was them maybe paying too much attention to the new guys. I would think the Tennessee defense will bring four to five on the pass rush but try to mix it up where they attack from.
It’s a concern. But another way to look at is Baker had enough time to set a first time starter record. 3.0 yards a carry isn’t good enough, but the threat of our running game opened up the passing game.
I don’t think this new O line is yet able to run the ball against 7 or 8 in the box, like last year’s team could. But if BM and the WRs can play at a high level, they can win through the air and eventually force defenders out of the box.
I didn’t see much of the game – the place I was watching it was hard to see/hear…but one thing I loved – the downfield blocking on passing plays. Holy moly that’s the best we’ve ever looked blocking people downfield.
I tell you what, Samia is a good looking tackle. He got better the more he played. I usually don’t get excited about right tackles, but this kid looks like he has all the tools. His pass protection and his footwork looked really good. I’m not worried about running the ball
And what about Baxter, Zeus, Samia, Que, Westbrook, Haughton, Mbanasor, Dahu, Mead, Mixon, and Andrews? Those are some nice looking athletes. Folks, we might be looking at the beginning of a dynasty.
At the end of July Baxter announces he is walking on at OU and is in the starting line-up for the 1st game Sept. 5th. I’m thinking he is getting that schollie. Big gamble and big return. Love it.
2 Questions:
A-what is the rock song playing in the TV broadcast in the 2nd qtr when they are talking about Jerome Lane?
B-Did Jordan Phillips leave too early for his benefit?
My favorite play of the game was the 4th and 1 play where we picked up the first down. Baker went under center, we loaded up the line, brought in flowers and Andrews, handed that bad boy to Perine and picked up a first down. So often last year we were unwilling to do things like that.

Using the same link on ‘Tune-In’. Nice and clear but would sure like to be ‘seeing’ it. Will wait for the youtube highlights.
The loud snorting sound you just heard coming from Chicago was JY when Toby announced Samia is starting at RT.
For real? Interesting.
That is what Toby said when he was setting both team’s starting lineup.
The countdowns are done and now, I am sooo psych’d for this season to finally get started!!
Crimson Storm
Is anyone having trouble with the PPV on soonersports.tv? The site seems to be incredibly unresponsive right now
“All around the world same song.” I’m not using sstv, but, same crap happend last year..
Anyone else think that Mixon is bouncing off the walls right about now?
HERE WE GO!! Finally the wait is over!! Boomer!
Thanks for posting links to the radio broadcast! Can’t bring myself to buy the game on PPV or on soonersports. It’ll be good to hear Sooner Magic happen realtime!
Welcome! Hope one of em works for ya!
Usually have the radio broadcast going, anyway, and the smoothe voice of TboyR.
BOOOOOOOOOMER!
SOOOOOOOOONER!
OU won toss, and takes BALL!! Lets go boys!!
Anyone able to find the game on TuneIn or i heart radio????
use this…
http://player.listenlive.co/35511
Thank you!!!!
Yep. KKGM out of Ft Worth.
PPV is telling me it’s not available in my geographical region – although i’m in dfw
Strange call on 3rd and 12
Fire Riley!
Lol hey he needs to get used to hearing that if he’s going to be the OC for OU
I’m not really concerned with the call. Perine had some room to run if he doesn’t fall down.
Let’s go D!
Zips have a bunch of transfers from tOsu. UMiami.
Need play by play fellas
Zips have a few transfers from tOsu and UMiami.
Looking for a stream
see below.
radio that is.
Tv streams below too, but havent gotten one to work yet..

Link 1 is working! finally working for you @ND52:disqus?
Fair catch? Shocking
Can’t stand SS being back there….

http://www.usagoals.co/ncaa-football/1268996/1/akron-vs-oklahoma-live-stream-online.html
Link works. Takes about 3-5 minutes to load though.
Down goes Nebbish!
Ha!
Hail Mary with 00:00 on the clock. LOL!
What a horrible way to lose.
Damn announcers keep saying KJ Young instead of Jarvis Baxter.
Driving me crazy!
ESPN stats info is showing it as dominique alexander making the catches haha
joe mixon
Wonder if Hot Rod Lincoln forgot to fill up with premium!! Come on sooners!
Punt, punt…
Well that second series was a giant turd
First game jitters, all is well (although the o line is scaring me a tad at the moment)
We look pretty awful….very awful
This is hard to watch
Should have started knight #tooearly?
#FreeTK9 lol
OUr oline is not looking very strong.
Strength of Zips is front 7.
Defense looking strong
Wow…3rd and something and we run..wtf…I cant find the words…
Its our new ground raid offense
hah, corncobs lose on a hail mary!!…….33-28
what kind of coverage are our corners playing?
3 and out
Shep looked good on the return.
not even touched
These penalties are killing us
Shades of the 2009 BYU game.
We’ll get ‘er straightened out!
O-line having some difficulties so far but the defense is looking stout. Dom was all over the place that last series
Mayfield sucks
Please leave
He hasnt done anything with a team thats had a losing record for 4 straight years……????
To many penalties I hate late games that’s the reason…undisciplined equals poor coaching sorry have to call it like I see it…Mayfield is scared to death
yeah 2 series in. lets fire everybody cause the players shouldn’t be rusty at all
We suck badly
O line getting ate up
Yo, Esco!! We need a hammer. STAT!!
Don’t feed the trolls. They’re here for attention.
Because he said mayfield sucks?? I’m in agreement
I mean are we scared to throw the damn ball?
Siebert a beast
Seibert nailed a nice punt
O line not very good
They sure are getting whipped a lot.
Bad bad bad
Obviously the game plan is to get Tennessee overconfident.
Did these coaches do their damn homework…Akron D line is sessoned…open the darn play book quit playing to lose….
Oline isn’t very good
3 offensive series and nobody had blocked anyone yet
I hope that reverse wasn’t a good example of LR’s play calling
Not a huge fan of reverses this early. Gimmicky.
Stay long way to go Gents. Still long way to go.
Alvarez getting schooled
O line problems
Why is the DLine so far off scrimmage?
OK OK. Stop the melt down let’s look at the poitives…online viewing actually works…
Slow cooker is still on…
what site?
Defense reading the option well. Thats good practice for next week.
D looking good. Oline , needs a lot of work. A lot
Shep doesn’t need to be returning punts
Totally agree!
Oh God, please don’t be hurt Sterling!
Minor heart attack right there
Whoa Baby!!!!
Nice!
Put something together O….. Geez
There we go
Baker a little quick to leave the pocket.
Definitely
I was just typing the same thing. Third time he has left the pocket when he didn’t have to
Reminds me of Landry when he would scramble INTO pressure.
This is ridiculous.
Come on Joe
D Neal baby
Nice kick
On line stream in CA must be a good minute or more behind live action
And we’re on the board
Anyone notice anything, or not notice anything??? NO CHECK WITH ME!!!!!
Truedat
No targets to Shep or Dede yet
westbrook caught one I think. Was swarmed immediately. At least according to Toby on radio..
I’m stuck listening to the Akron broadcast, and they have no clue. What station are you on?
Radio:
http://player.listenlive.co/35511
online stream…
http://www.usagoals.co/ncaa-football/1268996/1/akron-vs-oklahoma-live-stream-online.html
(If youve never used these, there are alot of ads and crap. never click anytning except to close it, and even then it takes multiple times. pop ups, pop up, but keep closing them, and then once your video starts, you’ll be good to go. But dont “sign up” or “update” or anything of that nature…)
http://www.usagoals.co/ncaa-football/1270203/2/akron-vs-oklahoma-live-stream-online.html
TV guys keep, calling Baxter KJ young
The passer QB for ziips in
But not very mobile……hopefully D can get to him early and often.
D front has looked good
Akron sure as hell isn’t going to run the ball against this defense
Except on that play lol
This pay per view is a shat show. Friggin joke.
That’s why I am listening to it online….to Toby, Merv, and Teddy.
DirecTV PPV is crisp and clear. Much better than last year.
Apparently both teams are kicking with the wind.
Lol.. I did hear that right
I’m glad I’m not the only one.
1st game for everyone…
About a good play and a half behind. Poster here called the field goal good and OU was still lining up,for third down on the streaming braodcast
3rd and 3 and our DB’s are right on top of the receivers. Yessss
Okay, we’ll see how this goes now, starting at the 6. Yikes!
This Akron DL is no joke.
Ok Baker let’s try staying in the pocket for a second
Shep should not be back returning punts.
With all the other weapons we have you think they would use someone else.
I understand the “Hands” concept; but yer right.
If we can’t run the ball against these guys it’s gonna be a long year.
All I can say is WOW!!
Gonna be an interesting ‘In the Trenches’ next week.
May just be a picture of me passed out drunk.
That’ll do it.. a pic is worth..
my mate’s mother makes $98 consistently on the tablet………After earning an average of 19952 Dollars monthly,I’m finally getting 98 Dollars an hour, just working 4-5 hours daily online….It’s time to take some action and you can join it too.It is simple, dedicated and easy way to get rich.Three weeks from now you will wishyou have started today – I promise!….HERE I STARTED-TAKE A LOOK AT…..xjn..

It’s “Trench Warfare”…rookie…
Ok..ok…been many months since we’ve had one.
Just bustin’ your chops…;)
This is crap.
This is sad
Dude, JY, yes. Your insight is correct. Not sure what to say to this … but Ketel One is kinda permeating my thoughts right now … probably best to keep quiet.
Matt dimon is doing extremely well…
That’s at least the second drop…..Mead there and Mixon earlier. WTF?
After I read a story about Mead’s trick catches…
But, but, those are easier than ones that hit you in the hands.
I see us losing 7 games
hey dale
Pessimistic are you?
Damn. Damn. Damn.
Is Josh Heupel calling plays?
Shoot. If heup was calling plays we would have 100 rushing by now.
EDIT: well, we are 0-5 on 3rd… so def some similarities..
That’s what I said on the first drive
Charles Walker on punt coverage
I’m only listening to the game. Is it as ugly with pictures as it is with only sound?
Worse
Dog poop kinda bad
You don’t have to pay me 5 million to see that you can’t run against this D…this so sad in so many ways..I’m sorry but there is some kind of disconnect with this program…
OU in trouble against a good team
Yep
Worst online play in stoops era. Lucky to win 7 games
It’s very early
What? It’s nearly 7 p.m.!
Hahaha if you cant akron off the line. You are not going to push anybody
In fairness, their D has several transfers from tOsu, UMiami etc. Not just kids who had no other schollie offers.
At least the D is doing their part
Spoke a second too soon!! lol
Nice…LOL…
Well Crap!
Sanchez got burned
that seems to happen more than I’d like.
Byrd was a little late getting over too. Sigh
Double move or just bad technique?
Man coverage. Got caught peeking into the backfield.
Where at in WA?
Puyallup, WA. I live in a townhouse and Comcast is the only cable provider they allow so I’m making the best of the situation that I can.
Looking in backfield too early. He gets a lot of picks that way but gets burned too
Agree, also hurts him on pass routes with double moves
Trevor knight should be playing #idgaf
LOLOLOlolOLoLoolol!!111
There are only 2 incompletions that were bakers fault. Let’s give him a chance
No
I am actually curious though if they’d consider switching if Baker never gets anything going… I’m saying like, thru halftime or 3 quarters.. I Baker really, THE MAN?
I don’t think he is. He was average at TT he just can get people to like him but mead didn’t make a play for him and I thought he was starting because guys respond well to him.
Dropped passes. Penalties. Surrendering big pass plays. Did I just time travel back to last season?
So who now thinks we will lose at least 6 games this year
Based on one quarter of football….. Any predictions of any kind are people, just talking. Out their ass
But this guy’s already had two predictions…ohhhh…I see what you mean…
thats stupid
Worst first quarter of O U football I’ve ever seen…I just don’t get it…Akron had nothing to prepare for no game film and they are kicking our ass.. there has to be a coach out there who will take 1 million a year and put a better team on the field than this
Dude. I know you are far away, and are super excited, but 1st game. I’m not happy either, but it’ll be fine.
Really?
It will be all good. Give it time.
maybe sit a few plays out
Just breath
Shannon in!! Welcome back!
can we please boot the new guy and whomever invited him?
He told me he wouldn’t drink…but he showed up already drunk!!!
hahaha. one quarter of football and we already have a rant thread
It’s getting pretty ripe already. I figured they’d at least wait until after the half..
I was hoping for at least next week. I’m a bit of an optimist.
he came from tfb the texas side.
Bam bam goes the ban hammer… Run his butt outa here
Terry Bowden looks like a beardless Santa
Wonder if OU will give me my money back?
They have already used it to buy cement for the expansion
ZERO rushing yards for OU in 1st quarter. Ok, now that is abysmal. I’m starting to see why @JrsySooner:disqus is so irritated.
Thought we’d get. Strip there
Anybody seen any True Frosh besides Dru and PJ?
Siebert
I thought it was SEE-bert…Rowland is pronouncing it S-eye-bert.
I’ve asked about that before. Everyone said SYE-bert. Heard Bob pronounce it the same way earlier.
He also said both teams had the wind and has said wrong player name multiple times
I haven’t noticedany
Got lucky there!
#soonermagic
Doink!!!
Well it was all…that I could do…to keep from cryin….
I lost audio, so I missed the missed FG.
So did Akron’s kicker…;)
Baddabing
bazinga
Off the upright- no good
My daughter even warned of the QB draw.
nd 7 horns zip
Let’s go now o
OK its my fault I forgot to put on my Oklahoma tshirt everything’s cool now… here comes the blowout its 3 a.m. in Turkey so I’m tired
Dude I hope you’re right!!!!
Drink coffee and put on a second jersey.
Something as small as the flap of a butterfly’s wings…
Take a red sharpie and write OU on your forehead
Dom alexander has 7 tackles already. VERY NICE!
Hopefully Coach B lit a fire
I don’t think that will even work. Lack of experience and talent
Today is one of those days just relax Temple won Nebraska lost Stanford lost just be patient it will come
In this day of college football, you can’t be paitent. In order to have any positive outlook , we needed to blow the doors off a totally mismatched football team!
Shep
Who saw a defensive struggle coming in this game?
Offense just needs to get into a rhythm. It will all work out….I hope.
Holy cow a first down…. Is that even legal?
Texsa looks bad on offensive
I know how they feel.
Trevor knight. Trevor knight. Trevor knight.
I was wondering how long it would take. You get FIRST
Biggest Trevor knight fan…admittedly.
I am too! I was kinda glad you said it.
Doesn’t matter who is throwing, when the receiver drops the ball.
At least capitalize his last name. Geeeez.
-2 yards rushing…REALLY?!?
Has the screen pass been banned in this offense?
I am thinking we are gonna need to hit a couple of them to slow down the rush.
Or a damn draw. Or just some positive rushing too.
At least the punt game looks good… which is going to be important if this O-Line doesn’t a lot
Bad deal when your punter’s the mvp
Have you honed in on the new guys on the line?
What is the record for punts in the game also….He has 5 for a 50 yard average. SMH
HEY!! He’s a kicker too! 🙂
Man! Perine was WIDE OPEN on that 3rd down.
Where was he?
Outside of Westbrook, where baker threw the ball. To me, it does not look like Baker is reading thru to his second receiver. Its like if his first isnt open, he’s freaking out.
It’s like Heupel left a virus… 3rd down deficiency syndrome
A good offense isn’t really needed in the big 12 right?
It is a little premature but our O line has issues.
I became an OU fan when at the age of 9 or 10 I saw Thomas Lott playing with his white and orange bandana…I’m now 53 and have lived in SoCal my whole life…Yes there are tons of OU fans out here
Stupid Andrews was uncovered on the right side hes huge he takes two steps and its a first down Mayfield never looked at him…I’m getting pissed and sure u are as well
How do you know andrews is stupid?
He just missed the comma. LOL
Oh I know. Just kidding with him. He’s making me laugh
Right I’m saying he’s stupid…I’m saying the play is stupid
Got to find the soft spots on the zones.. Hang in there Baker
D is looking great other than the 1 double move play
How is that not grounding?
Thanks Dakota Austin……holding.
About a 60 yard penalty?
Yep
Is that five penalties already?
Rodney Anderson on punt return
Damn penalties are killin us
nd 14 zip
14-0 ND over Texas
Those watching the game, is OU OL in wide splits?
Nothing noticeable.
Don’t appear to be.
Way to go O
Duron Neal offensive mvp, woulda thunk it
I would kill for a ball to be thrown to Andrews.
YES!
Please tell me that Baker isn’t having that much trouble seeing a guy that is 6’5″.
He wouldn’t if he would actually look his way.
Sigh, I hope that the coaches can get him to relax after the half. Sounds to me like nerves have him playing tight and with tunnel vision.
Shouldn’t, he’s finding the 6’0″ guy (Neal). Not sure if he is going through his reads.
Gotcha.
Starting to get it in gear
Wow, where was the flag?
In the refs pocket? 😉
Maybe the worst non-call I’ve ever seen.
Are you serious?
NO, I am BleedCrimson. 🙂
TK9! TK9! TK9!
BS is going to,sock that ref in the arm pit
There is Andrews for a first
Andrews not even getting a look
My bad.. I am on uber tape delay
score still 3 to 0?
Not for long. OU inside the 5.
yes
Nice job by Lincoln here, I think. Short tosses to take the line out of the equation and get Mayfield in rhythm
And it seems I’m on a little bit of a delay
Wow. What a non call.. damn.
Offensive line is starting to look sharp
Neal,is friggin ballin
You know what …wow he finally sees Andrews. Yea
Baker sure ain’t no,atK on the run
Glad we’re not showing anything for Tennessee
Terrible, terrible call! Running Mayfield on 2nd and 2?
I saw that and I thought WHY???
Edit: Just use Perine to block for Mixon, TDs all day
LR is trying to get too clever. First the reverse, now this. Don’t like the play calls.
Agree so far based on what I’ve been reading so far.
Geez Mixon is on the left side ride side of field is wide open. We call time out…OK we are cursed
First down….I’ll take it!!
Now let’s pound this with Perine
Optimus Perine TD
Finally!! Glorioski!!!
Boomer!
Sooner!!!!
Wake up the ponies!!
This is their second trip around the field.
You shut your mouth when you’re talking to me.
LOL, just what my momma used to tell me.
It’s classic.
Has any Big 12 team played well this week?
Teams have won, but all seem to have gotten off to slow starts so far.
Love the excitement from Mixon to Perine after that TD.
I saw that too! very nice.
Alvarez sealed the inside the got up a step and picked up the linebacker…. Nice
Holy crappola….. About time!!
Text book td ….nice I’m impressed . ..how about this Seibert guy
Couldn’t find the game on the radio on iheart radio from an Oklahoma station so I’m listening to it from an Akron station. Kinda interesting to hear their take
Do they have a rant thread going too?
I did “the deed” and paid $50 for the PPV. Ugh!!! BUT, at least i’m watching my team.
Who is 31 for OU?
Obo
trying to catch up via the comments, take it the offense has been less than stellar……
Less than thst
oy, but thx
But are starting to get it going.
so you’re telling me there’s a chance ? 🙂 sorry could not resist.
First half of the first game with a new OL, new QB, and new offense. They’ll finger it out.
And figure it too!
😉
Payback feels SO good!
Hahaha. In the face….in the face
Wanna know a secret? It was on purpose.
Here’s another secret: I … uh … kinda believe you.
Parker manned up on an outside receiver.
Watch for the fake!!!
Nice Mixon first down, then quick Shep down to the 32.
TD Dede
What a catch
Beautiful catch!!!
Wow, what a catch!!!!
I’m liking this offense much better now.
Yeah, nothing like a couple TD drives to change a person’s perspective.
at the least the comments are getting better , take you all’s word for the action/play
NICE!!!
bama 7 zip
Baker stepped up in pocket that time instead of rolling out
Yep
This is what I expected in the first quarter …. But better late than never
Texas O getting mauled by ND.
Hate the fightn’ Pollocks but hate the whorns more.
Looking forward to seeing many more of those connections!
Slap hands
Holy tape delay
No kidding. Someone calling DD Td and Mixon hadn’t even ran for those two yards yet
…ok
finally the genie is out of the bottle
My dad just texted “cherry is gone”
HA!
We need to keep up the pace
OK. I’m impressed . ..that was a great read and throw..Gorgeous . ..
Sugar bowl. Cue the boo birds in 3…2…1
This radio broadcast is running real late! Thanks for the spoiler alerts! Ha!
The In Tune stream is a good 5 minutes game time behind. Still love hearing the call even after reading what happened.
Haha, Toby just said, “OU has a plethora of LB’s on the field”.
Bond ran onto the field and made the tackle. Wow!
Dede injured…tell me it ain’t so
They were working on him earlier. He had gotten hit in the face on his reverse earlier in the game. Probably just getting bandage up . Got hit in the mouth I believe.
Love ya Bros thanks
It didn’t look serious. He was walking off under his own power.
He looked ok going off- no limpimg
Riddle me this why would an Oklahoma team with two timeouts not use them
Never mind
Probably thought they used them in the games first ten minutes
17-0 ND
We’re 17-0 too but our opponent is better
nd 17 zip
You high who cares…this is Sooner counyry
Are you kidding? When the whorns are getting humiliated, all Sooners celebrate
We handed off to our running back (Mixon), who hit the crease for a nice gain and I started hollering “go, Joe, go!” Something seemed oddly familiar about that… after thinking about it a second, I remembered the famous Joe Washington run at Missouri. Go, Joe, go!
Looks like rabbits on back of helmet instead of a kangaroo
OMG Really?
as I’m typing that shep shouldn’t be returning punts disaster strikes
Wrong play to win
No excuse for that shep
Bs you ever play football . …it happens…
Umm yes i did and still,no,excuse for it
D has to get it done now! Hold them to an FG
Don’t like shep returning punts.. Injury rist
Akron run game moving the ball
zips in red zone
?
First and goal 21 seconds left
gracias
Yes, Shep fumbled a punt, recovered by Akron at the 30.
thx
np
Third and goal
Held them
Fg good
Would not mind an Pick 6 here though. Akron’s gotta throw it with no Time outs.
Jaylon Smith just rocked Swoopes
High five to JS
found a radio broadcast (zips side) still delayed but could be worse
That’s what I’m listening too. It’s not terrible they could be shouting pistols firing or other nonsense
too true!

Thanks!!!

Stream2watch.co if you’d rather watch.
19 yards on 16 carries. With all the talent in the backfield, this has to get better.
seconded
Can it get worse? I sure hope not.
Remember the Clemson game?
unfortunately
But, but, I thought the talent in the backfield made up for the o-line deficiencies. haha.. NEVER.
I’m not overly impressed with the O so far.
Gotta believe the guy that got the production he did out of the talent at ECU can do the same at least with the talent at OU. #waitonit
Right!? There’s no stinking way ecu had awesome lines while he was there. These guys need a minute to get up to game speed. Can’t just roll out of bed pancaking people
With that logic, Akron would need time too. No excuse for line issues and penalties. could be long, long year.
Well, we are winning 17-3. So, its not like akron is tearing it up or anything…. Jeez.
Right???
O line needs work. Nuff said.
which is what I expect to hear from JY in his “Trench Warfare” writeup this week. How’my doin’, Toats??
JY, I know it doesn’t look good. But I think it’s close. Akron is starting to wear down.
The first half turned into a momentum roller coaster. Akron won’t last into the fourth quarter though.
to be blunt not too woried about the zips, it’s the teams down the line that won’t fold…..
Exactly. That was my way of saying this game won’t be an issue once it heads down the stretch; next week, however, might end up being a pay check week for the coaching staff to get them better prepared for Tenn.
copy that
OK first half in the books, second half adjustments WILL feature the RB’s …..of course i may be drinking the kool-aid…
I’m not so sure trying to “feature” the rb’s was the issue in that half.
how about “effectively feature” then ?
Hey give it some time before we all freak out.
Seriously,
It’s the first time these guys are starting.
Akron is playing the run.
We have things to work on sure.
Let’s see after half
Wisconsin just scored. 7-7. Oo-ah!
I’m at the game (sporting my tfb shirt I might add lol). D looks decent. Alexander looking solid. O….ehhh….hope we come out blazing next half or I’m gonna be really worried about next week. Special teams…penalties need to be cleaned up.
thx, keep with the in the stands viewpoint
bama tie at 7
Rome wasn’t built in a day. No worries.
No, but they sure had 1,000 years! This team has 13 games!
Fair enough. We’ll see what happens 2nd half.
I’m expecting good things.
Looked good to me.
Lol I thought you said romo
Thoughts for second half…
-At least 4 td drives.
-Better decision making by mayfield.
-Better running lanes for rb’s.
-less penalties!
-better punt return effeciency
-No more punts
-No more Zips scores.
and a partridge in a pear tree? 🙂
Hey, first game, take it easy. New offense, new OL, new QB and we’re probably being very vanilla. Tennessee is the game we’re preparing for.
understood, just ……. well …still uncertain about the boys, was hoping for a blowout by the end of 1st quarter …. lol
Akron looks better than I thought they would. The defense is playing great.
sort of like Minnesota vs TCU?
It’s coming. Maybe next week. I sue hope so.
Watching the piece on Nila at half time.. Young man is a class act!
Yes he is.
Not sure if even have the courage to go to a children’s hospital if I didn’t have family in there. That has to be one of the most gut wrenching experiences but at the same time a huge blessing for guys like Nila and BS who go there often. One of the best things about how BS introduced those players to that experience.
My daughter works in the children’s wing with some who are ‘terminal’. Had no idea she had that kind of courage. So proud.
Wanted to go to Baylor, and was all set to go, but mom wouldn’t sign his NLI. Wanted him to go to OU. Article on Soonersports.com was excellent and gave a lot of background info.
And here I thought his name was (sea-burt) but its (Sigh-burt). lol
Oh weird another sec “road” game. Those guys are scared to death they might get popped in the mouth in week 1 and then schedule northeastsouthwest st in week 9
OK I’m sober now what time is the game…come on is 4am getting sleppy
At first I was really worried, but then the O started to get rolling a little bit and I’ve calmed down. It’s the first half of the first game, we just need to take a deep breath and see how the 2nd half goes. Baylor struggled with smu, tcu struggled with Minnesota, the pokes struggled with cmu. The first game is normally pretty sloppy for most teams. We definitely need to improve on some things, but let’s see if they haven’t cleaned some stuff up in the second half before we go too crazy.
I’ve often heard that the second game is most telling as to,what kind of team you have.
Lets not forget, Ohio state lost a game early in the season last year to va tech and looked terrible doing it. I’d say their season turned out okay.
I’d take one just like it for ou
bama 14-7
Pom Pom girls in short shorts … Nice
so much for 3 and out…
A rare first down for Akron. Got it to the guy on Thomas. Mbanasor is out right now.
Who got to the Akron QB on that first down. Striker?
Striker was after him on the third down just now.
Is that Mixon to return? I like
Yessir
Dimons having a pretty good game
Like him a lot. He’s a gamer.
MIXON!!!!!
BANG!!!!! Mixon
Buhbye
He gone!!!!
Tennessee 59 Bowling Green 30
BGSU actually has a pretty good coach…
Who Dat?
Dino Babers
Yes, I remember now…and I am inclined to agree with your assessment….
surprised they put up 30
What a great moment for Joe
Kurt gets chicken!!!!
Boom!
Soon!
Mixon my boy
Mixon
Baker just knocking everyone down. Lol
He’s been waiting a whole year to do that! Extremely happy for him! Westbrook threw a heck of a block too!
Yeah, Dede rode that block for about15-20 yards
Guess Dede is better than just OK.
playing that way it seems ….good to see or hear in my case
He didn’t need it Mixon was scoring…nt much could stop that
LT….”Mixon with the Pickleman’s play of the game”
Aww…..too soon….
a line worthy of and for ‘genuine awesomeness’……
I don’t care what anyone says, that’s funny.
Come on D, Teddy Lehman wants a turnover!
I say again, go, Joe, go!
I paid $40 for this game. I shouldn’t have to watch commercials, right?
you dont get a vote
lol I’ve noticed.
You run a power cord from Whaley’s house into your tent?
That’s Ray’s tent. He has the weekend off for a family function.
Hmmmm, probably not gonna see Mixon back in punt return for a while.
Guess Zack is next man up
Would hope they give him a little more time back there considering how dynamic he could be on returns
He is the man I was hoping to see back there for us.
*Edit: Mixon, that is.
Me too. After everything I’ve read on here about him during practice, he just sounds like he should be the guy back there to me.
for those watching, is MS keeping himself in check in the booth? or not showing anything up there?
They showed him a few times and he seems pretty calm… pretty sure they sound proofed his both and triple paned the glass so he can’t throw someone out.
thx
You mean this? ?
Fire Westbrook!
Maybe we just don’t return punts anymore
Now we know why BS wanted to fair catch
Who the hell is throwing punches?
Fight fight fight
Who would’ve thought Akron was such a dirty team?
Fightin Bowdens?
Definitely didn’t see that coming that’s for sure
I like the attitude. Get pissed, then.
Run it up on these punk asses
Perine, what a load!
“You sit down too!”- Toby Rowland
I wouldn’t want to be in the film room tomorrow with BB; it’s gonna be ugly.
Baker has got one heck of an arm. Gets rid of the ball quick.
There is a hook-up with Mead!!!
First of many, Mr. Mead!!
Congratulations, Jeffery!
Now he’ll keep the hunger and just keep getting better!
I’m listening to the game now, but it sounds like the JC WRs we picked up (Dede and Jarvis) have thrown some wicked blocks to spring teammates for scores!!! Music to my ears!!!
If they don’t catch it, they block like mad men. It’s nice to see.
can’t tell you how happy it makes me to know we’ve got some life in the WR corps again
Under center on 4th and short. I love it
That’s football!
What were we playing last year with Optimus needing 7 yds to pick up the 1 yd?
Ok maybe we overreacted a little at first
LOL
HA!
You backing away from the edge?
Lol maybe I’ll inch back for a bit
Grab Zack while you’re at it.
Wiscy banged a FG off the post,,,Bama 14 Wiscy 7 @ Half
Piss us off…..you pay!
Baxter did an excellent riding his block to get Mead in the end zone.
Yessir
Is it bad that i am not overly famiilar with the Baxter kid?!
Late JUCO walk-on
Not really. He walked on a few weeks ago. Was number 3 JUCO receiver prospect.
Yep.
Come on D, Teddy Lehman is still asking for turnover. Go get one!
Dang, Curtis Bolton looks to be hurt. Knee.
Oh no!
Sounds like he should be ok
Bad kick … only 6 yards deep
This much is clear: Mayfield is a clear upgrade at QB over Knight. The only thing preventing this game from being over sooner was the receivers’ hands and the blizzard of yellow flags.
Byrd just killed a guy
I saw that
Love an Anchorman reference.
Really was hoping someone would pick up on that
I was thinking “The Longest Yard”. lol
Ouch!
That brutal huh?
Sure sounded like it
Byrd took the qbs soul with that hit
Look forward to seeing the highlight then.
the byrd-man cometh 🙂 Been waiting 4-ever to say that again
That’s going to hurt for awhile
Some Sooner Swagger starting to show up??
been a hot minute since we saw that
Yes please!
ND’s kicker just missed an FG. I believe he was the guy rated just ahead of Siebert in the 2015 class.
Austin was at the top of every list until he committed to OU.
Icing Bolton’s knee…..radio guys saying it doesn’t look too serious. Plant is the guy on the sidelines giving updates.
Totally okay with just fair catching punts for the rest of the night
Not inside the 10 please.
True didn’t know this one was on the 7 yard line
Would love to see the offense work the run game and run off some time on this drive. OL needs to exert some dominance.
ASU scored!
huh?
ASU vs. aTm
ASU down 17-14 now
huh??
Hey, I got it fixed before your comment. But payback is fair play!
lol
Wouldn’t that be a tie?
A&M changed QB and true freshman Kyle Murray has been in. A&M up 17-14.
LOL. Merv Johnson “I think he set a conspecutive catch record in that game”
earlier in the broadcast, rowland was talking then asked merv if he had anything to add……”no, not really” happened twice
nd 17-3
Why is baker running the ball?
No idea. SMH
Pretty sure that Riley said “don’t try to do too much, just get the ball in the playmakers hands” more than once
I think LR is also having first game struggles with the play calling. I’m sure it will get better.
Started off really stagnant, but on pace to score for a 5th straight drive. Don’t count the kneel down to end the half. The current drive started back at the 6. Just sayin.
The O is looking much better, but there are some of the play calls that I think LR wishes he could have overs on.
Shep been quiet tonight?
Holy hurdle Joe
Mixon has got some sky!!
That may be the prettiest hurdle I’ve ever seen.
Prettiest I’ve ever heard!
Same here
Millard against Texass is the all time greatest
That was tremendous. Can’t wait to see the Mixon one.
he was cut by the Niners 🙁
no doubt!
If he had only stayed inbounds.
Dru Samia is assignment sound.
The jump truck returneth!
Yessssss.
BOOMER!
SOONER!
The Ponies are sweating, no doubt!
SOONER!
Mayfield hurdles for the TD
I’m liking what I see from these receivers.
I LOVE the blocking.
I can’t say enough about the WR blocking. It really has been impressive.
Norvell always said ‘ can’t block- can’t play’. Oh wait…
Td baker
Does anyone know if they are going to show the game on TV in the next day or two for free like they have done in the past on PPV games?
pretty sure someone will post something on you tube 🙂
I’d imagine fox will show it at some point
Someone said it will be on Fox SW either Monday or Tuesday night.
yes, Monday night at midnight on FSSW and then the no-huddle on Tues at 1pm. (I think that is correct, may need to verify.)
Awesome, thanks for the info!
Nice to see the offense settle in and find some rhythm. Looking good guys!!
BOOMER!!!!
SOONER! !
Hope the game gets posted on Youtube tonight!
Me too
Do we see Knight in the 4th?
hopefully , but with BS history prolly not…
Next drive sounds like.
sure!
I’m going to call you SoonerNativeAmerican. K?
could be East Indian or West Indian you know ! j/k
Kiowa/Comanche. Oklahoma born and bred!
How! (Raises hand palm outward)
or not 🙂
haha, call me whatever… I’m not a PC junkie.
I kid. I kid.
I hope so. He deserves it
ND just blistered UT for 60+ TD pass. 24-3.
sweet
24 ND 3 UT
Mixon is back for punt return.
Got the stream going… couldn’t sync the radio tho, so I get to listen to the tv guys struggle through.
Love the red zone efficiency. and very much liking this Baxter dude.
We sure got lucky with Baxter!
Agree
4th
Glad Trevor is in there
I’ll always be a TK9 fan
Wholesale subs now. Knight, Bothum, Brooks….same OL though. Good, they need work.
Glad to see them working on building depth, haven’t seen that in a while!
For sure.
seconded
Agree!!
It feels good to have a back up QB with a whole season under his belt.
It does.
Heck the third string guy has won games too. Not a bad problem to have, that’s for sure.
Yes sir!
Gotta be able to get that one yard.
Time for the defense to score!
Take it easy, boys. BOOMER SOONER
Later!
cheers my man
G-nite
31 ND 3 UT
Only complaint tonight is we need to get Perine more involved. Happy with everything else
from what is sounds like, they stacked against the run for most of the game….then again i’m listening not watching
Meh… Not worried about that. He’s a proven commodity and it’s Akron. Keep his legs fresh for next week.
bama 21-7
Thanks teddy
Yup, he’s been calling for one all second half.
I don’t want to see Akron score again…….I’m greedy!
Okay, good. OU gets the turnover. Now let’s get a score for one of the young guys like Brooks, AD Miller or Dahu.
Or a score for Bothum would be very cool.
Finally get a turnover
YES!!!
Ou ball
Yes!
C’mon Brooksy….
Dang, I was rooting for you Bothum. Too bad.
And UT punts once again. Wow, they are getting stung pretty bad.
121 total yards. SMH
I thought they would be better on defense
Me too! I hate the Horns, but want them to do well to help the BIG 12 rep. Now when they play OU, I want them to get curb stomped, like most every other Sooner fan.
I didn’t think they could get any worse
Someone needs to tell Mead he doesn’t have to make one handed catches all the time. He had position on that DB, was trying to get a one handed catch
rodney anderson the RB on special teams tackle ?
Yes
I hope we get to see Anderson on the next series.
Lots of true freshmen playing…too many, do you think?
no to be honest need the depth.
No. We need them for both depth, and the future. If they’ve earned playing time, let them have it.
When the score is like this, you can’t have too many freshmen on the field.
Walker looking good
If he keeps this intensity……good stuff
Q was right there also
I have never seen a punter with over 500 yards punting. 11 punts for the Akron punter…maybe 12. I’m not sure.
kid earned his schooly
If we have to give up a record, that’s not such a bad one.
ha!
Would like it if OU had a few hundred in return yards going the other way, too.
At this point I just want them to catch it.
I’ve never understood leaving the game early. I always stayed to the very last snap.
w/out kids yes, after having kids not as much
You’re gonna see guys play who may never play again.
DJ Ward out their ?
He has played but not on that last Akron possession
alright good
Oh man, now you have Ross carrying the ball. Talk about adding insult to injury.
Nd qb looks pretty good
ND 38 UT3
would like to see flowers involved as much as possible
Flowers is now the 10th guy to catch a ball. Dang, Green would have been #11.
Hey wait! We have a TE? Neat.
Yes. And Taylor McNamara scored for USC.
Nice Anderson got a carry.
PJ out there?
He started the game and gave way to Jordan Thomas in the second half. Not sure if he played in this half though.
Was the first quarter but not, since then
I thought Toby said he was in there in the 3rd qtr
Was playing opposite Jordan Thomas a few minutes ago when Sanchez retired for the night.
OK. Good.. Was hoping he got some meaningful playing time
Sounds like Charles Walker is wrecking shop. Wish I could see it.
He has been pretty disruptive.
He was very disruptive. Seen him first hand
Too bad.
…..meh
Not,even close TK.. Smh
protect the ball TK….
LR at least went over to TK and let him know he didn’t look off the CB on the fade.
Like the teaching approach vs just yelling in the players face.
Agree
Or told him to throw it to that wide open hood route on the outside…
Coaches made the right decision on our starting QB ?
Trevor, Trevor, Trevor….
Agree on all accounts!! Glad he is still a part of this team and am confident in his ability to step on the field and help win games for us.
That’s a real shame. He needs confidence and that doesn’t help.
You knew it was comin. Don’t lie to yourself and say you didn’t see it comin………..
As soon as he walked onto the field you knew. You just knew.
I tried lying to myself at first, but I was mistaken…
Like an abusive husband who swears off booze and says that he’s a changed man 🙁
Wholesale changes on D….and new QB for Akron. Who stumbles over his teammate.
Want to see these young guys play hungry and not let Akron get a score. Would be a nice way to finish this one.
Always hate it when the other team scores in garbage time and people treat the score like it meant something . . .
Mitch Tate? Hey, great experience for the Redshirt Senior to get in the game.
What’s with the former Texass tech QBs and not, shaving?
Keeps their face from getting cut??
Ok fellas let’s knock it off.. need yall to win by 34
how about 38? 🙂
That last pass had me holding my breath
Bonus plan +38
Boomer!
Sooner!
!!
!!!
Night night. Early start coming. Solid win after a warm up period. Nice.
And Arizona State looks to go down. Some football pundits had them in the final four. Well, they will need to pull an Ohio State to get in now.
A&M defense looked much improved.
Their in the right conference to do it in , I just see the pac 12 beating each other up
Good win, G-nite folks.
cheers mate
Well. Not as clean as I was hoping it would be, but some good things were there
ou game aside, most fun today was cornheads losing on hail mary and ut getting drilled…….rest have been so so
Christmas in September………….
Okay. Now it’s time to watch highlights over and over until the next game.
The highlights on TV?
Monday night replays on FoxSports, I believe
38 point win. I’ll take it. Wish it was a little cleaner but the defense looked good. Too many teams gave up TDs so good we didn’t. Need defense to look much better to beat Tennessee.
Akron is incredibly one-dimensional. They shouldn’t even try a pass the rest of the year and just run triple-option.
ou oline vs tenn dline
Tennessee didn’t look great right? So hopefully we clean it up next week and get a win on the road.
Once we got our feet under us it was positive. They MUST build on this though or it’s all for naught.
Where’s Desmond Howard at?
I mean, he picked Louisville
Good job from Baker. Easy to see why Riley chose him. I’m glad the sloppiness came in the first game and not the second; the coaches will be all over that. Time to improve from week 1 to week 2!
Traditionally, teams improve greatly between games 1 and 2. So, like you, I look forward to game 2 as well.

Seibert is the real deal!
Mixon’s touchdown:
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:13593721
You could tell Joe was excited; he was bouncing as much as running the last 20 yards.
That makes sense. I was wondering why he looked so slow.
He was letting DeDe set up that block. He has great field awareness for a youngster.
Here’s a link to the highlights on Sooner Sports…
http://ewww.soonersports.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?SPSID=750323&SPID=127245&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=31000&ID=4373399
The Defense played great…….Mike not on the sidelines…….coincidence?
Correlation does not equal causation . . . so yes.
It was also Akron… Gotta take it with a little grain of salt. They did look pretty solid though. Imo just wasn’t that much of a test.
Remember this guy ?
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/tennessee-dbs-coach-willie-martinez-suspended-for–impermissible-contact-193437403.html
Personally, I don’t care how we move the ball, passing or running it, so long as the chains are moving.
next week, i will be looking for what we do. if i were tennessee, i would do exactly what akron did except press as tight as legal to take away the quick throws which takes away any deficiencies on the line. i wanna see how we combat someone trying to take away the run game and the short pass game.
today, i’d give us a B-
Yeah, I agree.
LSU Football@LSUfball
The game has been cancelled. At this time the game will not be made up…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ru8DMW-grY
What were Bowden’s remarks, if any, on the game?
Guys!! Good game overall, we will build and improve against Tenn. Remember we have new starters on OLine, and it is only going to get better, by season end we will be running roughshod over Defenses. BOOMER #believeinBedenBOOM
Last year when tOSU lost to VT their offensive line looked bad. By the end of the year, it was their strongest position.
Bird looks like beast out there. He is a massive safety.
Taylor McNamara with a TD catch tonight in his first game with USC since transferring.
good to hear and hope things work out……..be something if he lands in the playoffs after txing.
You’re right, they have a two-headed beast in Kamari and Hurd. I hope we stack the line and try to make them beat us through the air.
Having watched both games, I like our chances much more today than I did yesterday.
Willie Martinez is still allowed to coach? Damn….
He commits to texsa…… Good luck young man… Have fun losing to the good guys for 4 years!! Sorry u dreamed of being a loser!!
Texas sucks
If he had been at the ND game he’d have got an education for sure.
I hope the education is better than the football
You didn’t need to take a screen shot. TFB had this on their OP.
What the heck. Grammer police grammar police. Hide your children lock all doors put away the dog
I’m glad to see you’re still here. After your little tantrum during the first quarter last night, I was afraid you might have committed suicide. Good to see you held it together long enough for the team to find their footing in the first game.
Thanks dude I’m just to into this team and University
I appoligize
No apology necessary. I’m surprised our neighbors didn’t call the cops to report a “domestic disturbance” during the 1st quarter last night. There was a lot of “oh my gawd! Seriously!?” being yelled at the tv.
Game came on here at 2am..Incirlik Turkey..so I’m sure neighborhood knew OU was on considering all the flags on my lawn
Stream of consciousness.
Sorry moonshine and blue ribbon might of had something to do with it…..
I wasn’t complaining and thought it might have been the result of a few celebratory drinks and the excitement over a first game win.
Exactly I might of the English language a little bit, tho hopefully I was able to get my point .

Quick not listed on offense or special teams. I wonder what’s up with that?
It is probably an attitude needing to be adjusted.
Quick did not play and neither did Austin Bennett (who played a lot of ST last year) nor Marcus Green who is supposed to 2nd team at CB. Announcers mentioned that Jordan Thomas was being disciplined by not starting. Samia may have just beaten St John out for the starting position.
Defense Participation Report
Comments: I didn’t see any dime package tonight. The only difference I could see with the 4-2-5 versus the 2-4-5 is whether both DEs stood up, and the NT was out of the game. They ran it very infrequently.

Guys we’re not talking about the true problem here, I think Holakyle may be dead
iwas just thinking about that last night, he just stopped doing the highlights in the middle of last season. it’s crazy you would say that. hope all is well with him.
Who didn’t disappear halfway through last season?
lol
After the Baylor game. Disgusted and sad to see OU ball sunk to that level.
Also, and more importantly, is huff99 still alive to post the entire game?
I think some exec put the clamps on both of them.
Figures. So can I watch decent highlights or a replay of the game anywhere online? I don’t have cable, unfortunately.

In case you have not already seen it, there was a link to YouTube for a replay somewhere in the game thread or you can search YouTube itself

Comment: Stanvon Taylor played lots of ST early, but didn’t see him in the 2nd half. He may have been injured.

Interesting, thanks for posting this!
That is a determined man
Heard Teddy Lehman say the other day that according to his sources, Mixon is the best player on offence and it’s not even close.
He was last night. And just me maybe but I saw darlington and kasitati struggle quite a bit
What’s crazy is he should of had possibly two more, the no pass interference call in which he was tackled, and the drop pass with plenty of green grass. I agree with you very surprised that the veterans struggled but i believe it was more of an indictment of the whole line playing bad a unit as well.
Oh it could be they were responsible for more than they could do, trying to cover for others. Progress has been made on O, but lots of room to grow
Exactly my thoughts the oline has to play as a unit and your only as strong as your weakest link.
His 25 yard catch, run and hurdle was IMPRESSIVE!! I think he would have scored again, but he ran out of real estate. WOW!!!
I want to be the first to criticize Notre Dame for scheduling a pathetic cupcake as their first opponent.
That is way too funny!!
Post of the day.
Bwahahahahaha!!!!!
Baddabing
Tennessee game will be interesting. I wasn’t buying into a lot of what the pencil-necks were saying about the improvement in Knoxville, a couple of weeks ago… Like I said, next Saturday night will be interesting!
I watched some of that. Looks like TN runs a similar offense as akron. I think we’ll damn near manhandle them on D. Offensively, same thing. Bowling Green was able to put over 20pts on em. We play our game, we win by 21, again.
On a side note: thanks for the avatar, Spartacus. This SAC brat misses that patch. “Peace is Our Profession”.

Thanx!
Thanks, you saved me the time of having to look for the replay on television.
Question to any who saw it… How did the oline look AFTER the first quarter. I know they started bad.
Was it my imagination, or did the line play improve when Samia came in for St. John?
Thought Samia started.
Samia did indeed start.

Texas got Molly whopped. I have a feeling Swoopes will not be the starter come October.
Heard was on sidelines without helmet etc in second quarter… Seeing it live he’s no better option
Texas will be 1-4 coming into the Cotton Bowl.
I think that’s a pretty good way to put it. At 1st glance I have a really good feeling about next week
I don’t think this new O line is yet able to run the ball against 7 or 8 in the box, like last year’s team could. But if BM and the WRs can play at a high level, they can win through the air and eventually force defenders out of the box.
For those of you wanting to study last night’s game…………

I’m having a lot of fun watching this and reading a Texas meltdown thread in between plays.
Thought UT would put up more of a fight. As much as I love seeing the Horns embarrassed, it’s a bad loss for the conference.
Beware the schadenfreude, young Jedi…
I LOVE this new strategy of throwing TD passes to our own team instead of the opposition.
Oklahoma beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl.
Really? I hadn’t heard that.
I hadn’t heard TK threw interceptions last year.
Did you hear he already threw one this year?
Damn it! LOL!
I didn’t see much of the game – the place I was watching it was hard to see/hear…but one thing I loved – the downfield blocking on passing plays. Holy moly that’s the best we’ve ever looked blocking people downfield.
Mayfield saw and appreciated that too
Good morning, RBear.
Sorry… a little late but good morning (evening) to you as well.
It was like there were 4 Jalen Saunders on the field.
What number is Que? I don’t remember seeing him play last night?
98
He got in pretty late I know I saw the name on a jersey on the field.
I was really impressed with Westbrook and Baxter’s blocking ability. Whoever coached them in JUCO knew his shitte.
At the end of July Baxter announces he is walking on at OU and is in the starting line-up for the 1st game Sept. 5th. I’m thinking he is getting that schollie. Big gamble and big return. Love it.
This post made me smile.
