The Oklahoma football program held their annual team banquet Friday night that has traditionally been an opportunity to hand out a number of awards, often to some of the less heralded members on the team.

One of several events on the night was the recognition of the team’s seventeen seniors, including those who will be graduating later this month: Brannon Green, Bronson Irwin, Trey Millard, Corey Nelson, Jaz Reynolds, and Julian Wilson.

There were a number of awards handed out, including:

Don Key Award – Gabe Ikard & Trey Millard (which was previously announced during the Senior Day festivities prior to the Iowa State game)

Thanks for the write up Jordan, I absolutely hate how the season ended for Millard and hope that he has a long and successful career in the league. it’s no surprise to me at all that Austin Woods gets an award about being a role model either. Dude is an inspiration.

      No doubt re: Woods

I always like to try and get something like this up every year b/c the walk-ons and scout team guys put in the same amount of hard work as the guys who get to play on Saturdays but w/o any of the same praise.

Gotta respect that kind of dedication and determination.

BIG 12 gave Trey respect by naming him first team All Conference, despite missing much of conference play. Austin Woods is the man!

    • Learguy says:

Austin was a true class act and leader. I have no doubt he will achive success in any endeavour he chooses.

I’m gonna hit up Ace and find out who this walk-on LB is

    • Ed Cotter says:

Yeah, I have never heard of Ruben Hunter. Can’t wait to hear what you find out about him.

      • Brian says:

Poster over on Rivals said Ruben is his cousin. Ruben is the 2nd fastest LB on the team (behind only Aaron Franklin).

Good write up Jordan. Would love to see Millard get drafted by the Patriots and properly utilized.

If you guys get a chance, check out the photos on the OU Football Facebook page (from this event). There is a photo of the Derrick Sheppard award presentation that is just awesome. To see Sterling able to enjoy the presentation is moving (at least to me).
