Open Post | Weekend, May 5th – 7th (UPDATED Friday 10:00 AM)

I will be out of town for the next week or so. Brandon, Ryan and Seth will be holding down the fort. I did want to pass on a few quick notes before I fly out…

Jaylen Waddle: I scouted Ryan Broyles when he was in high school. I also scouted Sterling Shepard. 2018 WR, Jaylen Waddle (Houston, TX) has similar instincts and the natural feel for the game that both Broyles and Shepard had. The difference? Waddle is even more explosive than both.

In my opinion Waddle is the most important WR target the Sooners are after. He will be an absolute menace for opposing teams in the coming years. I’ve seen him on film and I’ve seen him live and I’ve spoken to him quite a bit and everything about him tells me he’s going to have a fantastic college career and end up being a draft pick.

I’m told that the Sooners have been recruiting him very hard as of late. At one time it seemed like a forgone conclusion that he would end up at Texas but with Texas already having a slot WR in the class, I’m told that Waddle is looking elsewhere. Among the schools I’m told he is serious about is TCU, OU, and FSU.

Waddle visited Oklahoma last summer and tells me that he plans on making a return visit this summer. Waddle also told me that he is very aware of how well OU develops the 5’10-6′ type receivers and how frequently those guys get drafted out of OU. – (Super K)

Daniel Carson: A defensive lineman who we haven’t mentioned much but does hold an OU offer is Daniel Carson out of Independence, MO. Carson is another one of these 6’5 260 lb DE/DT prospects that the Sooners are after.

Carson tells me he actually visited OU this past winter for one of the jr days. He said he hopes to make a return visit to OU this summer but if he can’t then expect him to visit in the fall. He also mentioned that he is beginning to narrow his list. He says so far he has visited OU, OSU, KU, Missouri, KSU, Iowa State and Louisville. – (Super K)

Weekend Visitors: Remember that the Sooners will host 2018 (2020 enrollee) QB, Tanner McKee this weekend. But the guy I’m sure the Sooners would really like to impress this weekend is JUCO DT Emmit Gooden who is also expected to visit this weekend. Again, Gooden would be a step towards adding more overall length, height and athleticism to the Sooners defensive line. – (Super K)

– UPDATED: 10:00 AM Friday

2018 WR Treveon Johnson has decommitted from Texas Tech.

Johnson is a guy we’ve mentioned several times. He picked up an offer back in January and has been to Norman already this year. We’ve been told that his parents favor Oklahoma, and were very impressed with their visit.

Johnson is a explosive receiver and plays with violence. He has no current commitment date, but we’ll be keeping an eye on this one. – (Lewis)
