Dalton Wood Note (UPDATE 6:13 pm)

A few months ago it seemed like OU couldn’t catch a break. Lately, everything has been rolling in the Sooners direction. I have some more good news for Sooner fans.
I am told that 2015 signee and jumbo ATH, Dalton Wood has made it to Norman and is enrolled. I have been informed that he has not yet started practice and I don’t have any word on when he will begin practicing. Obviously, though, having him in Norman and enrolled is positive news.
We will let you know once we receive word that he is practicing with the team.
– UPDATE (6:13 pm): Just received word from a source that Dalton is, “expected to start practice soon.”

Absolutely. There are a number of times there where he appears to be faster then anyone the other team has on the field. And his acceleration is great for such a big man as well. VERY exciting player. I hope all of his personal issues are fixed because he is a rare athlete indeed.

with his speed and agility there are just so many options.

Everything I’ve read about dalton was that he had a kid in the last year and wasn’t ready to leave home.
He’s had the kid for a while, not just in the past year. Not sure his mind was made up to play college football. At this point with practices going on and him not involved may have made up his mind that he missed football. We’ll see.

He was one of the athletes i was most excited about I hope everything works out.
Really excited about this kid. Hope he has his issues worked out. Don’t see him playing this year after missing so much, but if he can stick it out he has a chance to be special.
This guy is going to tear up what ever side of the ball he’s on. He’s a monster at the highschool level, he’ll be passing out rekt at the college level.

After a long day at work balancing end of year funds and approving travel authorizations, this news definitely made my day! This kid looks like a Ripkowski/Blake Bell hybrid, really hope things work out for him (both on and off of the field).

Thursday night, reports surfaced that McAlester tight end Dalton Wood had reported to campus. Those reports turned out to be false.
The Oklahoma Football Twitter account denied the reports.
“Erroneous info out there on Dalton Wood. He was not at practice today and, in fact, has not reported,” it tweeted at 8:45 p.m. Friday.
Wood signed with the Sooners in February but showed up several days late when summer workouts began. He left campus the same day.
OU coach Bob Stoops said last Saturday at Media Day he was not expecting the three-star recruit to report.
“He hasn’t been here all summer,” Stoops said. “We wish him the best. We haven’t had a lot of conversations about that.”
BUT IN BETTER NEWS
Roberts cleared: The Tulsa World reported Friday junior college transfer Austin Roberts will report to camp Saturday.
Roberts couldn’t enroll until he received his associate’s degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. After a two-week delay, NEO has officially cleared him.
The defensive end from Warner Robins, Georgia, committed to Alabama out of high school, but was forced to attend junior college. He picked OU over Nebraska this spring.
The 6-foot-6, 265-pound defensive end has two years of eligibility remaining.
To me, Roberts is more important than Wood so I am happy!
This deal makes me think the rumor was a planted story to out the source 🙂
