It would appear as though logic did prevail as there are now multiple reports that OU 2015 signee Dalton Wood will now report to campus and the football program.

  • Dustin says:

Great news. Not only for OU, but for Dalton and his family. A college education will greatly benefit his future.

  • John Garner says:

This news, on top of Austin Robert’s commitment. makes this a doubly good day. Thanx!

  • EasTex says:

    Excellent news!
I wish the absolute best in life for the young man and the opportunity to attend and play at OU can offer a path few of us can dream of.

  • Brent says:

Seibert must have called him and let him know he can have the top bunk if he comes to OU.

  • Sooner Ray says:

When momma says git yo butt to school, you git yo butt to school. 🙂 Welcome aboard Mr. Wood.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

    Momma brought the Wood.

  • ccmosaic says:

I am really glad the kid made this choice. I hope it works out for him in football but if not having a full ride to a University is not a bad way to start providing for your family.

  • Daryl says:

If truly applies himself this kid can play. So hope he brings that energy effort to the team that could make him a star.

  • Reuben63 says:

    what was the hold up?

  • james babcock says:

It is a good day for sooner nation with both woods, and Roberts coming to norman.

  • John Garner says:

Looks some people get the news here then run over to OUInsider with it. Such is life on the internet.

  • soonerinks says:

One of the better life decisions he will ever make

    • Sooner Ray says:

I was wondering if someone was going to post that. LOL. Pretty intimidating.

      • EasTex says:

Little wonder he never fumbles. What happens if he pops a football in mid carry?

        • Sooner Ray says:

Would that qualify as deflate gate?

          • EasTex says:

            DUDE!
Check out American Pickers on History. They are in La. and later in the show they will be visiting my favorite old diner in Shreveport, Herby K’s.
Been going to that place since the mid 60’s.

          • Sooner Ray says:

            I’m on it.

          • EasTex says:

I saw what Frank ordered, their signature dish the Shrimp Buster. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t think of that gastronomic delight.

          • Sooner Ray says:

I would have been all over the shrimp, the oysters…..no thanks.

          • EasTex says:

Me either, the only oysters that pass my lips are the one’s I honk up and spit out.

          • EasTex says:

It would take the air out of deflate-gate.

        • Roger Nixon says:

The ball is afraid to come out.

    • Indy_sooner says:

      Good lawd.

    • Slim Sooner says:

Wow. Glad he’s on OUr side! Optimus.

    • ColoradoSooner says:

      Holy crap.

    • Bob Edwards says:

For some reason this reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSPNQ82Sq4E

    • Stephen says:

The dude is the embodiment of a rhino running down hill which may give way to a new nickname. Also, Mixon looks substantially bigger.

      • Bob Edwards says:

There were several time last year where you saw a player try to tackle him early in the game and, from then on, look like he wasn’t sure he wanted to play football anymore. It was starting to become a business decision and they weren’t sure any amount of scholarship was worth it.

        • Stephen says:

Not sure if I’d rather get hit by a truck or by Perine. That poor Tennessee secondary of “true freshmen” got a very rude awakening.

          • Bob Edwards says:

Yeah, Tennessee is one I remember. There was a kid that looked like he was just throwing himself under Perine’s feet hoping that he would either trip over his corpse or slip on the pool of blood that he left.

          • EasTex says:

That DB used that “ole” technique after getting plowed a play or two earlier.
By the end of the WVU game you could tell their D was hoping to last long enough for their after game dates.

          • EasTex says:

The only thing I worry about with SP is his ankles. By the end of the season that is the part of his body that was taking most hits by defenders.

          • Stephen says:

True, but he does a pretty good job getting low when taking hits. Not sure I’ve seen a big guy that flexible. Wish he’d share his secret with Ross, he’s a pretty rigid runner which worries me some.

            Bite yer tongue!!

    • OohRah Mama says:

Someone on that page said “Dear Lord, he’s going to fold people.” Looks like he could fold space & time as well.

  • Jeff says:

OT, but is anyone else worried about Mixon??

  • ToatsMcGoats says:

OT, but is anyone else worried about ___________ (insert generalized topic here)??

  • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Man alive you get good news and the haters try and suck the air out of the room. I’m just sayin it’s great to be a SOONER!!!! One thing about it you can’t keep OU down forever!!!
    BOOMER!!!!

  • EasTex says:

In the event no one noticed, the final women’s softball game of the season was played tonight.

    • Sooner Ray says:

I’ve done that and I’m not large or female. I do suspect someone spiked the Gatorade though.

      • EasTex says:

The only face plant I did was at an all day pool party with the guys from my office, complete with a roasted pig and all kinds of alcohol.
I was swigging on 100proof Vodka, knees gave out and as I went face first down the steps I reached out with the hand still holding the vodka bottle to break my fall.
I had hundreds of little cuts all over my chest and stomach, but none that required stitches. The only stitches needed were for my co-workers after laughing so hard at the 230lb blob doing a header down the steps.

        • Sooner Ray says:

          LOL!

          • EasTex says:

It was even funnier the next day. I woke up, tried to pull the sheet back and it was stuck to me with hundreds of little weeping glass cuts. I just dragged the sheet into the shower with me and it came right off.

          • brainpimp says:

            A story by a MAN!

          • EasTex says:

            HA!
A story of a young man told by an old man…who quit drinking at the age of 25. It was time.

          • Boom says:

A mans got to know his limitations. I had liquor 4 times when I was 17 – hasn’t touched my lips since. I have some beer but I know my limitation.

          • SamSooner says:

I’m usually good for about a half a bottle of beer. Rarely will I drink a whole one.

          • EasTex says:

I was 6000 miles from home, surrounded by raven haired beauties and was serving as a military policeman in a city with the crime rate of Chicago on a per capita basis. Had to cut loose every now and then.
Once I got back to the world I just quit.

          • Boom says:

Oh, nothing meant wrong, I was 25 too and had my fair share. I enjoy some beer but again it’s the clint eastwood method of drinking. Man gotta know his limitations.
Interesting about Chicago. They have all of these gun laws and they have more killings than Houston by far and we don’t have the same or even close to these gun laws here.

          • EasTex says:

It’s been said, we live two lives…the one we learn with and the one we live with.
Living in a foreign country so far from home and being in the military, the consumption of alcohol in large quantities is encouraged. I doubt I had drank a six pack of beer total in five years before I went there and haven’t drank even that much in the last 35 years. Just means nothing to me, though I will buy some beer and wine for cooking.
As for gun laws in Texas, open carry and campus carry for CHL holders have both passed the legislature and Gov. Abbott will sign them into law, effective 1 Sep 2015 I believe.

          • Boom says:

Makes sense and I’ve heard that from some other guys I know. No worries. Did your little get away (lake) take a hit with all the rain.

          • EasTex says:

Haven’t been down there lately, but soon. I’ve been watching Texas lake levels for the past month and Caddo is a few feet high, but nothing like it was a few years ago. My lot is on a hill and many of the people that live there permanently used the lot to park their vehicles.

          • Boom says:

Texoma took a whippin – about 30 feet above flood stage. Spillway is 646 feet high and water was pouring over it for several days. Sad really. I grew up on Eufaula and it was the 2nd highest it’s ever been and it’s a huge lake, much bigger than Texoma.

          • EasTex says:

Lots of folks have been badly effected, including right there in H-town.
We haven’t heard from JJ in a while, not since her town was being flooded and sure hope she and her family are okay.

          • blaster1371 says:

My cousin posted a video of Turner Falls a few weeks back. I have never seen it like that. Sounded like a freight train and water was shooting out from the top before it began to fall into the pool below. I was not aware of the Texoma dam being that high.

          • EasTex says:

The Texoma dam overflowed for the 4th time in its history.

          • Jed says:

That was my real world for 25 years.
I “got off the boat”. It was a pretty good life.

      • JD says:

I’ve done it but I don’t remember any of the times

    • JD says:

That’s how you eat chalk dust right there!

      • EasTex says:

        Hey there, budski.

        • JD says:

Hey man…got some grass cut…grounds still wet though…: not bad…could have waited another day but got the itch

          • EasTex says:

Figured you’ve been putting in work. Cutting it now and with the ground still saturated you will be getting in another cut real soon.

          • JD says:

That’s the plan since I missed out on most of the spring grass with the rye starting to lay over..it’ll be non stop now till fall camp…:) so it’ll be no time for me

          • EasTex says:

Well, the ponies need it and like I always say, the alternative to being busy isn’t very pleasant either.

          • JD says:

yeah the alternative takes Forever…it’s nice to have work and hobbies

      • blaster1371 says:

The chalk was the chaser to the case of Oreos ingested as a pre-at bat meal. I remember watching my dad and his friends play softball when I was a kid and there was a dude with the same profile but about 6’5″”. He would hit the ball so far he could power walk a triple. Which was his strategy to,avoid running and thus the embarrassment that was so ungracefully demonstrated for all webdom.

    • blaster1371 says:

That right there is a physics lesson on inertia.

    • rphokc says:

well, as the leftists say, lean forward………

The unstoppable force(tubby)… meets the immovable object(earth)…

  • Sunshine says:

Gotta question the longterm success of this dude if he’s gotta be convinced/harangued by his Mom to show up on campus. What’s the news on the other guys who haven’t showed up yet?

  • EasTex says:

Hambone694 is cranking out the tribute videos.

  • SoonerBredCD says:

There’s a poster who on 247 who claims to have inside knowledge of the Dalton situation and he’s claiming that Dalton is AWOL again. WTH?

    • Jeremy Phillips says:

James Hale just reported on the Tulsa Animal that he packed up & went home again last night..

  • OceanDescender says:

Excited for OU to get another “jack of all trades” player! Might have a two-way player here for the first time since the time the coaches “almost” put Reggie smith at receiver haha.
