I really hope I’m wrong and this proves to be a comfortable win for the Sooners, but I kind of have a sneaky bad feeling about this game. Maybe I’m just reading too much into the ‘Tech is playing really well’ talk I keep hearing, who knows. Either way it will be really interesting to see how this OU team responds coming off what can only be considered a really tough loss this past Saturday, even if it was to perennial Big 12 favorite Kansas.
Only one way to find out, I guess.

If we shoot like we have been the last few games, then I’m very worried about this game. But i think we come out of are shooting slump tonight and win by a few points!!
If we come out of the slump we’ve been in, we should roll by Tech. I just don’t know if we’re “back” yet.

Feel like we kinda started playing the way we are capable of, during the second half of the KU game. Hopefully, that was a sign that we’re back on track. We’re going to find out really soon if that’s the case. Tech is good enough to beat us if we haven’t gotten out of the funk we’ve been in.
Agree, we need to start the game with some fire. The last few games, we come out slow and have to get motivated in second half. I believe if we had not started cold against KU, we would have won. We missed some open shots early

We have to climb out of the ditch eventually right? Even with some off nights we’re still one of the top in the Nation, we will get it lined out.

Sooner women is like watching Jeckel and Hyde. They can not play a good game twice in a row. They looked good against Texsa this past weekend. Tonight we look terrible.

Any time the post players get the ball they instantly look like an awkward 6th-grader that just started playing last week. Does OU have a coach that teaches them any semblance of a post move? It really is troubling to me.

There have been about 20 no calls or bad calls in this game alone. This isn’t officiating. It’s just randomly blowing the whistle and sending people to the FT line. It’s like this every GD game in this conference.

Yeah the refs in every Big12 game I’ve watched this year have done a very poor job at best. Missed calls and inconsistency in the ones they do make seems to be the theme of the year.

I watched an ACC game, and a Wichita State game this last week. The difference is night and day in the flow of the game, the consistency of the calls. I couldn’t believe it, I was watching actual basketball. Not whatever farce this conference thinks is basketball.

Hot shooting team with no inside presence cools down and becomes average. Buddy spends half the possessions giving up after tough face guarding. Spangler needs to be benched but Mcnease is a liability on the boards and D. Lattin is a non factor on O. Troubled waters OU is in, right before the tourney…
As it stands, this team is lucky to win one in each tourney.
agreed……the team peaked against Villanova and before other teams figured out how to stop the offensive flow of the Sooners attack..the most disappointing development after 26 games is the lack of bench development and the lack of ‘big’ production from Spangler, Lattin, ,McNease, & Manyang……………little wonder Hield rarely has an open shop or isn’t guarded by 2 opponents…….
The only other players scoring was Woodard. If Buddy isn’t getting the ball then I think I was Woody shooting. Not Cousin’s or anyone else with the game on the line.

So this is probably dumb to say because I know the whole team is struggling but Buddy has really seemed to struggle shooting since his mom started living with them and he has had to sleep on the couch. I also feel like he struggled towards the end of last year when his mom again stayed with him to finish the season.

How does a team that beat Villanova by 23, and has so many other quality wins, look as bad as they have over the last several games? I am frustrated and flabbergasted…
Because we are tired. Starters play all game every game, we are an overachieving team (based on talent) who has no depth. This was honestly inevitable, I just hope we can close the season on a good note and get a decent seed in the tourney. As long as moral stays high this team can go to the sweet 16 easy with good rest
We played and have played horrible, no question about it. We missed way too many shots open or contested. One thing that has changed considerably is the fact everybody now (according to supposed people in the know and commentators) has figured out how to play Buddy Hield. That’s right, they showed the replay tonight five times. Buddy gets a flagrant one for an inadvertent elbow to the head of Gray but what was failed to mention at all was both of his hands were grabbing Oklahoma on Buddy’s jersey. Now not trying to be a homer but being consistent is and should be a standard for everybody and it is getting ridiculous. We got to hear arguably ESPN’s “D” crew tonight commentate the game and I just got tired of listening to the nonsense coming out of their mouths. The dreaded four on none play started when Evans dove into Buddy( foul) then Spangler grabbed the loose ball and tried to throw it to Isaiah. Gotcher came in tipped the ball away and then grabbed the ball and took three steps carrying the ball before jumping in the air to throw the ball to a teammate. Awesome play but again three steps is a travel, which obviously is a violation. One of my favorites of the night was when the commentators kept saying Temple and Tech got away with a lane violation, he clearly was in the lane when they were bring the ball down. Shot goes up still in the lane he gets the rebound and stands for 6 seconds looking for anybody, no call. Then it isn’t metioned once the rest of the game, even though they went the entire rest of the game with at least one foot in the lane at all times. Yeah I’m bitter and disappointed but disparity and ignorance are two totally different things, Big 12 officials are not good. Hopefully this was a major wake up call and we start playing like the start of the season. Woodard shooting more like he did tonight, Isaiah driving to the bucket or dishing, Spangler being aggressive and making plays, Khadeem blocking shots and getting tips ins, bench contribution and last Buddy being Buddy! Boomer!

Well, my guess is we will finish 4th in the conference, maybe a 3 or 4 seed in the tournament. I honestly don’t think I’ll watch another B12 game this year. I don’t know how anyone can watch the way these conference games are officiated and think that they’re watching basketball. Just going to hope that this OU team doesn’t let this conference turn them into a different team.
I want the team that ran Villanova off the court. But that’s impossible in a conference that doesn’t have the slightest clue what they’re doing. So hopefully what I’m seeing is Lon and OU just doing what they can to get through the conference healthy. Because a team like OU simply isn’t going to be allowed to win this conference.
The ONLY way to win in the B12 is to slam into the lane, throw up a prayer, and hope for a foul. That’s 90% of the offenses in this conference. Or, you grab, pull, punch people until you beat them up, knowing that it’s considered perfectly legal with these refs.
So, running an actual offense and playing actual defense is a hindrance if you’re OU. I just hope it doesn’t screw us up for the tournament.

The boys look exhausted, and is a shooter doesn’t have his legs…well then he doesn’t have a shot. We’re an average team right now, with ZERO inside game. I saw Spangler really post up one time last night, and he scored easily. I’m not real sure why Kruger is so hesitant to pull Spangler, and go small with Buddy, Cousins, Woodard, Buford and Walker/James. It’s not like we’re making an effort to rebound the ball anyways, and this will space the floor better.
Earlier in the season I made a comment to a friend about this team peaking to early and wearing out by seasons end. It seems to have come to fruition. The uptempo offense and lack of bench production has flat out wore the starters out. There have been many close games not allowing the bench a chance to close out the games and there seems to be a bench player that Lon trusts off the bench during the game. I also have rarely seen a night lately where all 3 (Cousins, Hield, and Woodard) have good nights together. It’s either one or the other and usually even if it is 2 of them it is enough. If they don’t get the starters rest it will be a short lived NCAA tourney. There will be teams that will just pound the ball inside and slow this team down as has been the case of late. The inside game for the Sooners was never a strong suit but seems to have become non-existent. Spangler had a good game rebounding as usual but had 5 points on the night and Lattin had a goose egg. There is no way this team beats a good team with 5 true points from their post starters and an exhausted backcourt. Rest them up now or they’ll be sitting on the sidelines watching the cool kids dancing!
well, that game sucked. if we don’t get an inside game going we’re not going as far as we should. we have LOTS of talent but you can’t just rely on 3’s and long jump shots. I love this team and what Kruger has built but we MUST get some bigs involved.
