You may or may not remember this from last year, but you all are pretty smart so I doubt you’ll have much trouble grasping the concept.
I’ll throw out some suggestions in terms of predictions for the weekend, as always feel free to ignore them, then you all can have at it in the comments with your best guess to those and/or offer up some predictions of your own.

I’ll play! My own – Mayfield and Mixon are so pumped to play that both make a mistake, but both excel. 2nd half is full of 2s 3s and the bench. 2 FGs & 1 turn over by OU.

Didn’t see anything close to a top 25 team last night. They all looked sloppy. I think maybe we’ve been sprinkled with crimson pixie dust, or were so hard up after last season grabbed it from the damn fairy and snorted it.

I see us working on things that can help us beat Tennessee. I’m not saying they look past the Zips, but any similarities between the two we try to exploit on offense and defense. They supposedly have a stout front 7. Tennessee should be solid there as well. Kind of means we’ll probably need to work on spreading the field and passing to set up the run. I think Baker gets a ton of work throwing dink and dunks and letting the play makers make it do what it do. Defense applies pressure and focus on communication. Being in the right spot and fundamental technique and tackling. Playing with a swagger. Closer than we want it to be, but in the end it’s all about the Jimmy’s and Joes, 42-21 OU which is fine as long as it prepares us for the next one.

these are the answers that makes the most sense to me .. #8 in particular made me think .. I think the score is low tho more like 66-12 maybe.

You pretty much picked everything the same as me. I don’t think Mixon will be entirely under wraps, but I do think that Perine will get the most reps and be more likely to gain more total yardage.

I’m not expecting big numbers out of anyone. There’s so much youth, I’m guessing the ball will get spread around a lot. We need to find out who can translate practice to play, if we have any gamers, etc.

1) Samaje Perine, I think with an inexperienced line, his ability to shed off tacklers will lead to more yards, but I think both will have a good day.
2) Over, Just because from what I have read, Akron has a very questionable secondary and I think OU may have more weapons than people expect them to have.

4) False. I think they will have one for sure but I think the second guy, probably Mixon, will have just under Perine…in the 80-90 yards range.
5) No, I think the kid is special but by all accounts the front seven of Akron is a beast, so I would think LR would attack elsewhere. If JH was still OC…..I had to say it.

Really interested in seeing Samia. Hope he kills it. Can’t remember a true freshman starting on the OL besides Don Key. That’s a long time ago.

It looks like the Akron Offense uses a 4 WR and a Single RB formation quite a bit. The Coaches may be anticipating starting the game in the Dime Defense which would bring PJ on the Field as the 3rd corner along with Thomas, Sanchez, and Parker at Nickel
Maybe I’m insane. I don’t see Samia replacing Alvarez or Nila on the line tomorrow. Unless Nila or Alvarez are nicked up.

It’s Terry Bowden. He’s a doofus. You put waaaayyyyyy too much stock in him. Remember, he only succeeded at Auburn with the players Pat Dye bought. Once he loaded up on his own players it went downhill and he was fired fast! There’s a reason he’s at Akron and N Alabama before that…he ain’t a hot commodity for the big jobs

I think ARoss will score on a kick off return. The defense seems pass rush-oriented on paper so I’d say five or six sacks no matter which string is in. Mixon will excite but samaje is still the tank and will have more yards. I think baker will try to be just a game manager cuz that’s all we’ve heard coach stoops and coach Riley talk about. The good guys will win somewhere in the neighborhood of 42-13ish. Boomer!
I’m predicting only one kickoff for the Zips, so he better make it count.

I have enjoyed reading all of the predictions, and I enjoyed Jordan’s thought provioker. My thoughts tend to put everyone’s answers together, I didn’t average any numbers together, just my thoughts reading through the answers.
As a group we think Mixon wil be a star. He will be a great all purpose back, rushing, receiving and special teams. Baker will be a good college QB with a high risk, high reward persona going forward. He’s going to set some teams on fire and he’s going to throw an occasional pick. We are excited about the new receiving crew, who will step up and ease the blow when Sterling moves on to playing Sundays. Mark Andrew will be our Red Zone go to, as long as his medical condition is monitored and cared for, he will be a beast. Our special teams will be improved. Finally, my thoughts on the upset. I don’t want TCU or Baylor to be defeated by anyone until November. I want both of them playing very well, both rolling all comers convincingly, both ranked in the top 5 up until they play us, both going down in flames to a much improved, chip on the shoulder, hungry, tough, hard hitting team wearing the beloved Crimson and Cream.
