2015 Depth Chart Speculation

Image via Tulsa World

If the title to this post wasn’t evidence enough, let me just start by further clarifying this is purely speculation on my part. I made some….leaps in judgment shall we call them…you may not have made in some instances, and I’ll do my best to explain/justify them below. However, in the meantime, if you want to rip me and/or this two-deep, be my guest.

I was bored at work and this is the by-product of said boredom.

I figured we could just start top-to-bottom, left-to-right.

* We’ve known all along that OT was going to be an issue with the loss of Daryl Williams and Tyrus Thompson from this 2014 squad. I/we keep hearing the coaches rave about the work St. John has put in, but given their track record of over-selling on that kind of stuff I’m not entirely sure how confident I am in either of the guys I have listed as starters above. Interior starters I felt was pretty much a no-brainer. But look at how young and inexperienced they are at every single backup spot. Wow.

* Obvious cop-out on my part with the ‘OR’ on the QB spot, but I’m just not convinced they actually open things up this spring. You could convince me Mayfield wins the job regardless, but the way Stoops reacted to the question in his presser Wednesday about whether or not Knight would start the bowl game stuck with me.

* RB is what it is heading into 2015….loaded.

* I have no idea who the backup FB is that I listed, but his picture on the official roster spoke to me.

* I know you’ve heard the same rumors I have regarding Taylor McNamara. I’m not here to tell you it’s 100% going to happen, but there’s enough smoke there in my opinion I went ahead and went with the guys I did. And, yes, they’ve apparently convinced Andrews to make the switch.

* At WR, I’m sure you will be quick to notice who I didn’t include. I know what has been said here on TOP regarding Dorial Green-Beckham, and I know there are others who will swear to you he’s coming back. For the purposes of putting this together, I tried to apply common sense (which will factor in again later). To me, the NFL is the decision that I believe makes the most sense. I’m definitely not saying that’s what I want to happen, but if you had a gun to my head that’s what I’m picking. As for the rest, I don’t really feel like there were many surprises. I don’t think they’re pushing so hard for Westbrook if the expectation wasn’t for him to come in and play right away. And there were a number of guys who could be in the Jordan Smallwood spot, as he is another guy the coaches have wildly oversold to date.

* Seibert is one of, if not the, top kickers (and punters) in the country, so it may be somewhat presumptuous of me to pencil him in as the starting PK as a true freshman….but oh well.

* You could easily convince me Walker would be the guy over Dimon, I think those two are pretty much interchangeable in that spot. Again, much like with DGB, I don’t have Jordan Phillips listed here because of where he’s being included on some mock draft rankings. With his back issues and even though he got that year of eligibility back, I could totally see him deciding it’s time to start getting paid to play while he can. Obviously, I’d love to see him back in Norman next year. But if I’m applying common sense here, I think there’s a strong argument for him to leave early. Thus, I have Jordan Wade — he who practically never saw the field in 2014 — penciled in as the starter at the nose. I certainly don’t know if that will happen, but I do know you can’t have a 280 pound guy anchoring the middle of your 3-4. If Phillips were to leave, Wade is really the only guy that makes sense. But he clearly fell out of favor this past season, so he’d obviously have to remedy that for this “prediction” to be correct.

* LB….yikes. It’s exactly what we’ve seen in recent weeks to close out the 2014 season and the results have not exactly been ideal. Outside of Striker, they just lack truly elite talent. Maybe Jordan Evans can get there at some point, but is that going to happen next year? And while I believe Alexander to be a serviceable player, I don’t think he’s ever displayed the ability to be a true difference maker on the inside….no matter how many tackles you want to tell me he has made. And, again, my lord the lack of depth. Yet here we sit, less than two months from NSD, and not a single 2015 LB commit in the fold. Oh, and I can already hear someone typing to tell me how they heard Bolton is at MLB, not OLB. I’ve “heard” that as well, but never actually heard an OU coach say it publicly. Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t. Until I hear definitively one way or the other, 6’2″ 210 lbs doesn’t make any more sense to me for a MLB than the undersized guys they already have there currently. And, yes, I know what Bob said about Frank Shannon on Wednesday. But that’s just one of those things I’m going to have to see first before I actually believe it.

* Three of the four secondary spots I feel are absolute locks. That other safety spot though, I just don’t know. It’s so bad at safety, I had to actually list Sunderland in two-deep. Like what the hell is that about? Which is in no way whatsoever a shot at Sunderland, but OU should never be in a position where I have to list a true freshman who won’t even be on campus until the summer as a backup by default. Backup corners….who knows. Depends probably as much on who is here in the spring/summer more than anything.

* Admittedly wishful thinking on my part that the coaches realize they can’t just put a guy back on punt returns and tell him to fair-catch everything. Why voluntary concede that part of a game? Ross is obviously a no-brainer on KR, and I just kind of want to see what Brooks could do with his speed. Although I do have one question. Why do you even have to put two guys back there to begin with? I know you remember the tv broadcasts showing Ross and Neal would try and be all clever and only split at the last second before the kickoff? Why put two guys back there and give them the option of kicking to the guy who wasn’t one of the top KRs in the entire country?

Not bad…start think the Brown and Frison get a lot of action and are going to be STUDS.

Can see PJ Mbanasor starting if he signs.

Why Byrd over A. Thomas next year and not this year?

Defense can’t get that much worse.

Can we use a CB when we play nickel and not another safety who can’t cover?

    • Zack says:

I think brown and frison will play a lot but not start from day one unless injuries occur.
Pj will play next year but I doubt he starts games but they will play him a ton and let him get experience at this level so he can start in 2016

I agree 100% that an extra corner is needed not a third safety. As a matter of fact I would like one safety (Parker) and 4 corners.

  • OmorganU says:

Guessing you don’t have to much faith in Shannon coming back next year?

    • SoonerfanTU says:

I noticed that too. With Stoops saying he expects him back, I’d like to have seen where Jordan would have penciled him in on the depth chart.

    • CTSooner says:

I don’t’ think you put him in the two deep until he is re-instated.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

Then you shouldn’t pull Phillips or McNamara until they actually announce something. Same with DGB. 😉

  • hushnpa says:

    low kicks

  • SoonerfanTU says:

What is the rumor on McNamara? Transferring I guess?

  • SoonerSouthoftheRed says:

    * I have no idea who the backup FB is that I listed, but his picture on the official roster spoke to me.

HAHA..love it. Dude looks like he just got out of a prison yard scuffle and ready to block some middle linebackers.

    • Indy_sooner says:

If he is remotely anywhere the Rip and Millard, I will take him. Gundy has proven to be a BEAST with RBs and now apparently FBs too…

    • Zack says:

Someone posted his hudl here last week. He’s not afraid of contact.

    • nate g says:

Joey Fingers is alright. Transferred from a small school back east. But nothing like a Ripkkowski.

    • Spike1545 says:

You may not know him now, but he is going to make some noise. I have heard only good things, plus he was scout team POY. I have faith in this kid, excited to see him get an opportunity next year.

  • SoonerFan11 says:

Frank Shannon Starts at MLB…. I hope he comes back and Stoops expects him to come back….. Wouldn’t surprise me if Brooks transferred…. I think Ijalana starts at TE because of his physical tools… I see all three TE’s getting PT though…. Tough to argue with your spots but I would go out on a limb and say that Brown or Frison starts at RT…. But good stuff Jordan….. This will be a little more clear to look at after Spring…. Todd is sleeper WR and would be interested to see what kind of jump he makes…..

    • Zack says:

Even if shannon is back, I don’t think he will start. I think Evans and Alexander are better athletes.

    • Clint Lenard says:

I heard a rumor that Frison might be one of the best Tackles in the Stoops era. I would have assumed Brown would be really good, but have heard a lot about Frison for some reason.

    • SavageSoonerEsq says:

Plenty of talent. But there seems to be more questions than answers. These questions coupled with the alleged state of the program gives me bad vibes. Hope I’m wrong. Phillips coming back, DGB staying, Mayfield continuing to make strides, Shannon coming back, Mixon coming back, actually signing all of our verbal commits & closing strong with players like Gallimore could be the perverbial hump OU needs to cross to make the playoffs. Signing guys like Deberry & Haughton will be HUGE! At the moment it just seems like a house of cards.

  • bmrsnr says:

I think Marcus Green will be at safety.

  • Indy_sooner says:

The fact that Stoops remotely has an interest in having Shannon back is a HUGE positive IMO. Obviously it remains to be seen, but I thought they had burned that bridge a long time a go. Him being back is a huge morale booster.

    • ND52 says:

Why wouldn’t Stoops want him back @indy_sooner:disqus? It’s not like he did anything wrong.

      • Indy_sooner says:

Know Stoops personally would want him back, but I was under the impression that he would follow whatever sanctions the university imposed, and the university was adamant about killing Shannon’s appeal.

  • Zack says:

I don’t see quick playing special teams unless he makes massive strides with ball security. He dropped passes left and right. I like his upside but there’s a reason we only had like 70 punt return yards. They value possession more than field position.

  • Ed Cotter says:

    Good two deep Jordan.

  • Zack says:

Can we arrange a meeting for DGB with tony jefferson??

    https://twitter.com/tonyjefferson1/status/545726462805155842

    • Clint Lenard says:

And Tony Jefferson with an English teacher 😉 (people were messing with him yesterday, but he keeps doing it lol)

    • Indy_sooner says:

Agree with this, but DGB will most likely would be a round 1, if not top 10 pick.

      • JB says:

I think DGB would get drafted, but with his baggage, and no time on the field after getting kicked out of Mizzou, I don’t see him going that high. Randy Moss fell to 21 in the draft and he played for Marshall and kept his nose clean for a year or two off the field before that draft.

      • ND52 says:

IMHO, there are several teams out there who wouldn’t take him in the first round based solely on his baggage alone. No team wants the next Ray Rice on their squad.

        • Indy_sooner says:

Plausible and makes sense. It would do him alot of good to put a year in, do the Haiti thing even…

  • hemisooner says:

Sunderland wont be in the two deep

    • Zack says:

Probably not but we don’t have any other safeties committed to put there yet.

      • hemisooner says:

Haha that is true. If he plays, we are in big trouble

        • Zack says:

I think most players should RS unless they are truly special type of players. I don’t see that from Sunderland he will need a lot of work but he could be good he definitely has the measurables and seems to be a gym rat.

          • hemisooner says:

I dont either. Ive watched the kid and was unimpressed with what i saw. Reminded me of A thomas. Very stiff in the hips, has decent straight line speed

  • hemisooner says:

I believe you left off Orso. Orso better than dj ward

  • Randy White says:

Got a feeling about this 5’5″ walk on. Punt returner next year.

    • hemisooner says:

      What’s his name

      • Sooner Ray says:

Aaron Sims. Tex provided info on him in the open post.

      • Randy White says:

I don’t know much about him but anyone of his stature who’s successful in HS then Juco and gets a peferred walk on at a major D1 school must have some grit. Maybe I’m just remembering little Joe and routing for the underdog.

    • EasTex says:

He was just named the offensive MVP of his state championship game.
He is an athlete. Fast, quick, great hands and high points very well. He is feisty and needs to cool that down some.
Wish we could bottle his competitiveness and give it to bigger athletes.

  • OklaSooner says:

Jordan, can you help me find a positive in this post? 🙁

    • OklaSooner says:

      Guess RB…

    • hemisooner says:

The only good news is at least we wont be ranked high. So low expectations for next year

    • JB says:

I think this is why so many of us are up in arms with the OU program right now. There just aren’t enough positives to inspire any kind of optimism. Our running game, and maybe the OL, but that’s about it. My crimson glasses are broken, and I’m all out of sunshine to pump.

I said a while back that OU is as far away from winning a national championship as they have been under Stoops. Why? Lack of talent, lack of coaching, and poor recruiting for positions of need (LB, CB, QB, TE, etc.). Of course, I was told I was an idiot, that I was crazy, that I didn’t know what I was talking about. And then we lose to oSu, and we are destined for the Russell Athletic Bowl (whoopty doo). Yesterday, TFB told us about a day-long meeting between Boren and Stoops to discuss the problems that fans and donors have with the program. Today, TFB told us that there is much chaos in the program and only Bob & Cale (and later Monty & Bedenbaugh) are the only people safe in their job.

I guess I wasn’t so crazy after all (although I’m sure boomersooner’s fingers are just waiting to type out a reply to this to somehow explain that I’m crazy, stupid, wrong, etc., for pointing out these obvious problems with the Sooner program).

      • james babcock says:

Don’t worry because boomersooner and eas tex all they do is criticize people who don’t drink there kool aid .

        • EasTex says:

          Calling me out?
I’ve told you before to avoid me, I will avoid you and there will be no problem. But no, you have to start it up again you ignorant sanctimonious festering meat-bag.
For the record, your very first post here after the Kst. game was calling for Bob Stoops to be fired. Not only absurd, but inappropriate.
You consistently misspell words, lie and yet you expect to be embraced as having superior knowledge about OU football.
Not a chance and I will never let you off easy if you dare engage me or mention my name.
I’ve had jalapeno farts that were wiser than you and probably smell better.

          • james babcock says:

I know this hurt’s but golden boy bob stoop’s won his national championship with mostly john blake kid’s he is 0 and 3 in national title games with his on kid’s end of story or did you forget those where john blake’s kid’s come back eas tex when you have your fact’s straight.

          • EasTex says:

The only thing that hurts is having to repeat myself to an ignorant oxygen thief like you.
DO NOT ADDRESS ME DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY!!!
I want nothing to do with you.
I don’t care what you believe, do, feel or think.
Your opinions and thoughts have no value to me.
            You are a SILLY PERSON.

  • Boom says:

I’m optimistic but realistic. There will have to be some major strides in certain position groups before we turn the corner. In addition, we are skating on thin ice as we can’t afford any big injuries. Quality depth on D is not there at this point and it will be awhile before we see a 2 deep that could scare some folks. My hope is there will be some serious coaching going on and leaders emerge to make the next team full of overachievers.

  • Michael Brock says:

Have heard multiple times that Alverez is backup center, not a guard. Also, Bolton is an ILB not an OLB. And the fact you don’t even have Shannon on the 2 deep is laughable! Also, Mixon will return kicks next year with Ross. Good luck covering that one to opposing teams!

    • boomersooner says:

“And, yes, I know what Bob said about Frank Shannon on Wednesday. But that’s just one of those things I’m going to have to see first before I actually believe it.”

      there you go hoss

    • Clint Lenard says:

At least you’re not angry over this.

    • keith moore says:

If Farniok is our starting Right Tackle we are in a world of hurt. He has the slowest feet of any D1 tackle I have ever seen. Simply cannot keep up with a D End at this level. Serviceable in the run game, but a liability as a pass protector. Surely we have someone better at this position, or whoever plays QB will need life insurance.

    • nate g says:

Alvarez worked at both guard and center. Might be good enough to get on the field in rotation at guard next year.

  • boomersooner says:

“However, in the meantime, if you want to rip me and/or this two-deep, be my guest.
I was bored at work and this is the by-product of said boredom.”

this gave me a good chuckle right here.
looks good to me. seems you put quite a bit of work in it. thanks for putting it up

  • JD says:

I have Westbrook at PR just because he reminds me of Saunders in his film and has speed to burn

  • james babcock says:

Jordan if that’s are two deep depth chart we are headed for a four or five loss season next year and if that happens the bob stoop’s era is over in norman like to get your take on that.

    • Randy White says:

Doom and gloom!! I choose to have more faith in young men to develop and perform at a high level.

      • james babcock says:

Randy i am not doom and gloom i just don’t see the talent that it takes to win championship’s if you see the talent where is it .

        • boomersooner says:

there you go changing your arguments again. you said 4 or 5 losses and bob’s gone then change it to no championship

          • EasTex says:

Don’t know why he even gets a response after the nonsense he has spewed here since day one.

          • boomersooner says:

Because I keep forgetting who it is then he feels sorry for himself and it reminds me that its ole dudley doggy guy

        • Randy White says:

James, show me someone who was predicting Perine would be a breakout star. You never know how young men will develop and perform.

          • Syyner says:

There was all kinds of hype around him in spring/summer

          • Randy White says:

What I remember was that Mixon and Ford were going to be the stars and Perine would get cleanup if he didn’t redshirt.

          • Syyner says:

I heard nothing but how he was an absolute beast. My buddies and I always pick one breakout star each season and he’s who I picked!

          • Randy White says:

Maybe I’m wrong, wouldn’t be the first time. My point was you just can’t know how these young men will develop and perform whether their freshmen or have been in the system a year or so. I choose to be positive.

          • Syyner says:

I used to be that way once upon a time…

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

C’mon man. There is only one OU. They are not going to go 8-5 or whatever two years in a row. I don’t see Knight or Mayfield throwing games away again. 11-1 Playoffs baby!

      • james babcock says:

I will say the same thing to you and randy i hope to god i am wrong and we win all are games next year. problem is there are people on this site who criticize me always because i just don’t think we are headed in the right direction.

      • hemisooner says:

9-3 losing to baylor and tcu and some upset.

        • james babcock says:

I say 8 and five if no quarterback or receiver emerges we could be looking at even more losses next year’s schedule is tougher than this year was.

        • HoustonChiver says:

We will be better than TCU next year, could’ve beaten them this year. Texas game and Tennessee games are a toss up, Baylor should beat us next year. Other than that I don’t see many chances for us to lose.

      • Syyner says:

Next year’s schedule is tougher than this and with the lack of talent and good coaching it’s highly plausible

  • Indy_sooner says:

Stoops says that Shannon is working his way back and is doing things right and per the terms, can be back in May. Why then would Shannon not want to come back and finish his year? Does it not do him more good to get a year in before getting declaring?

    • Mizuno44 says:

I’m new to the site with comments, but I get what you’re saying. This site is awesome, full of people who know football. I have been critical at times, but it’s because I believe in OU football. I’m dating myself, but I got hooked at seven years old, back in the days before cable, only channels 2, 6, 8, and 11 brother, and the only games televised were Texas and Nebraska. Big Eight football, wishbone!! Some of us are critical because we care, we’re freaking OU! Time for a wake up call, that’s all I’m saying!

That’s cool but I’m talking about these people who think they’re gonna show up and change what these guys do and question the manner in which they provide info. To those I would say this place isn’t for them and they need to be shown the door

  • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

I think that OU will play some games next season. They’ll win some and lose one or more. At the end of the season they’ll play one or more games, winning or losing one or more of those. I also speculate that at some point their season will end.

    This is my speculation.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Farniok is a stiff at RT. Big, but, last I saw 2013, no footwork. Start Brown.

  • Syyner says:

I guess I must’ve missed it but what’s the rumor about McNamara?

  • JB says:

“…given their track record of over-selling on that kind of stuff I’m not entirely sure how confident I am in either of the guys I have listed as starters above”

I still remember Bob telling us before the season that this was as talented a defense as he’s had at OU. Yeah, I can see where this defense really stacks up against that one with Torrence Marshall, Rocky Calmus, Roy Williams, Derrick Strait, etc. *sarcasm*

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Just for fun why can not compare Bama’s two-deep with ours. Just to gauge where OU is at. Given that Bama has recruited at or near the top for a number of years, it might help to compare back ups.

  • nate g says:

Good 2 deep. I’d have Quick, Walker, Shannon starting. Green plays safety. I’d be all for them ditching their 3-4 tho

  • Hotrod33 says:

Right now I’m hoping that the coaching staff plays the best players to put us in the best possible position to win games. Sometimes I wonder if they play some of these upperclassmen because they stayed out of trouble and did good things most of their careers. But also at the same time do we have the talent for these guys to make a push for playing time. I’m hoping that every position is open and that the best players will be put on the field. Just hearing coaches rave about certain players and this and that is old and a waste of our times. We need to see the results on the field not in practice. This will be an interesting offseason with a lot of speculation on who might play, start and transfer.

  • Cary Newman says:

Wonder if the staff may take a look at Bond at ILB in the spring. There was talk of that when he first arrived last spring.

    • Mysterio1 says:

Bond is 240, why not give him a shot?

    • nate g says:

You don’t need big ILBs with your DEs playing 4i technique. Run D wasn’t the problem this year.

      • Cary Newman says:

For the past two seasons, our LB play has been mediocre at best, being constantly dragged for additional yards after contact. Run D was not really tested this year when teams could chunk it all over the lot to wide open WRs.

  • Fear The Magic says:

Id make a few slight modifications. Deberry starting at MLB Wheeler starting OLB Haughton 1string Safety Reid starting CB Barnett and Wariboko starting at both guard positions and Galimore 1st string DE……..and yes, I have been drinking.

  • Mysterio1 says:

The mystery of Tyler McNamara? This is the first I’ve heard of a transfer, but it sounds about right.

    • soonerthunder says:

Me too. N/heard what you’ve heard about him. Hope he’s back and also DGB of course. Who is Westbrook? No quick there?

      • Sooner Ray says:

Quick was listed, Westbrook is the JUCO receiver we signed this week. Too soon to say which one gets more playing time next season.

    • Zack says:

I’m not sure why he would want to transfer now since the starting job is right there for him. But I think this rumor is being taken seriously because he mentioned home sickness in the past. I would like to know his reason for leaving when/if he decides to leave.

  • Paul Warfield says:

Frison has been playing right tackle I believe.
Lindley has been an outside linebacker for two seasons and will be there again next year.
Bolton has been playing inside linebacker and not outside.
Wade also was just beat out by Romar for the number two spot.
And hasn’t Green been working at safety? Either way I have a hard time seeing him over Stanvon Taylor if Stanvon doesn’t transfer.
I would also say that Quick will either start somewhere or see a lot of snaps.

    • nate g says:

Lindley plays some SAM in short yardage situations and stuff. But his book has basically been written.

      • Paul Warfield says:

I suppose. I was just pointing out that there are a few players he has listed who don’t even play the positions listed. Seems like a major oversight by an actusk Oklahoma site…expected from ESPN…not from TFB.

  • Brad Warren says:

No Mixon? Think he’ll be 3rd behind Ford?

    • Sooner Ray says:

I think the RB order behind Perine is wide open and will be fun to watch. Once Anderson is thrown in, the order could change once again. Gundy will either have a lot of fun over the next few months or lose sleep trying to figure it out.

      • Zack says:

It will be interesting to see Anderson competing with this group of guys. I believe he’s been timed at 4.45. Even mixon is 4.5 so he may have more speed than is expected.

        • mgcsooner says:

Gotta admit I was most impressed with this guy. He is as patient a runner as I’ve seen, + speed, + strength. Another back with great hands.

  • nisakat2 says:

    not one wr over 6ft.

  • curt gomer says:

According to this Mbanasor doesn’t make the 2 deep? Or is this with the thought we may not get him? If we do and he comes in as advertised its hard to imagine him not being in there with a secondary (outside of Sanchez) that really couldn’t cover anyone.

    • Zack says:

If mbanasor was an early enrollee then I think he would be on there but it will be tough for him to play early in the season.

    • Sooner Ray says:

You do realize this list is just a fun time killer and not official right?

      • curt gomer says:

Yeah i have a lot of admiration for the brainiacs insight but i never thought stoops had them set his depth chart. Just curious if mbabasor wasn’t in there maybe there thinking he isnt coming.

        • Sooner Ray says:

I hope he’s coming, we dang sure need him.

          • curt gomer says:

Without a doubt!! I’m so tired of watching our DBs get smoked i could throw up!! If we keep him and can get Orr, DeBerry and LB vandy commit Josh Smith things could really be looking up. We have a good shot with each of them i believe.

        • boomersooner says:

Some play with dolls, some set the 2 deep. Just what some do with spare time. I’d side with the latter but if you’re the former that’s cool too

  • Glocal Sooner says:

Thanks for adding another fun post for us to debate. I’m assuming you have a bit more insight into some personnel issues that I do so I’ll take your word for most of it. At Free Safety, I have no clue what to think. At Punt Returner, I think we’ll see Westbrook back there based on what I’ve read about him. At LCB, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Will Johnson there. Hoping to see Frank Shannon at MLB but I understand why you didn’t put him in there.
Any word on our other TE Isaac Ijalana? He was a JUCO transfer last year. I thought maybe he would get some playing time this year with Bell but that didn’t happen and you don’t have him in the 2 deep.
I’ll be curious to see what our entire defense looks like next season. I think we need a complete makeover but that won’t likely happen.

  • mgcsooner says:

Flip the TE order, really doubt Smallwood and Mead make the 2 deep as they didn’t impress at all in limited appearances–esp with all the Smallwood hype, would replace with Todd if for no other reason than next up and Humphrey to stretch the field. Flip Walker and Dimon. On def backfield think there will be some shake ups. FS Parker and Mbanasor and SF Cortez Johnson finally makes field and Sunderland. Also Green and Mbanasor could flip.

I’m still unsettled on LB but don;t have solution. We’re great run stoppers, but can’t cover for squat– as a unit.—

    • SCKSChief says:

Agreed on the WR front. Not at all impressed with either Smallwood or Mead.

On the QB front, I hope this coaching staff can step away from allegiances and be truly objective about the “best” QB for this team. I don’t know that it IS Mayfield, but I’d sure like to see him in some meaningful spots to make sure.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

No issues with this.. Other than Stoops seems to believe Shannon will be here, if so, he starts over Evans.. & i think one of the young big receivers will be in the mix to start. If Mixon is here, i think he’s right behind Perine.. I think Phillips is back too.. But that’s a total guess..

  • Coach K says:

Mcnamara asked for his release a few weeks back.

DGB is telling teammates he will be back next year, doesn’t mean he will as they say they are not sure what he is going to do.

I hope Mixon doesn’t leave, however I could see it since his father moved here this year after the incident to make him face the music.

  • Swanny says:

    No Frank Shannon?

  • Spartacus says:

Very close to mine. But I got Frison starting at RT, Romar at NG, Westbrook at PR, and I’m not sure where you got your measurements on Ahmad Thomas but you’re way off. Other than that pretty much exactly like mine.

  • ratman says:

Phillips actually got an extra year (medical) so he has 2 left. He won’t use 2 but maybe 1. NFL people that count (scouts) not mock drafts are scared of his health and would like to see more I am hearing.

  • Mark Evans says:

I truly believe Mayfield will “will” his way to starter. Trevor should enjoy the bowl game as I think he will be a backup the remainder of his career. Not a bad thing. As for the rest of the depth chart, doesn’t much matter until coaches quit overselling and start coaching up the players. Calling this program “stale” would be an epic understatement.

  • Birddawg says:

This is going to change a lot!! lol
