Neal, Davis, Brooks | Notebook
– Super K

***I saw the two 2020 cornerbacks – Fred Davis and Miles Brooks – out at Trinity Christian (Jacksonville, FL) on Monday.
First, if the Sooners are trying to get into that school, I’d say it’s very wise. A lot of talent there. I saw a 2019 nickelback at the school who’s biggest offer is Stetson and I’m quite certain the young man could play mid-major.
But there are a number of high major prospects there and they have a great coaching staff. Also, great kids who are taught to do things the right way.
Brooks told me he plans on visiting Oklahoma this weekend but I’ll reconfirm that later in the week. Strong interest in Oklahoma.
Davis, the 5-star CB, is an absolute stud. It’s still early in his process but OU is one of the schools he mentioned that is recruiting him the hardest. There are many but the fact that he mentioned them is good. He’s the kind of player that can help OU win a national championship.
And if you think it’s impossible to land kids like him out of Florida, you haven’t been paying attention to Ohio State. They took Shaun Wade out of there.
It’s very interesting to see the work Ohio State has done in terms of branding in Florida. You actually see little kids at practice wearing Ohio State gear. OU is, in my opinion, smart trying to get in the area. I’ve been out here three times in the past few months and more and more I hear the Sooners mentioned.
***I also stopped by IMG yesterday. I was scheduled to see Noah Cain, Trey Sanders, and Evan Neal. Unfortunately, Neal wasn’t available but Alex and Charlie are in touch with his mother. I did speak to people over there about Neal’s interest in Oklahoma. Here a few quick things related to OU that I came away with…
– Despite OU’s efforts with Trey Sanders, there is no chance there. He didn’t really sugar coat that one. I don’t think it’s anything against OU, I think it’s just that the only school outside that region he’s really considering is Texas and that one comes from a tie to their running backs coach and another in-state tie.
– OU isn’t in the picture with Noah Cain. That was OU’s choice. Most of you already knew that though.
– Evan Neal’s interest in OU sounds real. When I mentioned Neal while I was there, multiple people immediately indicated there is strong interest there. The OV this weekend will be of great consequence. I don’t know what’s driving that interest but again, I came away thinking, oh OU is an actual dark horse in this one. Could be a bit of a Bookie situation but we’ll see.
Quick Hitters | DGW & Steele

*** K touched base with 2019 DB Chris Steele said he won’t be able to make in for the game
*** 2020 OU DB Commit Darion Green-Warren: K spoke to his father and he let him know that Mater Dei has a playoff game this weekend….same deal as his teammate Elias Ricks so they will not be able to make it in for the weekend for an unofficial.
Sooners Offer JUCO RB Rhamondre Stevenson
– Charlie S
Lots of discussion as to what exactly the Sooners plans are for the running back this cycle and now, the situation becomes a little more clear. Super K will have more on that below.
OU has extended an offer to JUCO running back Rhamondre Stevenson out of Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA.
The Sooners currently have Marcus Major committed in the 2019 class and hold the verbal commitments from Jase McClellan and Jaylan Knighton.
Picking up a JUCO running back would make sense in regards to providing some depth next year as both Rodney Anderson and Marcelias Sutton will be leaving the program.
Stevenson currently holds offers from BYU, Kansas State, and Utah.

Jonathan Alvarez Retires From Football
– Charlie S
Sooners redshirt senior offensive lineman Jonathan Alvarez has retired from football.
Head Coach Lincoln Riley made the announcement tonight after practice.
“Injuries piled up just a little too high for him, I had a conversation with him and his family, he loves this place more than anybody. He’s been one of our most committed guys we’ve had the last several years. It just got to a point where it crossed a line and it was time.”
Alvarez played in 25 games during his time in Norman, starting 16 of those. He began the 2018 season as the starting center before being replaced by redshirt freshman Creed Humphrey.
We wish him the best going forward!
Bedlam Pregame | Class Is In Session
– The Professor

Today’s lesson is a little different. Instead of perusing statistical data to do an in-depth analysis, and instead of finding key info for the upcoming game, we’re simply going to celebrate the most hilarious thing in all of sports…Bedlam.
Bedlam is the time of year when Oklahoma (and Oklahoma fans) reminds The Cowboys of the history between the two schools. Even as Oklahoma State goes through the greatest era in their program’s history, their Bedlam performance is somehow getting even worse.
Now let’s all bask in the absolute ridiculousness of this series. Pencils ready.

Rhamondre Stevenson & Running Back Recruiting
– Super K
I’ve got a call in to someone over at Cerritos College to speak to them about recent OU JUCO RB offer, Rhamondre Stevenson. We also plan on having someone get out to see him soon, if possible.
But I did speak to a number of people who are familiar with him and the consensus I got back was that the kid is the real dang deal. One person told me when they faced Cerritos, Stevenson actually embarrassed the safety on the team by hurdling him.
What we’re trying to get a sense of is if OU has a pecking order now between Stevenson, Tyrion Davis and Kenny McIntosh. Or perhaps the better question to ask is if that pecking order is going to affect their timeline in accepting a commitment. In other words, are they going to push for Stevenson to commit as soon as possible or do they want to wait and see how things play out with McIntosh and Davis.
***LSU RB commit, Tyrion Davis told us he is definitely taking an official visit to OU. But the only way, I suspect, he flips is if he is sort of forced to by a commitment from John Emery and even then he may stick. Also, while most believe Emery will end up at LSU, I recently heard that Emery’s father actually played at Tennessee. So, that might be something to watch. Either way, OU can recruit Davis but I don’t think I’d push a legitimate target back for the slim chance.
***Kenny McIntosh has some big visits coming up. He has a visit scheduled to Georgia this weekend and Georgia will push hard for him now that Emery is out. I did ask Kenny if he would be back to OU for a second visit and he said he is going to try to but his father told me it doesn’t look like they’ll have a chance to do so.
***Another thing I’d consider here is the fact that the 2020 RB class is stacked with talent and OU is legitimately in the mix for a number of the elite guys. So, a JUCO RB could ultimately make more sense in that you get a talented guy who might be a little more ready to handle college rigor and scheme and you keep you clear your room quicker for the 2020 RBs who will be looking at the numbers in front of them. I can tell you that before it’s all said and done, I think OU is going to have a fight on their hand when it comes to Jaylan Knighton. He was a guy with offers but I think he’s going to be moving up a lot of boards now that people are seeing how he’s developing.
