Just posting here as well.

Thanks for the open thread here. Adds greatly to the viewing experience here in Cali.
And in Denver!
and in guadalajara.
Good news, everybody… I’m wearing my luckiest pair of lucky socks. They have enough luck in them to ward off the injury bug for today… and that is what I want to see more than anything during the game… NO INJURIES!
BOOMER!!!
Already have had enough with Rodney A’s right?
Dang right! His injury was a real bummer. Sucks for a kid to enroll early and then miss spring practice… especially a kid with his ability.
Thanks for the thread.
It will be good to see the players on the field where they and we enjoy it most.
Looking forward to seeing new players get an opportunity.
BOOMER!!!
Seems the weather is working in everyone’s favor (insert sarcasm here)
Not expecting too much today
Smart approach 🙂
Why? You don’t think we can take anything from the game? Knight threw a pick last year, it was a sign of things to come. BM moved the team. We all thought the def was going to be good.
No, you can’t take much of anything from this scrimmage. Not even sure I’ll watch it, honestly.
If you know what to look for you can.
Are you ever!? 😉 lol
Who’s pumped for this? Can’t wait. This is always tough, because on the one hand you want to see the offense move the ball, but on the other a lot of criticism will come the defense’s way. MS…etc…
Well, if the offense does NOT move the ball, I will take that as our offense is struggling (though it is still really, really early for a new offense), not our defense, cuz all spread teams moved the ball against us last year, so will be hard to judge from defensive standpoint.
From that side of the ball (defensively), I would love to see good tackling, good positioning, and really just the flat-out desire to hit somebody. Nastiness. And hopefully they can make a few plays….
Offensively, have to watch QB battle, receiver positioning, O-line play, and the big one for me, how the offense is ran from sidelines (called plays, check with me (or not hopefully), substitutions and rotations, audibles, HUNH speed, etc…
I take it that you are not a fan of the whole offense getting out of their stances and turning toward the sidelines.
Sigh, another one out for today.
https://twitter.com/treeflowers36/status/586902680678764545
That sucks. Wanted to see if he could fit into the new O. Injuries in practice.
For hoots and grins I think they should put Tapper at RB today
I thought Semaje wasn’t playing today? Or is this just a mistake by Baker?
https://twitter.com/bm_shakeit11/status/586929739740409856
Believe he is, but will be blue-shirted.. or was that a joke that someone posted? lol
Lol I hate that, it’s so pointless for a RB. I remember when they did that with Adrian Peterson
and AD was trying to run over guys lol
if I’m in defense I would certsinly hope he is in blue today!
Looks like he’s blue numbered
Looks like he tagged Samaje in the photo since that’s who he’s throwing to in the post.
https://twitter.com/AMKing00/status/586933760743964672
What percentage of schools have a “game” like this vs ones that don’t?
Oh, I have no idea what percentages, but I know many big name schools do it now.. lots are televised now too. Anyone?
A spring game? I’d say a majority.
Alabama sells out the stadium for their spring game.

https://twitter.com/Jordan_Esco/status/586937298689753088
Mike doesn’t need to be on the field since he’s not really a position coach anymore..Kish can handle all of the backers with Cooks handling the Nick and Dime..This could be a good thing
Let us hope it sticks!
for those needing a fix, wwls/eschbach have a good pre-game show on
Geeked up and READY – even for a glorified walk-through. so….BOOMER
Geeked up…. Lol does that ,mean you have on dark rimmed BC glasses and a physics book under your arm, while wearing a t shirt that say “I
OU, SOONER GEEKED – metaphoric for excited fan. (and who is eOnstein? Maybe you meant eOUnstein.
Apologies for being crass but I cannot understand some of the “oh it’s just the spring game vibes”. I look at it as kinda like sex…… Even less that spectacular instances are better than nothing at all.
Yep…there is no such thing as bad sex and bad pizza.
Wow…. Never expected that reply. Dominos is pretty disgusting. But a bad free pizza? No such thing!
Well, Dominos when you’ve had a beer or two and are hungry is not half bad.
Yeah, it IS OU FOOTBALL…at least sort of.
Boomer Sooner from Chimy’s
Thanks for setting up the open thread…..and Congrats to the 2015 Men’s Gymnastics National Champion OU Sooners!
Is anyone else completely distracted by the terrible audio so far. Wow.
Yeeeeeeep
The music is a little loud.
what…what’d ya say
It appears they are breaking in some new production folks at Game Day.
The music should be in the “background,” not drowning out the commentary.
Started doing that again right after your comment.
They. Never. Stopped.
/hate that
ITS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS!!
I hope there will be shots of Mike Stoops sitting in the booth eating Cheetos.
Samaje Perine is unreal
I really enjoy listening to him speak. Well spoken young man. team first guy. And the guy looks even more muscular than he was. Pretty unreal.
No matter how basic and limited this Spring Game will be, I will probably watch it a million times before the regular season.
“I want to see receivers getting open…but not too open.” Gotta love the commentary.
when does this thing start? I thought it was 1 CST
2 CST
Lincoln Riley is already the man.
I hope everyone has the OU roster open in another tab. I know I do.
You don’t have them memorized yet!!
*burn*
Without looking, who’s #29?
Tommy McDonald.
Nice.
Chris Brown
Cameron Cotton, by the way.
Cotton? Are you sure? I coulda sworn Cameron was all about tobacco.
Jessica, God Bless her, I like the stories she does, her knowledge and enthusiasm, but she really needs some help with her appearance.
Often it is her clothes that are distracting, today it is her hair.
/bless her heart
“Dennis Reynolds”
He is the one who smooshed her hair?
That’s what she called Coach Diron in one of the SS.com videos
Didn’t catch that.
Have you seen the back of her hair when she turns to Dusty?
Looks like she slept on the couch at the studio and woke up just in time to go on air.
Not gonna touch that one……
I wish someone at the studio with a hair brush would.
Same thing I was thinking.
Wonder what goes on back stage off camera 😀
I don’t think about things that I don’t think about. :-0
I was gonna say wraslin…what weren’t you thinking about
interesting, merv says he’s been impressed with the progress of thomas at qb
As much as I am looking forward to seeing the team on the field, really excited about what the team will look like in Sep when the incoming freshmen have all arrived.
Not only that but the dozen or so guys who are already here that didn’t play today!
Regardless of what we see today, it’s just nice to see a football field with some players on it.
BTW, the gals are leading Texsa 1-0 in the top of the third.
whats the crowd like today – attendance?
and we’re off….CT with the start…let the speculations begin
I think they started Cody for that reason. Considering very few expect it to be his job.
I love Oklahoma football, even the dry humping scrimmages. Boomer!
Touch football is the only way Perine is going to be limited on his yards.
Wide open practice shot……fail.
Same Knight on mid passes. Bad.
hit him in the numbers…a little hot though
oops*
why haven’t they thrown to Andrews yet !!
He dropped one…may be too hard of a throw.
lol I was replying to my post and ended up replying to yours…trying to watch and type lol
Dede is fast
Very fast!
Dede Westbrook…I approve.
Wow. Dede is like lightning out there.
Dede is blazing!
Dede!
Come on goalline o
Get Andrews out of there. He’s not ready.
How does he get ready…should have went right back to him
pass was too hot.
Love the tempo. They call a play and run it. None of that up tempo, stop, look at sideline, change play, delay of game business.
Less Heup more substance.
So for now the offense is still at a slow pace, bigger receivers need a few tweaks but the slot guys are playing well! Defense didn’t look horrible even though they are mixing up the rotations.
Watching Trevor run it in for TD is a nice reminder of just how much we can do with this offense and players, whether Knight is QB or not.
I liked what I saw from the OL. Frison, Hartsook and Brown in particular.
I thought Brown did better in his first drive at LT than Josiah St John on his first drive
shuffle pass!!
or shuttle like BB would say. RIP
That was pretty.
The shovel is back!
What was the run/pass ratio on that last drive? I had a phone call right before it got interesting and had to leave the room.
Nice RAC for Todd
Good play for Parker
Do we have another fullback other than Flowers?
Jaxon Uhles
44
Palange
and ugly kid Joe Palange
WOOOO…there he is!!!!!
Now there’s the Andrews we’ve been hearing about.
Keep throwing to Andrews. He’s definitely ready.
No double dipping!
LOL
I may need one of these in the future
No *derps* permitted.
Someone tell me what you think so far I’m stuck at work.
I think September can’t get here soon enough.
Still don’t know who the Qb will be. Dede may be a big deal.
Andrews made up for the drop with the nice play…the drop was pretty hot throw though..still should have caught it
I like the way Andrews looks, gotta catch those hot ones because he will likely see that in a real game.
Yeah I seen him score on that call in one of the scrimmages
More rb than people would think
Weird not to hear Hunnicutt’s name called for the FGs.
Does Marcus Green have a cast on his right arm/hand or am I just seeing things?
…
https://twitter.com/BrandonTFB/status/586974253234331648
I like it a lot.
Westbrook will make plays this fall
Westbrook has got me feeling like a little kid on Christmas morning.
Idiot A Thomas tackling Dede out of bounds.
That was Tito but keep the name calling to yourself.
*Thomas makes INT*
Wrong. Holding by Neal.
Not the penalty. Risking injury to the WR.
Gotcha. Instinct, I suspect.
That was good coverage!!
Dumb throw.
Now that was nice!
Big Mead!
Bond looking very good.
EDIT Knight threw the pic…thanks everybody..lol..just needed one answer haha
Trevor…
Who do you think?
lol
wasn’t a p6 so I wasn’t sure lol
HA.
Not positive and have a lot going on in my house but they way the guy rolled out made me think it was Knight
Thomas. INT’d by Thomas.
It was Knight.
42 LB two TD saving plays Walk-on.
For those of us not watching, which QB is looking the best so far?
Thomas imo
Probably Mayfield
Hansen
Not Knight..
Knight had a TD pass dropped by Andrews. He was high on one, threw an oskie, and scored on a keeper. Pretty mixed bag with Knight.
Which is exactly what he is known for
Yes, Sir.
ok so basically every QB but Knight lol……..thanks all
Cody is still not good. At all.
Well at least he has baseball to fall back on…….wait…
what…looks just as good as the others
He’s looking better. Uh oh, pick…Nobody has taken off yet.
Great play by Evans or that’s a TD.
Except for that ball he just threw to Humphrey.
Dede. Mead. Humphrey…
Wow EVERYONE is playing QB…cool!
WRs are making plays and wide open. QB might be irrelevant if this is the case. It’s all good.
and Andrews..all big recepts by dif qbs I believe
And Andrews.
Is it good or bad that there have been so many deep balls?
I love it. Pull defenses up with the quick passes and zone read, then go deep. Loving it.
WR’s are looking like the 4 stars we signed.
Nice job by Tay.
Alex Ross would lap me mulitple times on a track but I honestly believe I have more wiggle.
Nice oskie.
That’s looked like first team D at least the back 7
It sounds like the passing game is clicking big time…….I sure hope that they have Mike sequestered in a sound proof booth.
Another INT. D is playing well-ish.
good news. Well good news / bad news of course.
D just forced a TO…looked like 1s on the back end plus backers
Baker taking way too long. Twice now. Brooks looking very good.
Deep routes being run.
Is there a team in the Big XII Daniel Brooks wouldn’t start for?
OU.
I’ll allow it.
Errrrbody got jokes today
Having live OU football makes us giddy
OU? I kid. No.
Not really buying the Baker read option game.
Hopefully Brooks will get a chance to play come fall as well…sad that David Smith didn’t really get many opportunities.
All the Qbs are trying too hard.
We might need a new QB coach…I kid I kid
Competition can do that to a man. Time to see who can be as “cool as the other side of the pillow.” RIP Stuart Scott.
Baker throws into 3 coverage guys. Sheesh
Aaannd another INT. Poor choice by Mayfield.
LOL at Baker being beyond the other qbs…all have had flashes and looked bad as well
Triple coverage.
Bad decision.
Is it time to fire someone?
Every time OU punts.
Fire Kish. The LBs didn’t make every INT and sack and pressure and tipped ball and tackle.
Two of the TOs were a result of the backers
Well then fire him for having his LBs hogging all the INTs
Ha. When in doubt, blame Kish.
Nice freaking throw by Cody
that was a nice throw out of the endzone…nice connection between Thomas and Mead
Power set run.
Samaje would have 428 yards by now if it was tackle.
Still first half.
Brooks is having a nice game besides the fumble at the goalline
He really is showing well. Hopefully, he gets a chance to play this year. Lots of RB talent at the OU.
I think they’ll get him a few plays…they said this O is really perfect for his skill set
He’d be a great extra dimension on the RB end – seems like every RB on the team has a different tool set that could really cause nightmares for opposing D’s.
Definitely looks good, so I bet you are correct. His speed and wiggle are impressive.
Perine just broke one to the house, except they called it back because someone touched his jersey.
The rest of the Big 12 is currently working on a petition to use the touch rules for Perine during the season.
Truth!!!
You guys think Stoops would mind if we all went in and chartered a Brainiacs Bus and partied at his pad?
I really just want some brisket.
Maybe we should get Hoover to ask him for us.
I heard they’re taking vacation together.
That’s a flag!!!
False start on Frison. He’s not ready.
Fire him! Wait.
…..any passes thrown to the backs?
Several shovel passes, a swing pass or two
plenty…we’ve seen the shovel pass as well
Such a simple yet effective play. Too bad JH never heard of it.
Can’t believe he didn’t use it more with Finch…I think Brooks is really gonna make some big plays…he’s small…got speed..and can catch the ball
Hoping Brooks doesn’t disappear after today. He has some wheels and can make some plays. Lincoln has to find a spot for Brooks and get him some touches.
plenty to the d backs as well lol
Hell of a throw and catch.
Good throw by Baker.
spoke too soon
Yep.
And another pick.
Should have seen it coming.
That deep ball looked way too familiar…..
Welp Mayfield is gonna win the Heisman this year…that was good coverage by Jordan…dbs aren’t looking that bad..not the expected starters
How about a pump underneath and then deep?
Baker is still an INT machine. Poor choices.
Well, at least Knight has some company.
Mayfield still has not thrown an incompletion…every single one of his passes has been caught by a Sooner (even if 2 of them have been on the defense)
You’re a glass half full guy…..I just sense this. 🙂
You know it!
Secondary in good position to make plays. Is this real life?
We don’t have a QB…yet…
Truth.
Only takes one “aw s__t! to wipe out all the “atta boys.
Don’t like all the deep routes. Need to have more medium routes.
It’s possible they don’t want to show those just yet.
True.
Schmidt haters popping blood vessels right now.
50 yard fg…good.
Money…son?
Looked smoove doing it.
Now they need to practice the fake FG.
Money Hog
Nice kick by Hodgson.
I didn’t realize how beautiful Mead’s catch was until they just showed the replay. That was amazing.
Boys got big paws.
And a huge wingspan to go with it.
Who was the QB that threw it?
Mayfield.
Actually, I thought it was Hanson.
What was that? 4 Ints in the halfz?
Joe C is started to get that Boren shape.
5 turnovers by the offense…is this how the fall will be?
No.
It’s a spring game…
Know they’re learning the offense but seeing some not smart decisions that scare me.
Forcing. Trying to make huge plays. That will change if they want the position. Just spring ball.
Yeah. Telling myself that ‘it’s spring’ and Mayfield is just slinging it.
Yeah. Where to go with the ball is an issue.
What happened to the “glass half full” guy?
That was 5 minutes ago. 🙂
Laugh you lose…Lulzer is out.
He’s not ready. 🙂
It’s just the spring game…he has time
I guess on the plus side, the defense is getting more turnovers in this game than like half the games last year combined.
Defense should look good in these games…they’ve seen these plays every practice for the last few weeks…I’m just glad the D doesn’t look as bad as people were saying…DBs don’t look that bad imo
I thought the Knight interception was more of a great play by Ahmad Thomas than a poor throw by TK.
Mayfield’s ints were just bad decisions and throws.
Thomas looks much more mature and the lack of experience really shows with Hansen’s confidence.
Three QBs that have started games in the Big 12 makes for an interesting competition.
Same with JThomas’ Int. Nicely played. Then there was the tipped ball in the EZ. That throw into coverage, though…
Tay Evans showed up on that play. Loved his drop and his height/athleticism are big time.
I was liking what I saw of Tay. Think he is going to make a LB.
This. All of this.
It was actually a pretty impressive throw on TK’s part, it just went to the wrong guy.
For Thomas to get there and make the catch while keeping a foot in bounds was impressive, to me.
Dbs look better than the talk
You are correct.
I’m liking what I’m seeing with the DBs.
hmmm….the Cook effect?
They be ‘cookin’.’
That’s a fair take…Both of Mayfields passing shouldn’t have been thrown…Cody’s int was a good play by Tay to get the tip also
Cody was even trying to get it over Evans, but Tay showed us something. Kids gonna be a good one.
Backers are looking more and more promising…with the development of the young guys
The first interception mayfield threw shouldn’t have been thrown, but because he had a receiver fighting with the dB and not looking for the ball. not because he couldnt get it in there. It was risky. But you throw that ball to sheperd and its a catch. He placed it almost perfectly. Only way it could have been better was maybe a foot shorter. Split the defenders, underneath his own man. If that guy had turned around and not been pawing the guy covering him it would have hit him in the facemask. The second interception was mayfield trying to force it from what I could tell. But that first one is on the receiver all the way from what I could tell.
(Other JD)(Did I get hacked)…Yeah Shep or another wr prob goes up and gets the ball but he didn’t throw it to them..he threw a pick into tripple coverage…lets not blame it on the wr
I’ll put the blame where it rests. The wide receiver was the reason it was a pick. It WAS into ‘triple’ coverage, but only one DB had a chance to make a play on it where he threw it. If the receiver looks for the ball then it’s a catch. Had nothing to do with going ‘up’. All he had to do was turn around and the ball was right there. So yea, that ball… absolutely on the receiver. The other pick? Bad decision. That first one I’d throw again if I knew I had someone who wanted to catch it. Not a huge deal either way(It’s the spring game). It was a risky throw yes, but not a bad one. As a wide receiver if you’re playing paddycake with a DB 20 yards downfield and NOT looking for the ball then you’re doing it wrong.
And yes. You did get hacked. I now control everything….
Also, I think Andrews is gonna be a monster dragging safeties into the endzone hanging onto his jersey
No. Knight was being chased and threw into a tight window. Should have thrown it out of bounds. Bad decision.
Meh…I saw a great play by Thomas.
Little bit of both. Still an awesome play by Thomas.
Me too…was a great D play.
The rules for Perine’s carries should be 20 touches = 1 tackle.
Seems accurate.
Since it’s halftime, anybody watching The Masters?
Bass Masters?
The Classic is coming back to Grand Lake next March. 🙂
Yes.
Oline has a ways to go esp at RT. Farniok still plagued by the cement shoes and Frison struggling.
I have liked what I’ve seen from all the OL.
Run blocking looked good…but a lot of pressure leaking through in pass protection.
We do have some pretty good pass rushers.
Just watched Farniok handle Tapper nicely on a pass rush.
Call me a downer, but OUs multi year starter at QB is not on campus. We need to run first and often then sprinkle in some passing.
downer
Early but… Actually thought Cody looked as good as any. Was disappointed in Mayfield after the sring game last year and all the talk that has leaked out of spring practices.
Tiger is coming out of his four year fog.
For everyone here who thinks I’m negative, why don’t you take a gander over on John Hoover’s Twitter today 🙂
Oh lord.
Smarter than that. Or at least I value my time more..
I’d rather not.
Soooo…you’re saying you are ‘Hoover lite’? JK
The gals lead Texsa 3-0 top of the 7th.
Nice!
Pendley just went “yard”…4-0.
Hoover can kiss my ………ahhhhhhhhhhh
Kish haters bout to explode.
QB’s seem to be under a lot of pressure today.
Seeing that, too.
QBs are trolling us. Trying to look inept this spring only to crush everyone this fall.
C Knight just using up a scholarship.
Nope.
He’s a walk-on.
Sounds like Dede Westbrook needs to be the starting QB.
Oh, hey Neal…
LOL I said, “Oh, look, it’s Durron Neal.”
Neal showing some moves.
Hows Ward looking?
Anybody have a synopsis of the game for those of not in the great state? Bits and pieces here and there suggest DBs are better than advertised, WRs are legit and QB play is meh?
Correct post
Yeah. I can’t get the game on TV either but I found a free link to the radio broadcast.
Can you post the link?
http://tunein.com/radio/The-Franchise-1077-s35203/
Sorry I posted it so late!
Thanks. My fault for not asking earlier. I went to the link and the first thing I heard was “And the Sooner Spring Game is in the books.” Anyway I appreciate the post.
I think they shortened the game by quite a bit as well. Didn’t sound like there were that many possessions in the 2nd half.
I agree with you. 🙂
A lot of short, quick passes, zone read handoffs, and deep playaction passes. Run game looks nice, and would be better with perine obviously. Secondary been in good position to make plays. Not a lot of rhythm with the quarterbacks due to 4 man rotation. All three with some really nice plays, mixed in with some poor decisions leading to ints. Several wideouts look good, deep rotation this year. Mead and Andrews with some deep plays and nice hands. I worry about the offense in the redzone, since we aren’t showing any I-formation or power offense today. May not be revealing it though.
They ran two plays out of the I. Ross and Perine.
You are awesome. Thanks.. so who’s better…Mayfield or Knight?
Can’t say after today. Knight looks like the same qb as last year. Accuracy issues and trying to force passes. Mayfield showed the best touch, but had two terrible decisions by throwing into double and triple coverage. Nobody Got into a groove due to the continual rotation.
That’s how you use Ross.
You are correct
who was the qb
Baker.
perfect throw in stride……..thxs
why? what did Ross do?
Im blind here!
Swing pass in the flat….sprint down the sideline for a score.
nice!
Wow! True creativity?
Swing pass
thanks
Swing pass about 10 yards down field that he took to the house…about 30-40 yards
Can’t wait to see this offense with an OC that knows how to use the players.
There you go Baker…good drive.
There’s our QB.
Dustin would say*our. 🙂
Lmao…and, DHS would say, Kiss my A$$!
our*
I corrected myself. Thanks.
Well, then, disregard. 😉
korrected*
Spanish broadcast sounded much more exciting, Lol.
El Sabado Gigante!!!
Great coverage there.
Johnson at DB.
Common misconception that the coaches were not allowing Perine to be hit today. I believe that was actually by request of the defense.
Lol! Either way.. I’m sure the defense wasn’t mad about it.
Cody still throws like an OF, needs help with his mechanics but he has to have the most upside of our current QBs.
I like Will Johnson…a lot.
I was thinking the same thing.
Me too, we have some talent coming in on the back end. I’m excited about Cooks too, just on past experience.
Just in the quick videos with Cooks wired up during practice, you can tell he’s a great Coach.
Cody is the third stringer.
I haven’t seen a starter yet
Soooo, is Seibert pulling double duty for four years?
Possibly. But, I doubt he does it next year.
I think he will. Hodgson will stick to kickoffs
Mead has looked good today
Tearing up the middle.
DGB Lite?
35 lbs lite*
Better. Sorry, Sanchez. Had to do it!
Nice tackle 41!
Looked up his name, Brian Walker.
Strong.
Since Im not seeing this its kind of hard to tell but judging by what you all are saying the Akron game seems to be looking pretty winnable.
We’ve got a chance…..I think Vegas will like us.
Maybe. Tight through three qtrs. hopefully, OU pulls away late.
Still not sure we have any kind of run defense. But Akron always looks winnable.
Hmm…When is Akron’s Spring Game?
Winning.
Softball team sweeps texsa.
Like dirt off the floor!
Nice block by Frison. He’s ready.
I found it interesting that Brown was at LT and Frison was at RT on that last drive.
Most have thought that they would be working the opposite sides and they both looked good on this drive.
Overall, I thought they both played very well. A couple mishaps that you expect from young guys, but they looked really good. I’m excited about their futures.
Got a lot of upside. Good lower body for power with good feet. He’s going to be good.
Oh yeah. If he adds some strength in the upper body, he’ll be a special player here.
Ross driving hard for the score.
Ah, come on…One more quarter, please?
We have some receivers.
Was really pleased with Mead after hearing so much about Andrews. KJ is going to be good.
Justice was perfect..he’ll be Way better than the starter next year
I’m going to be depending on TFB to get me through the rest of the Off-season.
That’s a lot of pressure to put on someone. 🙂
I’m not paying them for nothing! 😉
Looks like mainly recruiting now…might find out who doesn’t make it in in June and hear how the summer workouts are going…but might be a good idea to have something else to keep the mind occupied for a few months
Maybe we will get more recruit evaluations.
where they going to do that again…those are awesome
I always look forward to the CWS for men and women, then there is the Little League WS.
Hay season works for me
Don’t remind me how hot it’s gonna be.
I didn’t say anything about heat dang it…were gonna have an el Nino summer (hopefully) and snow in july
Well theres always American Idol
Lol Clark Beckham ftw!
I quit watching after the hell I went thru a few years back just getting in to jerry world for the first round…I see many many talented people get left out some they can add some people that suck so people can laugh or just for entertainment purposes that have nothing to do with singing or performing
A request. Lot’s of us Sooners don’t live in state and didn’t have the opportunity to see any of this. I know I would appreciate a shout if anyone sees where this game will be replayed or maybe posted to you tube.
I would expect Huff99 would be the first to post it in its entirety.
Huff99? User name? Where does he post the games?
https://www.youtube.com/user/huff99/videos
Just click on vid and then click on his channel.
Thank you so much. I’ll be checking on you tube. I’m so glad that some take the time to do things like that. It means a lot to those of us who don’t live in state.
Thank Huff99!
It’ll probably be up on youtube pretty quick. Last year’s was. I’m sure Jordan will link to where people can watch it in the daily news post if anyone can’t find it before Monday.

Thank you. I don’t get FSSW or FSOK.
It’s the ONLY reason i have DTV…the Fox Sports Pack. Will watch the replay a few times. Hopefully, it is posted on youtube, as said. That way can pause and watch players.
I’m near The Lou where Sammy B was totally underappreciated…FWIW, Charter is showing the game on FCSAtlantic (for some damn reason) from 8-10 p.m. CST tonight on channel 219. I’ll check listings for other times.
Thank you! I am in STL also (agree with the idiots here in re: to Sam) and was looking for this to be on in afternoon and couldnt find it? Glad to watch now as replay.
TFB…I doubt any other site had this many comments without a bunch of fights. I appreciate how this site is conducted. Thanks!!!
And thank you.
Kiss off.
It’s spelled “Kish”.
It’s all thanks to you here. You all have built a great community of OU fans!
…
I always start reading on LT, and finish with TFB so I don’t finish the day feeling beat up, stupid, depressed and disgusted.
Quick question for anyone who cares to answer.
Top 3 players that impressed you ( not counting the obvious ones Perine etc etc ) ?
Westbrook
Mead
Will Johnson
Crikey…how did I leave off Westbrook. Guy is going to be another Jalen and take the pressure off of Shep.
Daniel Brooks
Mead, WJohnson, Brooks.
Flowers, Mixon, and Anderson. 🙂
Ha
Westbrook
Tay Evans
Will Johnson
Dede, Mead, Parker.
Mead
Westbrook
Tay Evans
On D, Johnson the DB, Evans the LB, Bond. On O, Westbrook, Mead, and Brooks.
Cheater
If Bond starts and/or plays a lot, can we call him 007?
No.
Not a fan of Bond (james), eh Tex? Me neither really… I much preferred the shagadelic version in A. Powers. lol
Not a problem with Sean Connery, but as for our Bond he deserves something original. If we were to use old tags I would prefer ‘Gold Bond’ or ‘Bondsman.’ 🙂
Connery was certainly the best one. Gold bond sounds like that medicated foot powder, and bondsman makes me think he’s associated with the court system, lol. How about D. BO? (character from movie Friday…) Oh wait, BOOORRREEEN! Boren took that moniker. Well crap, guess its just Devante Bond for now. or, TheVauntedBond?
Connery was the best. Brosnan wasn’t bad, though.
Roger Moore was the 2nd best Bond!
Seriously??? Moore always seemed somewhat effeminate to me.
Shaken…not stirred.
thanks for the responses
Couldn’t really do a top 3…none of the qbs stood out…Hansen was the only one with no pics but he had less attempts as well…at wr Mead Andrews and Westbrook looked good…Neal had one nice YAC run…at rb Perine looked himself…Brooks showed versatility and play making ability…Ross showed power and speed catching a nice swing pass…line looked pretty good…on the defense the dbs looked better than advertised…Thomas Thomas Johnson Parker and Byrd all made plays…Tay Evans made a nice tip to cause an INT..the Dline got some pressure forcing he qbs to roll out…over all you couldn’t really ask for much better as a team…I’d be more concerned if it was either a blowout or shutout…key will be getting the right guys on the field…staying healthy…and allowing the young guys to grow up as we build depth
And half the starters sat or were limited. I am somewhat heartened by watching the run game knowing those crossing routes will be there. Some guys were open deep, too. Dline looked good as did the LBs, Evans and Evans and Bond.
Yeah the key is we saw execution on both sides of the ball and that’s all you can ask for an inexperienced team (with some starters…expected starters out) or mixed up with walk ons and 3rd or 4th starters
All things considered, I was well pleased with most of what I saw today, but particularly with the defense and the OL.
Back to work for the players and back to waiting almost 5 months for us.
It’d be interesting if Knight ends up falling to #3 or even #4 on the depth chart.
It would. I don’t see that happening, but it would be interesting.
I think Knight had the worst completion percentage out of the QBs (not that it matters too much). Hoping TFB puts together awesome breakdowns on offense and defense like they did last year!
I saw Caleb Kelly and told him we appreciate him coming and we need him.
Well done!
Does any website have the stats posted?
From Mike Houck unofficial stats
So no one has committed yet?
That’s what I’m saying. Hopefully by 6 we have one or two. If not I think we come up empty today.
Who do you think is ‘most likely’? Think Jordo felt like maybe Diesch and/or Terry.
I really think if Whaley made it then he would commit. Not sure if he made it to Norman though? And I think if Frederick was offered then he would commit
Then terry and pernell jefferson might be next on my list.
Would have been cool if A. Kendall would have waited until today to announce, could have pumped momentum for a couple others.. Ah well, we get em’ or we don’t!
I know it was just a Spring Game and they all had their good/bad moments, but which QB impressed you guys the most?
None for me…
Haha, that’s fair.
If, and I mean IF, Mayfield does not throw those picks it is an easy call. But, into triple coverage? Can’t overlook that.
I agree that that throw has me a bit worried about Baker. It’s possible he was just trying to do too much, but even in a Spring Game a QB should know better than that.
Could be just me, but perhaps the vanilla game plan let it happen. Still, I think the pump down low to a wr, then over the top, would open it up. No excuses for that throw. Can’t happen in a live game.
I get that ‘only a spring game’ thing, but when you’re in a tight QB race, I would think it might be a good time to show some good decision making, too. Esp knowing the emphasis Bob puts on ball security. My eyes said Cody had as good if not the best game. Would love to see him move to the front of the pack.
We have to realize that Baker has a bit of Favre in him and so we must accept the fact that at times he may take chances that others don’t.
You may realize that, but I certainly don’t. He didn’t live up to all the hoopla today.
Read L Riley’s comments they line up with mine.
On QB Baker Mayfield:
“Again, I think they all did (made mistakes). Other then Justice Hansen, they all took a little too many risks. Baker has had a good spring. He is sharp. Baker is not a guy who is afraid to take chances and that is the Catch 22 in this offense. You cannot be scared, but at the same time they have to be calculating and smart. I love the aggressiveness of Baker and I do not want to pull on the reins. I think he did a lot of good things today and I am pleased with the group. I was able to settle them down at the half and they were able to come out at the half and we played a lot more in control; a lot more in rhythm. Baker was one of those. He has had a very strong spring.”
Looking for affirmation?
Throwing to receivers that are double and triple covered may meet your standard for performance, not mine.
He might be a fantastic practice player, but the results on the field are what truly matter and in that regard I remain unimpressed.
My point is I see something that Riley sees and you don’t. Sorry. Suck it up. Mayfield is better than your boy Knight at this time.
Where did I ever say Knight was my boy?
Get over yourself.
If Mayfield is your choice fine, but he has shown absolutely zero. He did complete some nifty shuttle passes, though.
Glad to know I am not alone
No, cannot.
Nor ignore his td/int rate when he was a starter.
Knights ratio 14-12…
Looks very similar to Baker’s 12-9.
Hansen for his consistency. They all need quite a bit of work, but did anyone else notice Trevor has upped his ball speed quite a bit?
Mark Andrews noticed.
Now if TK could just up his accuracy. 56% last year and think something like 58% career isn’t going to get it done.
None. But I’ve never seen any OU QB impress me in a spring game so there’s that.
Mayfield did last year.
Playing well against the 2’s who back up the 1’s that went 117th last year in passing yards allowed doesn’t/didn’t impress me.
Duly noted.
Someone coached up Mead as he’s catching the ball away from his body and more consistent than what he demonstrated last fall.
He reads TFB.
I would either play Will Johnson at Safety and Steven Parker at Nickel or vice versa, and put A.Thomas as backup
That’s sort of what happened. In the 4-2-5, Parker was the nickel, H Byrd was the free safety, and Ahmad Thomas was the strong safety. In the 3-4-4, Parker was the strong safety and A Thomas was the free safety.
For the other side, in the 4-2-5, Will Johnson was the nickel and Windham was left corner. In the 3-4-4, Johnson was the left corner.
I think Jason, like I, want A Thomas off the field.
I posted a game participation report here. It doesn’t format well on this site.
http://www.landthieves.com/board/showthread.php?88894-Red-White-Game-Participation-Report&p=2247855#post2247855
Maybe the biggest revelation to come out of this game was seeing Mike relegated to the booth. Hope that continues and wasn’t just ‘time out’.
According to the broadcasters it was MS idea.
Who was the corner that had the club?
The int…that was Jordan Thomas
No the cast?
OH….dduhh…that was Green #14
Can we haz booms
Biggest takeaway offensively was the twin tailback sets, my oh my those could be deadly. Defensively, I thought the 2014 talent and Will Johnson were lights out. Very encouraging scrimmage today.
Is Baylor licking there chops?
No. They will have to defend our running and passing. We always shut down their run game, so this year the series should return to the way it should be. OU as king.
Signed
48-14 but kicking
Hello.
I wish people wouldn’t reply to himher and maybe he’dshe’d stay away
Hi.
Chops? More like the Bus window.
^^^^^^^^^This is magic wrapped in gold.
My take away from the game is that the coaches want to be able to trust the line to help to run the ball effectively. And I don’t think they wanted to show a ton throwing the ball. Mayfield will win the job and knight will be a good backup in case he’s needed plus he apparently impresses in practice so that should push mayfield.
There’s no telling if the defense has gotten better but the safeties actually made plays and the ball didn’t bounce off their hands so hopefully the game has slowed down for Thomas and Byrd.
Mayfield needs to stop with the INTs. Poor choices today.
He does but he’s shown enough to most fans that he’s a better option than knight. I would have liked to have seen more throws from Hansen.
I fall outside of the “most fans” category.
I need to see better results in fall camp. I’ll cut him some slack in that he hasn’t played a down since last year’s spring game.
In my eyes Trevor did NOT look like a better passer than Mayfield. I thought Mayfield and Hansen had the best day… though hard to judge by the limited playbook.
No he didn’t but his one pick was due to an outstanding play by Ahmad Thomas, not throwing into triple coverage.
Trevor is a 3rd year QB with starting experience that can’t separate himself from his backups. I think that’s a reality we just have to swallow.
A reality that we have three other quite good QBs.
That’s why I would have liked to see more of Hansen today. I wouldn’t consider myself sold at all on mayfield. And I think knight just may be average at best, which I hope I’m wrong because I like knight.
Hansen shows he has skills, but seemed timid which isn’t surprising since he hasn’t played a down of ball in a very long time.
Each QB has their strengths. Give them time to learn the new offense.
Mayfield throws the ball quite well, fast. He made some poor choices today.
Knight may be the most dangerous, while the most uninspiring.
Thomas and Hansen may have more overall potential than Mayfield and Knight.
I don’t care who wins the job. Yet, I do have a bias for Thomas.
I am with you on Thomas. The fact he looked just as good as Mayfield and TK is IMO an indication of his upside. Hansen is not but a beat behind Thomas but the same might be said of him too. One thing that would definitely help the passing game that may have been missing today would be the run game bringing the safeties up. Of course having the best four recievers on the field at one time would likely improve things for whomever is the QB.
I think Baker got benched at Tech because of 1…injury…and 2 he was adding up his int collection once conference games came on…if he can’t make better decisions than throwing into triple coverage then he will have a good share of picks and a nice roasting by the roasting fans….I trust Riley to have our qbs ready by the season and if one isn’t getting it done another will get put in…I’ll pull for whoever is in there…I have no ill will towards Baker…I did figure that Cody would show up but have to admit TK is prob still the leader right now with Baker right there …Cody too (with just this game to go off of) ….it’s hard to see the talk “It’s Baker and then everybody else” that we’ve been hearing…maybe he knew the system better and the others are catching up (which would be bad news for him in the long run)
Trevor completed only 6 of 13 passes. That won’t work in the “air raid” offense.
and Mayfield was 8 of 12 (with two or three shovel passes) and two picks…what’s your argument. I think TK actually threw one away as well
I thought I saw Mayfield was 10 of 13
Let me go look again
https://twitter.com/mhouckOU/status/586995660123021312/photo/1
Here’s where I saw it.
I went off what fox showed during post game….
He went 812 176 1 td 2 int
Tk was 613 79 1 td 1 int 1 rush td
CT was 512 83 0 td and 1 int
JH was 55 69 0 td and 0 int
according to them
Right.
Justin Hansen playing safety now?
I’m afraid I’ve lost faith in Trevor’s ability to be a consistently accurate passer. When you need it most, he’ll throw the Hail Marry 10 yards out of bounds.
Hail Mary into triple coverage? I kid.
I remember a handful of times late in games when we needed a first down… Trevor’s intended receiver had no chance as the ball sailed way out of bounds.
Or a pick 6
And, Andrews dropped a TD from Trevor.
yeah he should have caught it….but to be fair that was a bullet and he was wide open…take a little off that pass imo.. I’ll count that as a drop though
Mayfield also accumulated about half of his TDs against Stephen F Austin …. His overall #s aren’t as good when you figure 7 of them were against SFA
I would really like to say that I saw some flashes from Jeff Mead last year and was hoping he would improve and I was very impressed with the way he played. He needs to add weight but he is very elusive for his size and he has a gift for running routes to get open
I hope he CAN gain weight. Seems skinny is just his build.
I think he’s 186…that’s pretty slip at 6’6
Someone feed him some PB&Js. I’m seriously.
True but a good diet (which for him is a buffet) and a workout can add a little at a time. He really could be close enough to DGB with his route running and speed/size combo
My son is almost 22 yrs old, eats like crazy…. 6′-1″ and 150 lbs.
I’m a Jeffery Mead fan… I really do hope he can add some thickness.
Anybody who thinks this tells us much of anything is off the beating path. Like the coaches said they will hardly grade this. Mayfield appears to be the most accurate QB and runs the offense the best at this point. Part of the reason the Tech coaches soured on him were his deep balls. They decided he wasn’t tall enough and went with the 6.5 Webb and were convinced Mahomes (6.3) would beat him out. Lincoln Riley will have a tough decision. Does he have a QB to run this offense on campus? Will he need to tweak it to utilize Knight’s explosiveness? Knight at the coaching clinic went 70 yards and dusted the DB’s. Will he decide like the Tech coaches to go with a taller QB?. The QB race may be Baker’s now but with the whole summer to absorb it all and look at film Hansen or Thomas could make a move like Knight did between the spring game and August practice in summer 2013. This thing is still wide open. The best thing is whoever wins has better receivers and some great great running backs. I don’t see where we have to have an incredible QB to win all but a few games. The defense looks awful.
Defense looks awful? But, above you say ”
Anybody who thinks this tells us much of anything is off the beating path. Like the coaches said they will hardly grade this.”
Now, I know who you are from other boards and I have a friend who vouches for your connections/info, so what gives?
Oh I think the offense looks good for the short time with it. I thought there weren’t huge mistakes and the QB’s looked better running it than I thought. Usually historically the defense rules these things. Sam struggled awfully in 2007. Our defense to me looked bad and I have heard the second teamers aren’t very good. But I would pay more attention to K he knows defense.
Ha. Good catch.
Mahomes is very impressive.
Mayfields attitude did not help his situation at tech.
Mayfield was miffed he lost his spot because of injury. He really lost it in the TCU game when Patterson exposed him with pressure up the middle collapsing the pocket. Baker had 3 interceptions in that game until his fourth quarter injury. They decided to go with the 6.5 Webb going forward. Kingsbury was certainly guilty of a lot of immaturity as well and he is the adult. The sides relationship just deteriorated. Baker is a great kid and family and is very popular with his teammates. That is history and other than the poor throws for interceptions yesterday he looked sharp.
Attitude comment was directed towards the way in which he left the team. Totally agree Kingsbury handled poorly, however, it’s not all on him. I think people Mis-read TT refusing to let Baker go as a reflection of “them needing him”. When reality is that he wasn’t going to be the starter going forward as you noted. He didn’t want to be the back up, however the attitude/behaviors on both sides is what lead to it not beung a “walk away you walk on” situation.
And like it or not Mahomes was very good
Mead, he is who stood out most to me. I expected Dede, Andrews.
But not only did Mead show very good hands, but some very good moves for his size. Was very nice to see. He also played stronger than last year & looked a little thicker.
I think he’s going to be very difficult to keep off field by fall.
Looked like he really beefed up, looked physically much more ready
Wait for it ….
….anyone see stats on the new punter……….even with no pressure, didn’t look good
Wait for Austin Siebert
Siebert will take care of that.
Where do they have the stats at?
how you guys can get anything out of a touch football game against your own teammates is beyond me……I think I will wait until Sep to evaluate this team but at least their is a lot of positive observations hope they pan out
BOOMER SOONER
Patiently waiting for game to be uploaded to YouTube…. sighhhh.
HaHA! If you go to Soonersports.tv and click the spanish broadcast version, you can watch it right now for free!
GOOOOOAAAALLLLL!
Didn’t see the game yet…waiting on YouTube. Did they run any up tempo, or was it all vanilla?
Go over to soonersports and click on the spanish version.. Can watch right now.
It was in super slo mo mode compared to how I imagine it come fall…prob helped the D in that regard
I missed the game. Anyway I can watch the replay without paying sooner sports? I have fox southwest. I forgot to record it :(.
scroll down a few posts…do you speak Spanish
Thanks. I do now

where can i find a replay of the game?
scroll down a few posts
Big congrats to Archie Bradley.. MLB debut, went 6 innings gave up 1 hit, had 6 k’s.. Also got a hit of his own & is in line for the win over Clayton Kershaw & the Dodgers…
Though the quarterbacking was somewhat eradict I thought the WRs looked light years better than last season. They looked coached up and did better fighting for position. Mead played in a way that his light weight didn’t matter; he got inside postion on two plays with good cuts. The WRs also did a way better job of not continuing a route if they are blanketed but settle into a space (hole) in the defense. Getting upfield quickly after the catch looked better. I know some will say this appearance of improvement t is because the D has issues but I would disagree, the technique and energy and sense of purpose was evident. Dede is the real deal.
I noticed the quick moves upfield also. Looks like that has been emphasized.
It has…you can see coach Simmons teaching it when he was mic’d up…told em to catch then cut up field..don’t run backwards losing yardage…
Hopefully MS stays in the box upstairs. All coaching aside, he has had a few sideline moments on TV that made me embarrassed.
Were you embarrassed when we had an entire staff that acted “that way” during our last NC season?
Overall…it was a spring game. Can’t take too much from it except for the grain of salt, but there were somethings that looked good. Defense, while admittedly not great seems to be showing some improvement, but it won’t be till all the injured and frosh arrive before we can say much about them as a whole. However some improvement is better then none.
Offensively there was a little more to work with. The OL looked solid in pass pro and were aggressive should be better once Nila is back at full. Ross and Brooks looked strong and showed they are both a good fit for this system. WRs and TEs to me scored the biggest “victory” in the scrimmage since they showed to be much improved which gives me hope with Shepard healthy and the new frosh coming in the summer. The QB battle rages on! Mayfield looked good at times, but needs to be smarter about the deep ball. Still he looks the like leader at the moment from what we’ve been able to see (Not Much). Hansen, while not getting a lot of opportunities was smart with the ball and accurate. Solid day for him. Thomas was average, but showed improvement all the same. Knight had his moments, but his inconsistency is still there. Still throws too high and can put too much on the ball when you need touch. Threw a bad INT on the sideline.
One thing we can take away a little from this scrimmage is that our fears seem to have been unfounded…Riley is running the football. For awhile now people have been worried silly that he’d install the Leach system verbatim, but looks like he’s going to use the running game with some effectiveness if this was anything to go by. The system is versatile and while we got a very simple showing of it we can now relax that the horses are going to be running free in this system.
My darkhorse QB is Hansen. He just needs reps and experience. He thinks and reads quickly. his delivery is smooth and seems to be accurate with the throw. Just my 2 cents,
Just don’t think they will go so young/inexperienced to start the season. Maybe if Mayfield wins the battle, and 7-8 games in he is hurting the team with INT’s or bad decisions, and Hansen has continued improving, I could see a change then. But I just don’t see them starting the season with Thomas or Hansen.
I agree with you both. Technically he is very capable, but he seems timid and that is his inexperience showing. This is the first semblance of game action he has seen since early in his Senior year of HS. I doubt he contributes on the field this year.
I watched the first half again last night before I went to bed and the best throws I saw in the first half were by Thomas, especially his deep balls and one perfect throw to Mead on a crossing route.
Yes, Thomas has the physical skills to take it to the next level. I think his ceiling is higher than the rest, but he’s just now climbing the proverbial stairs out of the basement. The ceiling is a long way away…
Thomas was very crisp on slants
I think he has the least amount of Josh Heupel in his head. And that can’t be a bad thing. I personally have felt Hansen would win out given the new scheme/staff since the firings/hiring …
Agree on Hansen, liked to have seen him get a few more reps yesterday. I’m yet to be very impressed with CT, but hopefully he’ll prove me wrong.
Any injuries reported from yesterday?
None that I have heard, but was concerned about Todd. He stayed down after getting hit hard during Mayfield’s second INT and he landed awkwardly.
Ya that’s what I was primarily concerned about. I couldn’t tell if he landed on his arm wrong or just took a shot to the crotch. Either way, him not getting up immediately was concerning.
Daniel Brooks was impressive. Nice speed and precise cuts
He took full advantage of his opportunity and some very good blocking by the OL.
It was a spring game. Very vanilla. Almost bland. A ton of 1’s missing in action. Things are going to change dramatically come August. Especially when the new kids show up. I truly believe the secondary will have a new cast of characters come the 1st game. But I also expect to see only enough offense and defense to beat Akron, with Tennessee following. Don’t want to give the Vols too much film. If any game is a measuring stick, that’s the game.
I pity Akron, they will be seeing number #32 in their nightmares.
The game with the Vols, I can already feel the excitement building.
And that’s a good thing. We need to establish our run game. I think our OL will pass pro beautifully vs the Zips but we’ll need to work our run game prior to the Knoxville trip.
I liked what I saw with the OL yesterday. The young guys showed up well. Tough replacing Thompson and Williams, but they started early in their careers and I think we have talented enough young OL guys who can do the same.
I don’t want to get down on St.John, but I just don’t feel confident he is the best of the OTs.
That is how I felt. I thought that Orlando Brown actually did better than Josiah. I like Jonathan Alvarez also, I think him and Kasitati would be solid guards
I’m looking forward to when the full team is together in August. I really wanted to see the new and improved slimmed down version of Joseph Paul.
Brown and Frison both looked good to me. Farniok was moving much better than he has in the past and looked good in pass pro and run blocking.
Almost certain that Bobby Evans will RS.
It appears to me that Coach Bedenbaugh has really been coaching these young men up.
i didn’t see the game but how did Danley do.
He played well also, I think all the guards did well but I like that Jonathan is just as good as the older guards and he’s young. Which means by the time he’s a senior he would be amazing, maybe all American with Bedenbaugh developing
cool, thx for the update.
I don’t know how he did specifically, but I will say that all the different units of the OL looked pretty danged good.
Encouraging and good to hear. Not a big spring game guy. All I care about is getting young guys reps and everyone coming out healthy.
Really looking forward to the QB battle and hope they all step up.
The QB battle is far from settled. Based on performance I would say Thomas really showed he belongs in the conversation as to who will start.
Leadership will play a major role if they are all the same. Seems like the offense should be a QB’s dream. Potent running game will only make the quick throws that much easier.
Very true.
From all reports Mayfield is the locker room leader. Unless or until he displays leadership on the field we are left to ponder who will.
Skill players on the field at the same time, be fun to watch.
QB (insert name)
RB Perine & Mixon – at the same time
WR/TE Andrews, Westbrook, Shepherd
Lots of talented ball players.
Now all we need is a gutty gamer at QB.
https://youtu.be/LgI396kJlOc
I knew most those guys on OU and played against a lot of them in HS. I was at OU during the down years. After 80, the other years weren’t kind to Switzer. I was graduated in 83 and things turned around.
I dunno, coach, JC put the ball right in the hands of a defender twice, and missed the “linebacker dropping back in the window” that should have ended the game.—Just kidding…I totally agree..What a great, gutty performance from a true champ…and how bout Rhodes!!
No doubt that about Mayfield being respected and liked but I still hear same about Knight as well. I have also heard that in the closed scrimmages that Lincoln is allowing Knight to use his legs and it is showing and paying dividends.
Two more thoughts on mayfield is that he should know the offense better than any of the QBs so the fact that the race looked very even doesn’t bid well for him. Second is that throwing picks was a problem he showed at tech and it seemed to show again yesterday. Just trying to do too much or just not seeing the field. Either way throwing the INT will not get you PT
not “all reports,” I read fairly recently that Knight was leading in the leadership/command respect department, if not on the field…
Glad to hear it.
Other sites saying he needs to get stronger and once when he pulled he didn’t get a lot of push. The lb on that play he couldn’t push? Tay Evans!!!
Hopefully summer will help his strength. Pulling for Tay and all of the LB’s this year.
Um yes, I was practically skipping in the gym Friday when Willies Roadhouse(Sirius) was playing Rocky Top
LOL!
I watched Stoop’s postgame, and he was talking about why Samaje had to wear blue numbers. He first talked about Samaje not getting hurt, but then said he didn’t want Samaje hurting the defenders. I got a kick outta that!
LOL!
Good move by Coach.
There must be something wrong with the site. I haven’t seen any updates since yesterday before the game.
They probably are saving them up for Monday when there is more traffic.
I’ve seen that before. Try setting the “sort by” (should be just above the Join the Dicussion box) to newest rather than best.
I’ll be glad to just see some actual QB development & progression from now until Akron. It’ll be more than any QBs have done since Landry was a sophomore. ((And Wilson left))
My takeaways from the game.. Mike in the booth is a big plus for the defense.. & we have a lot more speed on offense than we’ve seen in recent years…
The speed we have on offense now is significant.
The speed on defense isn’t shabby, when Humphrey caught a pass and broke into the middle of the field I thought he was gone. I was very surprised when two DBs caught him.
Completely agree, I thought the same thing when Dede broke loose a couple of times…
Yessir, I was pleasantly surprised when they got Dede.
After dede’s first catch I was like
The boy has wheels. For sure.
We need a Boom. Hey Jordan, if you are out there what are you hearing?
Just wasn’t a very busy weekend. Couple of the kids who were expected didn’t make it. No new offers were handed out (at least that we’re aware of at the moment). Very good visit for Kelly, but he was never making a decision this weekend so not a ton to report in what way of news there either.
Darn
Running game looked strong. Daniel brooks needs to get the ball somehow. I know he is not as big based on the last 2 spring games Brooks can run between tackles and has great speed as well. Ross is not very good between tackles.
Secondary still has issues. They had picks but most were just bad decisions more than good plays.
Perine. (Enough said)
Two of the picks were great plays (1 by db AThomas and the tip by Tay that led to Byrd pick) by the defense
That is true I guess. At the moment I was just not counting because Byrd was beaten so bad but it was good play by the defense. Good call
At 5’8″ 185lbs I wouldn’t call Brooks small, he is well put together. With his power, speed and elusiveness I would love to see him in some packages.
I think Riley likes him…said that was his worst practice (usually breakin 50 yarder tds in practice…I believe he will get a good number of snaps
Here
Been there.
But I’ve never been to me.
Hear that.
Wonder if the game will show up on youtube as it has in the past, so those of us who were away on Sat can check it out…
I’ve heard if you go to the Soonersports website and click on the Spanish version you can watch it but may want to turn off the audio. I have it on DVR and have not tried so don’t hold me to that.
¡El Equipo de Primavera! ¡Muy Bien! 🙂 Let’s see if I can understand when they say “running back” and “Perine” and “air raid.” How fun! Thanks for the pointer.
Nothing against Mexicans but why do they get it free…grrrrr
Dude. Really?
Really…been nice to get to view on SS for free in english as well
I havent seen Mixon since the fall. He looks like he put on some good muscle in the offseason. Looking forward to him playing in the fall. Also the OL wasnt bad but its definitely a work in progress. Not sure theres a clear starter at LT. KF looked like the best tackle, I think hes locked up the right side. It was a good time, the crowd was great as usual.
