OU vs. Clemson | Russell Athletic Bowl | Game Thread

Whatever your feelings on this 2014 season, the fact remains this will be the last chance we have to watch our Sooners for quite some time.

So our humble suggestion to you would be to do whatever is necessary for you to enjoy it.

Time for the boys to go to work.

BOOMER!!!

  • Zack says:

    First

  • Stephen says:

Well, while we wait we can all enjoy watching a Texas A&M throw a shoulder and a punch at WV players that ran into the TAMU sideline.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

It seems the B12 did in fact trade up with WVU. In class at least anyway

    • Josh says:

I saw that and can’t believe they missed that in the booth!

      • Stephen says:

They missed it twice. Players supported the coach’s action. Hope Kyler Murray sees this and decides he doesn’t want to associate himself with such a pathetic group.

        • Josh says:

I didn’t even see the one where he hits the kid in the back of the head, I’m going back and forth from the game to Breaking Bad marathon! Dude needs to be fired right now!

          • Stephen says:

He wasn’t allowed back on the field after halftime. Doubt he returns to the field with the Aggies and rightfully so.

      • paganpink says:

It’s pretty poorly officiated. That was an obvious targeting call when A and M hit helmet to helmet on Howard, and the roughing the kicker call was nonsense and should have been five yards not fifteen. A&M is dirty and even their coaches are throwing forearms into players. That’s so chicken$hit it’s unbelievable! Go big 12. Both teams are kind of a mess as far as play goes and the penalties are all but out of control. There will be blood in the second half! And there’s no way they will be done in time for our game…

  • Zack says:

    One hour until happy hour

  • Sooner Ray says:

Gotta throw some hay in the pasture, fill a water tank and feed some horses. The timing should be perfect for kickoff!

  • Phil Counts says:

Wow tam coach should be suspended , what a classless act.

  • Josh says:

That is Michael Richardson who is throwing punches and elbows for atm. Former LB that had spinal surgery in 2012.

  • Ash Jones says:

Fire up your loud, another round of shots, OU victory is assured. Go Sooners!

  • John Garner says:

    Wow! WVU is tackling badly.

  • Ash Jones says:

Aggies are opening up holes bigger than John Holmes.

  • Ash Jones says:

If WVU had a QB I think this game would have been over by half.

  • Jordan Esco says:

Adam Shead not dressed out, will not play tonight.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    WVU giving up.

  • mizzOUstu702 says:

How was that Allen throwaway not intentional grounding…? He was inside the tackle box (he just went backwards) and the nearest receiver was 25 yards away.

  • Ed Cotter says:

    .Let’s go SOONERS!!!

  • Stephen says:

What are the odds that our first offensive play is a pass?

  • Sooner Ray says:

Well if no one else is gonna say it……BOOOOOMER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ed Cotter says:

Okay, how creepy is it that the last three games vs. Clemson marked the last seasons at the helm for Bud, Chuck Fairbanks and Barry. Wow. Just saw that on the OU pregame show.

  • soonermusic says:

if you can cue up the Sooner broadcast on your computer, you’d better do it, otherwise you’ll be listening to Ed Cunninham. anyone remember his last OU broadcast? He’s truly beyond belief…

Not just OU either. I caught a game earlier this year, not knowing it was him. He made about five comments in a row along the lines of, “they have to pass on this play,” “they will kick for sure” etc. He missed badly on each one. Unbelievable.

  • soonermusic says:

Go Sooners! Have a great game everyone!

  • soonermusic says:

The good news…free High Def trial today. The bad news…plumbing backing up into the laundry room…:-(

  • Ash Jones says:

    Clemson fans traveled well.

  • Austin says:

Bob’s fired up pretty good.. Hope that carries over to the players! BOOMER!

  • James D-Space says:

    BOOMER!!

  • Stephen says:

    Let’s go!!!!!

  • CrimsonGhost says:

That throw was horrible. Hope it is the last like it.

  • Ed Cotter says:

Wow, four defenders in the area. SMH

  • Stephen says:

Trevor back to being Trevor….had a man deep but let’s throw it to the onlonly guy he trusts who is surrounded by 4 or 5 defenders.

  • Jason Scism says:

Knight Sucks.. I love the kid to death but he really is terrible at seeing the field. Hasn’t progressed one bit

  • Sooner Ray says:

    They ran our play.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    Waaaah

  • Ed Cotter says:

    Gonna be a looooooong game!

  • Jeff says:

MS needs to be FIRED after the game!

  • CrimsonGhost says:

Welp, not exactly the fast start I was looking for.

  • Sooner Ray says:

I guess we need to fix the defense?

  • Stephen says:

Next series: run to middle, run to middle, try to pass to Sterling or die trying.

  • Phil Counts says:

Make Stout look like a heisman candidate

  • Jason Scism says:

Seriously if Mike can’t do better than this crap again then he HAS TO GO!

  • SoonerfanTU says:

Sheesh. TK throws into quadruple coverage (can’t blame JH on that one), and Striker looks to be giving about 50% effort on that missed tackle.

    smh

  • James D-Space says:

    Nice start SOONERS!
    #pathetic

  • ND52 says:

Is it too late to offer Harbaugh?

  • Zack says:

Wow. It looked promising with two guys in the neighborhood to make a tackle.

  • lebval15 says:

Every QB has a career day against us.

  • Won says:

TK misses Quick and forces to Shep
    BOOM!

  • Jerry reid says:

Remember this is how we started for Bama last year also

  • Jason Scism says:

I don’t care what anyone say’s but tackling IS COACHING!

  • OUknowwhatitis says:

ive said all year Knight Zeroes in on one receiver and then actually throws it to the guy ..

  • Jeff says:

They were out of position AGAIN!

  • Won says:

    Wassup Bobby?

  • Sooner Ray says:

Why won’t they kick it to the fastest guy on the field?

  • kt-raida says:

it’s a long game we got this!

  • lebval15 says:

118th ranked pass D. Yeah buddy

  • Lesslie Stanford says:

Venables guys are ready to go!

  • Sooner Ray says:

Sad thing is, they’re running our old defense.

  • Sureyoubet says:

we are so far from being a top 25 team it is not even funny anymore.

  • JY says:

    Damn ridiculous

  • James says:

May be the best thing that can happen if we are to get the coaching changes we all want.

  • Won says:

Here comes another record setting performance… and OU won’t be on the good side

  • lebval15 says:

    BV’s been waiting for this.

  • ccmosaic says:

Boys already look like they are going OT get beat bad. Sorry but the coaching staff no matter what anyone says sucks.

  • Stephen says:

    10 yard cushion again….

  • CrimsonGhost says:

No push by the D-line, at all.

  • Lesslie Stanford says:

Clemson is doing the same things everyone else has all year long. Short passes against out DBS that are playing way off the LOS.

  • DCinAZ says:

Making Stoudt look like a Heisman QB already.

  • Kyle says:

Well the earlier post that said they don’t want to be there appears to be true. Really poor showing so far. Embarrassing tackling.

  • DCinAZ says:

Rushing three again with big cushion.

  • Defend Colfax says:

    Shots?

  • SoonerfanTU says:

Striker looks like a dude that simply doesn’t want to be there. Unreal. Make a tackle.

  • ccmosaic says:

Boys I believe we will loose this game by at least 21 maybe even worse. Clemson wants this game and Oklahoma is already an embarrassment. Looking forward to see how many coaches will get fired after this joke of a game. Not sure how much of this I can watch.

    • FlatLander says:

My one source says that there won’t be any changes. All we will hear is that they have to work harder.

  • rphokc says:

…..hey, they got to shop at best buy

  • lebval15 says:

Boy am I glad I didn’t go to this game. No matter how cheap the tickets were it wouldn’t have been worth it.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    Hey, we got him!

  • ccmosaic says:

    About damn time.

  • Sooner Ray says:

    Where has that been?

  • Lesslie Stanford says:

Oh my lord someone who wants to play today!

  • Defend Colfax says:

    Great play D. Lets Go!

  • Sooner Ray says:

    Can’t catch a break.

  • CrimsonGhost says:

    No disipline, whatsoever.

  • Ed Cotter says:

of course we have a penalty on a missed FG. WTF!

  • JY says:

    That’s just piss poor

    • RBear says:

no other way to put it really

    • Indy_sooner says:

Sad to see you break your stance against posting on game threads JY.

No words to describe the product on the field. I thought we couldn’t do worse than the Baylor and A&M humiliation. I was wrong

    • Swanny says:

Time for wholesale change JY. Monty, Gundy and Bedenbaugh are the only ones that should remain. If Stoops is unwilling to make the tough calls, he should be out too. If Castiglione won’t pull the trigger, he should be out. This is OU, NC’s in women’s gymnastics won’t save your job as an AD.

  • James D-Space says:

    Offsides! Dang it!

  • OUhound says:

Nothing like spotting a team 10 points with less than the first half of the first quarter gone.

  • ccmosaic says:

Big 12 looking good today. Dang we and this conference sucks.

  • Sooner Ray says:

If we just had a QB.

  • Dustin says:

Two things I’ll never understand how players can do: Lining up offsides and blocking in the back. Blows my mind.

  • James D-Space says:

So in other news….. I saved 50% in car insurance.

  • ruasoonerfan2 says:

    nothing changed

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Secondary and Zack what is this? We need a new head coach! Not.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Welp….I’ve seen enough. Petition for OU to pursue Celmson’s DC? Anyone?

  • RBear says:

If you’re wanting change, you should hope for a lot of sideline shots of Mike and booth shots of JH, both looking bewildered. It’s that kind of public “visual” that the brass won’t stomach well.

  • blaster1371 says:

Just ducked my head I to ESPn bar in Disneyland …… Same OU bull shizzle and that announcer Cunningham is about as big of an OU hater that yiu could find; that goes back to OU-k state in 2012.

  • OmorganU says:

This is on pace to be worse than the 05 NC game

  • Stephen says:

Unbroken is how Mike Stoops would describe our defense.

  • Ash Jones says:

Let’s go O and get this game going. Gotta fight harder.

  • Greg sparks says:

We need some of them sunshine pumpers to explain all this..

  • OUhound says:

Oh man, they just had to show that bad re-punt call.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Thanks for showing the Okie St game again, ESPN…Because I’d forgotten. -_-

  • Stephen says:

Espn is like, he look how bad they suck, recruits.

  • andy says:

The announcer before the game was saying if you are someone calling for stoops to be fired you’re crazy. ….. well I wonder how crazy those of us look now.

  • lebval15 says:

I didn’t know that boulware said not to rekick it and Bob overruled him. Nice call Bob.

  • ccmosaic says:

    A first down! Woot woot.

  • Jerry reid says:

    1st down!!

  • Defend Colfax says:

    Lets Go O!

  • OUhound says:

    Nice read by TK

  • kt-raida says:

Knight is at his best with an uptempo game.

  • Ed Cotter says:

About time for a time out.

  • Defend Colfax says:

    Lets go!

  • Dustin says:

This offense is so much better when TK is outside the pocket

  • Ed Cotter says:

WHoa, we have a Neal sighting!

  • CrimsonGhost says:

    Well, jeez!

  • ccmosaic says:

Not going to get any breaks on this game.

  • Defend Colfax says:

    FML…

  • OmorganU says:

    …..

  • Kyle says:

    Huddling like it’s 2007!

  • Sooner Ray says:

    Terrible decision!!!!!

  • leatherneck1061 says:

    Un…believable….

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    TK…

  • ccmosaic says:

Can Josh not call a more obvious play,

  • kt-raida says:

    Why..did…he…throw…that

  • SoonerfanTU says:

I’ll say it…..I don’t see much of any chance that Mayfield doesn’t start next year. Knight just doesn’t have it.

  • James D-Space says:

    Dang it Knight!

  • DCinAZ says:

Trevor Knight is fucking terrible. Period.

  • Rene Goupillaud says:

Well, more of the same. Bob says emotions don’t matter. Wrong. Trevor can’t see a defense. This is pathetic.

  • Zack says:

Knight has to be color blind. There is no excuse for throwing that ball. How did he not see the dude in Orange

  • blaster1371 says:

And knight does it again…… WTF???

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    This is a disgrace.

  • andy says:

This offense is so predictable they could pull people from the stands and they would still be looking like all stars against us

  • Jason Scism says:

Seriously? Throw the same screen 3 out of 4 plays and what do you expect to get

  • Indy_sooner says:

Against the #1 defense..why do you throw that??

  • Jon Nakata says:

    I cant watch this

  • James D-Space says:

    Unacceptable!

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Some people will look 1st at Trevor…..but if Bob doesn’t revisit the decision to promote Heupel to OC, we’re screwed next year too.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Are you saying we shouldn’t look at Trevor?

I’m not sure JH is the answer either. But I find it REALLY hard to throw him under the bus when our QB makes stupid, STUPID plays. Coupled with Ford missing several games, Shepard missing several games and not being 100% today, and so on and so forth, and I think he gets a pass. Certainly can’t blame him for this game. Every bad play so far is directly on TK.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

I did not say that. I distinctly said “1st”.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

It’s merely a matter of emphasis

      • Pokerman says:

Joe Montana couldn’t win a game with this bunch of WR’s. And it’s not TK’s fault when Perine gets stuffed as soon as he gets the handoff.

      • Indy_sooner says:

JH calls the plays. We should be zone reading this silly thing. We are very well aware of his limitations as a passer, I don’t know why JH expected that to magically change

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    More of that, please.

  • blaster1371 says:

What was the personal foul on that last OU possession?

  • Dustin says:

    Offsides? No? Ok.

  • Hotrod33 says:

I’m sick and tired of that stupid play. Get rid of that one. I does nothing but cause problems.

  • andy says:

    Finally something good

  • SoonerfanTU says:

D has been playing better. Just need the offense, or the QB, to get it going. Sadly, we already know our backup sucks worse, so it’s not like we can put him in and hope for a spark.

Never thought we’d have such below average QB play for two years in a row after so many years of pretty good play.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

    Hmmmm…..a sign of life?

  • James D-Space says:

A pick play on Sheppard I guess was the call. They said offensive hold on Shep.

  • kt-raida says:

It would be cool to try and get Rex Ryan as a defensive coordinator

    • Zack says:

It would be but he can make 1.5-2 mil as a dc in the NFL. And may be able to be a head coach still.

  • Dustin says:

Welp, time to cook dinner. Hopefully we’re winning when I come back. BOOMER!!!

  • lebval15 says:

Dear Baker Mayfield – I can’t wait to see you on the field. That is all.

  • blaster1371 says:

I’m out …. Back into Disneyland with the fam.

  • Stephen says:

Please just don’t throw into coverage…

  • OmorganU says:

The only bad thing about a blocked field goal is the offense has to come out.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    Bye TK

  • OUhound says:

    Wow

  • kt-raida says:

    Yep

  • Jerry reid says:

    Lol!!! I give up

  • James D-Space says:

    Knight! Get off the field!!!

  • Zack says:

It’s time to question the intensity of the bowl practices.

    • FlatLander says:

I think it is time to question the intensity of any practices this season!

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Why? D has settled down. O is moving the ball some, and has open receivers, we just don’t have a QB that can do anything right now. That has nothing to do with bowl practice intensity.

  • ccmosaic says:

I have no words to describe what we are seeing tonight.

  • Jason Scism says:

I just don’t see how you can keep Knight in the game? CT sucks too thought

  • Jake says:

    We are sooo not awesome.

  • OUhound says:

Score would be closer if we just ran Perine up the middle every play.

  • Sooner Ray says:

Ever heard of a one trick pony?

  • Jeff says:

The QB needs to be benched!!!

  • Ed Cotter says:

“Not a terrific throw”…….frickin understatement, announcer. What a big pile of crap this game is.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    We’ve become Texas.

  • SoonerfanTU says:

I’ve said it before…..replace TK with Landry Jones and we’re a one loss team this season. We have other warts, but TK absolutely kills this team. Most mistake prone OU QB since who…..Bomar?

  • SoonerOracle737 says:

    QB woes R Us.

  • Greg sparks says:

Never should have accepted a bowl game !!!!

  • lebval15 says:

I’d light a homeless man on fire right now if it would mean mayfield could play in this game.

  • Austin says:

My God put Blake Bell in.. Anyone at this point

  • CrimsonGhost says:

This is worse than the Cotton Bowl beating we got from A&M.

  • Jerry reid says:

    Bell to QB now!!

  • James D-Space says:

Remind me again how many QBs we recruited and have committed?!

  • DCinAZ says:

At this point I’m just laughing at us. What a loser shitshow or a program we’ve become.

  • Jeff says:

How many recruits will OU lose after the game 5-6?? Who honestly would want to play for this coaching staff???

  • OUknowwhatitis says:

now lets see if JH pulls Knight ..or does he leave him out there like he did Bell against texas last year as an inept ineffective QB ..Knight has not played in a month and a half and its showing

  • rphokc says:

    give ct some game pt………

  • OUhound says:

    One hop pass?

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

We need to run on first down. When will JH realize we are a running team.

  • Dlee914 says:

This team is a joke. Its embarrassing. Why a recruit would want to come here after watching this season unfold, I have no idea.

  • ruasoonerfan2 says:

    block

  • OUhound says:

9 guys in the box and ESPN Is commenting on how they are stuffing Perine.

  • lebval15 says:

So who do you think is winning the JH vs. BV chess match?

  • Jerry reid says:

He had some much time! Why could he not find a damn receiver!

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

2013 Cotton Bowl revisited. Just hoping we don’t lose commits after this fiasco.

    • Ed Cotter says:

I have to laugh so I don’t cry. This is actually getting more ridiculous by the minute. I feel sorry for the Sooner fans that actually paid to witness this mess.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    They didn’t come to play.

  • Robert Boone says:

Sad to day, but OU is not just being outplayed, but we are so damn stupid

  • RBear says:

oh how the mighty have fallen

  • Jason Scism says:

I thought I would like the 3-4 defense but it just sucks in every way

  • Big Higg says:

I’ve had about all I can handle watching this crap. This is pathetic. Take care Sooner Nation

  • leatherneck1061 says:

How much are we paying Stoops again? He’s what…..the 3rd or 4th highest paid coach in CFB??

  • Dr. Doobie says:

Game over, time to watch real housewives. Much more entertaining than this crap

  • Ash Jones says:

I’m afraid OU could lose by 50+. There are no brakes on the rape train of Clemson tonight,

  • RBear says:

Mike Stoops apparently losing his battle against (who really?) The offensive juggernaut that is Clemson?

  • Rene Goupillaud says:

do we keep playing TK after 2 Ints, one a pick 6 and another that should have been an Int.

In his defense, he hasn’t played in 6 weeks. But then, he really doesn’t seem to be a D1 Qb in terms of game sense.

JH, why do you call plays he can’t execute without high risk of an Int?

  • Robert Boone says:

If this is what it takes to get rid of some coaches, then let it be.

  • ruasoonerfan2 says:

I’m here during the good, I’ll be here during the bad.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Time to start drinking.

  • Indy_sooner says:

    Changes.Many of them.Needed

  • Jason Scism says:

Guys we haven’t been any good since 2008. I don’t know why I expected anything differently

  • Ed Cotter says:

Good coverage by JT on that one.

  • Defend Colfax says:

    Lets Go.

  • David Rutherford says:

Feed the Monster ? The Monster is DEAD !

  • Ash Jones says:

At least when OU sh:ts the bed they go full exploding diarrhea all over the place.

  • Zack says:

The defense needs some help or this will get uglier. Outside of one play the defense has done well.

  • Robert Boone says:

Please don’t come back and make it close. The coaches will just take credit and wont be fired.

  • RBear says:

The game has left many on this staff behind.

  • DrLov says:

As bad as it is, I keep thinking of how worse it is going to be next year.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

So everyone agrees Knight is not the starter in 2015? We replace two of the three wr’s, 3-5 OLine, the TE.

  • Sooner Ray says:

Recruits should be jumping at the opportunity for early playing time.

  • Sureyoubet says:

what I don’t get is that it seems no one on this team wants to play next year either… Or does Stoops not make it clear that it’s a possibility? Trevor Knight gave us the Sugar Bowl. We should thank him and move on.

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

I hear Jim Harbaugh will take $9M

  • Rene Goupillaud says:

Bob has to realize this isn’t going to sit well with some folks who matter. I think he needs to ask himself if he really wants to be a head ball coach anymore. He just doesn’t seem to know his team. Before the season, he said we had the best off season program in his tenure. The this week he said we had great practices. Really? Does anyone believe either statement?

  • Greg sparks says:

Time to see all the qb’s, pull the shirt off see what we got. Find a WR that can throw why go into next yr with no idea what we have at qb. It’s obivious we can’t trust the coaches and their evaluations. JH needs to go as soon as the plane lands.

  • lebval15 says:

If harbaugh took $8 mil lets offer Pete Carroll $10

  • Kuzi says:

This is absurd and embarrassing. The lack of player development is astounding.

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Heupel recruits “faith based” QB’s while others win titles with no spouting of the Lord(Keep It to yourself) trevor knight! Hell J.C your god has nothing to do with you winning a nat’l title! Get some guys with an edge who can play and be decent “Humanity” people in here and we damn well likely win something!

  • DCinAZ says:

Announcers just said we look like a scout team. LOL!!!

  • lebval15 says:

So that’s what a defensive tackle looks like

  • James D-Space says:

“Varsity against JV” nice assessment announcer arse!

  • lebval15 says:

BV knows what pkay JH is going to call before JH does

  • Mark Evans says:

    Trevor had a jersey change?

  • DCinAZ says:

Playing way off the WRs again and giving easy 1st downs.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Why is Sanchez so far off?

  • James D-Space says:

    No kidding

  • OUhound says:

This really reminds me of OU in the mid 70’s and what we used to do to teams like Vandy and North Texas St……in reverse.

  • Jason Scism says:

I think Castiglione is culpable in this as well. He holds no one accountable on that staff.

  • DCinAZ says:

3rd and 3 and we back way off again.

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

On third and three I don’t think we should give a 6 yard cushion.

  • Robert Boone says:

    have they punted yet?

  • DCinAZ says:

Where are all these Striker blitzes Mike says he runs?

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

    Off fcking sides

  • Jerry reid says:

    Offsides

  • DCinAZ says:

    That’s coming back of course.

  • Dr. Doobie says:

    Just killing ourselves!!

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    Damn

  • Defend Colfax says:

    I want to cry

  • Dr. Doobie says:

We continue to man average, at best, QB’s look like great players…

  • PLAW0720 says:

    We look so Blake-ish

  • brian says:

Damn, we can’t catch a break.

  • Defend Colfax says:

    Of course

  • red clay says:

Man, all season we make these third string back up QB’s look good!
We are very helpful in that way.
I’m soooo happy that young Mr. Stoudt will have these cherished memories of the game of his life.
    We are such good guests!

  • Dr. Doobie says:

    SMDH

  • SoonerfanTU says:

We haven’t been a good tackling team in about 7 years. Especially in the secondary. That crap doesn’t go on Mike, or the position coaches. That is on the players, and it should be embarrassing to them.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

This is a joke. NO one has a spot next year.

    • Lesslie Stanford says:

Mike is the position coach for he secondary!

      • SoonerfanTU says:

No crap? But he doesn’t coach them alone, and my post wasn’t “just” about the secondary.

    • Sooner Ray says:

We should be recruiting guys that can tackle and coaching them to tackle better. That is a coached skill, doesn’t always come natural.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

I disagree. Completely. Not saying the guys can’t be better, or more fundementally sound tacklers in college, but the kind of players OU is recruiting should know 90% of what they need to know about tackling, before they ever set foot in Norman.

        • Chris Pedersen says:

So they can’t evaluate kids well enough to know if they can tackle in space at the d1 level? When this trend continues year after year the constant is the coaches they’re here every year with new players that can’t tackle…hmnnn

        • brainpimp says:

          That’s weapons grade stupid tu.

    • brainpimp says:

Do you work hard at being clueless? Any clue at all about who teaches tackling? Here’s a hint, it’s not the pep squad or the band director.

  • kt-raida says:

    WE DESERVE THIS!!!!

  • Zack says:

I was way wrong. I didn’t see any scenario where Clemson would blow us out.

  • BleedCrimson says:

Wow, So unprepared… How sad a day for OU fans everywhere!!!

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

      Unprepared? Bad players?

      • BleedCrimson says:

Scouting, Recruiting, coaching??? Wish I had an answer. But at the beginning of the day, we are not prepared for what we are seeing. Kids overrunning plays which leave gaps to blow through. OUr QB is not hitting 10 yd patterns… Just plain sad. Seriously, Kids don’t even know who is supposed to take the Kickoff???

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

Fire everybody, the players should wonder why no coaches are on the plane ride home

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I am sick of the people on this site blaming coaches for player mistakes, learn the freaking game before spouting off.,

  • lebval15 says:

Good to see all those extra bowl practices paid off

  • Lesslie Stanford says:

Jordan Thomas has to make that tackle. We do not have a player inner secondary that is a sure tackler.

  • Defend Colfax says:

    Faith…. in…. stoops… is…. trailing……. off…

  • Christopher Napper says:

I really really really hope some coaches get fired!

  • PLAW0720 says:

Hmmm – I wonder how the next meeting between DBo and Stoops will go.

  • Robert Boone says:

At least this will make for an interesting off season.

  • PLAW0720 says:

    This is worse than TGOWWDNS

  • lebval15 says:

Dear Bob Stoops – I hear Northern California is a nice place to live. the 49ers are hiring. Raiders too.

  • Dr. Doobie says:

No pride or fight in this team. I honestly hope they shut us out and maybe bob will realize that this product he is putting on the field is garbage.

  • BigJoeBrown says:

The only thing preventing Clemson from scoring right now is the commercials.

  • Jeff says:

How many recruits will OU lose because of this? I say 5-6 maybe or more. I know people say losing a game doesn’t matter but who would want to play for this staff???

  • ND52 says:

    Fire em. All of em.

  • Ash Jones says:

If Bob Stoops is half the coach we think he is, he will not only fire Mike Stoops but not allow Mike on the plane home.

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

Ash you are right about one thing…Stoops is half the coach I think he is and that should tell you enough!

  • Zack says:

It’s not over but I have very little faith that this game will turn around. But an embarrassment is what this team needs.

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

    Reset.

  • James D-Space says:

Man this is terrible… Feels like we are closer to rock bottom than top of the mountain!
    Show some pride guys!

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    Jeez

  • Lesslie Stanford says:

We have a fucking receiver back there and he can not catch the ball!

  • DCinAZ says:

ANd now for some special teams keystone coppery.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

The players left their minds at Disneyworld.

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

When this game is over I will have told you so..I was right all along. Everything I have pointed out has come to fruition, But mindless idiots will be mindless idiots whatever they do… I’m glad I never have to be around folks of this nature, it would get ugly real quick!

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

You sound lonely. Why are you lonely?

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

Robertson I don’t like you and you don’t like me. Savvy? Lets keep it that way.

      • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Is that why you’re lonely? Because nobody likes you and you like nobody?

And why did you reply to yourself if the message was for me? You know, since you’re talking about idiots and all.

    • Won says:

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

  • Dr. Doobie says:

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

    I don’t recognize this team.

  • Dr. Doobie says:

    Pick 6?

  • kt-raida says:

    Wow….we are texas now.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Yes, just give it to Perine.

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Thank heavens we still have Perine.

  • PLAW0720 says:

Well, to be fair, I’m tired of people on this board making excuses for coaching that can’t put a game plan together, teach fundamentals, hold players accountable, and put a soft product on the field.

    • BigJoeBrown says:

      bingo….

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

      +100

      …or should I say, +whatever is Clemson’s final score

    • SoonerfanTU says:

And I’m sick of fans that think OU should be a championship team every season, or every other season, and completely ignore that football is a cyclical sport.

We had our run from 2000 to 2008. Better than anybody. Unfortunate and a bit unlucky that we only have 1 NC to show for that period, but it is what it is.

Look at the other teams that are powerhouses. Look at Florida. Look at USC. Look at Michigan. LSU. Nebraska. Every one of those teams has ended up in a much worse position than OU is currently in. And outside of Saban and Bama, even with OU’s recent struggles, no other team/coach has outperformed OU and Bob Stoops.

I used to freak out when fans of other teams said OU fans were obnoxious. They were right. We have some pretty shitty fans. Embarrassing.

      • Mark Evans says:

And 4/5 of those teams just fired their coaches! We are NOT bad fans because we recognize grossly unprepared teams and poor game planning! Calling out an underperforming staff needs to happen when this CRAP product is put on the field!! I appreciate the fact you support OUr team, but so do we without the crimson colored glasses.

        • SoonerfanTU says:

Do better math. 4 of those 5 did NOT just fire a coach.

          • Lesslie Stanford says:

Florida, Nebraska, and Michigan just fired their coaches this year and USC last year.

          • Mark Evans says:

Thank you Lesslie, close enough for me. My point does not change, your crimson colored kumbaya “look at Bob’s track record” means ZIP this year. Want some more “math”… 51-15 record last 5 years compared to powerhouse Okie State @ 47-17.

      • RonTee says:

Finally a real fan on here .Glad to meet you.

      • Jason Argo says:

So your saying we should be okay with this?

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

        Dude you are clueless!

      • CcrBoomer says:

Used to? Not sure you stopped actually. JMHO

      • Rene Goupillaud says:

Soonerfan, I don’t think anyone I’d complaining about not winning a MNC. The complaints are about not being prepared, not being motivated, not playing to their abilities and basically laying a gigantic egg. This reminds me of the Orange Bowl against Arkansas after the 77 season.

Bob has shown that a can’t get a flat team to get up off the mat. Whether USC in 04 BCS Championship or this game, they are clueless about what to do. Clemson is emotional as USC was in 04. We’re as flat.

Our coaches have no fire. They look old. They act old. Dabo is a players’ coach. Bob’s team is like Bob. If things don’t go right, we’re lost.

      • OohRah Mama says:

And I’m sick of mostly wet-behind-the-ears fans who call other, mostly decades-long fans shitty. Or pop off at their loud sucks that we shouldn’t have Championship expectations every season. I taught my kids to aim sky-high for whatever they try. Will they succeed every time? No. Will they be the very best at what they try each endeavor? No. Should I expect less from them because of their human imperfection? No. Does that mean they should expect to fail? No. Should they expect their brothers to fail because they won’t be number one? No. Should their Drill Instructors have said “You won’t always win in combat so let’s just sit around wasting the next thirteen weeks.”? Oh hell no. I damn sure start each season expecting a NC, and to do less belittles my program. Will we spend some seasons sucking? Yep. But that shouldn’t – and will never be – my standard for my Oklahoma Sooners Football team. Go…fly a kite and be assured that what you say doesn’t mean diddly squat to more of us than you’re comfy knowing. That attitude of expecting less is what’s embarrassing.

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

OU fan since 1973. Yes we strive and expect the best. But this throw the bums coaches out is unwarranted as SoonerfanTU mentioned.

        • SoonerfanTU says:

If you don’t understand the difference in what I said, and what you said, you are part of the problem.

          • OohRah Mama says:

Oh sugarbaby, you haven’t got a clue.

          • Jared William Reininger says:

Look, I don’t want everyone gone. I don’t even want stoops gone. But to say we are okay is not correct. Heupel needs to go. Kish needs to go. Mike very well may need to go. But our coaching has been atrocious this year, I don’t think anyone can argue against that.

          • brainpimp says:

You are unbelievably blind or ignorant. Which is it?

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

You know what? You said what I have been trying to say. Thanks SoonerfanTU. Those are the facts. Other than Bama who else is more successful? We beat FSU in 2012, We beat Bama in 2013. Oregon chokes mostly every year. Only baylor and bama have been better lately

      • FlatLander says:

No, this is not high school football where you use the players you are dealt. These guys either have lost the ability or desire to evaluate recruits or they have lost the fire to teach the talent they have. Not sure which.

      • cheezyq says:

I’m sick of shitty fans that bitch about other fans. Get a grip. You’re talking about passionate fans of a sport, on the Internet no less, that just watched their team get its ass kicked. If you expect anything other than rampant bitching then who really is the shitty fan here?

      • soonersince57 says:

We also have some fans that don’t see a runaway train when it’s coming at you either

      • PLAW0720 says:

Respectfully, I totally disagree. My dad grew up helping the equipment manager pick up tackling dummies in the late 30’s and early 40’s, sold concessions just to get into the games, and taught me to love the Sooners in the 60’s. I’ve followed the Sooners intently since about ’69 and watched Berry feed the monster that my dad had watched Bud create. That, sir, is Oklahoma football – winning championships and contending for national championships more years than not. My dad, an Oklahoma all-state OT/DE in ’48, would be the first to call out the keystone cops running the OU sideline. If we are shitty fans, the so be it. But, it is not unreasonable for us to expect OU to play at a high level every year. Fans that make excuses for coaches that put a product on the field that more resembles a powderpuff team are more fans of the coaches than they are of the Sooners.

  • DCinAZ says:

Veteran offensive line getting in on the clownshow.

  • Ed Cotter says:

Anyone realize that OU has not even crossed the 50 yet? SMH

Hmmmmm the Brainiacs are pretty quiet.

  • PLAW0720 says:

We continue to get deservedly slammed by the announcers. Scout team, don’t want it, etc., etc.,

  • BleedCrimson says:

Almost X-boX time. I know the Sooners can win on my TV there…

  • Defend Colfax says:

our two biggest plays were called back.

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

Bob Stoops needs to be told his job is on the line next year. If he wants to stick with this coaching staff fine, but the coaches seem too complacent.

    • M Shuster says:

He can’t fire Mike, he won’t fire Heupel, he is too loyal/neurotic to recognize his recruiting coordinator is failing.

      • Matthew Hawkins says:

Than they turn it around or all get fired next year.

      • Ed Cotter says:

So Bob needs to fire Cale Gundy, the recruiting coordinator? Huh?

        • Matthew Hawkins says:

He needs to fire some people, this coaching staff is coaching safe.

        • M Shuster says:

Yes….fire Cale Gundy. Look at the recruiting classes we have put together. Yes…..Fire Cale Gundy. We miss out on Talent like Adoree Jackson year in and year out. Yes Fire Cale Gundy. Did I say that loud enough. FIRE CALE GUNDY!

    • BleedCrimson says:

Incompetent, either in recruiting, or coaching, or both. But we should not look like we are running the JV’s on the field

  • M Shuster says:

What you are witnessing, Ladies and Gentleman, is the opening act to several years of being either mediocre, or simply aweful. We have no talent, and our coaches are lost. It is what it is.

  • Stephen says:

Be right back, going to begin demolition on the stadium early.

  • BleedCrimson says:

Hey, We made it past the 50…

  • OmorganU says:

  • OUhound says:

Hard to believe that Perine has 62 yards in the first half against this D. Fumble or not, got to give him props.

    • Matthew Hawkins says:

      No, he gets no props;

Nobody gets any props when your team is being embarrassed.

      • OUknowwhatitis says:

Agreed…no props givin especially after a fumble love perine though

      • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Whelp, if we make a change at QB, I think we will have a shot… No?

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

If I’m Dorial I be on the first plane outta there. Why would the top Wr in the country come back and risk injury for the chance to catch a pass from Little trevor..?LOL

  • Robert Boone says:

Sad to say that this is exactly what needs to happen to finally see some changes in the off season.

  • RBear says:

Just wondering where the hell all of this dust is gonna settle.

  • Young tassels says:

    This is embarrassing!

  • OmorganU says:

If we could produce any offense, we could come back and win this. We are playing good enough against their offense.

  • Zack says:

I can’t argue with the trolls tonight. This is embarrassing and something had to be done regardless but something more serious needs to happen now.

    • RBear says:

I think the writing has been on the wall for some time, just taken a bit longer for some to see

    • connie usa says:

I hear you, but Bob and MStoops will be back. And more than likely, so will Josh.

    • rphokc says:

….careful zack………the positive police will target you

    • BoomerDave says:

Will you finally admit that JH is a huge part of the problem? He is the one that has hand-picked the past 4 QB’s and has totally failed at developing any of them. And that’s not even talking about his pathetic play calling.

  • Young tassels says:

    Still, no punt returner….

  • Phil Counts says:

Absolutely the single worst half of OU football ever, completely embarrassing.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Oh, that was just the first half?

  • OUhound says:

Could be worse. Could have 10 minutes left in the first half.

  • andy says:

People say all the time that you make your own luck…..this team is making bad luck for itself right now and I’m not sure I see it turning. When there is little to no fire and passion from the head coach there won’t be any from the players and when you play afraid you create more bad luck. There have been signs for a while that a complete overhaul wad needed but as far as I’m concerned this is the nail in the coffin we need to start over with someone who has a real passion to coach and recruit. Bob doesn’t have it

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I just don’t see how player mistakes are on the coaches enlighten me?

      • Zack says:

        Poor preparation.

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

What proof do you have? These are kids. There is nothing to be gained? You want a Knute Rockne speech? What do you see that tells you they aren’t prepared? Poor tackling in on the Db, offsides on the Db, poor blocking on the OL, passing on the QB.

          • andy says:

What more proof do you need other than the performance on the field. If you think coaching matters so little to the success on the field then why have a coach at all cause its all on the players to play right?

Poor preparation leads to all the mistakes you mentioned. Poor tackling due to not tackling enough in practice. Poor blocking due to not preparing for the blitzes and stunts a defense is going to use against you. Offsides due to lack of discipline coaching. Poor QB play due to failure to recruitt properly its all right there you just choose to excuse the caoches and I choose to hold them accountable for their production.

          • Herman Bubbert says:

There isn’t a soul who played this game watching tonight who wouldn’t tell you that this team is poorly coached and woefully prepared. If there is, they’re intellectually dishonest.

          • Phil Counts says:

The coaches recruit and coach these players. Somewhere it is going to shit,it needs fixing period.

          • kcsoonerfan says:

The proof would be what we are watching. Clemson=prepared. OU=not prepared.

      • andy says:

The coaches recruitt and prepare the players. Unprepared players play like what you are seeing tonight.

      • PLAW0720 says:

Have you ever played the game or if you did, did you play on a winning team? Good coaches demand perfection – all of the time. Every rep at practice must be perfectly executed so that when you get to game time you don’t make mistakes – as a player and as a unit. Coaches teach fundamental techniques- these are not natural and must be learned. Coaches scheme game plans to take advantages of the opponents weaknesses and put the players they have in a position to be successful. Coaches also must have a fire in the belly that hates losing more than they love winning. They must instill that fire into their players. That’s about as simple as I can put it. On all counts, HCBS is failing.

  • Jason Argo says:

Wow…I don’t know what else to say.

  • Defend Colfax says:

I would boo you today Stoops. I would boo you.. I don’t even do that crap but today I would boo you

    • Defend Colfax says:

I feel like I just spent my last dollar to watch a washed up band play at some fairgrounds concert. And they didn’t show up…. When all along my friends have been telling me they suck for years.

      • kcsoonerfan says:

that is awesome. a washed up band that doesn’t show up to the fairgrounds.

      • 22dupree says:

Now after that 1st half, I needed a good laugh … but I got a great laugh (almost choked on potato chips while laughing) that a was priceless post. A+ … and I feel the same way.

  • RBear says:

what was your score prediction? mine was 31-19 Clemson

  • OUhound says:

  • Defend Colfax says:

If Michigan wins a NC before we do. I will get a Bo Schembechler tattoo

  • Jerry reid says:

I hate to say this but I miss Landry jones

  • Kyle Roach says:

I had hope that maybe tk would do better having been out but GEZUS!!! Secondary is no surprise though. If secondery isn’t fixed and coaching changes after the botched season and this embarrassment we have real real problems!! Disgusting to say the least!!!!

    • Kyle Roach says:

didn’t mean Bob meant Mike! Possibly Norvell as well.. Hints the juco

      • Kyle Roach says:

and while i’m on a roll how about a quarterback that can complete a pass and not lock on a player before he takes the snap!

  • Stephen says:

It could be worse, we could lose our highly rated recruiting class….

  • SamSooner says:

On the positive side, the defense hasn’t quit. They are still going after it.

  • RBear says:

Does Stoops grant the pre-3rd qtr interview? Can’t wait for it.

  • CcrBoomer says:

Rumor must be true that OU wants to be in the B1g. They are sure playing like a Big 10 team

  • Austin says:

When is the last time ou was shut out in a first half?? I’m only 17 so I can’t remember too far back.. But I can’t ever remember being shut out in a first half. Does someone happen to know? Maybe the Blake years?

Sad to say, but I am 1000% convinced that Knight will never be a good college QB. I’m also positive that without a major overhaul to the coaching situation, this is what we’ll see much more of. I felt that OU would get handled in this one when the matchup was announced, but this is just sad.

For crying out loud, Cunningham (whom I HATE) spoke very accurately when he said, and I paraphrase here, “The guys in orange look like they’re the ones who are on scholarship and the guys in white look like they’re the ones on the scout team.” That should NEVER be said about OU football. This is all I need to burn it all down.

    • kcsoonerfan says:

agreed. SCKS Chief for President. Of OU.

    • RBear says:

Hard to ignore this black eye

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Knight is done after this game. Clipboard jockey.

    • Won says:

Discontent is the first step in the progress of any man or nation
      –ffc (from fortune cookie)

    • soonersince57 says:

It is sad how bad we have gotten in two years. We are no better than 5th in the big 12. Thank god for Kansas and Iowa state. Who would believe that Baylor “BAYLOR”!!! Would kick our asses like this. If you idiots think this is acceptable, then keep throwing away your time and money. Until I see a sign that stoops is even trying to address the situation, then I’ll just spend much more time with my family, especially my New granddaughter.

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Hunter this is all on Bobby and Josh. Where has Harbaugh qb’s spouted off on faith and acting like your in church at a damn football game. This is war Sooner Nation not a damn Chuch revival. These are warriors trying to beat the hell outta one another but we got soft faith based personnel trying to appease some faith do-gooders I imagine in norman…

    • Defend Colfax says:

      You talking No Titles James?

    • James says:

If you think people with “faith” are soft perhaps you should spend a little time in a bible.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

James talk to me on Sunday about God. No offense but you chiming in about this during a football game, where this program is embarrassing itself is little much right now…

    • SCKSChief says:

Tebow beat everyone’s ass…was he soft?

    • kcsoonerfan says:

not much to do with faith or church. this is just a badly prepared team playing badly.

    • red clay says:

Castor – it sounds like you have issues totally unrelated to football.

There are plenty of good counselors around. Have your primary care Doc assess you and provide a referral.
      Seriously.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Dude your not trying to help me at all… seriously.! Why would I ever trust someone who has attacked me for speaking about what I see on this field.?

        • red clay says:

          why?
because you complain more about church stuff on this FB site than you complain about FB stuff. I can’t argue with your FB criticism. We stunk up the joint tonight. I feel so bad for the seniors, they deserved better than this.
If you’re really against the churchy stuff, go talk to Tebow, and his Heisman Trophy, and his NC ring. It sure didn’t hold him back in the college game. Those personal sideshows aren’t the problem.

The problem starts in the HC office.
Does Bob truly want to coach? I’m not so sure anymore.

        • red clay says:

          CTB –
Allow me to apologize for my inappropriate comment during last night’s dumpster fire. Not an excuse, but I think we were all really ticked off that our over-paid coaches just don’t seem to care. All you did was state an obvious thing.
You are O.K., I was out of line.
I read your comment about the headache, I hope you’re doing better soon. Best wishes for a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year to you and yours.

  • Greg sparks says:

The New Stadium is getting smaller and smaller

  • Robert Boone says:

On the bright side, TV Land is doing a Gilligan Island Marathon

  • kcsoonerfan says:

Jordan appears to be the smartest man in the world right about now doesn’t he all you Jordan haters.

  • CDC says:

Has the OU offense ever had a worse half?

  • Randy White says:

Fans are doing their best to pump up recruits on twitter.

  • Jeff says:

Don’t see Stoops being fired in 2015 but who will be the canidates in 2016?

  • Defend Colfax says:

It’s funny because everyone just wants a win but there are so many idiots people are just grunting and calling each other out.

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Man I cannot wait to run into Spencer Tillman here in Houston! I’m Buying him Lunch and a beer just to hear what he has to say!!! I can assure you….

  • Thomas Norman says:

My 2 year old daughter peed on me in that half. Who was more successful, her or the Sooners?

  • DCinAZ says:

At this point, if ESPN wanted to cut over to a sportscenter re-run, I’d welcome it.

  • CS says:

Q is this, the coaches with comparable pay scale to Bob never lose this embarrassingly. Losing in a competitive way is acceptable but when u are being taken to the woodshed, there needs to be more accountability. You would never see Saban or Fishers team lose wo a fighting chance, the staff knows what is in store if that happens.

  • Rene Goupillaud says:

My halftime adjustment. 1. Replace TK. Put Blake out there, he can’t do any worse.

  • Stephen Dale says:

hope OU got a lot of money in return for this national embarrassment. Clemson players must be laughing their fannies off in the locker room.

  • Ed Cotter says:

OMG, I just realized I had not been wearing my OU jersey for the first half! We are going to get ’em now!!!!!!

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Stop attacking me and attack this team. They are the one you should have your damn vitriol for!!!

    • Boomer4life says:

This guy hasn’t been banned yet either?

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Come down to Houston BoomerLowLife by all means come down here and “BaN ME” yourself. I’ll let you know where I am so you can “Ban” me…

    • eastoksooner says:

You stop attacking TK’s faith and attack his play if you must. Need to attack coaches tho, they are the ones getting paid for this

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Yes very true about the coaches. I was on scout board bemoaning his signing 3 yrs ago..and everyone on their attacked me because I was not a trevor rooter? They said “How can you question Josh? He is the one who recruited Sam and Landry LOL. It was the Indiana Coach who recruited both but I let the misguided stay that way…

  • curt gomer says:

Ok any recruits that have offers and are “sooner fans” are probably already commited so i dont think any of the others will take this season like us fans will but do they look at this and think i can go there and play right away or do they say im not going there that teams a mess?

    • M Shuster says:

I’d say they don’t want to come to this mess. Why would you? 2 and 3 star players will be lining up. No more 4 and 5 star players in our future.

  • lebval15 says:

Went from preseason top 5 to 5 losses. Well done guys…

  • RBear says:

I guess Bobby denied the interview

  • OUhound says:

Wow, catches it on the goal line and doesn’t run it out? Clemson is going conservative.

  • Robert Boone says:

This is like a grief counseling session. We went from shock to anger to acceptance laughter. Kumbya, or however the hell you spell it.

    • red clay says:

      Exactly!
All those comments about how we make 4th string back up qb’s look great.
I truly did not believe it would happen in this game.
      But here we are!
When Cole Stoudt was at 16/20 passing, I thought – it’s actually happening. And I just expect us to get whipped.

  • SCKSChief says:

This team is an abortion. Defense, as bad as it has been, is actually the bright spot tonight. HA!

  • DCinAZ says:

Everybody on our defense tackles high and throws people to the ground.

  • ccmosaic says:

We are so bad. I hope there coaches are embarrassed by this crap.

  • SCKSChief says:

Nice blitz from seven miles away, deliver a shot, and LBs don’t cover a soul. Not supposed to cover the grass, gents. Cover the dudes that can catch the ball!

  • Ed Cotter says:

Wow, he came out wide open on that one.

  • Robert Boone says:

WTF……The USC blowout was much worse. We gave up in a NC game.

  • CcrBoomer says:

    This Secondary sucks beyond belief

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

The Db are afraid to challenge to catches. I’m sick of this.

  • bjwalker82 says:

Let’s be honest with ourselves now and dispel any illusions. THE SOONERS EARNED THIS ASS WHOOPING. And until things change dramatically this will be the norm so get used to it.

  • Ed Cotter says:

And Clemson is already at the 33 yard line

  • James says:

Still giving a big cushion and bailing on the snap……geez

  • ccmosaic says:

We will score 3 or 10 in this game and give up 50.

  • CMH says:

This team is going to have to show me something before I waste anymore of my time and money……..

  • SCKSChief says:

Wow. Brent is taking Josh to the woodshed.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    They aren’t blocking.

  • RBear says:

    Sheesh, it’s only 6:30…

  • Stephen says:

So….is this Heupel’s tombstone or nah?

  • Christopher Napper says:

    Maybe Cody isn’t so bad.LOL

  • lebval15 says:

Their D is “well coached”. Ours is “JV”. Awesome.

  • OUhound says:

With that offensive line they are parked two yards deep into our backfield right at the snap. That’s something I did not expect

  • Dr. Doobie says:

Can we make a QB change???? PLEASE???

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

Next year we have Perine, Mixon and Ross. I say we go back to the Wishbone and never throw another pass.

    • Dr. Doobie says:

      And quit giving 10’yd cushions

    • M Shuster says:

Ross can’t run between the tackles, Mixon hasn’t played in over a year, not even in practice, and our offensive line gets to be rebuilt. Next plan?

      • Matthew Hawkins says:

Not every back needs to run between the tackles in the wishbone, Mixon didn’t loose his 5 star talent and run blocking is easier than pass blocking.

  • SCKSChief says:

So sick of this soft coverage and missed tackles by the corners.

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

Do we teach tackling at OU?

  • SoonerfanTU says:

Not sure why some of you thought the problems we had all season would magically disappear during three weeks December.

  • Peabody Thekat says:

I saw my first game in Owen Field in 1963.

    and…….

  • Docknoss says:

This Solidified TK’s Career at OU, next year is Baker Mayfield and Justin Hansen’s turn.

  • OUhound says:

I really have no problem with our QB’s. i think that they all have a ton of raw talent. What worries me is that its still raw, and their development is just non-existent.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

We haven’t seen Mayfield. But I’m done with Knight.

    • SCKSChief says:

I have a ton of problems with OU’s QB situation. Outside of Mayfield (who was not evaluated by Stoops) this team has a pack of horribly mis-evaluated youngsters at that position. Knight is TRULY the best of them, IMO and that scares the hell out of me. Maybe Hansen has a shot, but I don’t feel this staff can evaluate talent anymore, period.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Chief as long as Hansen shouts out to the Lord…. Heupel will make him the starter…Trust me, it’s all about the faith with ole’ Heupel…

  • Dr. Doobie says:

    It’s about to get ugly…er

  • ccmosaic says:

Honest question: Does Bob finally fire his brother and Josh after this performance?

  • lebval15 says:

When the commentators keep saying your team struggles to tackle it’s time to get a new defensive coordinator.

  • RBear says:

    Anyone need a cocktail?

  • lebval15 says:

after this stoops will be 8-8 in bowls. $5 mil well spent.

    • RBear says:

“People who are unable to motivate themselves must be content with mediocrity, no matter how impressive their other talents.” – Andrew Carnegie

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

Well guys who didnt tell me John Blake was rehired? Heads need to roll

  • SoonerfanTU says:

Why does CTB still get to post here? If anybody should ever be banned, it should be him. Yet he is still around. Insult after insult. Trolling. Not even an OU fan, most likely.

This is what happens to all good sites. The trash eventually find them, and they go downhill. Sad.

    • Ed Cotter says:

Just keep flagging as inappropriate. TFB staff is probably not even on here, so who knows though.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Been a Sooner all my life but I don’t support this. You can go right ahead. Laughing at you….

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

DUde you are too stupid beyond hope! Look at my damn AVatar!!!

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

Show your face man. Only a coward imho would call out others behind a keyboard and don’t show who they are….You afraid to back up what you say??

  • PLAW0720 says:

Yes, the No. 3 highest paid coach shows his value

  • OUhound says:

When I was at OU it was during the 70’s and Switzer. I remember us losing a few games (very few) but I don’t ever remember losing like this – just getting totally owned. I honestly feel like we are lucky to only be down 34-0.

  • Greg sparks says:

Stoops needs to clean house coach and player wise we’ve got no pride in some of these so called football players!!

  • OUhound says:

Ok we have 6 penalties for 60 yards, Shepard gets mugged and they still have 0 for 0? We are getting killed but come on!!!!!

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

    Go Fot It

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

The Sooners have no heart or desire. Bob you need to fix this quickly or you’ll be out very soon.

    • SCKSChief says:

It’s too late for me. If Stoops stays, I’ll likely not pay much attention. He’s the issue.

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

I’ll give him 2015 but thats it. Too much talent on the field to play this terrible. This isnt a motivation issue. Its a desire issue, and they have none of it

        • SCKSChief says:

Why? Why even one more minute to further ruin this thing? If a change needs to happen, sooner is always better than later.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

        Thank you Sir!

    • SoonerfanTU says:

There is no quick fix. Hopefully we are in the middle of fixing it. I think we’re probably looking at 3-4 coaches gone shortly. Coupled with the 2-3 we ran off two years ago, we’ll have nearly complete staff turnover in a 3 year period.

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

Its easily fixable. Playing with focus and poise under pressure. What Bob excelled at early on, and has gone from him now

        • SCKSChief says:

          With Blake’s kids.

        • SoonerfanTU says:

It’s not a switch that you can flip on and off. It’s a mind set. It’s a teams’ mind set.

It’s why teams that are historically bad typically have a really, really tough time jumping up and not being a terrible team anymore.

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

Bob turned the switch on pretty quick

          • SoonerfanTU says:

Doesn’t mean that is the norm. And a lot of that was the fact that he brought the spread offense to a conference and part of the country that hadn’t seen that.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

He had nowhere to go but UP form scnellie and Blake. Stop making excuses for this man!

        • CastorTroyBoy says:

Poise early on?? Easy to come back on no-defense nebraksa at home! Where was the comeback versus NU the next year? Colorado scored 65 versus NU 2 weeks later while we managed 14-17 points I don’t remember the score!

  • Stephen says:

51 unanswered points to a 2nd and 3rd string QB since the 4th quarter of Bedlam.

  • Chris says:

I knew this was the correct game to put my 39 confidence points on. I just put them on the wrong team!

  • rphokc says:

……….on LT…”Wow, Toby Rowland just said: if you joind us late, do something else”

  • PLAW0720 says:

Anybody want to start guessing what the excuses will be?

  • Robert Boone says:

Stoops should be getting used to these embarrasments . KSU in the Big 12 championship, USC in the NC, A&M in the Cotton Bowl, etc.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Listen to Cunningham Sooner fans!

  • ccmosaic says:

Has a coach ever had his pay cut? If I was the OU Administration I would tell Bob you cut your pay in half or you leave.

  • Sooner_Ace says:

Okay gents been watching the game and refraining from commenting for fear of piling on, a disheartening effort to say the least, and I think it is staff and player disconnect that is a cancer to the program. Cheers, I am going to play monopoly with the kids. To all the regulars here, tomorrow is another day.

    • RBear says:

      good choice- enjoy

    • ccmosaic says:

I am curious what coaches have the disconnect in your opinion?

      • Sooner_Ace says:

Mere speculation on my part, but the players do not seem to buy in to ms or JH plans, and by extension if BS is signing off on everything, they are giving him the finger as well. Whatever the coaches are preaching the players are not getting or buying into it, my 2 cents

        • soonerbred4ever says:

          Your dead on ace!

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Well they sure can’t tackle. D Alexander is weak. The Qb ran right past him on the goal line. OU does not have LB who can cover and fill holes or drive runners back. Jordan Thomas can’t tackle, hayes is a stiff at safety, A Thomas is playing scared and so is Parker. Sanchez was just dumb tonight.

    • Won says:

      Peace to ya!
      BOOMER!

  • Ed Cotter says:

I just want to a get off that goose egg. Even 3 points would be nice.

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

Let’s hope that all the recruits don’t back off after this performance

  • Lesslie Stanford says:

So I really do not understand what we are trying to accomplish on punt returns. We do not try to block the punt, but we let everyone run right down the field. We neither go for the block or block for the return man.

  • Christopher Napper says:

Knight can’t complete a 5 yard pass, why the hell is he throwing past 10 yards!

  • OUhound says:

Knight is 8 for 22 for 38 yards.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Take the QB out.

  • SCKSChief says:

Wow. This is worse than awful. I don’t know if my morbid curiosity can keep this disaster on much longer.

  • ccmosaic says:

Our punter is our player of the game.

  • Mizuno44 says:

Well, on a positive note, I’m betting that Venables feels okay about his move to Clemson…

  • SoonerfanTU says:

I’ll tell you who this game makes look dumb. That QB recruit that just committed to Fresno State, and Murray if he doesn’t switch to an OU commit.

I think Mayfield starts next year, but a talent like Murray would certainly have a shot. Especially if he is a guy that can enroll for the spring.

    • Won says:

The biggest factor is what happens at OC… Even if e have the talent….

      • SoonerfanTU says:

I actually think that changes on D are more important than coaching changes on O.

I want to see what JH looks like with a guy like Mayfield starting.

        • SCKSChief says:

          WHY????

          • SoonerfanTU says:

Maybe bc we were 11th in the country in points per game offensively this season? And 9th in rushing yards per game?

Like I said, give him a QB that can actually make reads and throw the ball on target, and I think he’ll be fine. A lot of injuries this year too.

The D? 48th in points allowed per game. Young secondary, but even the DL and LB’s didn’t really play up to expectations.

Offense outplayed the D this year.

        • Matthew Hawkins says:

He is going to look like a guy who throws too much with the best RB in the country, just like he looks now.

  • OUhound says:

Wow, this is shameful. The announcers are making excuses for us.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

BV is going to shut us out!

  • diablodejalisco says:

Is jesus mad at trevor? sure not helping him out tonight.

  • Mizuno44 says:

I think Katy Perry shredded a phone number tonight.

  • James D-Space says:

I’ve watched very bowl game so far and OU is without a doubt the worst team I’ve seen.
    What a complete embarrassment.

  • Robert Boone says:

If we don’t have a team Psychiatrist, we should.

  • RBear says:

Is Bob listening to his playlist on that headset?

  • Ed Cotter says:

3 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter, 98 yards and 0 points. Friggin’ pathetic.

  • Peabody Thekat says:

I sez to our high school coach….’at least we have few seniors and a lot of guys coming back”.

He Sez “Yes, but they aren’t any good”.

However…I think OU has some good young guys.

  • SCKSChief says:

Any sports channel is going to be unwatchable for the next day or so…good thing there are other IMPORTANT games coming up.

  • rphokc says:

    post-game radio should be interesting……….

  • Ed Cotter says:

Won’t be a fumble…..has to go Clemson’s way. Just how things are going tonight.

  • Robert Boone says:

I predict we will have a chance to put three on the board in the fourth, and Hunnicut will miss a gimme.

  • disqus_uj44WuVjt2 says:

This sucks. The whole coaching staff needs to go. This is the worst coached team in OU history. The players are either a bunch of punks or the coaches don’t want to be at OU.

  • SCKSChief says:

So, besides RB…are there ANY non-terrible positions on this roster for next season?

  • Won says:

It’s a good thing this was the early game.
Our once-a-year chance to show the BOOMER SOONER on nat’l TV is blown
More records in the books … on the wrong side…
    Hope nobody notices

OU is still a national power… right?

  • Rashad See says:

a game like this (aka Texas A&M) creates a need for change. More changes may be coming then originally expected. Everyone is losing/has lost all confidence in the product on the field.

  • Guest says:

Always a fan, will still wear my OU hats and stuff with pride but it’s 7 o’clock- tuning over to something entertaining. Happenings in the athletic offices in the next few days and the countdown to signing day should tell us a lot about where we stand.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Was Mike Stoops covering that WR?

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Did the Clemson band just play boomer sooner?

  • RBear says:

Oh well- Always a fan, will still wear my OU hats and stuff with pride but it’s 7 o’clock- tuning over to something entertaining. Happenings in the athletic offices in the next few days and the countdown to signing day should tell us a lot about where we stand.

  • SCKSChief says:

I really hate that every backup QB that OU faces looks like a world-beater. Could it be that OU’s D is that awful or that OU’s QBs are so bad they couldn’t even be backups on other D1 programs? I think it’s both.

  • Jason Scism says:

Well if you want changes this is how it happens

  • soonerbred4ever says:

Does anyone think Boren might hear from a large donor? It’s all he understands, Money and Politics.

Be careful the homers will ban U and say u are “trolling” if U say something that any idiot can see. But I digress…

  • SCKSChief says:

    Ford has a fumble problem.

  • Hotrod33 says:

When it rains it pours hard.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Ford can transfer.

  • Dan Minar says:

16 years is a long time, do the browns still have an interest in bob?

  • James D-Space says:

Leave it to our defense to make the backup QB look like Joe Montana!
I’m out Sooner Nation… Hope everyone has a Happy & Safe New Year.

Wonder if HolaKyle even bothers this time around. It’d be about a 2 min video…if he includes the pre-game lead-in.

    • OohRah Mama says:

Between LSU Freek’s take and Thujone’s MS Paint coverage, the pain ain’t gonna stop anytime soon. Stuff of nightmares.

  • OohRah Mama says:

Worst game ever in my 50-year fan history. Holy moly, there are no words.

  • lebval15 says:

Dear bears – please take Bob

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

Is there anybody here that thinks there doesn’t need to be BIG changes made?

  • Jason Argo says:

Maybe Mike should be our offensive coordinator. He seems to have a knack for making average quarterbacks look good.

  • Zack says:

I would be fine if stoops is gone tomorrow and venables is on his way back to Norman. And I mean bob

  • Robert Boone says:

How many times has a Stoops team been absolutely embarrassed. More than a dozen I say.

  • lebval15 says:

Man Bob really knows how to look really outcoached in bowl games

  • Won says:

This is actually the best possible outcome for those fans who are ready for change. I am not getting to any specifics but we can all recognize that things are not right with OU football.
The result of this game makes it crystal that the time for a change is nigh.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Okay I’ll cave and ask for a change at DC and OC.

  • Ash Jones says:

Who can honestly say 2015 will be better? OU needs a QB stat and two WRs. Defense needs help at every position.

  • lebval15 says:

If texas can dump mack brown we can dump bob

  • Dan Minar says:

stoudt is literally one of the worst qbs in D1 and we make him look like rodgers, mikey you and bob should go back to Ohio and enjoy your retirement

  • Sureyoubet says:

So today is over, but what does Stoops say and do now to calm the mob? clearly he’s got to fire JH and MS. but it’s more than that. what else?

  • Amayetli says:

For all you fans who think this is okay or this is just a fluke, go screw yourselves.

This performance is inexcusable. This is not OU football, and this is pathetic.

Go hug your Bob Stoops pillow and keep your pathetic excuses to yourself. Blame it on the players or blame it on execution but at the end of the day this is all the responsibility of the coaches for either not getting the players involved or finding those who will fight.

Effort doesn’t require talent, discipline doesn’t require talent, and certainly a strong will does not.

It is painfully obvious to all (commentators are pulling it on) that this team does not give a crap. All
It seems they must be interested in is their free grab bags and the opportunity to travel to a place where most have never been. It is just a vacation for these fools, and yes they are fools. They have opportunity only at most 1% of us have and 90% would relish in.

Call me negative or whatever, but In the end everyone knows how pathetic this performance is.
Bob stoops may not deserve to be fired but he has not yet give anythig new to this program in years.

    • Won says:

      BS pillow!!!! haha

His highness has been living off the past and that line of credit is overdrawn.

      • Amayetli says:

I’m sorry, I am beyond frustrated and irritated and pissed: it’s one thing to be out coached but to be out played from the first minute to the last is beyond this program. It sucks to put it nice and I only wish I could express myself in the fullest without being banned for commenting.

  • lebval15 says:

Bet Bob reminds us that he beat Alabama last year

  • Dan Minar says:

up in new england they just switched off the game, thank goodness

  • pag says:

Jim Harbaugh went to Michigan, maybe it’s time for Rex Ryan to come to OU

  • Defend Colfax says:

I haven’t read a positive comment all night and people are still calling out sunshine pumpers. lol where are they?

    • DCinAZ says:

They’re hiding and making notes on how to respond. I suspect they’ll tell us we’re negative, bad fans, and there’s always next year.

    • Rene Goupillaud says:

How could anyone conceive a positive comment. Establishing world peace would be easier.

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

There here…Trying no doubt to ban the Only true Sooner who would fight to the death for the Old Sooner Tradition? I would fight anyone to prove I’ve been more of a sooner than they’ll ever be…

  • Chris White says:

These coaches allowed the players to go to Disney world all day and go clubbin at night. Instead of intense practice they were hungover

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Has to be. There is a always a little of that. But this team is unprofessional.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

excuses. DID bama do the same in Orleans or do you wanna credit Clemson for whippin’ our behinds???

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

It’s a reality when it comes to CFB. I don’t know how long you’ve been watching OU, but in 84 against Washington they didn’t prepare as Bosworth notes in his book. In 1977, against Arkansas, same situation. Still it’s not an excuse you are right. Bama against Utah in 2010? Perhaps some players don’t consider certain games that important. Bama last year? I say they did because it was a game. They scored 31 points didn’t they? The QB was running the length of the field to celebrate TD’s against us.

  • Mike Reed says:

Put Blake Bell in at QB!!!

  • ccmosaic says:

Can we hire BV as our HC? Seriously he has passion and desire and a plan.

    • Dan Minar says:

everyone was ready to run him out of town b4 he went to Clemson (me included)

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

Like Venables but he was never a “Sooner Man”! We need to Hire those who played here! The guy from Memphis might be the Next Harbaugh in a couple of years? Fuente I believe..? Give him a couple years and maybe a switch to big 5 program and see how he does there, then see if he wants to come back home…

      • Matthew Hawkins says:

That is the thinking that got us John Blake

If a coaching position is open we need to hire the best coach.

Bud Wilkenson was an All-American an Minnesota, not OU.

        Hire the best coach available.

  • Dan Minar says:

anyone who says be careful what you wish for..I say give us a chance, if we’re mediocre again we’re at worst back to square one, tired of hearing the bulls**t about B12 titles, with TX down for the past few years those mean absolute S**t

  • Rene Goupillaud says:

Embarrassing performance. Clearly Dabo is trying to elevate his program while our coaches are not. No adjustments ( except Sanchez replaced Sterling as fair catcher of punts).

Clemson up 40 and not satisfied. BV is intense. He has us down and he intends to keep us down.

  • SCKSChief says:

Maybe Chip Kelly could be pulled away from the Eagles…

  • Rene Goupillaud says:

Can it get worse with another staff? Not in my opinion. At OU, a 4 loss season is no better than a 12 loss season.

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

Tampa Bay press conference circa 1977:

Reporter: What do you think of the execution of your offense?
Jim McCay: I am for it.

  • Stephen says:

    I’m sad.

  • Sooner Ray says:

First time in many years I’m looking forward to the off season.

  • Guest says:

    Venables to Stoops

  • Ash Jones says:

A shutout means you failed at all aspects of your job completely and with absolute failure.

  • Robert Boone says:

I remember in the 05 NC game, the USC players said they couldn’t believe OU players just gave up early. I guess it’s part of the Stoop’s tradition.

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

I’m here today! I’ll be here Tomorrow and hopefully if Alive I’ll be here a year from now! Now if you plan on changing that I got 2 big weapons that want to say Hi to you…

  • Dan Minar says:

i’ve been saying this about OU for a couple of years, they are what I like to call a “bully team”, basically, if they have more talent than you and can beat you up they will run all over you. However, if you smack them in the mouth and make them taste some adversity, they run into a corner like a little girl

  • lebval15 says:

Remember when we were being talked about as a playoff team……

    • SCKSChief says:

I remember Jesse Palmer on Mike and Mike after the Tulsa game saying OU has “no weaknesses.” Yikes.

    • Won says:

That is so hilarious now…. and we certainly don’t have to worry about that mistake next year

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Look TFB posters, Barry Switzer went 8-4 three years in a row and righted the ship. BS has two more years to right this ship before we should ask for his head.

    • DCinAZ says:

      Just stop it.

    • SCKSChief says:

      C’mon man…

    • Won says:

      Bobby don’t have enuff NCs

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

Barry was a much different coach number 1. he could go out and get the best players. He was not out playing golf, he was not trying to promote what kind of family man he was…He also had great recruiters on staff,,,Stoops struggles to get the best player in Our state to sign… then tries some p.r. bull about saying we “chose to move on” because we have better lined up..?LOL Bedenbaugh is good but there not getting 5 star OL here and that is part of the problem. This staff arrogantly tells us to “trust their judgement”?? Their judgement on recruits is why were in this mess in the first place!

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Guys I want the best for MY SOONERS! Always have, always will..This is not the best for OU! We should expect to do better!

    • kt-raida says:

DUDE good rational post !!!!keep em coming!

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

KT I’m just an extreme sooner fan. Some are more of the lighter fare ..I am not. You cannot Imagine how many idiotic bar fights I’ve had with other teams fans over this football team? It’s very personal to me!

    • Phil Counts says:

Bingo ctb something has to change

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

      Respect.

    • diablodejalisco says:

i think we need to be meaner. we dont look mean. seems our players are hit in the mouth and they quit. i just dont know if you can teach mean but we should try.

  • Thegunnfather says:

Still love the Sooners. Heart goes out the seniors. Looking forward to next year. Obviously, some changes need to be made. But I appreciate the effort and hard work of the staff and players.
    BOOMER SOONER!!!!!

    • paganpink says:

Changes? What changes? And where was the evidence of hard work. We embarrassed ourselves by being incapable of even doing the fundamentals! Did you not watch the game!? We can’t even tackle! What is more fundamental to the game of football then TACKLING?

      • Thegunnfather says:

Disappointed that we showed some quit twice this season. No excuse for that. if you’ve been on a team before then you know they all wanted to win every game and how much work goes into that before the whistle blows. The results were unacceptable. But at the end of the day it’s over and I’m still A sooner supporter.

  • Stephen says:

The shine has worn off…..time for matte helmets 🙂

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

PERINE is a foundation to build on.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    YEAH!

  • SCKSChief says:

Whew. No goose egg at least.

  • KellyB says:

Glad we scored against the scrubs 🙂

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Honeycutt graduate already!

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

That 6 points is our freakin New Years gift.

  • SCKSChief says:

HAHAHA! Now blocked PAT. What a cluster. Now starting for your Oklahoma Murphys…

This program has BECOME Murphy’s Law.

  • lebval15 says:

My God Hunnicutt has become Ray Finlkle from ace Ventura.

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

In all seriousness I don’t think Bob Stoops should be fired. I also think he is in charge of his staff. I hope he makes some changes, but it is his decision.

But I think it needs to be made clear to him that he isn’t “Coach for Life.” We expect better from him and the tea and I think he would agree.

One of the things that bothers me most about this year is that we seemed to get worse as the season went on. That is a leadership problem. It is not normal for players to get worse. It is fixable, but it is going to take soe work.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Wait! Coach Stoops failed to block on the PAT! No it was his scheme!

  • KellyB says:

Cole Stoudt, Clemson’s “maligned” backup QB, named Player of the Game

  • Jeff says:

Can Stoops go more than 2 days without firing someone?

  • SCKSChief says:

How badly would this have gone if Watson had played? 60-6? 70?

  • Sooner Ray says:

So how many teams try to schedule us as their out of conference game?

  • lebval15 says:

At OU we specialize in making backup QBs look like heisman candidates

  • Amayetli says:

Fucking pathetic, two timeouts to recognize players. One for defense and one for offense.

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Throw Mike Stoops and Heupel some change and tell them to take the bus.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Remember Pat Haden didn’t let Kiffin take the plane home?

      • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

        Ah. If only.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

I’d take Kiffin any day over this bucnch. It would help with recruiting and it would be a homerun for the offense. But I know, some lamesters will say “he’s not “a fit” he’s Cali? Where Stoops from? Ohio oy yeah he’s a fit but Kiffin is not???LOL

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

    GO RAZORBACKS!!!!

I don’t know if I could take a Texas win right now.

  • lebval15 says:

I’d be satisfied with Mike and josh getting canned. If that happens Bob can stay.

    • John Garner says:

Agree. I like Bob as a man and a coach. He’s earned the right to try again, but he has to make some changes. Under Josh and Mike, we simply have gotten worse, not better.

      • SCKSChief says:

I really dislike seeing the “he’s earned” line. Maybe “OU should allow him” is more fitting.

    • paganpink says:

For one more year. And then if it’s still FU then he’s gone too.

  • SCKSChief says:

Twitter just told me that OU was favored in EVERY game this year…including this one. BARF

  • DCinAZ says:

Only Knight would throw into bracket coverage.

  • lebval15 says:

Knight looked at him from the second he took the snap

  • John Garner says:

We’re down 40-6 and Josh calls for play-action that results in another pick. This is so pathetic.

  • kt-raida says:

    UNCLE….

  • HoustonChiver says:

I feel so bad for our defense. I never want to see Trevor Knight in a Sooner jersey again.

  • SCKSChief says:

Why would Knight even consider throwing that ball?

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Because he can’t make reads or is scared to hang in there for reads.

      • SCKSChief says:

How can you say that and scream obscenities at the OL for not blocking, yet you want Bob to continue to put out more of the same?

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Because each series is different. If you want my opinion about the whole year than Knight is not good enough. The OL was inconsistent this year. Knight will be replaced by BS.

    • Jake says:

He doesn’t consider. He doesn’t consider holding on zone reads. He doesn’t consider to go through progressions. He just does what he’s told. And it turns out badly.
Thanks for trying, but he has to be done.
Sad part, as badly as he’s played there is no one else to go to. How sad is that!

  • Neworleanssooner says:

Knight has a learning disability.. He can’t look at anyone except his primary and he cant see 2 defenders covering the guy. Jeez!

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

TFB thank you for the form. You are the best! Boomer!

  • Greg sparks says:

TK thinks the Hail Mary is an actual pass play..

  • Jake says:

Someone will have to put Esco on suicide watch.

  • KellyB says:

Shouldn’t Trevor be replaced by Thomas? Wonder why he is still in

  • lebval15 says:

Baker Mayfield is my new hero

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Did Perine get hurt?

  • lebval15 says:

But until then, something has got to change. I’m about to go Obama campaign team up in this mug: Change!

  • Dan Minar says:

worst part was i was actually rooting for that clemson veteran to score a TD late in the game

  • rphokc says:

wwls………esch is going ballistic………fun radio….gonna be ugly around here for awhile…….

  • james babcock says:

After this game i don’t want anyone else telling me that bob stoop can still turn this program around . This was one of the most is disgraceful performances i have every seen from a ou team pure b.s don’t tell golden boy bob still can turn this around bull the hell he can.

  • paganpink says:

We fielded a team completely incapable of competing. When has that ever happened!? OMG. It just doesn’t get worse then that! We shouldn’t have even been on the field!

    • SCKSChief says:

I thought OU’s teams looked similar when UT was rolling with VY. They looked small and slow…just like tonight.

    • Sooner Ray says:

Some coaches possibly riding on pink slips, players checking out early, that’s what you get. No way to play through that.

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Barry was a much different coach number 1. he could go out and get the
best players. He was not out playing golf, he was not trying to promote
what kind of family man he was…He also had great recruiters on

were in this mess in the first place!

    • SCKSChief says:

Look no farther than the QB situation.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Could be, But you do know that they average 3.5 stars over Bob’s tenure don’t you? No complaining when they were in the hunt for the NC right?

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Hunter were you on scout Board back in that time period” ? I was not happy with our poor game planning in all of those bowl games to teams with a pulse! Please… you gonna brag and stick out your chest about Lowly UCONN?LOL

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

NO. I know what you are saying NC or bust. We are OU. But it seems that a new coach will mean we have two years competing with ISU and Kansas. I think Bobby should be given one more year with changes.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

I’m Okay with that (Only for recruiting purposes) but If only single digit wins next year he needs to be fired!

  • Matthew Hawkins says:

Wow, just heard that the long snapper for the Longhorns is a Green Beret veteran (proper term is Special Forces, the other is just a hat). But that is really cool.

After hearing that I am only hoping the Longhorns lose by 40 and not 50.

    • Dan Minar says:

don’t even care to root against the horns this year, they are mediocre just like us, not so much fun when you both suck

      • Matthew Hawkins says:

Yeah, but Charlie Strong is what Bob Stoops was 16 years ago, hungry.

He is coming for not just us, but the entire Big 12.

Texas has all the advantages, if they get a good coach they can dominate.

Mac Brown survived as a competent coach at Texas and even won a national championship. I never thought Mac Brown was an actual good coach.

        • Dan Minar says:

          Mac was a good recruiter
Yup, Strong I don’t think that strong in that area but hell of a defensive mind and is cleaning up that program pronto

          • Matthew Hawkins says:

I believe I heard that two 5 star recruits left A&M to move to Texas. His recruiting seems to be going fine.

Texas is the sleeping giant of college football. The make more than $30M than any other program.

They chased Nebraska and Missouri out of the Big 12 because they demand a bigger payout of conference revenue. Nobody in the SEC, Big 10 or PAC 12 does that. They are evil incarnate. But if they ever get their act together they will be a juggernaut.

          • RIsh says:

This isn’t THE Matt Hawkins is it? Lacrosse legend?

          • Matthew Hawkins says:

I wish I was, but I have never played Lacrosse.

  • lebval15 says:

Bob stoops has become mack brown, lloyd Carr, bo pelini, etc… He’ll give you 8+ wins a year, but he will never win you another title. If you’re ok with that then he’s your guy. But those schools weren’t, so why should we?

  • Mizuno44 says:

Folks, I don’t believe there is a Plan B. Fire coaches all you want but the complacency from our storied University is blindingly (is that a word?) obvious. Giving a coaching staff raises for the last several years with mediocre results, and trending downward, is irresponsible at best. Top recruits are attracted to the “brand”, and ours is not at all attractive. I’m not smart enough to know exactly what to do, but doing nothing is not acceptable.

    • Dan Minar says:

      recruits are attracted to:
      1. Becoming early NFL picks
      2. Playing for National Championships

Sadly, we don’t really have a recent past in either area, especially in the defensive side of the ball

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Beg to differ 1st rounders not bad….Gresham, Bradford, Williams, McCoy, J Brown, AD, McDougle, Roy Williams, Woolfolk, T Harris, Clayton, Joseph, Lane Johnson

        • CastorTroyBoy says:

The best players are not coming here that I do know. You think getting a b acker from VA and maybe Gallimore is going to change this staff culture??? You can go on believing that if you want….

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I guess you know more than me. But TFB talk highly about Gallimore and DeBerry..others…

    • Won says:

Sadly I think you are right. The current admin has been alseep with the program and also the conference realignment. Too bad because this was/is a critical time in CFB “business”. OU deserves better. Alarm clock is ringin loud now

    • JaysSooners says:

The only way Bob goes is if the donors stop writing checks and we fans stop piling into the stadium. That’s, sadly, the only way I see change happening. Money talks as far as the higher ups are concerned. The program is in steady decline but still extremely profitable. That’s the reality IMO.

  • Zack says:

I’m not going to listen to tonight’s press conference. Bob did Brent a solid. And by the way brent would be the next “B” we need. Benny, bud, Barry, bob and now Brent would be welcome.

  • hemisooner says:

Well that was embarrassing but expected since the players or coaches didnt buy into the game. The practice report reflected what we saw tonight. Poor leadership from players to coaches

  • Greg Rogers says:

Clemson was classless leaving their THIRD string quarterback in the game. Lol

  • 50312Sooner says:

The wife is a Clemson grad and asked me “Where did Oklahoma go?” I told her they were in New Orleans looking for the MVP quarterback…

  • hemisooner says:

I hope Mayfield can play or else we will suck next year. Knight is pitiful

    • Jeff says:

Hope Stoops isn’t putting all his hopes on Mayfield because if he gets hurt OU will be back to square 1!

      • hemisooner says:

        Yep,

      • SCKSChief says:

Very true. I would consider Knight “done” and maybe even Thomas as well. Go get two more GOOD QBs and let those guys transfer.

        • CastorTroyBoy says:

Chief, that what anybody with any winning sense would do. Saban has done it and would do it again in a heartbeat but Trevor a Stoops protege’ He gave him the keys and shipped our Legacy out to Utah. Which I’m sure the 80’s alums were just thrilled with..Shakin’ head

          • SoonerfanTU says:

LOL…..KT couldn’t even win the starting job at Utah for the full season, and threw a worse ball than Knight. He is, was, and never will be a legit D1 QB.

    • leatherneck1061 says:

I can damn near guarantee you JH is quite capable of screwing up Mayfield too – whether it’s improperly utilizing his abilities, calling terrible pass option plays, or just doing a miserable job of developing him as a player, JH has proven, to my satisfaction at least, he cannot coach qb’s and call the plays at the same time. This guy clearly can’t ride 2 horses with one ass, and it’s time the HC figured that out.

  • Jeff says:

Brainiacs, I hope you can talk with some recruits and get a feel. If I was them not sure I would come to OU for this crap!

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

The key if you want to make changes and keep BS is to allow MS to save face so to speak. He remains co-coordinator but is only really responsible for the secondary, that is what he will be in charge of. Bring in a def coordinator to game plan and be the assistant HC, that way MS is diminished but not embarrassed too much. JH is another matter. I don’t have an answer seeing he is connected to Boren.

Or BS can tell MS and JH it’s either me or you guys, and ask Pelini to take them at Youngstown.

  • Peabody Thekat says:

    Groundhog Day.

Average QB looks like a first rounder.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

TFB keep us updated. Please do something with the recruits if the coaching staff can’t.

  • SCKSChief says:

Wish I would have bet the gentleman on this very site who wished to wager me that OU would indeed NOT get thrashed. Rats.

  • Exiled In Ohio says:

I feel bad for the guys. They were demoralized before Bedlam, worse after that game, and really had their heads hanging tonight. They just didn’t believe.

But, let’s fix what’s broken, bring in a great recruiting class, and reload. We’re 0-0 for 2015 … go Sooners!

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

      I love your optimism.

      • james babcock says:

But tell me why we should be optimistic about 2015 it will be the same old song been there done that soory my friend i won’t be drinking the kool aid.

        • Exiled In Ohio says:

Did you see the graphic during the game? BS is the 2nd most winning coach against the big 5 conferences. He has an amazing record.

Things may have gotten stale, and/or perhaps they just did some bad recruiting … but, yes … I’m optimistic they can turn things around. I don’t pretend to understand what will be required, but BS has a track record that warrants optimism, IMHO.

It is not helpful to sit around whining and grousing about how bad things went. Let’s feel bad for the players, particularly the seniors, but I’m ready to turn the page and start rooting for recruiting and next season.

          • SCKSChief says:

            8-8 in bowls…not exactly “amazing”.

          • Exiled In Ohio says:

Or you could say: 16-0 record for making bowl games.

          • SCKSChief says:

When all you have to do is win 6 to get there, that is even worse.

          • SoonerfanTU says:

Who cares? Most bowl games mean crap. You think this bowl game means anything as far as analyzing how good OU is or isn’t? Really? We’ve shown that bowl game results don’t necessarily carry over into the next season.

I’ve said it before…..non-Playoff bowl games don’t mean crap. It would be nice to win them all, but they don’t mean anything.

          • brainpimp says:

And that is where you would be totally wrong. The bowl games are measuring stick of the progress a team has made. win or lose you get a chance to work with guys you hadn’t and to get guys healthy and then you get to watch where they are compared to where they started the year. We went backwards.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I think SoonerfanTU is right. No carry over. Obviously the Bama win didn’t carry over did it? I don’t think this performance will either.

  • soonermusic says:

Pretty gross. Some good effort and good plays by the defense in some spots, but way too many mistakes across the board. Coach Merv said receivers were basically not open all night.

Coach venables called in the two’s and three’s so his old buddies could get on the score board ! Thank you coach V !! Very sad ou very sad !

  • red clay says:

Question for y’all: does Bob truly want to coach anymore?

  • Cory Reedy says:

We would have been much better off this year with Blake Bell at QB.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

For years when we screwed up there was talk about this assistant coach or that assistant coach or lack of talent at such and such position. One wondered how long it would be before some folks finally wised up to the one common denominator. Whether it was getting blown out by USC in 2005, not bothering to get off the bus for the fiesta bowl against WVU in 2007, or the disaster we witnessed tonight, there is one guy in a rather prominent position that has always been significantly involved in these embarrassments and keeps collecting rather large pay checks.

For a long time we have heard how Bob Stoops is committed to doing it right with integrity, even if it costs us key players. We heard how he leaves the office at quitting time and never, ever took his work home with him, because family comes first. At times it started to give the impression Bob was quite content to have a mediocre program so long as he was home in time for dinner. If that is the case, isn’t it about time for someone to ask why on earth OU has made him one of the top 3 or 4 highest paid coaches in the country? Do the results we have been getting the past 5 years justify such generous compensation?

    • james babcock says:

Hell no we shold ask for a refund.

    • Coach JK says:

You sir would be correct!!! Let me say that I have been a season ticket holder since 1967 and I will die a Sooner. But as I said after the TCU game, we are lazy at the coaching position because we do not know how to develop talent or scheme anymore. We never coach with an edge anymore!! This coaching staff lost our players weeks ago. The talent isn’t elite but there is talent on the field! Hell, you cannot tell me we have less talent than K St. or TCU. We simply do not know how to coach it!! I was told by the average sunshine pumpers to get off of the board, where are you boys now? Before you say I know nothing, please consider I am a retired coach who walked the sidelines for over 30 years!!!

    • Mizuno44 says:

LeatherNeck, loved the Texas Chainsaw movies 🙂

      You nailed it!

  • Stephen Dale says:

Bob Stoops just explained the game results in his postgame interview : it was lack of player execution …..

    • bjwalker82 says:

He just doesn’t get it anymore. Let him be defensive and give his non-answers, Players and Fans will just tune the guy out.

    • SCKSChief says:

      Because, hey…they beat BAMA!

    • FlatLander says:

Yep, I heard that to. Which adds to what I heard that there will be no changes other than they will have to work harder.

    • red clay says:

. . . so what method does he propose?
      Firing squad? Hanging? Electric Chair?

      /sarc off/
jeez louise, I wish Bob would man up. Excuse, story, alibi. wash-rinse-repeat.
When he arrived in Norman – he gave a big speech about “no excuses.”

Joe C. needs to play that video for Bob, and ask, “well?”

  • Stephen says:

Eric Striker announced he’s coming back.

    • Stephen Dale says:

he needs that degree . whether he plays on a team that can get to a bowl game next year remains to be seen…………

      • SoonerfanTU says:

BS. OU isn’t missing a bowl game next year. And you know it.

        • ccmosaic says:

Stephen is correct we may very well miss a bowl game next year.

          • SCKSChief says:

If Knight is the QB and there are no coaching changes, 6 wins could be it.

          • soonersince57 says:

That sounds about right. Some of these guys think this will fix itself overnight. I think it will take at least 2 years to get the program right again.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

Two years minimum IMO, and that’s assuming coaching changes this offseason.

          • SoonerfanTU says:

We won’t even come close to missing a bowl game next year. Worst case, and I do mean WORST case, is a regular season of 7-5. ZERO chance of OU doing worse than that. Zero. Some of you need to stop acting like 12 year old girls, flipping out over this stuff. We went 8-4 this year, and could have easily won 3 of those 4 losses. EASILY. What is going to make us 2 full losses worse next year?

          • Easton says:

            Yeah.

          • eastoksooner says:

            8 and 5

          • ATLJTB says:

And out coached in 6! No way we should’ve beaten Texsa

          • eastoksooner says:

            You are not wrong

          • james babcock says:

Hey clown if we lose 4 or 5 games next year like you jist said do you think bob should get a pay raise say 3or 4 million dollars to make him the top paying coach in America yeah right loser they should ask for a refund.

          • SoonerfanTU says:

            Nice sentence. smh

Bob Stoops has never gotten a $3-4M raise. So I’m not sure what your question is, exactly. And I didn’t say we’d lose 4-5 games next year. I said that was worse case, and we’d be bowling. I could see OU losing 1-2 next year, IF we can find a QB. Without a new QB, that means 3-4 losses are in play.

          • james babcock says:

You have no class anybody that would call Spencer tillman a clown is a total ass.

          • Greg sparks says:

Maybe you didn’t hear but your beloved Spencer Tillman said Jason White didn’t deserve the heisman just the other day.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Tillman has become a shill for the SEC. It’s one thing to say OU has fallen down, it is another to make an asinine comment that White didn’t deserve the heisman. I’m sure he thinks Chris Weinke did.

        • rphokc says:

……yeah, you can go to a bowl game with a losing record these days

        • leatherneck1061 says:

I wouldn’t say a losing season is automatic, but can you show me one conference game next season that’s a gimme? The way this team is playing?

    • Exiled In Ohio says:

Really? That’s worth celebrating! He was pretty good tonight. He played with heart.

    • SCKSChief says:

      Can he play QB?

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Well, he probably be moved to safety by MS.

    • connie usa says:

Good. Really doesn’t have a position to play in the NFL.

  • JaysSooners says:

I’ve just never been so disappointed in a season under Stoops and this game is the single biggest turd I’ve ever seen OU lay on a field. It’s not the loss. It’s not the score. It’s the way they did it. That really bothers me.

Just wish Stoops would stand up there and admit there are problems and state that he aims to fix those problems. The whole attitude and the “aw shucks it didn’t go our way what do you want me to do about it” thing has gotten stale. Get fired up about it and show some pride and some passion. But, instead, we will probably be reminded of Alabama. Of course I’m just a fan so he doesn’t care what I think anyway. He’s not in trouble until the money starts drying up anyway and he knows it.

  • JaysSooners says:

“This is a massive failure of leadership at Oklahoma. The decline began in earnest more than four seasons ago. Sad day. Leadership missed it.”

    — Spencer Tillman (@SpenceTillman), former Sooner and current CBS analyst, during halftime.

  • Austin says:

Well as disappointed as I am in how we played for some reason I’m not as mad as I normally am. We all knew that changes needed to be made and I think this is exactly what we needed. Had we won this game I think the feeling would have been that maybe things were starting to get figured out and maybe give the coaches another year. Even if we had lost a close game maybe that is still the feeling, but after this embarrassment it is even more clear that changes need to be made and almost makes me feel certain that changes will be made. 2 years ago when Bob had to fire coaches he made hires that have turned out to be great for ou. I have 100% confidence that Bob will hire the right people. It has to get worse before it gets better. Ou will be great again. Boomer sooner!

  • Coach JK says:

In 5 more seasons with no changes in the coaching staff made we will be happy about an 8-5 season because we are stuck in Bob’s world of mediocrity!!!

  • DCinAZ says:

    John E. Hoover‏@johnehoover
When I asked Stoops abt all the bowl blowout Ls, he said I should also bring up the bowl Ws. Including — you guessed it — Bama.

  • SoonerfanTU says:

I really hope some of you stop donating, and give up your season tickets. Just means I’ll get to move to a better spot in the stadium with my seats. Thanks.

  • Phil Counts says:

Who would you hire for either hc dc or oc and receiver coach

  • Cory Reedy says:

It COULD be worse. We could be wHorn fans.

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Guys I’m having a massive headache at the moment So I had better find those pain oills the VA gave me…bbiam..

  • leatherneck1061 says:

I think we’ve put this off long enough. It may well be time for a serious discussion about Bob Stoops being shown the door. It’s not that Bob isn’t a capable coach; it seems more a matter of knowing when a coach doesn’t have the fire in his belly anymore. Can anyone honestly say Stoops really has the passion to win it all anymore?

    • ND52 says:

It’s too late to snare a good coach at this point but the AD needs to start doing his homework for sure. I can’t believe that Stoops makes so much $$$……….

    • SCKSChief says:

I don’t think the losses burn like they used to/should. I don’t think the commitment to excellence and to the details is there anymore. It shows. Every Saturday.

    • JaysSooners says:

No, maybe he’s getting older or maybe the $5Mil + per year just makes you not care anymore. He seems more into securing his own legacy now as opposed to putting a quality product on the field. And the attitude when questioned about his shortcomings is just ridiculous. He could find the passion again but I don’t think it’ll be at OU. Hate to say it. I’ve been holding out hope but….

    • Coach JK says:

I’m on board with you!!!! He has lost his edge and players do not want to play for Mike S. or JH!!! The players hate these guys!!!!

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

How do you know they hate MS and JH? Perhaps MS antics on the sideline or in practice? Sure. But hate JH? Why?

    • red clay says:

I wonder if Bob truly wants to coach anymore. It is a grueling job, even when you love it, and even if you get home for dinner most nights. After some number of years anyone could be a spent force. Could be he’s just used up. No shame in that, he’s grabbed for the brass ring four times (is that right?) and actually got it once.
But this year’s doormat games (Baylor and Clemson) and not paying attention at the end of Bedlam tell me he may have had enough.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

I have thought the same thing many times. This job is demanding – no doubt about that. He really seems like he is burned out. I think he should really consider retirement.

        • Sooner Ray says:

I’ve seen rumors about that since his father died on the sideline at a fairly young age.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I’ve never thought about that. Perhaps Bob has turned it off a bit to lighten the stress and the effect stress has on the heart? Can’t blame him. Meyer quit Florida. Perhaps spending less time and delegating too much has weakened OU football. Need a grinder I guess. How about an offer to Sumlin?

    • soonersince57 says:

Stoops’ problem is he is so arrogant and so loyal to his family and buddies. If he can’t see what right in front of his eyes, then maybe he needs to go coach the browns

  • Billy says:

I was really looking forward to watching this final game of the season. Planned some traveling around it. Watched the first half and then went fishing. Good choice. Let’s hope for a better ending to 2015 than the beginning.

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

My douche radar is picking up a lot of chatter in the southeastern part of the United States. So much it’s jammed my signal.

  • SoonerfanTU says:

Since somebody at TFB likes to pimp UT as some up and coming team OU should be scared of…..they are down 17-0 to a mediocre Arky team, and with 7 minutes left in the first half, they have ~35 yards of offense.

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Even if they get blown out of the water as badly as we did, ESPN will come out with some article about Charlie Strong and his resilience and how awesome he is and such a great man of character and determination and…did I say he was resilient?

    • Stephen says:

They have a good recruiting class…

      • SoonerfanTU says:

        So do we.

        • CastorTroyBoy says:

Not is good as theirs and sorry to break it to ya Don’t be at all surprised texas wins the shootout next season. You heard it here first….Bubba.

          • SoonerfanTU says:

They might. It’ll likely be a toss up. Stop acting like saying that makes you smart or something. 50/50 game most years.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

Matter of fact, it’s not that great a class for UT. No five stars. And their split between 4 and 3 star guys is the same as OU’s, they just have a larger class so far. So the classes are pretty identical. And we may steal one of their 4 stars.

        • SCKSChief says:

Bill Snyder did more with his 2 and 3 star recruits (as did Briles) than Stoops has done with his “3.5 average” recruits in the past 3 years.

    • leatherneck1061 says:

And yet they held OU to 1 first down for an entire half. One. First. Down. That alone speaks volumes. And right now if it was us playing Arky, I would be willing to bet the score would be much worse.

  • Peabody Thekat says:

    SEC SEC nyuck nyuck

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

I can just hear the Arkie fans now. Glad I left NE Oklahoma before tonight’s fiasco.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

I remember the first time I really began to have doubts about whether Stoops would win the big one again . It was when I read a comment Bob Stoops had made to a reporter, I think after the 2007/08 Fiesta bowl embarrassment, and I wasn’t sure if many others really noticed it or not. He was asked about his players coming into big games unprepared, and he basically said that that being prepared was the players’ responsibility. I felt an almost overwhelming desire to ask him if he realized he was coaching a bunch of college kids or if he thought they were professional athletes. Today I feel like that same thought process is reflected every time he talks about “player execution” being responsible for a loss.

At the end of the day, I don’t think anyone is going to persuade Bob to commit any more time and energy into building a championship program than he already is. He seems to have already set the boundaries as to how much effort he’s willing to give in that regard. C’est la vie……I guess

    • SoonerGoneEast says:

      Well said.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

Good seeing you again stranger. Wish it could have been under more pleasant circumstances.

Likewise. Funerals are good for reconnecting.

          • Sooner Ray says:

I’m shocked JJ hasn’t popped in. Of course she’s probably peeling her exploded head off the ceiling.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

I halfway expected to hear from her during the A&M game, but she was probably busy getting her game face on!

          • Sooner Ray says:

Maybe she over poured the bourbon.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

I’d say most of Sooner Nation started pouring in the 1st quarter.

          • SCKSChief says:

Didn’t touch a drop. I think that helped me not hulk out and destroy my house and chase off my family.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

          • SCKSChief says:

HAHAHA! I was too shocked to drink early on and now I’m just…over it.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

A lot of us tried to have optimistic forecasts before the game, but I would bet all of us harbored secret doubts. This was somehow just so predictable.

          • SCKSChief says:

I told this very board that OU was gonna get pounded when I saw the matchup. Someone wanted to bet, I forget who. That could’ve been my silver lining…

          • Sooner Ray says:

See it’s your fault…you failed to execute.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

Sorry….at least that’s how I would imagine it at this stage. I can’t think of one positive thing he could say with a straight face to those players.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

I’m sure you’re right. He will at least imply that it’s on the players, when he’s the common denominator in all our failings. He’s not a leader. I have nothing left for him.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

Makes me think of the 30 for 30 on Bosworth. One of the things it showed was what a great motivator Switzer was. Brian talked about how he looked up to him and how Switzer made him believe. I don’t see anything even resembling that with this team. No belief. No fire. Nothing.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

I’m sure the players at this point have become conditioned to these types of losses. We have them every season now. The expectations are no longer there from within the program.

          • SCKSChief says:

I’m still floored by the yearly inexplicable losses. Those WTF losses. They happen every year. Every. Year.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

I’m numb to them anymore. It’s no longer a shock when we get trounced on the national scene,

          • kcsoonerfan says:

I have a long theory that I won’t bore anyone with about how money has changed the college game and it isn’t about the color of the jersey anymore, or the name of the school, for anyone. The players, the coaches, school admins. As long as the checks don’t bounce everyone is using each other to make more. Switzer did have a passion, he lives to this day with a fire to win. I am not saying Stoops doesn’t want to win, but the definition of winning has changed. Bosworth said being told he was done as a Sooner killed him, he wanted to play another year. Now kids want to get the big contract as soon as they can. That’s the feeling I get from this program, new dorms, new stadium, money in bank accounts is winning.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

You’re right. The game has become a vehicle for all sorts of things. Winning isn’t about wins and losses anymore.

          • blaster1371 says:

Yep, just win enough to keep merchandise selling and butts in the bleachers.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

You could almost see it coming. How many times have we seen this play out now? Unacceptable.

          • Sooner Ray says:

I started pre game, just had a feeling. The strange thing is, I never said a word or showed any emotion the entire game. Just stared at the TV.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

            Eyes glazed over?

          • Sooner Ray says:

Exactly! I felt as if I were actually playing in the game.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

Ahhhhh…..straight scotch will do that ya know!

          • SCKSChief says:

I also sat and stared. Said, “WOW” a few times. Didn’t even tweet angry for the most part. Got a text from a friend that said, “I don’t even know what’s going on right now. Seriously.”

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

Same thing here. Sadly, it just doesn’t sting like it used to.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

Is there such a thing as overpouring after a game like that?

          • leatherneck1061 says:

I haven’t seen her or pitbull on here in months. It’s like the old family almost completely dissolved. Kinda sad.

          • Sooner Ray says:

She posted here some last night.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

We texted on Christmas eve, talked about hating Aggies and decided we’re now a softball school or gymnastics school or something.

You just exposed the fact that all the coaches Bob built his good teams with are long gone. His brother is back of course but the game passed him by long ago.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Good Coaches? Show me one who is a head Coach and is doing well.??? Right thought so Not One! You folks are too gullible….

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Per your other post or the posts above, it might be due to fear of potential health risks. If it isn’t due to health, perhaps he should step down and we get a younger coach who’s a grinder.

  • Coach JK says:

Bob should take a pay cut for his lack of execution!!!!

  • kt-raida says:

    • OohRah Mama says:

To be fair, Bob’s beaten Bama every time. Just sayin’.

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Oh Mama… please when did it matter?? Were their titles involved??? Or was Bama down and we were undefeated in 2002-2003 while they were playing musical chairs with Head Coaches and it still came down to the end both times…Quit being bamboozled!

      • kt-raida says:

Yeah but that’s not they jeep bringing up.just that one time , at the sugar bowl.

  • Super Keith says:

The team looked as interested to be in the game as most fans were watching the game. No passion from the team at all. Kind of a fitting end to a captacular year.

  • KellyB says:

Twice since 2009 OU was pre-season Top 5 and finished the season with 5 losses. Seems we do better when expectations for the season are low (aka last year)

  • OUknowwhatitis says:

Hopefully there will be some serious evals going on starting tonight with the whole football program from scheme/coaches/players/jobs … The only thing that can salvage the night is watching UT tak a serious “L”

  • Hotrod33 says:

If the coaches were as passionate as us fans about changing the face of the program, we would have already fired some of the guys, told them that every job is open and we will be making changes to the schemes in the offense and defense.

  • alouicious says:

hopefully this highlights the problems we’ve had for years with the program… there are about 2-3 games a year where we play with emotion and passion. otherwise, we’re as robotic as our coaches. i love bob, but his legacy is now in serious doubt. the best thing about this year is that they cannot point to our bowl ‘performance’ to provide an excuse for failure. both coordinators have to go —– but bob needs to find legit coaches to replace them. otherwise, we’re texas and he’s mack brown

  • soonersince57 says:

This was so freakin bad. Where do you even begin to clean up this dung heap of a season? Certain coaches need to resign, be reassigned, fired, whatever. Cale, Monty , coach B should be the only ones feeling very good about their job security right now. Stoops better stomp the brakes on this runaway train or he might be looking for a job too

  • Rene Goupillaud says:

After listening to post game, nobody seems terribly unhappy or concerned. That was more disheartening than the game. If you are the OU Qb and tonight doesn’t make you a little upset with yourself after throwing 3 picks, that’s sad. If you’re the head coach and all you can say is we didn’t play well, that’s salad. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect them to be throwing stuff angry, just admit the obvious – you failed.

  • Rene Goupillaud says:

I see that BV hasn’t changed, he can still throw away a shutout.

  • WilliamJack says:

Bob Stoops looked lost and small on TV tonight. Disappearing among the players and staff on the sidelines. The whole night was hard to stomach.

  • beavmiester says:

Just now getting to watch the game. OU is looking terrible in many aspects, but as a silver lining, the run D is looking stout. Unfortunately, the secondary is getting carved up.

  • beavmiester says:

A lot of OU fans didn’t respect Clemson’s defensive ranking since they play in the ACC, but I have to admit, they have fire and attack as an aggressive and cohesive unit. I wish we could see this on our team.

  • Doobie74OU says:

I been staying away all evening but thought I would come ask if anybody knows if Jordan and/or his TV set survived that horrible excuse for a game!

  • Aunum says:

I got Chinese take out just before the game started. It was really good and I was happy again after the first 30 minutes of terrible Sooner football. Maybe that was what helped me start to shake my head the same way the coaches were during the game.

  • JB says:

I hate to say I told you so, but…

Turned out almost exactly the way I thought it would. I knew they’d score in the 40s with a backup QB. I figured we’d only score in the single digits, but thought maybe we might kick 4 FGs…well, make 4 but kick 6.

  • JB says:

WARNING, THE COLD HARD TRUTH FOLLOWS, NO SUNSHINE PUMPING IN THIS POST. NOT SUITABLE READING FOR THE FAINT OF HEART, THE DELUDED, THE STUBBORN, THE OCULARLY CHALLENGED, ETC.:

We need more than to replace an assistant coach or two. Our problems are much deeper than that.

Bob Stoops is the problem. This team’s poor preparation, the lack of all around coaching, the bad and overpaid assistant coaches who populate this staff, the talent dropoff, the poor talent evaluation especially at QB and CB, the bungled game decisions…all of that falls on the head coach not being good enough at his job. He might have been a great coach once. Now, he’s an embarrassment. How many more humiliating bowl losses are we going to endure with this coach? USC, WVU, Boise St, now Clemson? .

Bob was given the keys to a Ferrari and it is performing like a Chevy Cavalier. Unacceptable. Bring in some new blood that hasn’t let the game pass him by.

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

Tell it like it is, and never let them rest! The Coaches, players that fat tub of Lard Boren all need their collective azzes handed to them in the fire..! Some do gooders were embarrassed by Switzer and now we have some Youngstown clueless and washed up head coach who has instilled a satisfied with “better than most” which means “Average” in any language, bestowing that onto Sunshine pumping clueless fans, former players like that Idiot J.D. Runnels who I have never felt the need to even listen to that Stoops backer. He will cover his boy to the end…Also Look at his players. They quit, you can rationalize it all you want. Like I have said countless times on here..If you stand toe to toe with this Stoops version of Oklahoma Football they will eventually “cower” and crawl back into a “fetal” position” I’d trade all of Michigan’s recent down times if we could get a coach like HARBAUGH..!He may get burned out himself after 5 to 10 yrs, But Jim will leave before hurting the program for he is an alumnus and a “Michigan Man” We..well we have a Hawkeye player masquerading as a “King of the Sooner Nation” and you folks bought into this guy “hook line & sinker” This has got to be the most savvy business transaction to have ever Swindled the people of Oklahoma. You all have been bamboozled..When this is over, ask yourself this..Have you received your moneys worth? Or has Bob Stoops?

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

You don’t change coaches unless there is a viable candidate that you think will get more wins and compete on a national level. It’s like quiting a job before you have found another one. Whose your replacement?

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

At the moment given the time frame It would be impossible to say.. Perhaps giving Schiano a call would no hurt..? He better at College than at the pros. reminds me of a young Jimmy Johnson and was an assistant At Miami when they were really good and beating alot of ranked teams home & away. Other than that I’d have to see who might be willing to leave…

        • lebval15 says:

Schiano is a loser. I want an up and coming coach likes stoops was 16 years ago or like Switzer was before him. I don’t want a retread.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

A Loser? Do you think the Pros want Stoops? Any of them? And Lebval do some research son, Schiano fielded better defenses at Miami and better teams than Stoops has did at Florida and at OU. I’d put any of those Great Miami defenses he ran at Miami versus any Stoops Team and MIAMI WOULD WIN 8 out 10 times. Bank oni it!

          • lebval15 says:

Wait so you want to hire Schiano because he was the D coordinator at Miami for 18 months during a time the defense had players like Ed Reed, Dan Morgan, and Jonathan Vilma (none of which he recruited). Heck my little brother could’ve had great defensive coaching numbers with those players. Why don’t you instead focus on his 68-67 coaching record at Rutgers, or his 11-21 record in the NFL. The guy is a below .500 coach. And you want to hire him because he happened to be at Miami at the same time as a bunch of NFL Pro-Bowlers 15 years ago?

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

If he can recruit which he can, and Gerald McCoy even said he taught him more in one training camp more than Stoops & Co. taught him in 4 yrs(one as a redshirt) at OU! And if that does not excite you I’m sorry, better find someone Like the ex- vanderbilt coach and give them the keys then…

  • lebval15 says:

Fire Bob and hire BV…..only half kidding.

  • pag says:

Last year we beat alabama and the coaches still speak of it as if we won the NC , this whole thing is a mentality problem and it Always starts from the top.

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

true pag but do you think stoops is going to all of a sudden “APPEASE His KOOLAID drinking followers after 16 years on the job??? Read my post from about 1 A.M. this morning. FOLKS IN SOONER LAND HAVE BEEN BAMBOOZLED!

  • kt-raida says:

Man last night hurt! But in retrospect that might have been the best thing to happen to this program.this offseason we have no sugar Bowl victory to ride high on all they have is defeat in their mouth Stoops can not ignore the glaring issues anymore changes will be made. I believe key players who might have entered the draft will come back next year. I belive with OU being the biggest disappointment of the college season. We will be a terror on the field with the renewed focus and changes. BOOMER SOONER!

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

KT_Raida I think you don’t know Stoops! He sits in his House Like he’s a king of castle, Literally that dude walks around like he has a crown on his head telling everyone “BY HIS ACTIONS” “I’m the KING” AM I NOT THE KING”! The Sooner he leaves here the better this program will become!

      • kt-raida says:

Castor who would you replace Stoops with? Give me a name and we will compare track records. Stoops is great, there is no denying that. I think Stoops will not throw anyone under the bus in public.

        • CastorTroyBoy says:

LOL…! Sorry mate nothing against you but I will not debate someone who is all for Bob Stoops! I’m not Saying Fire the guy this year. It’s too late sadly! But If changes are not made next year and we don’t win the Big 12 title he needs to be Fired! Castiglione should hire a research team, but first make a list duringg the season of about 5 guys you think are Sooner Worthy and don’t come off like BoB Stoops! Open practices at times, be accessible to the media and fans. Not someone who acts like a decK to them!

  • BR says:

IT BLOWS my mind that with all these back up QB’s (2nd & 3rd stringers) around the country can come in for their teams and perform…respectively and throw an accurate football. But at OU, our starter cant even throw a decent pass……AND!!! if he even gets one near a recievers hands they cant hang on to it. If Josh and Norvell are going to stay on the staff, it should be as QB & WR coaches and nothing more, no more of the double duty BS. Go out and spend some big $ like Michigan did and get a OC that knows what he’s doing

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Sorry Fellas I”M THRU WITH HOW FAR WE STOOPED SO LOW…! I cannot nor will not support this team as it is. Stoops would have to not bring in buddies and bring in people I’d respect on offense and defense to get me to go along with his rebuilding plan….We know Stoops, that is not gonna happen! Why are folks so scared to get rid of this guy??? He did not create OU Football, He merely took advantage of the climate and resources at the time to Swindle Misguided or gullible OU fans who were desperate for anyone to bring them a winning program? These are the same fans who were thrilled when they hired the drunk and boo blake…LOL

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

I know how you folks are…Your hurt and wounded and now your trying to protect Stoops no matter what he does to the OU program because you fear it will just end up worse! I feel sorry for your mindset, and state of affairs then….

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

It’s almost like you have been abused by your abuser but yet you try to protect him..? Fearing the unknown…Or thinking “Maybe I can get him to change”…The meaning of insanity..? Anyone?

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Gonna be a long year nexy season I’m afraid..The message boards are going to be cringe worthy and the media wrangling are going to be brutal. You guys remember Stoops Signing Day news conference from a couple of years ago? Where media attacked for the first time I may add and actually questioned so-called I”m the King Stoops? He got all red faced and it was embarrassing!

  • boomersooner says:

I thought we got of the racist piece of garbage known as castortroyboy. Its tired acts like this that bring a place like this down. No need for some neglected toilet to come here and spew trash over and over and over. I’m sure if you took a vote, 90% would vote to get rid of him and I’m lowballing

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Your attacks on me dude will not sway me! I am a Sooner Forever and Just because “I’m not your kind of version of Sooner” means nothing to me. I live in Houston, proud to say I’m a Spencer Tillman fan for Life! He’s earned that respect. The only you have done is attacked me for spelling out the truth of realities ans Me, Spencer T. and other football Alums I respect have done. Sorry that your hopes were destroyed last night. Perhaps,You “Hitched your Star to the wrong Saddle” son…..

    • boomersooner says:

Well, bubba, first off I ain’t your son. Bubba, you can make a point without being redundant, bubba. We’re tired of your act bubba. Amscray bubba
