The fact that Ahmad Thomas made the list and not Steven Parker is just mind blowing. I’m a fan of Ahmad by the way he had a great season but Parker is a real difference maker and had the play of the year for the big 12. Did those who voted/decided these teams just forget he existed?
Wheres’ that mind blown GIF? That came to mind. Unreal!
Parker solidified our secondary at his true position when Johnson took over NB. Our secondary was totally different with Parker running the SS position. That is a huge bummer for Parker and the fans.
Exactly, his ability to cover ground saved OU on several occasions. Too bad he lost a couple turnovers, including one for TD vs Tennessee or his stats wouldve looked better
More disrespect: I like it.

Only way they could justify it is if they said he ran Nickel for the first half of the season. It’s mind blowing. He not only is one of the best, but we literally wouldn’t be in the playoff without him making the 2 pt conversion play.
Swap out A. Thomas for S. Parker
I scanned the defense lists like 5 times, sure that Steven Parker had to be there if Thomas was there. Parker is up there with Walker and Striker in my mind. Speaking of which, why is Walker second team and Tapper first team?
Tapper had a good second half of the season but name recognition probably came into play as well.
You’re right. That was more of a complaint than a genuine question.
Boomer! Great to see the Sooners so well represented. Have to agree that Parker being neglected is criminal.
Did they vote on these before the season? Or maybe they just didn’t watch the same games.
Nice to see solid representation again by the good guys!
yes, it’s nice seeing us field difference makers again….and at just about every position
I understand this is the Big 12 awards but how does Shepard not get on the biletnikoff list? that’s crazy to me. he means so much to this team and he ALWAYS steps up in the biggest games. best WR in the country if you ask me.
I think it’s because they didn’t want all three finalists to be from the Big 12.
we’re a league deep with talent at WR that’s for sure but still no reason to leave him off IMO
As hard as it is to believe, Doctson and Coleman have had a lot more production than Shepherd did this year. They’re off the charts.
Yes both had more productive seasons in terms of stats, but I only believe Doctson should have gotten the nod instead of Sterling. Coleman failed to show up in their biggest games and has an attitude problem. I understand why Coleman was though, made an early impression.
Plus you can claim that Coleman’s stats falling was caused by the QB injuries
I think everyone is on top of the Parker omission(total crap) so I will ask this question instead. Will the fact that everybody else in the Big 12 thinking Mark Andrews is a 2nd Team All Conference player actual convince OU coaches to get him on the field more? This is not a complaint by any means the guy is just a total mismatch everywhere. I love our offense though and think they will figure out how to use him more and more!
No, why would our coaches be influenced by some list? Andrews will be the starter next season though.
Riley has done a good job so far, and it’s not like Andrews hasn’t played. He just isn’t open when Mayfield is looking in his direction????
I hope they are more influenced by whether he can catch the ball when it counts.
I bet he gets a chance in the Orange Bowl. If he can hold on to a few early he could become OUr secret weapon. Pay attention to SS while this moose beats you down the seam for a 50 yard gain.
That PFF list in the Daily News post is way better than this one.
No Steven Parker?!?!?
No! Just when I thought they (rightfully) left off Oakman, they sneak him onto the Second Team. But whatever. At least Tapper got the nod before him.
Hey, Jokeman. Zeus Brown and J. Alvarez can’t even buy their own beer. And yet, they spread you over the turf like warm butter. You suck with the suckiest of the suckery. You big ninny.
Tell him what ya’ really think R/R.
Jokeman: You ugly. Neener-neener. 🙂
That’s more like it!
Don’t say that! You know football fans don’t want their players being called ugly…or that they look like Predator.
Mama fans were really, really upset over that, SMH.
I saw the Bammers losing their minds over that comment. I hope he and Striker meet at the coin toss. Striker would embarrass him on national television, not only in on-field play, but also in a battle of wits
I’m going to go ahead and say that was a sympathy vote. He’s at VERY most honorable mention.
Dishonorable is more like it.
Have fun in the WWE.
Yeah, or the LFL.
I Cant wait to watch in the National Flag Football League.
I can’t wait to see where he get’s drafted (unless it’s to my Broncos). It’ll be fun watching him bust at the next level.
By the time 10 is done in Norman he will be 1st team AA so this snub will be long forgotten.
It really is hard to believe they left him off but we all know what kind of player SP is. This has been a special, special year and I hope and pray it ends up being legendary! Boomer!
I strongly suspect that next year’s O-line will not be all seniors – perhaps two sophs come in there.
Will be Soph/Jr. Set for the next 2 years if no early outs.
No offense to RB Warren, but Samia should have at least been co-newcomer of the year. What he’s done on OL as a true freshman is outstanding.
Great to see so many Sooners receiving recognition for this season.
It sure is. Hard work and success bring rewards and it feels great to see our team so well represented along with Coach Stoops being honored. I’m hoping our other guys who competed so hard and just missed out (Mixon, for one example) aren’t too disappointed and know their true value. Of course, I want one of OUr players to fill every spot if I had my way. Which I don’t.
Blake Jarwin as 1st Team All Big 12 TE. Please tell me that I am not the only one disgusted by that
who else would it be? He had more production out of anyone. Mark Andrews was good but just not utilized enough.
Blake Jarwin CAREER Stats: 19 receptions, 297 yards, 3 TDs
Mark Andrews SEASON Stats: 17 receptions, 286 yards, 6 TDs
I don’t think Mark Andrews even deserves it though. I’d rather have TE/FB be combined into one spot and add another RB/WR spot.
Damn you and your facts, Sir. /s But maybe, as Andrews played slot behind Shep so much, they didn’t/don’t ‘see him’ as a ‘true’ TE.
lol. you can say career but jarwin barely even recorded anything last year. This year, his season stats werent as good as Andrews, but Andrews had far too many drops IMO, and Jarwin was more used in the run game as well. Andrews lined up more as an extra WR
Jarwin didn’t even grade out as the best TE on your team… Zac Veatch did:
https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/12/08/college-2015-all-big-12-team-best-players-at-every-position/
haha Veatch is horrible though but that is interesting
someone had to say it!!! i ran out of rant juice
I don’t really know anything about Jarwin but could it be because he blocks? The TE is, after all, a blocker. Andrews is lucky to get a mention at all at TE considering he is a WR on the depth chart.
I believe Andrews is listed as a slot receiver, not a TE. In most formations, he is Shep’s backup.
I’m not upset that Andrews isn’t on so much as there are much better players than Blake Jarwin that didn’t make the list. As I mentioned below, I’d rather have TE/FB as a combined spot and add Mike Warren and Aaron Green

But who are the better tight ends? The position is virtually dead in the Big 12.
Listen, I know you’re a poke fan, but look at it this way. Blake Jarwin making the 1st team waters down the significance of guys like Brandon Pettigrew achieving the same thing. There’s no reason to include TEs when most teams in the conference don’t consistently use TEs and 1000 yard rushers aren’t making the 2nd team.
Yeah, I get your point. I mean, someone has to win though. There wasn’t really anyone else to look at in the Big 12 though, like it or not.
Steven Parker honorable mention? Do they even watch football?
Ultimate test of conference supremecy….Take the all conference teams and make them go through a 5 team playoff. Seeds determined by # of teams in top 25. Seed 4 and 5 play in round 1 and everyone else gets a bye week. Coach would be conference coach of the year. Settle in on the field, best vs. best.
I don’t want OUr guys anywhere close to Baylor’s players. The poor sportsmanship and arrogance might rub off.

Happy for these guys because it means something to them and says something about them but all I care about is Dec 31st. BOOMER SOONER!!!
SOONER!!! And this ‘team’ is wired that way, too. Get a championship that all can share, right down to Miss Tiff, Schmidtty and the student trainers.
Love Dede, but how is Mixon not the Offensive Newcomer? They should have let them share, IMO.
Probably had to do with the fact that Dede started all 12 games. Mixon wasn’t really a starter at all.
Good point 22dupree. Mixon was much more valuable than Dede IMO. I think Zack nailed it though.
Yep; Zack’s on the money.

That one usually goes to a non-freshman. They’ll occasionally make an exception if a frosh has a ridiculous season (i.e. AD in ’04 ) but it usually goes to a JUCO or transfer guy. The award that Mixon would’ve been closer to winning was Frosh of the Year, & objectively, Warren was pretty deserving there.
What do the symbols beside the players’ names mean?
# – Unanimous selection
@ – 2015 first team selection
& – 2015 second team selection
~ – 2014 first team selection
^ – 2014 second team selection
huh? Do you mean 2014 and 2013. Because by that logic, everyone on the first team should have an @ and everyone on the second team should have an &
I just copied it from the Big 12 website, but I would assume that’s what they meant
I think the years reflect the end of the season they were selected. A little confusing but it seems the only logical explanation.

Should be “preseason 2015” on those two symbols.
this is a joke! ahmad thomas has improved but in no way is 2nd team all big 12 especially in front of parker…not hating on our boys but imo it shows a lack of quality backers in the big 12 when alexander is 1st team…maybe im just old school as i know he makes a ton of tackles and is where he needs to be but seldom does he drop folks where he hits them usually 2-3 yac on his tackles…happy for tap (and all our guys) but walker is more dominant imo as well…motivation for next year i suppose
I am more impressed with Jordan Evans than I am with Alexander.
he def has more upside i think…if this off season is like the last he will be a force to be reckoned with next year

If memory serves Alexander played more than Evans. I think it was just quantity.
Don’t think so. They are both starters. Evans is more physical and makes more highlight plays.
Evans missed at least one game, if not two, due to injury.

Kind of surprised that Mixon didn’t get honorable mention. Oh well.
The only thing I dislike about the list is Billings over Tapper for DL of the year. Otherwise, you can make arguments for guys but you can’t just say the All-Big 12 team is the Oklahoma Sooners. Mixon should be on the list also but where do you put him? He doesn’t get the volume the other RBs get and there isn’t a spot for an “athlete”. I thought OU listed Andrews as a WR but he made all conference as a TE? Hats off to the work ethic of the O line and their coaches. Two first team all conference after those growing pains is a great accomplishment.
Love seeing Sooners on the list, but Ty and Nila may have been our weakest links on the OL, yet they are 1st Team.
Looking at some of the other choices, it looks like they gave preferred treatment to Srs.
Mixon didn’t make offensive newcomer of the year, 1st team OR 2nd team. That’s a travesty!
Agreed. I thought he did much more than Westbrook.
Nila – really turned it on against Billings. Totally deserving. Also, No love for Parker? But Ahmad Thomas instead?
Parker needed to be on the list at worst on 2nd team.
