Trending | Sooners Standing Out for 2025 WR Adrian Wilson
– CJ Vogel – Posted on: June 5, 2023

I was able to exchange messages with 2025 Pflugerville Weiss WR Adrian Wilson late last night following a busy weekend involving two campus visits – one to Norman and the other down to Austin.

Off the bat, I got the sense the Sooners made a massive jump in this recruitment and should be viewed as the team to beat currently. This was the second trip to Norman for the high-flying playmaker after he originally visited for the Future Freaks event.

Wilson was able to spend time with new WR coach Emmett Jones during the trip and came away with very high remarks.

“He is a great coach,” Wilson said. “I got to see him coach first hand. Great guy.”

For those wondering, Texas is not a threat at the moment. Wilson left campus once again without an offer.

The spring season and 7v7 circuit was massive for Wilson’s recruitment as his stock soared with a viral moment seemingly every week.

The Sooners are the top team in the recruitment at the moment. If a decision comes soon, it would be to Oklahoma. Though, that is the question remaining at the moment – will an announcement come soon?

The 2025 in-state crop of wide receivers is loaded in the state of Texas and Wilson is near the top of the bunch. Sooners doing a great job at the moment and are trending currently for the CenTex star.

Taylor Tatum | Follow-up to Weekend Trending Post
– Super K – Posted on: June 5, 2023

As you know, this past weekend, we noted (HERE) that going into the USC visit, we felt Lincoln and the Trojans led for 2024 RB Taylor Tatum (Longview, TX).

I said the following…

“***If I put a trending pick in today, I’d give it to USC at about 55.232 (some of you complained that I was only going out two decimal places in my Terry trending post).

***I would actually put that trending pick a little higher for USC if I felt like Tatum had a long runway to make his decision. But, again, because I believe he’s only going to have two or maybe three weeks to make his decision, I could very well see a scenario where the USC window closes and the door opens wider for OU.

***Hoping to find out this week how Tatum’s USC OV went and I’ll adjust here if necessary.

Tatum returned from his USC official visit, yesterday. I have been checking around and I think I’m going to adjust my trending pick upward a bit.

I’ll go USC 72.33.

5-star TE Could Help Sooner Than Expected | Trending
– Super K – Posted on: June 6, 2023

As you know, the Sooners have been recruiting 2025 5-star TE, Davon Mitchell out of California by way of Texas.

I spoke to a source out in California and heard…

***That Davon Mitchell is planning on reclassifying as a 2024 player and an announcement regarding it should happen sometime this summer towards the end of the summer.

***Am also told that the prevailing thought on the west coast is that the Sooners are in the top spot.

Going to go ahead and put this one trending for the Sooners at 60%.

Update | ’24 WR Ivan Carreon
– Charlie S – Posted on: June 6, 2023

Last week the Sooners had ’24 WR Ivan Carreon up to camp and hosted him for an unofficial visit.

Carreon (6’6 195) is a Texas Tech Commit and has been since December 1st, 2022. Why is the date important? Because Sooners wide receiver coach Emmett Jones was the wide receiver coach at Texas Tech at the time.

I caught up with Carreon following his visit and offer and while he is understandably a bit guarded with his info right now, he did tell me that he would like to take an official visit to OU. Whether that comes off in the early summer or July is still a bit up in the air, but if OU continues to pursue here, I expect that visit to take place. I’m not quite ready to put a trending pick in here as we need to see how aggressive OU will be, but I think if they push, they will be able to make a big move.

As far as the offer to Carreon, I think we have had you all in a pretty good position to understand the why’s of the offer as we have had you out front of things with Bryant Wesco and you have known for a few weeks now that things were not tracking well for the Sooners on that front. I know there are rumors out there about Wesco ‘working to set up a visit for July with OU’ but that really doesn’t hold water with me because there is only one weekend in July that you can visit…not a lot of ‘work’ to be done, you are either gonna visit or you aren’t. Not a lot of logistics to figure out.

The Sooners currently have Zion Kearney and KJ Daniels committed in the ’24 class at receiver and as I noted previously, they are set to host Zion Ragins this weekend.

If OU pushes and eventually gets the flip from Carreon, a potential WR class of Kearney, Daniels, Carreon and Ragins would be pretty salty and give you a little bit of everything…speed, size, accomplished, and polished route runner.

Wesco and Mitchell | The ups and the Downs
– Super K – Posted on: June 6, 2023

***Sooners WR target, Bryant Wesco has announced his commitment to Clemson. As you know we’ve had him trending away from the Sooners for about a month now and my most recent trending pick from Monday morning was 30/70 advantage to the field.

So, the Sooners missing here doesn’t come as a big surprise.

***But on a positive note, Sooners 5-star TE target, Davon Mitchell dropped the following…

As you know, this morning we reported that sources had indicated to us that Mitchell is likely to reclassify as a 2024 prospect. We also reported that sources are indicating the Sooners are out front in this one. To see the previous report, check HERE.

Notes on a few of the Weekend Visitors
– Super K – Posted on: June 7, 2023

***Kobe Black – Haven’t felt great about the Sooners chances with Kobe Black for a while. I think the relationship with the family is strong but a lot of the buzz down here in Texas has been Black to Texas. We shall see if this can turn things in OU’s favor.

***Eli Bowen – Charlie added Bowen to the list for this weekend as we are expecting him to make it up to Norman. There has been recent talk of his interest in Texas given he’s expected to be in Austin next week.

I’ve asked around about this and was offered this explanation. Essentially was told that Bowen isn’t particularly in love with the fact that analysts and fans assume he’s simply going to follow in his brother’s footsteps and end up at OU. I think he wants to tread his own path. I’m not saying he won’t end up at OU but I think it’s probably best folks let him go through his process without pontificating too much.

Either way, good for the Sooners to have him back on campus.

***Grant Brix (2024 OT out of Logan, IA) – Don’t know a ton about Brix but I do get the sense not a lot of teams up in the Midwest are pushing for him. Have been told neither Iowa or ND are pushing. So, if OU sees something they like, I imagine they can put themselves in the thick of this one.

***Eugene Brooks (2024 OL out of Chatsworth, CA) – Spoke with a source close to Brooks and was told the Sooners are very much in this one. Right now I gather it will be a Red River battle between the Sooners and Texas.

***Zion Ragins (2024 WR out of Gray, GA) – Ragins is a burner but he’s not the biggest guy and I’m told that that’s caused a number of schools in the SE to cool on him. He’s a bit down the list for regional schools. But Sooner fans know how these small blazing fast WRs can be a nightmare for opposing offenses. So, I think wisely, Emmett is trying to add him to OU’s arsenal.

The Sooners can land Ragins. Whether they can sign him will probably depend on what schools like Tennessee, UGA and other big time regional schools decide to do.

***Marcelles Williams (2024 DB out of Bellflower, CA) – Sooners got Williams on campus earlier in the spring and hit a home run. They immediately put themselves in his top group. Sources indicate that Williams is down to USC and Oklahoma. If the pick was today, I believe it would be USC so Oklahoma will need a great visit.

2024 Pass Rusher Chris Jackson | Set to Return
– Super K – Posted on: June 8, 2023

Sooners are in pursuit of 2024 DE, Chris (CJ) Jackson out of Tucker (GA).

As we reported prior to his recent visit, Jackson told us that he would be in Norman last weekend for an unofficial. He did indeed make it in and he loved the visit.

Jackson tells me he already set to return to OU for the BBQ in July.

Jackson isn’t the highest rated guy (I think that will change) but this is another good eval by Oklahoma. Watching this guy on film and his pass rush ability – really really good bend around the corner – is fantastic. It doesn’t surprise me to see that teams like Alabama have been kicking the tires on Jackson.

Also, worth noting that Jackson’s visit next month for the BBQ will be yet another unofficial. So, he will still have his official available for the season.

Again, another good eval by this staff.

Sooners Make the cut for Bennett Warren and Daniel Cruz
– Super K – Posted on: June 8, 2023

***OU’s 2024 4-star OL target, Bennett Warren (Fort Bend Christian Academy) dropped his top four schools which included OU, Tennessee, Michigan and TAMU.

Warren will be in Norman next weekend for his official visit.

Per Warren’s coach, Bennett plans on making a decision in July. So, OU will know their fate fairly soon.

Not ready to trend this one but if I did, I’d give a slight edge to OU.

***Sooners also made the top four for another Texas offensive line target, 2024 4-star Daniel Cruz (Richland).

Cruz tells me he will be in Norman for a visit next weekend, as well.

Also, like Bennett, Cruz says he plans on announcing his decision in July, as well.

So, again, the Sooners will know their fate in short order.
