Actually got asked to leave a bar in Columbus, Ohio because I was being “too loud”. So I may have yelled at the TV. So there may have been kids there. Sooooo……why would a parent take a kid to a bar? The Sooners were on….what was I supposed to do?
I predict that you will see a win. We flew down last season to Perine’s game against Kansas. Coldest I have ever been in my life. All the rain had us soaked through. Actually said to a cop “if you get a call about a weirdo hanging out in the mens room it’s just me trying to get warm”. The bathrooms are heated. He laughed. We try to make a home game each year. This year I got busy and didn’t make it. Safe travels to you sir!
That was my 12 year olds first game too! He loved it too! God I was miserable! I’m up north so cold doesn’t bother me so much. I’ve been to OSU-Michigan when my car doors froze shut. But that game in OK during that downpour was MISERABLE! Seeing a record set helped but good Lord! I could have cut glass with my nipples during that game. Too much info, I know.
Yep. Ol Oaksie was rather quiet tonight was he not? And their nickel Blanchard was right … they did shut us out … give or take 44 points, but who’s counting? 🙂
Really impressed by the team’s poise. Just when Baylor gained momentum, Baker led the O to a score and the D stopped a very potent offense. What a great all-around win.
My only question is still a) why does Shep handle punt returns and b) never has anyone blocking for him to actually make a return?!?
Yeah I wish we could get the coaches thought process on that. In years past, our punt return team always posed a threat to score, not anymore…wonder why the change in philosophy.
I just want to say that I said controlling the LOS was crucial. OUr D controlled the LOS almost all night long! Diron deserves a raise. The DB’s played pretty good and about 10,000% better than they had in the past. Cooks deserves a raise!
If you only think the DB’s played “pretty good” then imho you are very much underestimating the speed and overall talent of Baylor’s receivers. They are ridiculously good, and they were blanketed most of the time. Many plays where 4 and 3 guys got to the qb because no one was open
I needed this. My birthday is tomorrow…..well, in 45 minutes. I shudder to think what kind of birthday it would have been if we had another showing like last year. Depressing as hell.
If Russell played, I’m not sure how confident I would be with our win chances. That said, the defense surprised me. There were some stretches where they pkayed great. They did a good job bottling up Linwood for most of the game. On a down note, they gave up too many points, and the stupid mistakes and penalties could’ve cost us the game. That lack of discipline…I found troubling.
The offense was terrific. I loved the game plan. Perine had to be involved and he was in a big way. Baker Mayfield is a joy to watch play and I never get sick of seeing his confidence after a bad play like the INT. He wasn’t the least bit fazed and finished like a champion. I love it! Thanks again, Kliffy K!
Overall, how can you not be satisfied with a road win over a top 10 team? Very happy tonight
Fumbles suck but aren’t always within your control. I’m talking about the loss of control of their emotions leading to BU first downs or cost us field position, and one that led to a player ejection. That is within our control and should not happen. I have a feeling Bob’s going to be spending time in practice on that this week and some guys will be running stadium steps.
I’m thrilled by the win. I can’t say “Suck it, Briles!” enough. Can’t stand that cheating douche.
Yards mean little compared to points. Last time I checked, the scoreboard is for points scored not yards.
And yeah, it rubs me wrong when our players do stupid, undisciplined things that cost defensive stops and lead to opponent points. Dimon was an embarrassment. His actions on the field, and his classless tirade dropping f-bombs at Baylor fans walking off the field. I expect better from OU, and I guarantee you Bob does too.
I’m quite happy with the game, and described that as well, but I suppose some people read only what they want to read.
You mentioned giving up too many pts, that’s why I mentioned yards and points. Our D was awesome! Maybe Bob isn’t too happy with Dimon, but I’m sure he got over it pretty damn quick. Just enjoy the damn win without any qualifiers. Dimon is human, he used profanity. Big deal.
I didn’t think he had a great game before the pick. Wasn’t terrible, but he missed some tackles, and appeared to be out of position a couple of times. He has played MUCH better this season, but I think his is the next defensive backfield position to upgrade. Hopefully Haughton can give him some competition next year.
They should be looking at Baker for the Heisman! He’s the best QB in the country and his numbers show it. We are really going to tear up TCU next , and then it’s on to bedlam where OSU was 3 minutes away from losing to Iowa State today. Our future is bright!!
I think thats why they put the stats comparing him to J. White and Sammy B. on at the end of the broadcast. They were waiting to see how game unfolded, and then once it looked like OU had it locked, they showed that metric…essentially launching him into the debate.
I seen Tapper Parker Baker and obviously Sanchez all banged up…oh and Andrews when he dropped that second td…Mixon took head shot to the worst part of the helmet as well…nothing major though..they all finished the game
By the way, after that TD to Flowers, are those of you who get irked when Baker won’t throw it away still irked? Baker is an improvisor and a winner. Winners always think they can make a play. That’s Baker. And for every time you can point to a play where you think he should’ve thrown it away, I could probably find 3 where he turned a throw away into a positive gain or score. His game does not frustrate me one iota. He has his own Sooner Magic.
Ugh. You are the second person to say this. I don’t recall seeing anybody say they want Mayfield to throw away balls like that. The only plays I’ve seen questioned are when he is going out of bounds, especially for a loss, and refuses to throw the ball away to a) avoid unnecessary hits, and b) not lose 2 yards. Nobody wants him to stop doing the other stuff.
You should read the board more closely then. I’ve seen plenty of people say he needs to get rid of the ball when the play is not there. He makes his own plays lime tonight.
I say it at times, when he is running by the sideline about to get popped. But it’s not like I say he needs to do it all the time. He actually did it once tonight and got a 15 yard penalty against the dirtiest team in the big xii.
I’ll take the occasional negative play with Baker trying to improvise. The positives far outweigh any negatives. I hate to see some of hits he takes, but that’s football.
The offensive line was huge tonight. Made holes when we needed them and was physical from the get go. Got to give Coach B a bunch of credit by getting these guys ready.
After OSWho struggled (again) at Iowa State I am starting to thing their great game against TCU was anomaly. Look at the rest of OSU’s games and they have NOT looked good. Combine that with Boykin’s sprained ankle and I see us very likely winning out.
Art Briles is whining that his QB got hurt on the first series and was not “feeling” well the rest of the game. WAAAAAAH The wambulance will pick you up in 5!
Oh dang. I didn’t expect that with OSU winning. Awesome news, though that will make for late drive back to Tulsa for this old man. Can’t think of a better way to finish the home schedule though.
Yup. Should be fine unless we beat ourselves. DL gets to hobbled Boykin, it could be long night for the Frogs. He definitely is the engine that makes that offense go.
I have pulled my Semi along side the Church before, put up the Satellite Dish, and enjoyed the game with the men during evening celebrations. I did not enjoy the discussion with my wife on the way home.
I don’t even know what to say right now so I am taking up this time and space to let everybody know. Great poise and perseverance by Baker and the entire offense to come up with answers. Great overall by the defense to make plays when it counted and take the “numbers” game out of the equation. A valiant and spirited effort spearheaded by great team leaders and a team with dangerous chemistry that can come together turn up the intensity when it is most needed. Boomer.
College football has to do something about this. I know if a team wants to really fake it, and they have players smart enough to do it as soon as a play is over it’ll be hard to spot, but what Baylor did tonight is a travesty of the game.
I think he might have hurt himself diving to the ground. They had him on the trainer’s table looking at his leg afterwards…and, he was pretty woozy in appearance leaving the field. I’m thinking an Oscar nomination might be in order.

I would not argue against this statement. When you need clutch, look to Shep. When you need assurance, look to Shep. When you don’t have a Shep, look to Shep.
I would have to give Tapper a game ball for the way he has played these last 3 weeks. He is a man on a mission. He is just terrorizing olineman and taking their names along the way.
Pretty good when players spend their OV just to watch you on the road but I think you’re right. We were supposedly ahead for Horton before we laid the smack down tonight.
A whole lot better than last year, thank goodness. Could’ve done without the players losing their cool and making costly penalties. But I get to say, “suck it, Briles!” I cannot stand that douche. Very, very happy!
Completely agree. Stanford went down tonight, so we need to keep winning (most important) and get a little luck with Stanford beating Notre Dame and our chances would look pretty decent…..SOONER!
I’m wondering if “those people” on these boards who have been doubting OU all season are finally convinced? Geez…two game left in the season and maybe they finally believe in these young men and their coaches. smdh #beatthefrogs
Love how hot the team is right now, peaking at the perfect time. 3 (hopefully 4) games against the top teams in the country and we might be celebrating #8!
Well, i only got a little under 5 hrs sleep after working a 16.5 hr shift, and I just came off working 13 of the last 14 days (yeah…I’m searching for sympathy…lol), so I’m going to hit the hay but with a big poop-eating grin on my face. Enjoy the night, Sooners! Good night.
I said it below but I think this team wins out. I don’t know if that means a playoff birth or not. That all depends on the committee and who knows where their heads are at. Much depends on the remaining schedule for the other teams as well. Will tOSU get by MSU and Michigan? They’ve been far from dominant. Then there’s ND making it by Stanford even though Stanford lost tonight. I don’t know if the committee snubs the Big12 two years in a row. I think that erodes their credibility if OU wins out beating three undefeated teams to close out the regular season. Time will tell. I, personally, think that OU would beat anyone right now. Some of that is beer talking. Some of it is adrenaline from tonight. But this team is playing complete football right now. And there is no conference that plays offense like the Big12. No better offenses in the country and no defenses out of conference prepared to defend these attacks. My two cents.
I like your two cents. I would be surprised if tOSU gets by both the Michigan schools unscathed. They have been living on the edge in a lot of games against so-so competition. ND losing to Stanford would be a major help, because the committee will probably give a one-loss Notre Dame the slot above us (don’t agree with it, but reality). I love the feeling with this team, and I think it would take a hell of a team to beat us right now. Hoping we keep up the intensity and great play, win out, and force the committee into a decision. Either way, da*n proud of OUr Sooners!
Me too! ND may get the benefit of the doubt but I just feel like out last three games set us up to be the spoiler. I’ve been wrong many times before. Like when I thought the Flowbee would take off. But this just feels right.
ESPIN made the point this AM that since the loss in Dallas, OU has had more yards and scored more than anybody. That fact should bode well with the committee
don’t forget about Iowa. Either Mich state or TOSU will likely play them in the ccg and they’re undefeated right now…btwn that and ND to see if we get a playoff shot with 1 loss…I suppose anything can happen in the ACC and SEC as well.. it’ll be an exciting last few weeks of the season thats for sure
I agree, But I don’t see Iowa winning out. I think they’re a good team but they could lose at any time. Either way your points are well taken. If we hadn’t lost that one headscratcher of a game this wouldn’t even be a conversation. But we did so we need some help.
Iowa is terrible. We would destroy them. They are the same team that Blake Bell ran up the middle on all night long in insight bowl. They’re the same team. Iowa, what a joke!
— randomn…..
— listened mostly to the radio broadcast and the sideline guys remarked several times of the intensity of the coaches and players throughout the game…..congrats to this team and the fight/spirit they had and needed for 4 quarters, in the rain!!
— good for ahmad thomas on the oskie……a lot of criticism his way for a long time but that was a big play and good for him
— mikey stoops down on the field after the game with a big smile and celebrating with the team and ou fans
— nice to see dmitri flowers getting a role in the offense and some very big plays when we wondered if he even had a role in this o when the season started
— hate bu but that’s a good team and hard to beat esp there……in fairness, outcome might be different if russell could play but stidham’s going to be good
— having tipped my hat to bu, screwem’……could have been worse if not for some over-zealous play with penalties and a couple of missed opportunities
— my fear was could we run….good job by oline
— game balls for every ou player tonite and the entire coaching staff……..add the ou fans who made the trip………radio guys remarked you could hear them roar from the upper deck in support
And the OOC games for Baylor taught them how to, well, nothing…it taught them nothing, so they had no clue how to play when challenged. Especially late in a game.
Young man. A little overly emotional in the moment. He played a solid game overall and helped to spring Perine on his long run. He kept Oakman from being a factor, so I’ll take one moment of excessive nasty.
He didn’t seem to be very fond of #2, did he?
I saw Bedenbaugh on Coaches Corner the other night and he was talking about Brown and how he had to calm him down some, as he kept blocking a guy into the bench when the whistle had blown last week.
Chris Plank said it reminded him of Michael Oher in Blind Side.
I think I only recall Oakman getting pressure that one time when he disrupted the Mixon run to the outside…seen him holding his hand later in the game…Brown must have gave him all he wanted…Brown is getting better and better…with him and Samia we look good for the future…might have some good ones in Evans and Frison as well… we will see but I like how they line is getting better and better
Just enjoying the warm, comfortable sensation of a great day of wins.
My old high school won their tough bi-district playoff game this afternoon, then my beloved Sooners made the day complete.
A number of kids OU is after got to see some real OU football. Betting it made an impression on some who will be in Norman next Saturday for ‘November to Remember – Part Deux’.
Patterson said he “thinks” Boykin will play… but ankle injuries are rough, even a slight sprain could be dangerous for the kid. I hope he is healthy, but I also hope he isnt 100%…. Im probably going to hell…. I had thought Doctson out for the season???
I disagree. Not after controlling a top 10 team and 4 teams in front of us falling. 7 would be the lowest if they don’t want to jump us over undefeated OSU.
I would call myself “concerned” but its fun to dream EasTex… Gotta hope the guys show up against TCU and continue to put Little Brother in their place…
Im thinking Lil Bro gets 5 or 6 depending on how the committee sees Iowa… then its OU. No way they let us jump OSU and Iowa with the tough games ahead still…
Barry used to always say that the Texsa game determined who got the shot at a national championship run…Would have never thunk it could happen to the team that LOST that game. Embarrassment is a strong motivator.. Must keep focus though. One. Game. At. A. Time.
And while bama is playing mighty charleston southern, espn and the football pundits will be whining about the Big 12’s soft OOC schedule. The irony, they shall not see it.
and rightfully so. Honestly I hope they move us to 7 or 8 and no higher… these boys are playing like they have something to prove…they do. A bump too big could cause complacency… I dont think it will, but it could.
I don’t disagree, except I believe the team is set and have that winning attitude and goal in mind. The committee didn’t give much love to the aggies after beating TCU. Barely scratching one out in Ames can’t be any better. #beatthefrogs
BIG 12 is not going to get very much love in the polls tomorrow and Tuesday, unfortunately. Jury was out on Baylor due to their weak schedule so far. TCU struggled after Boykin’s injury to take barely care of Kansas and OSU pulled a win out of their butts. But, loved what I saw from OU today and would put them up against anyone in the country, rankings be damned.
One thing though… Oklahoma is a big name in the CFB world and will receive the benefits as such. The CFB world just feels better when teams like OU are playing championship football.
I want the rematch in the title game. I don’t see Clemson dropping out of the 1 spot if they keep playing the way they have been. Do you think it’s realistic that Oklahoma can reach the #3 spot instead of the 4?
Well, the #6, 7, 9, and 10 teams lost. So by default OSU moves to 6 and OU to 8. But I would think OU would hop Florida to #7. I’d be a little surprised if OU ends up higher than that. But TCU will be back to borderline top 10, and I think OSU will handle Baylor at home. Things are shaping up nicely for us.
Baylor is better than OSU but the game is in Stillwater and we might have taken the starch out of the bears. Normally I wouldnt even flinch and Id pick Baylor but this game could go either way.
Hero of the game for me was Kerry Cooks, and here’s why:
There was one point in the game on a 3rd down where I watched Zach Sanchez flag down the corners on the other side of the field and told them to switch the way they were lined up. Immediately they did, and the nickel went into bump/run and locked onto the slot receiver, while the outside corner dropped back and in…like a safety. The bump of the inside receiver disrupted the crossing pick play and both receivers were nullified off the LOS, and the result was a busted play and the defense got off the field. That, to me, was BY FAR the most impressive thing I saw tonight. Beautiful example of communication, film study, and technique to get off the field on a 3rd down.
The d-line stopping the run was fantastic, too. But when I saw the above play happen, it’s the first time in a LONG time that I felt confident that we’d win a close game against a high-powered offense. I got chills.
That’s very cool. But I would say, the thing that was best about this game was the physicality of the Sooners. And the hero there, is none other than Shake and Bake. That sideline scrape with those big ol mean bears and Mayfields in their face challenging them. The whole team fed off that stuff. Baker is one of a kind and I’m not sure we’ve ever had one with his Moxy and the position. He punished them on the ground too. Kid loves contact. Fires him the f*ck up! Rock on Baker!
Yeah, lots of kudos to go around. Baker took it to another level, of course. But we’ve seen that out of him several times this year…so I wasn’t as surprised at that as I was with the secondary.

OU will gain ground this week on Ohio State and Bama. But no worries, the Tide will have a chance to impress the cabal with their game next Saturday against Charleston Southern Comfort.
we got sucker punch in that first drive and then we did all of the punching. Thought at times we got cute trying to be pass happy when we just needed to run off tackle. They were coming on 1st down from the edges and if we go off tackle, we are good. DL was just off the charts and MS had a great game plan
Pulling for you guys.
My old school draws South Oak Cliff for the second year in a row and play at Desoto. At least they don’t have 13 D1 commits this year.
Oh, do they always call the game they are at for GameDay? They didn’t used to, but I haven’t been paying attention this year. Doubt they called the James Madison/Richmond game.
Hi Everyone. I’m a long-time follower of this board, and Sooner fan since the early 70s. Love the discussion on this board so thought I would finally join in. Great win last night. Props to Riley and M.Stoops for a great gameplan. For me, I think the biggest key to the game was the D-line being able to stop the run without needing to load the box and have safeties coming up in run support. People always criticize the the gameplan but a lot of it is talent. And we now have the talent on the D-line to handle the run and let the D-backs shut down the pass.
I’m giving a ball to Coach Reynolds, too, for having his guys well coached so that they could play w/ 4 and 5 and drop 6 and 7, including LBs, into coverage. And still stop the run. Stidham had no place to throw.
Seemed like we did some adjusting to stop the run in the second half. They were eating us up in the first and then we gobbled them up nearly every time in the second. Great defense. I love the agressive, physical play. Why can’t I spell agressive?
Nice to see OU get some love on espn… been some time. They even have Baker in the top 4 in Heisman race. 🙂 Must continue to roll boys… I absolutely LOVED the players’ interviews last night on the Sooner Radio Show. It was all already moving focus to TCU. Several kept saying it… “this was nice, but we got to move on to TCU tomorrow morning.” That is just one thing that separates this team, from some of our more recent ones…. Attitude, and motivation. Let’s get it!
Bob and the other coaches have the team focused in a way we haven’t seen in a few years. Show up each week, do work, celebrate for the day/night, and move on to the next one. What a fun team to watch the last 5 weeks.
Bob and the other coaches, absolutely, but I think we can add Baker into this as well. He is just another type of cat, and one with a type of leadership that we have not seen in some time. The players are certainly feeding off of one Mr. Mayfield.
If you watch the wrap-up video linked at the top of the article, Striker, Bond, and Gundy do a nice job of messing with Baker during an after the game, on-the-field interview. Pretty funny.
So very pleased with how the Sooners played last night and yet there is still room for improvement. If they ever play a “perfect” game I can’t begin to imagine how devastating they might be.
Can you imagine if they hadn’t had those costly personal foul penalties? It was great to see them play with some nastiness, but need to keep it in check.
Wonder if Baylor fans will start complaining about their injured players, frosh QB, etc
Yes! I loved the attitude and nastiness. Was perfectly fine with that 1st personal foul, strategic even…second one not so much, but still proving a point… the third though, man by that time they should have just been totally focused on playing a smart game. But, what a performance!
So many “what ifs.”
What if Baker had thrown to a wide open Perine for a 1st down instead of the deep ball he threw…or if Perine had gotten by that ankle tackle at the 32…or-or-or-
This game could have easily been put away in the 3rd qtr. As much as they have improved week by week, they could be terrific the rest of the way.
I thought it was a leg cramp and he was trying to straighten his leg out and it happened to hit a face mask. I’m sure Bob Stoops was telling him to stay hydrated on the sideline. Not really. There was no backdown last night.
I agree. Baylor obviously came in trying to intimidate OU and get in our heads. We gave it right back and let them know right off the bat that we werent going to back down at all.
180 degree turn from the team we saw last year that all but gave up against Baylor and Clemson. This team has a ton of fight and moxy. I attribute a lot of that to Mayfields attitude.
Good morning, my friend. I was looking for you last night. I hope I didn’t wake you up with all of the yelling.
If they continue to play the way they are playing, this team will continue to get better. I posted last night that this is the mark of a great team: they overcome adversity. The best part is that they are young and making young mistakes. But I like the challenges they are creating: it should remind them that they are not perfect. That should be a motivator.
None-the-less, I love this team and I love our chances. Just win out.
Coach Harper is a smart man. Reading this quote tells me all I need to know. There are great coaches and there are great leaders. This man is a great leader, which is far more impressive.
In regards to Haller’s ability to throw the ball, he said, “The guy is an all-district catcher and you don’t think he can throw the football? He can throw the baseball and he can throw the football just fine,” Harper said of his quarterback.
Harper was a Mav QB back in the early 90’s and his Dad was an assistant there.
I first started hearing about Haller when he was a freshman tearing it up, many thought he should have been brought up then. He was the district newcomer of the year in baseball his freshman year.
Too bad we don’t play any defense, right? And man, Notre Dame looks impenetrable.
Yards Per play allowed this season:
Oklahoma 4.2 (tied for 3rd nationally)
Notre Dame 5.3 (tied for 50th)
I literally got confused because I couldn’t find Notre Dame because they were so far down the list. We are obviously better on offense than Notre Dame also. So… what’s the deal committee?
I know I’m jumping the gun. By the end of the year I can’t imagine a 1-loss OU being behind a 1-loss Notre Dame but I don’t trust the committee. Either way Stoops and Co. are doing their part and I’m really proud of them.
We need to continue to build on the depth on the DLine recruited by Monty. D Reynolds needs to get some studs in here to complement what we have already
I agree. But I think Reynolds is going to have to measured as a recruiter next year because there is so much young talent on the DL right now. If he can just pull one or two studs this year that would be fantastic. Next year he will need to really pull in a good class and reload.
Is Tapper the only senior on Dline? If so, we are absolutely stacked next few years. But I certainly agree, and if the D keeps playing like this, they no doubt will get some more studs coming in.
I believe so. Next year OU needs to replace Tapper, Bond and Striker.. So in comes Overton, Gallimore, Lampkin. Then Evans, Bolton, DeBerry, and McGinnis. OU is just re-loading.
Did anybody else see Bond line up at d tackle? There was one play when Baylor was hurrying, and Bond lined up at tackle, and I think it was Tapper at DE..Then, Stidham paused and looked to sideline, and Bond and Tapper switched back real fast.
Is this something they do from time to time to combat hurry up (essentially just get lined up)? Or were they just playing mind games? I don’t recall seeing that before..
I think they thought the ball would be hiked and had to get bodies somewhere. Mike Stoops preached all week that they had to be in position to stop the run so they were just trying to get in a spot
Reading in a Waco paper this morning that Briles is saying that they still have a shot at co-conference champion. I thought I read earlier this week that the Big 12 had corrected that “co-champion” stuff? Anyone know what the facts are on that?
To win the league they really only need us to lose once and then take care of their own business. But to get in the playoffs they need quite a few contenders to lose again.
A lot of the problems with the Big XII’s national image was the fact that it was being dominated by Baylor, a team who plays no one out of conference and doesn’t win bowl games. Dethroning Baylor is good for the conference as a whole. Props to our conference members who aren’t afraid to schedule good teams (OU, Texsa, WV, Tech, and TCU).
It was nice to see Stidham get punished last night. It doesn’t get any easier in the future. He has a veteran line in front of him this year. Reshuffle next year.
Much admiration and appreciation to the defense and the coaches.
Watching baylor burn almost all of the play clock to run a play instead of the 19 seconds between snaps average was a thing of beauty.
Mike dialed up a great plan, the players bought in and executed wonderfully.

I dont think so… I think ejections only go for the current game unless they happen in the 2nd half. Also, ejections can be appealed and reviewed by the league office… in which case the argument could be made that the “kick” was not intentional (or at least not malicious, as I thought he was rolled over and just trying to get flipped back upright).
Isn’t it the current half and the next half? In his case, he was ejected in the first half so I think he’d be out the first and second halves of Baylor and could play next week. (Had he been ejected the second half of Baylor he’d have to sit out the first half of TCU.)
Having said that, BS might have something more serious in store for him. (And I may not have this suspension rule correct.)
I hope we are out there looking at every high school, ranch, farm, orchard for the next Ripkowski. Where do you find these kids? Power lifters? Wrestlers? We need a couple. I would love to see an up-tempo fat boy fleet.
Awesome game awesome atmosphere. Our crowd was never quiet and really backed our team up through the whole game. For only having 40k seating, that stadium was pretty loud. Time to take care of business this week.
Tooting my own horn here. Called this one pretty close. I said 48-35 and it was 44-34. I said three pics and a fumble recovery. We had 2 and 1. Knew this one was going to be physical and Baker Mayfield got the whole thing rolling with that out of bounce roughing jump in the big bears face bravado. Shake and Bake on brother! That’s Sooner football!!!!
Depends on if Boykin starts or not. Either way, I think we win by a couple of touchdowns if we bring the same attitude back home to Norman we took to Waco.
Missed this celebration thread because I was too tired after “couch coaching” my Sooners to victory! Thanks to all my fellow Sooners for their unified spirit! Oh and one last thanks to Steph Dale for being wrong as usual.

YES!
If you could somehow shop Baker in place of the hulk that would be amazeballs.
Best EVER.
Mike…he deserves it…you could tell he was happy on the field after the game..had a chick under each arm even….#rockstar.n
Weren’t those his daughters?
I don’t know…still thought it was funny
Yea he was living it up.. Looked like one was wife, other daughter.
Hoisting a beer to Mike! He and his defense got it done tonight.
Heck ya
SOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! So pumped up!!!
Dude!!! F uuuuuuu ***((( yeah!!!!
LOL!!
Well, er … uh, … i get weird after 13 beers … sorry …
OK … okay … just geezus … okay … I’m all effin excited about this win. You’re unbelievable!!!!
Great game!! Best in awhile! I really love the chemistry of this team!
So glad I was right for a change!!
said it once already , but – Baylor was tougher than I expected but that’s good (now )
Makes us look better 🙂
they were fired up to prove themselves… To bad… Weighed, Measured… Found Wanting and all that
They were tough but OU helped them a lot. That the mark of a GREAT team to continuously overcome set backs.
yeah without the BS penalties and with some of the no-calls on targeting… this may well have been a blowout
I get what you are saying about the dumb penalties, but it almost seemed like that was the mindset we needed to beat that team.
They are a good team. I just shook my head when I read the posts calling for OU to blow them out. On the road. That’s a good win.
BOOMER SOONER!
You know who keeps making big plays lately? Dmitri Flowers! He is impressing me.
He went Full Millard tonight
The same thought crossed my mind. It was like a light went off and he suddenly realized he could out-muscle people, just like Trey used to do.
Great…now we’re gonna have to hear whining about “why don’t they target him more.” 🙂
He needs more touches.
Agreed. You sure say alot that I agree with. 🙂
Loved that last touchdown! Great improvisation by Flowers and Mayfield on that play.
Man, I loved all of them but that was sweet!
Added a couple years to my life seeing us go up by 10!
Gee, I wonder if it made a difference that we had Shep this year…:-)
Actually got asked to leave a bar in Columbus, Ohio because I was being “too loud”. So I may have yelled at the TV. So there may have been kids there. Sooooo……why would a parent take a kid to a bar? The Sooners were on….what was I supposed to do?
You live in Columbus. I’m in Akron. I will be at the game next weekend.
Dayton here. I think I heard the yelling from Columbus. Sam, you need to be a bit louder; couldn’t hear you.
Yes. That should have been a blowout. I can’t complain too much about the officiating but they missed some calls.
OU earned most of their calls.
Yep. But I loved the we’re not backing down. I love this team’s attitude.
I will be in Columbus next weekend. We’ve gotta meet up for beers.
Where?
At the Shoe.
Believe me, nothing is as scenic as PARMA!
Cool! Give’m hell.
went to that game as well. crazy downpour. I thought my 6-year-old would have hated it but loved his first game.
LOL, seeing the record certainly made it worth it. I can’t imagine that freeze game. No thank you, haha!
LOL! Reading the OU “beat” writers eating crow on twitter is fantastic. IDIOTS!
Dean Blevins will struggle to write a bad article now.
Heart is still pounding!! Bad for old dude, but BOOOMER!!! I think Oakman was crying like a little girl!!
🙂
SOONER!
Ef Oakman! Dirty player.
We did. That big punk is hurt! Too bad. So sad.
Yep. Ol Oaksie was rather quiet tonight was he not? And their nickel Blanchard was right … they did shut us out … give or take 44 points, but who’s counting? 🙂
I’m glad espn’s game day got to see this up close and personal.
Been awhile since OU was all over SportsCenter
Time of possession.. OU 35 min..Baylor 25 minutes.
Really impressed by the team’s poise. Just when Baylor gained momentum, Baker led the O to a score and the D stopped a very potent offense. What a great all-around win.
My only question is still a) why does Shep handle punt returns and b) never has anyone blocking for him to actually make a return?!?
Baker should now be in the Heisman talks.
Couldn’t agree more
He’ll be in the top 5 this week. Don’t know if ESPN will let Henry or Fournette lose it though.
I think Henry will win…Baker should be right in the mix though
I say give it to him now if we can trade them a Bama loss.
I’d take that.
Maybe they will split the SEC votes and Baker takes the trophy…kinda like Jason taking ADs votes
Did you notice that? On a couple of the punts, 10 OU players just stopped and stood still. Never seen that before.
They did it a ton against KU.
About the only time they went back in coverage, the ball plunked off one of their helmets. Maybe standing around is a better idea!
Yeah I wish we could get the coaches thought process on that. In years past, our punt return team always posed a threat to score, not anymore…wonder why the change in philosophy.
Man the piggies dominated LSU and they lost to like our 6th or 7th best team. Bwwwaaaahahahahahaha……yuk, yuk 😉
Offensive Line!!!
I just want to say that I said controlling the LOS was crucial. OUr D controlled the LOS almost all night long! Diron deserves a raise. The DB’s played pretty good and about 10,000% better than they had in the past. Cooks deserves a raise!
We all deserve raises! whew!
If you only think the DB’s played “pretty good” then imho you are very much underestimating the speed and overall talent of Baylor’s receivers. They are ridiculously good, and they were blanketed most of the time. Many plays where 4 and 3 guys got to the qb because no one was open
LOL! I was being a bit sarcastic with that statement.
Ahh! I see. Ok then, never mind.
No worries. I keep forgetting to put my /s on those statements.
Time for SS.tv for postgame, enjoy fold and BOOMER SOONER!!!
I have the worst headache ever. I yell loud.
This is the Thank You Kliff Kingsbury post. Thank you for beings an A**! THANK YOU!
OMGoodness. YES!!! times 1000
Maybe we should pass around a card to mail to him! LOL
Anyone afford to fly a banner over their next home game?
Now that would be classic!
Bet we could put a crowd source fund together for the fly over at tech tech game. You got my $20!
I am there, apply signature and a nice little note of gratitude.
When it started raining I knew Perine would have a good day!!
I needed this. My birthday is tomorrow…..well, in 45 minutes. I shudder to think what kind of birthday it would have been if we had another showing like last year. Depressing as hell.
Dude, happy birthday!!!
Thank you sir!
Happy Birthday.
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!! Nice way to start off the celebration.
Happy birthday!
Threw that bear off OUr back finally!!!
Dude, honestly Baylor’s signs on the gameday set were weak…
horribly.
8 out of 15 Baylor drives ended in punts or turnovers in 3 plays or less. That’s damn good defense.
No complaints from me. Our defense played a great game against a tough offense, and made big plays when we needed them. Great all-around win!
Matched their season total.
FREAKING AWESOME! Fire Mike Stoops! LOL
BOOOOOOOMER!!!!!!!
SOOOOOONER!!!!!!!!!!
Defensive line played great!!! Shout out to Coach Reynolds, Tap, Romar, Walker, Wade.
This deserves repeating: Unless Toby missed something, Coleman, Mr. 20 Touchdowns, caught 3 passes. Wow.
Corey Coleman had 3 catches for 51 yards. Thanks Jordan Thomas and Co.
Even better NO TOUCHDOWNS!
JT stud
Unbelievable performance by that young man! Couldn’t be much happier with the defense in this game.
Averaging 147 yards….
Didn’t Coleman have some streak of TD receptions in every game?
Yep, 14 straight or something like that.
Baylor had that home win streak too
Great point!
Perine made a statement from the beginning.
#still20freakingtouchdowns
And he still hasn’t gotten a single one against a team with a winning record this season.
Would like to play a clean game, but remember all the fumbles during the wishbone days? Just score and win.
Lol. We held them nearly 200 yards below their average total yards and 26 points under their average and still bitching. Lol.
Big deal.
OK, I admit … I’ve been a huge critic of Ahmad Thomas. He sure came up big at the end!
He was kicking butt most of the game. Doing just what he was supposed to do.
I didn’t think he had a great game before the pick. Wasn’t terrible, but he missed some tackles, and appeared to be out of position a couple of times. He has played MUCH better this season, but I think his is the next defensive backfield position to upgrade. Hopefully Haughton can give him some competition next year.
Me too. But I will take it back.
He did…..but I take back nothing.
How about you take it back for at least a week?
done……and boomer sooner
They should be looking at Baker for the Heisman! He’s the best QB in the country and his numbers show it. We are really going to tear up TCU next , and then it’s on to bedlam where OSU was 3 minutes away from losing to Iowa State today. Our future is bright!!
If he plays like he has, and OU wins the next two games, he’ll be in NY.
He is and his confidence is contagious amongst that team
I think thats why they put the stats comparing him to J. White and Sammy B. on at the end of the broadcast. They were waiting to see how game unfolded, and then once it looked like OU had it locked, they showed that metric…essentially launching him into the debate.
And when he wins he can thank Kliffy boy for being a jerk.
Yep. We need a “thank you pretty boy” Kliffy thread.
A new thread to abuse yes!!!!!
Any idea on injuries?
Baylor’s collective butt holes!!!
Yes, an epidemic of posterior pain was just set loose in Waco!
Suck it, Briles!
I say it at times, when he is running by the sideline about to get popped. But it’s not like I say he needs to do it all the time. He actually did it once tonight and got a 15 yard penalty against the dirtiest team in the big xii.
I was hollering at him to throw it away all night… only to be like, “or you could throw/run for a first down/TD”…. Armchair quarterbacks… lol
Even when he is sitting in a clean pocket? I doubt anybody wants him tossing that ball out of bounds.
I did have one question for you.
What should Briles do?
I’ll take the occasional negative play with Baker trying to improvise. The positives far outweigh any negatives. I hate to see some of hits he takes, but that’s football.
Amen, brother!
Flowers is an unsung hero. Great hands. Last week and this week.
Dline went into another world tonight. I believe we could win it all this year….but next year I”ll bet money.
#SuckItBriles
Wish all yall were here right now
I’m sure the SOONER fans are enjoying it.
Man the Jack went down so much easier after that win!
Who wants some now!!!! We might be the hottest team in the country.
Might? We are the hottest team in the country PERIOD!!!!
C-H-E-M-I-S-T-R-Y
The offensive line was huge tonight. Made holes when we needed them and was physical from the get go. Got to give Coach B a bunch of credit by getting these guys ready.
After OSWho struggled (again) at Iowa State I am starting to thing their great game against TCU was anomaly. Look at the rest of OSU’s games and they have NOT looked good. Combine that with Boykin’s sprained ankle and I see us very likely winning out.
I’m calling it here. OUr team will win out! Don’t know if we’ll make it to the playoff or not. But this team will win out.
https://twitter.com/ou_football/status/665762575737487360
Is Bob Irish
No. He’s Ohioan.
What a night!!!! S.D. posting doom and gloom tonight couldn’t spoil my evening. BOOMER!!
by the way..did ‘he who must not be named’ and picked Baylor by 2 or was it 3 TDs and said he would be here for his braised crow….Oh Stephen!!!
He popped in on the game thread and ate his crow.
Glad to hear it..since he isn’t around to celebrate…big Sooner fan that he is. /s
He picked them by 21.
He never shows after a win.
Art Briles is whining that his QB got hurt on the first series and was not “feeling” well the rest of the game. WAAAAAAH The wambulance will pick you up in 5!
dude is a wuss
I wonder what he had to say about the phony injury late in the game on the DB.
Somebody should have ask if he was ok or would there be an amputation
Herbie nailed him on that little fake on national tv!
Truly in character for the Briles bunch.
I guess he is still looking for tradition and history.
Hey, Art!!!
Of course the small town, scumbag, sheriff is going to make excuses. We whipped their asses and everybody saw it.
Briles “ok guys line up for your post game cash payout. Only 1/2 because you lost”
Then learn to protect him better. Perfect example of why I want Mayfield to play smart. Those hits can add up.
Our qb got hurt on a illegal horse collar tackle..he toughed it out though and led our team to a victory
Yea, Baker took some shots today… But managed mightily.
Might need to refresh for my pic below
https://twitter.com/Big12Conference/status/665763724033069057
You just beat me to it JE. 🙂
Oh dang. I didn’t expect that with OSU winning. Awesome news, though that will make for late drive back to Tulsa for this old man. Can’t think of a better way to finish the home schedule though.
… reload
Next week, TCU/OU, will be primetime game again. 7pm ABC
Boykin might play…sprained ankle and all.
I am okay with that, their D is porous.
Yeah, we don’t lose next week unless we just don’t show up with our heads on right.
Yup. Should be fine unless we beat ourselves. DL gets to hobbled Boykin, it could be long night for the Frogs. He definitely is the engine that makes that offense go.
He might not have a choice. They are desperate to win now.
We need him to play…it would improve the quality of the win
Good!
That sucks for me. I won’t be where I can see it on TV. ARGH!
I feel for you Bruh.
Sometimes your the bear. 🙂
Yeah, I will have to enter the “cone of silence” for a couple of hours, myself.
Dang it. I may beg my wife not to make me go out… But I doubt she will let me out of it. It’s been planned for three months. UGH!
Special occasion?
Yes. An anniversary celebration for some people at church.
That seems less important.
Even worse, they are Sooner fans.
I have pulled my Semi along side the Church before, put up the Satellite Dish, and enjoyed the game with the men during evening celebrations. I did not enjoy the discussion with my wife on the way home.
This guy gets it.
I think I may come down with a cold or the flu or something around Friday night…
Come down with a sudden case of the “quick step”.
I do hope God has blessed you with a DVR.
OH YEAH!
There’s always WatchESPN
*priorities.
Getting my nuts cut off is something I HIGHLY want to avoid. LOL
You’re married. You don’t need ’em.
LOL! TRUE DAT!
https://twitter.com/_TMOE55/status/665756096586321920
Yes! And there will be so much more of this to come!
Thanks to Big game Bob and all the coaching staff.
Boomer.
How bout that ridiculous play where the Baylor defender runs over and tells his buddy to “take a dive.” Good grief. Have a little self respect.
https://twitter.com/redditcfb/status/665761651849740288
Hahahahahahahaha!
That’s a picture of Perine!
Quick. ESPn uploads video with headline of said injury fakery. LMAO…Thanks Herbie
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=14132902
College football has to do something about this. I know if a team wants to really fake it, and they have players smart enough to do it as soon as a play is over it’ll be hard to spot, but what Baylor did tonight is a travesty of the game.
I think he might have hurt himself diving to the ground. They had him on the trainer’s table looking at his leg afterwards…and, he was pretty woozy in appearance leaving the field. I’m thinking an Oscar nomination might be in order.
It might have been legit. He was still out of the game several plays later.
Hey look it says GULLIBLE on the ceiling.
I don’t know about that, but it says DOUCHEBAG just below my last comment.
I love Kirk “That is BUSH LEAGUE”
Commentary tonight was very good. Best I have heard all year.
I agree totally! They were awesome!
Pretty much sums up the Baylor program.
Nice call-out by the announcers. Herbie was all over it from the beginning.
Ya know….bless Herbie for not only pointing that out but for being ambivalent about it. Just goes to show what Briles is breeding there.
Yeah, when an ESPN/ABC crew can see the scum, you know its bad.
I hope ESPN uses their clout to start calling to question Baylor’s tactics.
Yeah Herbie really nailed em on that…..I was laughing my a$$ off
This video has to be sent to their recruits’ accounts
https://twitter.com/GotBoz44/status/665754094431178753
[whispering] … the Boz…
I love it, his pre game, jumbo tron vid was awesome!
We Invented Winning!
https://twitter.com/Druiz1/status/665755507953569792
WTF with the name plate? Do they not know who he is? SMH and LMAO! BOOMER!!
welcome back!
Well…it is still the state of texsa after all.
Great night, everyone. Now we just gotta wash, rinse, and repeat!
Sterling Shepard, hands down best receiver on the field! BOOM!
Which would also make him the best receiver in the country.
I would not argue against this statement. When you need clutch, look to Shep. When you need assurance, look to Shep. When you don’t have a Shep, look to Shep.
Yep, on third down and a prayer, I feel pretty confident it’s about to be answered with Shep lined up. Clutch dude. Great dude. OUr dude!
I would have to give Tapper a game ball for the way he has played these last 3 weeks. He is a man on a mission. He is just terrorizing olineman and taking their names along the way.
He also ran down Linwood FROM BEHIND!!!
Someone must of said something to him and it lit his fire in a huge way. I love how they are coming together at the right time.
I saw that. AMAZING speed for such a big guy.
Enjoy Perine’s run again:
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=14132557
Lol Baylor “Set a Record” today for attendance at a whopping 49,875…That’s the cutest thing I’ve read all night
Goes along with their cute little stadium…as I said to my family, it is a cute little stadium, but it has penis envy toward Allen HS stadium! 😉
Set a record for smallest ever crowd at Gameday, too!! Ha!
And the funny part is that our fans were louder than theirs.
Because we were punishing those punks.
Because we were punishing those punks.
Any tweets from Tyree Horton? He was supposed to be at the game.
Lots of recruits at the game. Sign’em up guys!!!
He won’t make that mistake again.
I’m not sure he’s seriously considering BU. Just another free trip to an OU game.
Pretty good when players spend their OV just to watch you on the road but I think you’re right. We were supposedly ahead for Horton before we laid the smack down tonight.
He should be saying, Damn I want to be a part of the Sooner train barreling down the tracks in front of Briles. LOL!!!!
I’m sure he heard from striker
He hasn’t posted anything since he got to Waco.
along with 20 other guys
Any of our main targets?
They were all 4/5 stars so I’m sure there was
I’m a little weary of anyone who seriously considers baylor. I mean, come on.
I get it but they are attractive until TONIGHT
If I were a parent and I met Briles, I would look at my son and say, “No.”
ditto
Seibert’s punts were absolutely great! Very key.
Does anyone mind if I say it again?
Suck it, Briles!!!
Some things can’t be overstated.
How was the defense JB
A whole lot better than last year, thank goodness. Could’ve done without the players losing their cool and making costly penalties. But I get to say, “suck it, Briles!” I cannot stand that douche. Very, very happy!
Thank you. Defense is playing good and the INT from Amad was off the charts. Big time play. He really needed that after the grief he took last year.
Ronda Rousey got KNOCKED OUT!
Big time!
Why did they have to have this fight tonight? Regardless, hahahahahahaha!
Knocked the eff out with a leg kick to the head…
I didn’t think she had it in her. Holly Holm has never showed much fire in her fights with all the talent that she has. That’s awesome.
WOW!
I was afraid that might happen. Seemed like a boxing champ might have a shot.
I’m kind of glad this happened.. Ronda was getting way too arrogant.
It’s a GREAT, GREAT day
I’m flagging this comment. #whocares
Jordan does. He’s been tweeting her stuff all week.
He also loves Pitch Perfect. Le sigh…..
LOL
And thinks Mike Stoops should be fired.
I was hoping someone would call him out on this…up until now, I thought I was the only one who found it odd…
What a great night. Lol
If OU isn’t at least #7 in the next CFP Poll, there are some serious shenanigans going on. BOOMER!
Completely agree. Stanford went down tonight, so we need to keep winning (most important) and get a little luck with Stanford beating Notre Dame and our chances would look pretty decent…..SOONER!
Baylor comes out dressed in black to attend the funeral of their title dreams. Baker Mayfield officiating the service. Boomer…
Oh, I also have a hand gesture for Jeff Lebby. (and his video taping wife)
Wonder is he was taking notes tonight on the different ways the Sooners kicked his ass.
Boomer Boomer Boomer .. D was great tonight.. Great win.. Still work to be done in November.. Least get ready for the next one
Let’s*.. Whoops
Shoutout to the wolves.
Boom in the house
Actually, I’m surprised after Herbie called out that Baylor player for faking the injury that they didn’t bring up the coaching suspensions.
Love Herbie
Herbie’s a good Ohio homer. He and BS are pretty tight.
Always seems like OU is Herbie second favorite team..
Yeah I dont get why some OU fans rag on Herbie. Hes almost always pro OU.
It was great listening to Herbie go off on the Baylor BS. A toast to Mr. Herbstreet for calling them out on that mess!
Briles always gets mad when someone does it to him and then he does it and it’s ok.
I was glad he did. I want to see the NCAA do something about this. Some teams abuse this…a lot.
The injury looked to be real. Shep caught a pass a few plays later on the backup safety who was still in the game.
The video of the fake injury should be seen by all Baylor commits, it says a lot about their team…
I know I’m greedy but I really wanted 51 points go rub Briles’ cheating face in “it”
Agreed
I told a friend over on FB today that I wouldn’t be surprised if OU hung a half a hunnert on them tonight. Came close.
Don’t look now but Rhonda Roussey just got knocked tf out. #bestathleteeverrrr my A$$
Good. I’m not a fan of the sport, but I get sick of hearing about her.
But…but…but…she could beat Floyd Mayweather! (Right…and monkeys might fly out of my butt)
Be careful of what you say. Bruce may be listening. :-0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PffyYuzGow
We’ll see how fast Dana White dumps her ass now…
She’ll get a rematch first…
Tate should be next in line for the belt.

Because everything about your program is CRAP.
Damn… Roasted.

So Kahlil saved those tweets, just for this occasion? Nice.
I’m wondering if “those people” on these boards who have been doubting OU all season are finally convinced? Geez…two game left in the season and maybe they finally believe in these young men and their coaches. smdh #beatthefrogs
Watching the replay and Walker is about to go full on Beast. Guy is going to be something else next season.
Him and Overton next to each other next season makes me very happy.
That is a nice thought. Our future DL is shaping up pretty nicely.
Toss in Gallimore.
Toss around a few opposing RBs.
And Lampkin.
And Gabe Campbell. I have high hopes for him.
And Wood
Better and better. I had forgotten about Wood.
Is he still coming next year?
Supposedly January… time will tell.
We only lose Tapper…got some young talent too
Wade had a great game, too. Super line play against a good offensive line.
Love how hot the team is right now, peaking at the perfect time. 3 (hopefully 4) games against the top teams in the country and we might be celebrating #8!
Every sooner needs to be Stanford fan. Need notre dame to lose!!!
Wouldnt hurt for Zona to finish off the Utes tonight either
That was just delightful.
I have a foul mouth and I won’t soil TFB with what I really think but **** Baylor. All I have to say….
Thank you Lee Corso!!!!
Good night.
Suck it, Briles!!
So if we can close out Baylor and their run game, is there anyone we can’t beat?
I think we win the next 2. Playoff/bowl depends on the team but nobody in the country wants to play us right now.
No.
If we can keep up that intensity, I don’t see us losing in the next two games, and we would be a da*n tough out in the playoffs.
One game at a time.
Always, but we fans can look ahead a little without losing focus.
You can… lol I’m not looking that far yet. I just want to see us beat the sh*t outta TCU and the pukes.
Good two cents
Flowbee….LOL!
I agree, going to be an exciting November.
Some are even talking upset alert for the ACC championship with UNC-Clemson.
I agree, But I don’t see Iowa winning out. I think they’re a good team but they could lose at any time. Either way your points are well taken. If we hadn’t lost that one headscratcher of a game this wouldn’t even be a conversation. But we did so we need some help.
yeah they haven’t looked good winning..the B10 west is pretty weak and they’ve played an easier schedule outside their division
Iowa is terrible. We would destroy them. They are the same team that Blake Bell ran up the middle on all night long in insight bowl. They’re the same team. Iowa, what a joke!
Im sure we would but if they somehow finish undefeated they would get in over us
“I think that erodes their credibility if OU wins out beating three undefeated teams to close out the regular season.”
\
TCU isn’t anymore…
Time of possession in the 4th Quarter:
OU 12:07
Baylor 2:53
That’s how you stop the spread.
This!!!!!
That game against Tenn taught these young men how to play every minute of every game.
except one, unfortunately
And the OOC games for Baylor taught them how to, well, nothing…it taught them nothing, so they had no clue how to play when challenged. Especially late in a game.
How to win a tough game 101.
Babies on the OL are growing up…gonna be nasty next year.
Starting to get a little nasty; aren’t they? Fun to watch.
Brown got a little too nasty after Mixon flipped the defender
Young man. A little overly emotional in the moment. He played a solid game overall and helped to spring Perine on his long run. He kept Oakman from being a factor, so I’ll take one moment of excessive nasty.
I like his intensity…Bob on the other hand was pissed lol (on that play)…for the most part he kept Oakman in check.. he’s getting better and better
He’s going to be a really good one. It will be fun to watch him progress.
I was waiting to see what would happen when Oakmen picked on somebody his own size. Now we know…..
He thought he was being cute going after Baker on the sideline.
Brown showed him what-what.
Brown is an NFL first round draft pick waiting to happen.
Glad to see some nasty from them tonight. It resulted in some penalties, but those young pups aren’t going to be somebody you wanna mess with.
I hated that it cost us a chance to score, but I couldn’t help but smile when Zeus clobbered Oakman on that unsportsman like penalty.
Best thing… this team is young and is learning how to win big games.
And how to put their collective foot on the other teams’ throat. There is a nasty swagger that has returned to OU football.
We need to remember how important the staff changes were as well.
Yep. I love Josh as a Sooner, but trading him for Riley was a good trade. D upgrades were also good.
Oh absolutley. I give the staff a load of credit, especially Coach Reynolds and Coach Cooks.
I’m liking the intensity and the players with a little chip on their shoulder.
I haven’t had this feeling since 2000 when Bob got his name. Loving it.
Great year! Remember it well. Loving the feeling with this team too.
I’m very happy that Perine got more than 5 carries in the game and that he was able to bust up some big runs.

Sup EasTex.
Just enjoying the warm, comfortable sensation of a great day of wins.
My old high school won their tough bi-district playoff game this afternoon, then my beloved Sooners made the day complete.
Good day indeed. Shaping up for a very good year and possible PO birth.
Got to keep their eyes on the prize.
No doubt.
AAAAAA-OOOOOOOOH! Werewolves of Norman…
There wolves…
There castle
Anyone know where we can catch the postgame interviews?

Thanks to Gary Robbins, I just copied and pasted.
A number of kids OU is after got to see some real OU football. Betting it made an impression on some who will be in Norman next Saturday for ‘November to Remember – Part Deux’.
The TCU game has the feel of 08 Tech game. Feel like we are going to be cranked up, and the poor little Pattersons are going to feel the swath of it.
Hope so.
Patterson will have his guys ready. Wonder the condition of Boykin and Docson.
Heard a report that said Boykin is fine and will play. We’ll see.
Patterson said he “thinks” Boykin will play… but ankle injuries are rough, even a slight sprain could be dangerous for the kid. I hope he is healthy, but I also hope he isnt 100%…. Im probably going to hell…. I had thought Doctson out for the season???
I’m going to hell with you.
We lost Bradford and Gresh. I’m OK if TCU loses Boykin and Doctson for our game.
To baylor and their minions, we were most pleased to christen your quaint little stadium to OU football. Look forward to seeing what you have done with the place in a few years….
http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view1/4335742/christening-a-ship-o.gif
HA! UTES DOWN TO ZONA!!! Thats Utah, LSU, Stanford and BAYLOR down tonight boys!!! ON TO TCU!
2 loss pac 12 champ
Down ND
Please beat ND.
Sweet!
Great win. Long time reader, but haven’t posted. I was impressed with our run defense as Baylor thought they could run it at will.
Welcome! OUr D played a tremendous game. We are poised the be the team to beat moving forward.
So # 6, 7, 9, & 10 fall. OSU looked bad. I honestly think we jump to #6 this week.
8 mos likey
I disagree. Not after controlling a top 10 team and 4 teams in front of us falling. 7 would be the lowest if they don’t want to jump us over undefeated OSU.
I’m not going to concern myself with what the playoff cabal might or might not do.
I would call myself “concerned” but its fun to dream EasTex… Gotta hope the guys show up against TCU and continue to put Little Brother in their place…
I will enjoy this sensation for about another 14 hours then it’s on to tcu.
Take care of our business and go Stanford!!
…
https://twitter.com/KirkHerbstreit/status/665769806767898625
That works just fine. Hopefully, the committee is somewhere close to that mindset.
Herbie has seemingly always shown a little love to OU. I hope he gets to call the game next year. 🙂
Herbstreit just teed up a beautiful, shiny Titleist, aka, Bedlam
Cabal. I like that.
Im thinking Lil Bro gets 5 or 6 depending on how the committee sees Iowa… then its OU. No way they let us jump OSU and Iowa with the tough games ahead still…
That is very possible.
We just need to win out. That’s all we can do. Texsa is behind us as inexplicable as it is. We just need to win out.
Step one (beat TCU). Step two (beat the pokes). Then hope for a little good fortune.
Go Stanford!!!!!
Barry used to always say that the Texsa game determined who got the shot at a national championship run…Would have never thunk it could happen to the team that LOST that game. Embarrassment is a strong motivator.. Must keep focus though. One. Game. At. A. Time.
Only bama and the sec are allowed to do that.
We won’t jump OSU since last week they beat a highly rated TCU.
Corey Coleman 3 rec 51 yds 0 td 37 long
Not bad. Do that against Doctson and we next week looks pretty good.
Well, here’s to Charleston Southern beating Bama next week. Good night all.
If they get a loss before the SEC-Championship… My money is on Auburn…. rivalry game…
And while bama is playing mighty charleston southern, espn and the football pundits will be whining about the Big 12’s soft OOC schedule. The irony, they shall not see it.
TCU will not go quietly. Let’s enjoy today and get back to serious work tomorrow. Would be a horrible shame to throw this great win away next week.
After texsa and the way this team played thru the ‘weak’ part of the schedule….just do not see this team letting up or letting off at all.
Pokes gonna be pissed if OU jumps them. lol
and rightfully so.
Not to be argumentative, but osu had the biggest jump out of any team last week after beating TCU. Still, I see your point.
Iowa did I believe, they jumped 3 spots to 5
OSU went from like 15 to 5 didn’t they?
no
“Oklahoma State moved up seven spots to No. 5 after beating TCU 49-29.”
http://www.scrippsmedia.com/kfaq/news/OSU-Makes-Biggest-Jump-in-AP-Poll-as-New-No-5-Team-343668232.html
In the CFP rankings… Iowa moved from 9 to 5, 4 spots… OSU moved from 14 to 8, 6 spots.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/21/seasontype/2/year/2015/week/11
correct
BIG 12 is not going to get very much love in the polls tomorrow and Tuesday, unfortunately. Jury was out on Baylor due to their weak schedule so far. TCU struggled after Boykin’s injury to take barely care of Kansas and OSU pulled a win out of their butts. But, loved what I saw from OU today and would put them up against anyone in the country, rankings be damned.
One thing though… Oklahoma is a big name in the CFB world and will receive the benefits as such. The CFB world just feels better when teams like OU are playing championship football.
OU Bama would be a high ratings game for sure
I’m hoping for a Clemson rematch personally.
A chance we could play both..be nice to knock Bama out in the first round…oh the butt hurt at espn
yes
I want the rematch in the title game. I don’t see Clemson dropping out of the 1 spot if they keep playing the way they have been. Do you think it’s realistic that Oklahoma can reach the #3 spot instead of the 4?
I think OU will get a nice bump in the polls. Well deserved.
I think Baylor beats OSWho. BU is a tough team to beat. The Pukes have gotten all the breaks so far this season. Their free ride ends next Saturday.
Baylor is better than OSU but the game is in Stillwater and we might have taken the starch out of the bears. Normally I wouldnt even flinch and Id pick Baylor but this game could go either way.
Everything is falling in to place for OU right now… just win out and everything else will take care of itself. I’m really loving this team right now.
On another note… Holly Holm thoroughly dismantled Rousey. I like that too.
Boy did she! Man…
Hero of the game for me was Kerry Cooks, and here’s why:

Now we just crush the frogs and the pokes and hopefully we are in! Boomer Sooner
Chiming in to say Boom!
OU will gain ground this week on Ohio State and Bama. But no worries, the Tide will have a chance to impress the cabal with their game next Saturday against Charleston Southern Comfort.
Any battle against Southern Comfort could get messy…
Credit needs to go to JY, who called the victory earlier this week.
Yes, but he was far from alone. There were many who believed. And so it was.
We cannot help that we are maniacs.
We’re SOONERS!!!!!
🙂
Going to be a whole lot of crow served up today to some of our local beat writers that picked the bears to win….
I haven’t been this hung over in a very long time… totally worth it! Boomer friggin Sooner
we got sucker punch in that first drive and then we did all of the punching. Thought at times we got cute trying to be pass happy when we just needed to run off tackle. They were coming on 1st down from the edges and if we go off tackle, we are good. DL was just off the charts and MS had a great game plan
Get those dead brain cells cleared out, you got Desoto to prep for.
/keep it going
Not till tomorrow lol.
They may not be the same Desoto as others, but they still have some talent. Work them like a rented mule.
Yeah we’re going to go all Allen all over their ass lol.
Pulling for you guys.
My old school draws South Oak Cliff for the second year in a row and play at Desoto. At least they don’t have 13 D1 commits this year.
Saw this one floating around of FB. It’s perfect

Yea, someone posted that here last night. Classic.
Boom!!!

Awesome!
BOOM BABY BOOM!
7pm start time against TCU
On ABC. That means it’ll be Herbie and Fowler calling it again, right?
not sure as they will be doing game day. I would assume no. OU TCU is not a game day event.
Oh, do they always call the game they are at for GameDay? They didn’t used to, but I haven’t been paying attention this year. Doubt they called the James Madison/Richmond game.
It might depend on where Game Day is. You also have baylor at Okie lite at 6:30. A short helicopter jump away.
GameDay is at Ohio State/MSU. Snoozefest.
Hoping we have a shot at getting them for the OU/OSU game if both teams win next Saturday. A lot of other good games that week though.
Thanks.
Welcome to the board!
Welcome.
Well couldn’t be on the board last night, but damn! what a game! This OU team has shown me more than any team in a long time has.
Welcome bud
Welcome.
It was a great win last night. This is a different team.
Welcome, I too think Mike Stoops deserves a game ball.
Welcome, and BOOMER SOONER!
Let’s get it!
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/page/gamedayfinal111415/college-football-playoff-hopes-dashed-pac-12-stanford-cardinal-lose-oklahoma-sooners-reinvigorated-win-baylor-bears
Mayfield.
In fact, Mr. Mayfield is soooo Smooth, I swear he enters into the stadium with this song every game….
https://youtu.be/-cmo6MRYf5g
If you watch the wrap-up video linked at the top of the article, Striker, Bond, and Gundy do a nice job of messing with Baker during an after the game, on-the-field interview. Pretty funny.
I loved it when Gundy kissed his cheek. That was flipping awesome.
The Gameday crew got shut out on last night’s game ! lol
Well, sort of. No doubt Herbie would have picked OU, but he wasnt allowed to pick.. 🙂
I knew that we had it won the minute Corso put on that dumbass bear head.
It was in the bag.
BOOMER SOONER!!!! I actually had tears in my eyes watching some of the celebrations by Sooner players and fans alike. Great stuff!
Has anyone seen any locker room celebratory video?
If so could you post a link.
There is one in this thread, just scroll way down.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CT1jQDUUEAQpnPd.jpg
Love that I’m stealing it
Bob Stoops twitter account followed recruits who were guest of Baylor at the game. right after the game. awesome!!!
I hope they put it all together the next two games. This season is shaping up to be really special.
After the game the fans were complaining about the rain. “On a dry field it would have been different.”
Bob Loblaw.
Can’t agree more. There were a few missed opportunities. And, those personal fouls.
I’m okay with the personal fouls. It kept them on edge. It told me that everyone was “all in” and that no soul was backing down from the challenge.
Those defensive personal fouls told me that the defense wanted payback from Oakman’s hit on Knight last year.
And what about Mayfield: he has that “f**k you” attitude that carries over to the entire team.
Agree…but I’m thinking more of Dimon’s foul that got him ejected. But yeah. OU players wasn’t taking anything from them. lol
You didn’t bother me none with your yelling, I was having fun myownself…

I said it before the season began, “I LIKE THIS TEAM” Watching them compete, grow and learn has been thrilling.
Also, here you go! All my boys in white road unis won yesterday.

Yes you did. You’ve always been behind these boys. #JustWaitOnIt.
What was it Coach Montgomery used to tweet? #justwaitonit
I know I’m jumping the gun. By the end of the year I can’t imagine a 1-loss OU being behind a 1-loss Notre Dame but I don’t trust the committee. Either way Stoops and Co. are doing their part and I’m really proud of them.
Control what you can control. Don’t worry about anything but winning out.
you know what? After the last few years.. . I will take a 1 loss OU team with or without a playoff… Just glad to see how great this team is playing
Fixed it and you are welcome. 🙂
I had to Google “cabal”. I learned a new word and it is very fitting.
If it comes down to OU and ND it will be a “Quality of losses vs Quality of Wins” debate, which Ohio State won last year.
The deal is one little burnt orange bump in the road.
Yeah, and our current guys love Reynolds so it will take care of itself as they continue to see success.
I believe so. Next year OU needs to replace Tapper, Bond and Striker.. So in comes Overton, Gallimore, Lampkin. Then Evans, Bolton, DeBerry, and McGinnis. OU is just re-loading.
Defense got just enough stops and the offense did their part. Excellent game!
Well, what does it feel like when dreams come true?
Smart.
Reading in a Waco paper this morning that Briles is saying that they still have a shot at co-conference champion. I thought I read earlier this week that the Big 12 had corrected that “co-champion” stuff? Anyone know what the facts are on that?
What he’s admitting to is that he doesn’t control his destiny. Baylor needs the right combination of losses to win. They’re eliminated in my opinion.

Overrated ass
He got pancaked.
Alvarez!
A thing of absolute beauty, Courtesy of Alvarez w/ an assist from Zeus. Sit down!!!
It was nice to see Stidham get punished last night. It doesn’t get any easier in the future. He has a veteran line in front of him this year. Reshuffle next year.
LOL! Iowa.

Much admiration and appreciation to the defense and the coaches.
Watching baylor burn almost all of the play clock to run a play instead of the 19 seconds between snaps average was a thing of beauty.
Mike dialed up a great plan, the players bought in and executed wonderfully.
New thread up… Esco’s thoughts..

I mean really, did he think no one could see him? I didn’t know whether to get mad or laugh my @$$ off. Did both.
Great day to be a SOONER! Congrats to the team, coaches, and all of the Sooner Nation on a hard fought victory!
Will Dimon have to sit out the TCU game?
What will be the TCU score?
Depends on if Boykin starts or not. Either way, I think we win by a couple of touchdowns if we bring the same attitude back home to Norman we took to Waco.
Missed this celebration thread because I was too tired after “couch coaching” my Sooners to victory! Thanks to all my fellow Sooners for their unified spirit! Oh and one last thanks to Steph Dale for being wrong as usual.
