Big 12 Media Days Open Post

Image via USA Today

Just wanted to give you all a hang out spot specifically for Day Two of Big 12 media days. Mainly so things don’t get lost in the shuffle as they can tend to do when the comment count starts to get a little out of hand.

We can debate whether anything of substance will actually be said, be it on the part of OU’s contigent in attendance or otherwise, but it is the first time we’ll have a chance to hear from Bob Stoops and many others in some time.

So if you’re interested, feel free to hang out in here today.

I’am curious as to see Bob’s demeanor.
Last year, he was cool and confident. He had all the momentum from the sugar bowl win.
This year, with a down year. I would like to see the Bob with a chip on his shoulder.

    • OUWade says:

does a “tipped ball” mean, if the guy who roughed the kicker got a piece of it before he plows through the kicker? I’ve actually always kind of wondered how that rule worked.

  • SoonerGoneEast says:

Had the day off, but I completely forgot about BIG XII media day and came to work anyway.

  • SoonerGoneEast says:

Dvoracek is interviewing Oakman right now. I think Dusty could take him. He’s still got that look.

  • OceanDescender says:

I bet the CFP dude will answer approximately a bazillion questions on how/why TCU or Baylor didn’t make the playoff.

    • JRE says:

Can you clarify why you banned a user yesterday?

      • Jordan Esco says:

I think it was pretty obvious.

        • JRE says:

So you won’t clarify your reasoning?

          • Jordan Esco says:

I don’t have to, but what would you like to know?

          • JRE says:

Can you clarify why you banned a user yesterday?

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

I’m sure it was a cumulative thing, not just what you witnessed yesterday. Regardless, he made TFB a less enjoyable place to be and not because of his opinions.. That is reason enough for his removal.

          • cpearc00 says:

            Who was banned?

          • JRE says:

A pessimistic, frequent commenter over the last few weeks.

          • cpearc00 says:

SoonerLove? Stephen Dale? There are so many. How does one know when someone gets banned?

          • Sooner Ray says:

            Think it was Cbusta

          • KJ1123 says:

I was wondering where he was during the Draper news, thought he would be all over that.

          • JRE says:

The moderators make a big public spectacle of shaming them.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

I’ve been following Esco for years before he TFB was even in existence. He’s not trying to make a spectacle of anyone and never has. What he’s trying to do is preserve the peaceful, friendly environment that’s been carefully crafted by him, K and others through countless hours of hard work and perseverance.

          • JRE says:

Fair enough, I enjoy this site and am just trying to seek clarification from a moderator regarding how/why the decision was made. Won’t understanding the ground rules for commenting just make this a better community?

          • SoonerBredCD says:

            JRE = Matteon?

          • rphokc says:

lol, beautiful, thxs………..curious and I went into his posting history……..lengthy, precise, matteon-like discussion on what is political and my thought was matteon exactly……geez, what a war that would be and how many pages

          • JRE says:

You mean the one time I commented prior to today? Yeah I am really a nuisance on this site.

          • rphokc says:

            1) said nothing about nuisance……….2) you have a posting history back to 1/28/15…….some lecturing jordan like today………..

          • JRE says:

Lecture is your word not mine. I would agree with the rest of that.

          • rphokc says:

look, your rec for posting rules has merits, Instead of this confrontational, argumentative, bs style you like, why don’t you just scroll to the top and send in you thoughts on the form. The guys who run this are very nice and consider serious ideas. Then let it drop. Just a thought. Carry on.

          • JRE says:

Look I can’t help it if you think I am being argumentative. I can only reiterate that I asked Jordan a question that was both fair and respectful. He gave me an answer eventually in a manner that was pretty dismissive and disinterested…which I don’t believe to be either fair or respectful. However, I am satisfied with his response and am not seeking more from the Moderators about the issues of ground rules.

I appreciate you actually giving a real response to me. Your advice about sending my thoughts in through the form at the top of the page is good. Why not just say that first off? Maybe then we’d all be about 40 comments lighter.

          • Malicong says:

Why even be worried about it to begin with? We could have been about 50 comments lighter. If you are worried about being banned, then don’t comment. If you want to have a discussion, be respectful. You have been respectful so far in tone but your persistence for an quoteable answer for something that should be obvious is the exact thing that people are tired of hearing. Your comments are not a discussion, they are an agenda.

          • JRE says:

What agenda could I possibly have? I asked because I am a member of this community and I was curious. I have been persistent with seeking an answer up to the point that Jordan answered me. During and after that I was polite enough to respond to people that actually engaged me in conversation (you are included) in that list. I have joked with others who want to circle jerk and I have defended myself against people who have been less than respectful. If people don’t want this conversation here the mods can delete it for all I care. Like I said…my question was answered.

          • Malicong says:

What you want out of this site only you know, but there has yet to be a productive conversation in which you have participated.
You have attempted to call out Esco more than once. All people are saying is either actually contribute to an OU football discussion while being respectful or don’t comment.

          • JRE says:

You can frame my conversation however you want. You can twist my words around. It doesn’t matter to me. I think I have been incredibly respectful today…more so than most of the people that joined this comment tree. And forgive me if I have zero interest in what you say I should or shouldn’t be allowed to talk about. With all due respect the way I see it you have to options when I choose to comment. You can minimize them so they won’t bother you and then move on with your day….Or If I am being inappropriate or breaking the rules of this site flag me for it. But you’ll forgive me if I give zero shits about what you think about me or what I have to say.

          • Boom says:

Keep those attacks coming bro and I mean hard. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when you get banned. I say by tomorrow, anyone up for under/overs on this?

          • boomersooner says:

I’ll go with under a week

          • Drew says:

It’s pretty clear he’s just trolling now, just ignore him.

          • Drew says:

The way I see it, if you’re repeatedly disrespectful, engaging in personal attacks, and intentionally trying to cause trouble on a regular basis, then the mods here have the right to (and should) ban you. And in the year and a half I’ve been following this site, I haven’t seen them go beyond this.

So, like others before him, Cbusta was coming on here to bash on anyone and everyone that would reply to his rants, and then was disrespectful to the posters, mods, players, and the OU program. He’d been doing this for a few days, so he was banned.

Hope that was clear enough for you. If not, well, then I’ll be forced to believe you’re just sea lioning and don’t actually care.

          • JRE says:

You are perfectly clear. But you are not a moderator or the person who made the decision. I asked Jordan for a reason. I also never even suggested that the decision to ban Cbusta was the wrong decision. I just asked for clarity on the policies. Believe whatever you want to believe my friend.

          • hemisooner says:

Jordan doesn’t have to answer to you. This site is FREE so they can do whatever they want. now if you paid for the info different story but you don’t. so move on

          • JRE says:

Show me where I claimed to be entitled to anything?

          • hemisooner says:

            did i write entitled?

          • JRE says:

I believe it was implied. Perhaps I misinterpreted what you said. Perhaps I didn’t

          • hemisooner says:

why so concerned about a poster that was banned?

          • JRE says:

Because I like this site and wanted to know the ground rules. Why so intent on arguing with me?

          • boomersooner says:

I see your skit now. You are incapable of letting something go. I mean 1st you ask why someone would kick someone with the implication that that shouldn’t happen. Then you get mad at people for implying stuff to you. Why the hell someone getting kicked is that big a deal to you I’ll never know. Are you writing a book? 2nd people have tried to be polite at times and you become the biggest smartass I’ve ever seen. 3rd you were cool with me. I thought we had a pretty funny back and forth but now you’ve attacked several people who are respected around these parts. So please, pretty freaking please, stop attacking people

          • hemisooner says:

I like this site too but I could care less if Jordan banned the guy. Not my site. They don’t ban people that often but when they do it’s usually for a good reason.

          • Scott Moore says:

Can we talk about OU Sooner football? I haven’t been on in a while. wanting to catch up on…..drama that has nothing to do with the program? Let it be.

          • Drew says:

You asked the moderator, true, but I gave you a valid explanation to the question you asked. If that’s not enough for you, then too bad.

          • JRE says:

Do you have the ability to moderate this forum? If so…you should have said so. Your opinion would be more than enough to answer my question. If not….it doesn’t answer my question. I do appreciate your input, however.

          • three5s says:

JRE, this is a great and unique site about football, not second guessing website policy or decisions. Most, if not almost all of us, just logout when we see a discussion like the one you started. We are on this site to read and maybe talk about football. This site provides a ton of great information and the best atmosphere. If the mods who invented and sponsor this site decide to ban someone, they deserve the benefit of a doubt instead of being put on trial. Please get back to football.

          • JRE says:

I asked the mod a question. He answered it…mostly. I didn’t ask for popular opinion. If people didn’t care about that question (whether that be having a conversation with me or delegitimizing my point) they wouldn’t have commented.

          • Kelsta says:

For the record, a moderator did give you clarification for the decision. You continue to post because you don’t like the response. This isn’t other sites. TFB chose not to outline every detail of how a person should behave on their site. They have the right to ban. You’ve communicated your thoughts. At this point you’ll make one of three choices: Accept it, move on, or troll.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Big public spectacle? Um, okay. I posted one pic, humorous in nature to make light of the situation, and made one comment that I can recall in reference to it.

The guy had a history here, antagonized other posters, and called out TFB.

Honestly, he wouldn’t have lasted near as long as he did here elsewhere. If you were to ask any objective person, I feel confident they’d tell you I have a longer leash than most in terms of keeping people around and the ability to speak freely, even if it upsets some.

That guy yesterday crossed the line in my opinion. So he was banned. It’s that simple.

          • JRE says:

So what constitutes crossing the line? You may think of just being argumentative, but the rules for posting/banning are not (to my knowledge) posted anywhere.

          • Jordan Esco says:

What he did yesterday crossed the line, so that would be one example of what constitutes it.

          • JRE says:

You are truly a peach to have a conversation with.

          • Jordan Esco says:

            Thanks.

          • Fear The Magic says:

I believe crossing the line = when you go above and beyond the point of commenting negatively about OU’s program to the point where it no longer seems to be an opinion but instead an agenda. In other words, not here to criticize for positive reasons but more to just outright try and bash OU.

          • JRE says:

So he wasn’t antagonistic or caustic towards individual users? He was just being a major downer?

          • Fear The Magic says:

You dont have to be caustic towards individual users to have an agenda against a program.

          • JRE says:

Sure. I’m just confused about what actually got him banned. Some people have stated quite authoritatively that it’s because he was caustic and antagonistic. You are suggesting that he represents some sort of premeditated attack on the OU football program. The only person who knows is Jordan because he made the choice. This really should have been a pretty short conversation….but here we are.

          • Fear The Magic says:

I honestly dont remember if he was antagonistic towards others although I wouldnt doubt it as I’ve seen him be that way on the Scout board. By the way his agenda is very obvious there as well.
From what I can see, Jordan and the other Mods dont ban posters without having good reasons to do so. I think at times that if anything they’re more lenient than they should be.
Either way, I for one am glad that he was banned.

          • KJ1123 says:

Not to mention it’s “their” site and it’s free. They don’t have to show cause to ban anyone, they can just do it if they feel like someone is being problematic in any way, nor do they need to explain why. Jordan and the others are cool enough to say “hey knock it off”, but they really don’t need to, just swing the banhammer and move on.

          • JRE says:

I agree 100%. I’m not trying to make this a free speech issue. I understand that this is a private space….but Disqus is a service TFB uses. They recommend having guidelines for users. We don’t have guidelines.

          • JRE says:

That’s all fine and well, but there probably should be clear guidelines for so that users know what is and is not expected of them on this site. I’m not expecting that we should be able to do and say whatever we want…I’m not even suggesting that Jordan’s decision crossed any lines. But if it was the right call, his response would be a lot less defensive IMO.

          • Fear The Magic says:

Yeah I guess there could be clear guidelines but I think that most on here realize that those guidelines are pretty obvious. That being that we’re all entitled to express our opinion but just do it in a respectful way. In other words talk to others the way that you would like to be talked to. Its pretty simple.
Above and beyond that its fine to criticize OU when you have a problem in certain areas but if one comes on here time after time with only negative things to say then again, it goes beyong criticism and makes it look like more like an agenda.
This is a great board and the majority of us want to keep it that way.
In other words as far as guidelines are concerned. Just use your common sense.

          • JRE says:

The problem with ‘common sense’ and the ‘golden rule’ is that they can be interpreted and enforced subjectively. Take for example the way people treat stephen dale & others on here. It doesn’t matter what he says or how he says it…its met with personal attacks. That’s not the golden rule. That’s mob mentality and it mimics the way a middle school cafeteria pecking order is formed.

I still have yet to have any one put into words other than “it ought to be obvious.” To me what’s obvious is that if you take part in the circle jerking done by the most frequent commenters you are totally fine. If you don’t expect to be picked on.

          • Fear The Magic says:

Youre entitled to your opinion buI dont see it as a mob mentality at all. I dont think people in here pick on Stephen Dale because others do and they think that they can get away with it ( my definition of mob mentality ). Steven Dale is another example of a poster who seems to come in here with the sol intention to knock the Sooner program down. I dont see him offering up anything in the way of constructive criticism just a lot of negativity which is in no way beneficial.
I, like someone else who has mentioned it previously happen to find him pretty funny so while his opinions are annoying as all hell at least you can get a laugh out of them sometimes. I’m guessing thats the only reason he hasnt been banned as well.

          • JRE says:

Fair enough. Thanks for the actual conversation this afternoon. Don’t fear the magic….cause he’s an alright dude.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

            Mark it 8 Dude…

          • JRE says:

            Do what?

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

It was an attempt at humor but the picture didn’t upload and still won’t. Not sure if it is an issue on the site or my end. My apologies.

          • JRE says:

            Lebowski reference?

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Geez…finally got it to work, yes sir it is/was a Lebowski reference. Pretty much lost any humor at this point, if there was any to begin with.

          • JRE says:

It’s my fault good sir….for not being quick enough with my Lebowski recall 🙂

          • SoonerMGB56 says:

SoonerLove is certainly annoying, but CBusta was another level entirely.

And Stephan Dale is certainly Negative Nancy, sky-is-falling. But he’s kind of funny.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

            CBusta

          • SoonerMGB56 says:

            JRE = CBusta?

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

            Perhaps.

          • JRE says:

            Whatever you say.

          • JRE says:

Did you upvote your own post?

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

I think you are correct. there is an upvote on one of his comments, but it wont show who it is?

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Just putting two and two together.

          • JRE says:

Like murder rates and ice cream sales?

          • JRE says:

I’m going to actually just go ahead and call you a liar. It clearly says who upvoted me. You are a liar.

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Clearly you don’t know how this site works, sometimes in order to see the upvotes you have to refresh screen. I made my comment before refreshing so if that constitutes me being a liar “IN YOUR EYES” than so be it.

          • JRE says:

            I guess you’re not a liar.

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Well that means a lot. And sometimes people agree to disagree. Have a good day 😉

          • JRE says:

I don’t think we really disagree on anything that’s come up in this conversation. I have very little invested in CBusta or his privileges, but I have plenty of good reasons for trying to understand the guidelines of this community.

You and SoonerMGB56 sort of derailed what I think is a very important question for users of this community. I’m sure you were just trying to be funny, and I took the bait…so that’s on me.

          • JRE says:

Thanks for your reply, but I’d really rather hear from a moderator. I had no issue with his posts, even though I disagree with everything about them. What you are suggesting is that he annoyed everyone?

            Edit: He or she*

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

No, I’m suggesting that his speech was caustic and antagonistic.

          • JRE says:

So are a lot of people on here….our moderator included. Maybe I missed something that crossed the line.

      • boomersooner says:

This was a long pretty pointless conversation. Curious as to what your previous handle on here was

    • hOUligan says:

TK looks to be the starter game 1 with Mayfield’s shoulder woes setting him back. Hoping Cody begins to really click as I have the feeling he will see time as TK has been prone to injury, too.

      • KJ1123 says:

Looks like it, still thinking Thomas may be the one to emerge, but we’ll see.

        • hOUligan says:

Big kid at 6’4, good arm. Moves well enough. Would love to see him emerge and be the incumbent next season.

      • Fear The Magic says:

Lol Im thinking a lot of people on this board are going to be way bent out of shape if TK is actually named the starter game one. Even if he comes in and kills it it will take at least half a year before some of the TK trashers calm down a bit.

        • hOUligan says:

I just don’t get the ‘taking sides’ mentality, esp when it comes to the starting QB. Don’t we just want OUr QB to do well and win games, whoever is named starting QB? Hope TK kills it!! Makes for a great storyline, too.

          • Fear The Magic says:

I couldnt agree more. I dont have a horse in this race. I just want whoever can run Rileys system the best to find his way as the starter. I have confidence that will happen.
            Its only about OU winning.

          • Ed Cotter says:

Agree 1000% with your comment FTM. Right On!!

          • Fear The Magic says:

I agree 10,000% with your agreeing with my comment!

          • hOUligan says:

and I’m gonna just upvote the whole sheebang. BOOMER!!

          • Kelsta says:

I’ll take a guess at the mentality of those ‘taking sides’ against TK. They so firmly believe that he is not the right fit, has such limited upside, that hearing his name as starter for game 1 would be horrible news and simply means that the other 2 didn’t progress well.

For the record, I don’t agree. As many have mentioned, I just want the best option to win games.

        • KJ1123 says:

I think hes an easy target because most of us have seen him play the most in games. But if he emerges as the starter then he obviously outplayed the other two in camp so lets go with it and win some games!

        • Sooner 76 says:

If TK improves his decision making, protects the ball, and stays healthy, I’m all for it. He certainly has a high upside. Wouldn’t mind seeing some true zone read worked into the system either. I think he’s made for that play.

In the same way, I don’t care who starts at the safety spots, as long as they make quicker reads and cover the deep balls better than last year. If Dom starts at ILBer, I want to see him smoke the ball carriers much closer to the LOS and drop them in their tracks at first contact.

        • j l says:

Im going to be handing out lots of orders of crow if knight starts. Too many people have called me a moron over that prediction. Not on this board so much, but on FB.
          Cant wait

          • boomersooner says:

Right there with you on the crow eating. I want the Bob despisers to have seconds when he shoves it up their hind parts

        • Kelly Gurbcock says:

It’ll take several games for me to have faith in him. He came in and killed it against Bama, one game will not restore my faith. I think the talent is there though, TK is an athlete.

      • James Starr says:

Stoops said today that Mayfield was back throwing the football and would be ready for fall camp. Also said that Cody was having some shoulder fatigue also.

        • hOUligan says:

Thanx, James. Had read somewhere here that Bake was not throwing but would be ready for fall camp. Hope all these guys are ready for fall camp.

I don’t post often so I’ll start by saying I’m a Bob fan. I still think he’s the right coach for OU. BUT…I am so tired of the ‘say something but don’t really say anything’ phrases. It seems we hear this phrase every year we have a QB battle and I hate it. Protecting the ball is important for a QB. You might even say OU/Bob put more emphasis on it than most programs. But saying it like its the only criteria for winning a start is ridiculous.

  • SoonerGoneEast says:

First access in forever and you would think the questions would be more thoughtful. Some are, but it looks like they’ve been saving up the stupid ones too.

  • SoonerGoneEast says:

You know Tramel is in there somewhere swinging his arm back and forth like Horseshack.

  • SoonerMGB56 says:

DJ Ward, Oklahoma boy. Showing that want to and drive.

    • ToatsMcGoats says:

Who said that it would be better? I’ve heard plenty of concerns that it’s a terrible choice of offense for the amount of great backs that we have. I don’t necessarily think that it’s going to be “better” for Perine, but I think his numbers will be affected more by Mixon’s PT than with the fact that we’re running the Air Raid. I still see him getting over 1,000 yds rushing.

Also, it could be argued that this offense will keep the defense from putting 10 guys in the box consistently and to think that this type of situation wouldn’t be better for Perine is “absurd” in my opinion.

  • Krys Allen says:

TK9 showed really well during his interview. Pretty obvious why Bob would want him there.

    • Jordan Esco says:

      exactly why they brought him

    • SoonerGoneEast says:

Yeah, class guy always seems to carry himself well.

    • ratman says:

He is great and consistently good behind the microphone. Unfortunately, he is not the same on the field!

      • boomersooner says:

Shocker you feel that way. Good to see you again Mr Troll

        • Glenn Quagmire says:

I agree with ratman, and I am not a troll.

          • boomersooner says:

Thanks for sharing. I really really do appreciate you letting me know. If someone comes here with nothing but negative crap oozing from him, no matter the subject, he deserves to be called out. I have no idea who you are so jury’s still out on your trollness

          • Glenn Quagmire says:

You make me want to be one

          • ND52 says:

Don’t worry @disqus_AzGeOl6ZdI:disqus—-@disqus_BeW3hegp9d:disqus only acts like he controls this board 😀

          • boomersooner says:

No interest in controlling anything. Just trying to take out some trash

          • Glenn Quagmire says:

Anyway back to his comment, it oozes with truth

          • boomersooner says:

It’s cute how you clowns like each others posts. I have zero interest in controlling anything. I have zero interest in listening to a bunch of crybabies whine about this and that and put down this and that all day every day

          • Glenn Quagmire says:

Good. Then stop bitching and get back on topic.

          • boomersooner says:

Wow. I remember my 1st insult

      • Docknoss says:

Boykin was really bad until TCU implented the Spread. Goes to show you, that you never know.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

        Ouch. But it’s a new year, he’s a junior. Let’s see.

      • jonnyBgood says:

I would say he has not been “thus far” opposed to “is not.” He is still young and many-a-QB has gone from eehhhh to oooohhh in one offseason. I hate to reference the Bama game again but the kid played so well on that huge stage I still hold out hope he can recapture some of that magic he displayed that night in NOLA. Accuracy and decision making are two skill sets that can be improved through both hard work and film study. I firmly believe he will not be lacking in either of those categories so hopefully that translates to improved play if he is chosen as the starter.

PS: Leave the petty bickering back at those other sites. This site has become my favorite for many reasons with a lack of personal attacks being at the forefront. Just my 2cents…BOOMER

    • MattandAnnie Stuemky says:

I’m rooting for TK9 to be a GA somewhere (at OU would be nice) when he’s done. Great presence and head on his shoulders. Normally, good players who aren’t exactly great can become very good assets in the coaching ranks.

    • hOUligan says:

So far the best thing Riley has done…came in late last year and got commits from Green and Miller, who somehow, Norvell had deemed unworthy. Guess we will see but early camp news says they can be ‘players’.

  • rphokc says:

Stoops: “A lot gives me optimism, a 17-year background. We’re just a year removed from being in the top 10 and winning the Sugar Bowl.”

    • hOUligan says:

I smell what he’s cooking but enough Sugar Bowl talk. While ‘close’ in some games last season, we are a lot closer to being curb stomped by Clemson than to the SB win.

      • Finney56 says:

I agree with you. I love my crimson colored glasses and almost always have them on, but at the same time, I’m tired of hearing about the Sugar Bowl.. College Football is all about what have you done for me lately, and well, that’s not much for Stoops and Co.

If it weren’t for Alex Ross and his kick returns, we would have been closer to 6-6 (WVU & saxeT) than we have liked. However, we could have been 10-3 had Hunnicutt not shanked a few field goals (K-State & TCU).

Now enough what ifs and to 2015. We return an amazing backfield in Samaje Perine and Alex Ross with the addition of Joe Mixon. We return almost, if not all, of our receiving core in (a healthy) Sterling Shepard, Quick, Neal and even add what sounds like some special pieces in Andrews, Meier, Mead, Westbrook, etc.

I believe that the offense under LR will flourish and score points, so if the defense improves even a little bit, the Palace on the Prairie should be a great place to be come Fall of 2015.

        Love you all,

        Finz out

    • Zack says:

I would have less of an issue if he just said after my 3 worst records we’ve turned around and won the big 12.

  • Finney56 says:

I just wanted to tell everyone that I love you all. God is great, beer is good, and Texas still sucks! #Boomer

  • Exiled In Ohio says:

Jordan, thanks again for all the work to make this easy for us!

  • KJ1123 says:

Is Media day over? For OU?

  • Hotrod33 says:

Jordan or any of the TFB staff, did they talk about any rules changes and/or any replay changes for the coming year? If they did, I missed it and could you do a recap or something on that. Thanks.

  • WALKINTHEDOG says:

I’ve been a long time visitor to this and other forums, but I seldom post. LOVE MY SOONERS, and really thought this was definitely the most solid fan forum of them all, but it just seems that lately, it’s becoming, what I hated about the most about the other sites. Just a lot of disrespect for others thoughts and constant bickering. I’ll keep reading, just my thoughts….. BOOMER

    • Perry Dickey says:

I was reading just today and thought the very same thing. Seems the people that ‘know stuff’ will gunk up the page with arguing who knows more ‘stuff’.
It was refreshing in the beginning when my heart lept at a place where the folks who set it up and DO know stuff were free to tell us about it without endless pissing matches attached.

      • boomersooner says:

Sorry to you 2 fellas if I’ve added to your changing view of this place. I just cannot stand it when people feel the need to be persistently negative with every single post. Whether it’s bash a player or coach or the state or the university or what have you, they just never have anything good to say about anything and ignoring them has never worked for me. So again sorry if I’ve added to it

        • soonermusic says:

A lot of times, imho, it’s just simply to be engaged. Doesn’t matter the content. If someone wants to have lengthy and argumentative interaction, he’s far less likely to get it with a perceptive, reasoned post, than with a trollish comment. Engaging in “flame wars” as they used to be called is as entertaining for some folks as it is a drag for the rest. For the most part, no matter how good one’s response is, it ends up being gasoline on the fire.

          • boomersooner says:

Oh I love being a thorn in some of these “trolls” side, I just didn’t know if it was read and unenjoyed by regular folk

  • soonermusic says:

Jordan, thanks for your coverage of this. I didn’t see it live, but it’s nice to be able to review it afterwards. Concur with your comment that you tend to be cautious and considered with the ban hammer.
