Open Post | Weekend, Sept. 29th – Oct. 1st

DaShaun White: Earlier this week, I caught up with Sooners LB target, DaShaun White. As we previously noted, White was scheduled to take a official visit to OU in November for the TCU game (November 11th).

White is looking at moving his visit date up. He is now considering a official visit to OU on October 28th for the Texas Tech game. Why the change? DaShaun said he wants to visit with his friend, Leon O’Neal, “I’m likely going to switch my OV to the 28th with him (Leon). The TCU game is a lot later than I thought”.

In talking about playing with O’Neal at the next level, White said, “We’d never planned to but that’s my guy. Would be a hell of a teammate. – (Super K)

Ronnie Perkins: Sooners have been trying for quite some time to get Ronnie Perkins on campus. It seems they are nearing that end. I was told Perkins was eyeing an October date for his visit.

Perkins has confirmed that he will not visit next week for the Iowa State game and will instead visit OU at the end of the month for the Texas Tech game.

The Sooners are pushing hard to get his friend and Texas LB commit, Ayodele Adeoye on campus for the same weekend.

I haven’t heard back from Daniel Carson yet but my guess is the Sooners are trying to get him on campus the same weekend. You may recall, both Perkins and Carson took their visit to Texas together. That wasn’t accidental. – (Super K)

CJ Smith: The Sooners were originally set to host 2018 West Palm Beach (Oxbridge Academy) safety, CJ Smith on October 7th. This week, however, Smith came out and said he would be at the Miami vs. Florida State game on October 7th instead of OU.

I’ve been told that OU is still very much pursuing the former Florida Gator commit, but with the Iowa State game set for 11 am kickoff, it made it very hard for Smith to logistically make it in on time. So, Oklahoma and Smith have rescheduled his official for October 28th when OU hosts Texas Tech.

There is still a thought it will be hard to get Smith out of the sunshine state, but if OU can get him in on a visit and they still have the numbers, anything is possible.

More Bye Week Staff Visits:

Got word on some additional Sooner staff by week visits going down today and tomorrow. There are some new names here.

Spencer Rattler: First of all the head man himself was in Arizona last night to see 2019 QB commit Spencer Rattler. It was also Rattler’s birthday.

As Brandon mentioned, Sooners will check out their RB commit, TJ Pledger and targets Noah Cain and Trey Sanders at IMG. But they are also expected to go see:

Isaiah Spiller – OU will be in Spring, TX to see 2019 RB target, Isaiah Spiller. Spiller’s father, Fred, played at TAMU. Still, they’ve definitely demonstrated interest in the Sooners by visiting Norman. He was in Norman the OU BBQ this past summer. And the lack of stability at TAMU is helping OU. Spiller does hold an OU offer.

John Emery – Sooners have not yet offered him but 2019 RB, John Emery (Destrehan, LA) tells me that a OU staff member is expected to see him this week. Emery already holds an offer from his in-state program, LSU. He appears to be the guy that LSU may be pursuing even harder than they’re pursuing Baton Rouge native, Noah Cain. Below are his sophomore highlights. It looks like Emery jumped over 40 inches at the regional Opening!

Kenny McIntosh – Another 2019 RB that the Sooners are expected to see is Kenny McIntosh (Fort Lauderdale, FL). Don’t know a whole lot about McIntosh just yet.
