Open Post | Weekend, March 31st – April 2nd

Outside Wide Receiver Recruiting: The Sooners brought in some excellent talent at the receiver position last year. Earlier this week, 2018 WR, Joshua Moore was in town and I had a chance to speak with him face to face. He noted that the Sooners have not been recruiting him as hard as they once were. So, it would seem there are a couple guys that Oklahoma feels they may have a better shot with.

Tommy Bush: 2018 WR, Tommy Bush (Schertz, TX) has the kind of size and speed that the Sooners simply haven’t had in a long time. Bush is a solid 6’4 and put up some impressive numbers at the Regional Opening.

Tommy has been trying to make it up to OU this spring but hasn’t had a chance just yet. He did tell me that he has visited OU before. He and his family made a trip to Norman for a game last season.

Bush told me earlier this week that he doesn’t have a specific ranking for the Sooners but says they are high on his list. The Sooners have a bit of an inside track with Tommy as he has some guys around him that are well connected to OU.

Expect Tommy to get up to Norman in the near future. – (Super K)

Treveon Johnson: 2018 Texas Tech WR commit, Treveon Johnson (Giddings, TX) is high on the Sooners. He made a trip up to Norman this past winter. I checked to confirm if Johnson is still planning on making it up to Norman for the spring game and he said, “Yessir, gotta be there”.

I am told that Johnson’s parents are high on the Sooners and would like to see him end up in Norman. I asked Johnson if a flip is possible next week and he said, “I don’t know”. That sounds like it is possible.

Johnson is close to another 2018 Sooners WR target, Jaquayln Crawford (Rockdale, TX). Crawford is expected to make it to the spring game as well. Landing Johnson should help OU with Crawford. – (Super K)

Team Note | Jordan Parker: I am told that Jordan Parker has been suffering from some kind of an ankle injury. I’m not sure about the severity of it just yet but it does sound like he isn’t practicing.

Again, this is really opening the door for Parnell Motley who is now playing opposite Jordan Thomas with the first team. – (Super K)

Team Note | Christian Daimler: In case you missed it, Sooners OT, Christian Daimler announced that he will transfer after the spring…

I am told that his likely landing spot is Texas A&M. I checked with a source on why Daimler decided to transfer and the source said simply, “he wasn’t getting reps with the 1s”.

More on the Offensive Line: We’ve previously noted that the offensive line has looked as physical as it’s been in a long time.

One source close to the program said that as of now the best guess at the depth chart would be: Orlando, Cody Ford, Eric Wren, Dru Samia and Bobby Evans. Behind them would be Quinn Mittermeier, Ben Powers, Creed Humphry (the true freshman is really impressing we’ve been told), Dalton and Swenson. – (Super K)

Team Note | In Place of Obo: As Obo continues to rehab the guy who has emerged in his place is Mark Jackson. I’m told the Sooners are mixing up the fronts but Jackson has his hand in the dirt quite a bit.

Team Note | Kyler Murray: Another guy I’ve heard high praise for is quarterback, Kyler Murray. A source said, “he’s doing some special things. If it was a clean slate and we didn’t already know what Baker could do and they were really competing, he’d give Baker a run for his money. I’ve seen him split linemen and they run into each other. He’s fast. He scrambles around and throws dimes in the back in the end zone.” – (Super K)
