Sooners Staff Visiting DFW Recruits: With Oklahoma set to play in Dallas this weekend, you can expect the staff to head out and see some of their top recruits in the DFW area for the 2018 and 2019 classes. I was able to speak to a source and confirm that OU outside wide receiver coach Dennis Simmons will be in attendance for tonight’s game of 2019 Allen (TX) WR Theo Wease. Wease will also be at the game Saturday as an unofficial visitor on the Texas side. Texas isn’t considered much of a player for Wease, so it is critical OU put on a good performance.

The source also told us that some of the defensive staff will be out seeing 2018 North Richland Hills (TX) LB and Texas A&M commit, Deshaun White. White is a player OU really wants and is putting in a lot of time and effort to flip. As K noted in his post on White, he will be in attendance at the game on Saturday. It is very crucial that OU plays well and wins, as White still has legitimate interest in the Sooners.

The other player the Sooners staff will go and see is 2018 Sooners wide out commit Jaylon Robinson. Robinson is a player that has caught a lot peoples eyes as of late. He has the speed and ability to be a game changer at the college level. – (Brandon)

– The Sooners Connection with Top 2019 DB: While OU is going to have to fight some strong connections to Oklahoma State to land 2019 DB, Dax Hill (Tulsa, OK), they may to get some help in the 2019 class with Jalen Catalon (Mansfield, TX).

Catalon holds early offers from a number of top programs including OU, Ohio State, Clemson and Texas. I asked Catalon about his connection to OU, “My mom went to OU. So, you could say I have some ties with OU. Oklahoma is a school that I’m looking for to be my top school”.

Catalon says he will be at the OU vs. Texas game this weekend. He also tells me that he plans on being in Norman for the OU vs. TCU game.

Jalen Catalon is a name you’re going to hear a lot about as it relates to Oklahoma’s 2019 recruitment. – (Super K)

Lampkin Gets His Chance: Per a source I checked in with this morning who is close to DuVonta Lampkin, the big man texted him letting him know he was informed he will be starting tomorrow. This is good news for the Sooners front 7 as Lampkin is just a different animal when he is in the game. If you missed it, put out some tweets yesterday about how he looked against ISU.

Earlier this week, 2018 DB, Kalon Gervin (Detroit, MI) dropped his top list.

Not surprisingly the Sooners made the cut. Gervin visited OU for the Tulane game.

I asked Gervin if he expects to take any additional visits, “I’m thinking Nebraska, Florida and MSU (Michigan State)”. That would make a second trip to MSU this season and Gervin says, as his home state school, he’s very close to their staff.

As we previously noted, there are a group of DBs, which includes Gervin, that are on a first come first serve basis. However, of note, the Sooners did not visit Gervin during the bye week opting instead to go see Woodbey and CJ Smith.

It sounds like safety may be the priority because Gervin said that he doesn’t hear from the OU staff as much as he once did.

With Proctor having visited and with O’Neal, Smith and Woodbey expected to visit, Gervin is likely a guy OU is willing to hold off a bit.
