OU Football | Spring Roster Updates

Overview

OU released their spring roster Monday. It has all returning players, plus the early enrollees. We like to go through those rosters and compare them to the last roster, looking for differences.

The last roster OU released on SoonerSports.com is dated for November 2016. Early enrollee “old” numbers are via 247.com.

While this roster was released Monday, the numbers already seem to be outdated. We’ve seen sources stating that the numbers are from the first week of winter workouts. Several of the early enrollees have commented on the roster, stating that their weight is different than that listed. Marquise Brown was stated to actually be at 157, while Justin Broiles and Grant Calcaterra took to twitter to announce their respective weights of 175 and 233. Regardless of when it was measured, here are the measurements.

Highlighted numbers indicate either a jersey number change or an early enrollee.

Quick Thoughts

*I wouldn’t mind seeing 10 more pounds on Sermon.

*Marquise Brown…. wow. I know I mentioned above that he is currently at 157, but that is still pretty darn light. If Mayfield can pick up his weight-lifting, he’s not going to have to throw Brown the ball in the endzone – he’s going to be able to throw Brown into the endzone.

*Chris Robison and Tanner Schafer making the backup QB spot a lighter average weight

*Motley bulking up can’t be a bad thing.

*Farrar has a good frame, I like the 5 pound addition.

*Kelly going lighter, interesting.

*Sunderland slimming down.

*Very small listed weight for Broiles, wouldn’t mind that one being false.

*Good size addition for Hall.

*Hulk (McGinnis) becoming even more Hulk like, goodness.

*Creed Humphrey – yes. Excited for his potential.

*Lampkin – he had better be seeing the field this year, that’s some big size on the line. With that said, Stoops did specifically mention that he is closer to 330 or 320.

*Wren bulking up is ok by me.

*Alvarez bulking up as well, probably a good thing.

*Cody Ford – oh my, I’d run away

*Just when we thought Orlando Brown couldn’t be a larger human being…

*Calcaterra is going to be fun to watch here in a couple years, keep bulking up please and thank you

*Overton bulking up, hope he gets some good playing time

*The average weight of the 5 guys JY projected as starters is currently 333 pounds…. oh my.
