Quick Hitter | The Mini Tweet Storm from Earlier This Week
– Charlie S

As many of you have noted, earlier this week, a group of #LincUp21 commits put on a bit of a Twitter display…

2021 EDGE Clayton Smith…

2021 WR Mario Williams…

2021 WR Cody Jackson…

2021 OL Cullen Montgomery…

Obviously, they were sending a message.

I checked in with a source and was told that the commits were in fact referring to an addition to the class in the ‘near future’.

Now you all are going to want me to define ‘near future’ and give you hints about the player they were referencing…all I am comfortable adding at this point is that the recruit in question is not a new name to you and we have covered him pretty thoroughly.

As for the timeline…you have entered a pretty wide open two-week window here where things could happen at any time.

Fireworks | Recruiting on the 4th and Beyond
– Super K

To piggyback off of what Charlie noted, I spoke with a source regarding Caleb Williams and his commitment date which we all know is July 4th.

Source I spoke with said that while, as Williams alluded to, there could be an additional commitment or two on the fourth, it’s really more about what happens after the fourth.

In other words, the feeling is that once Caleb publicly announces the flood gates could open. One source actually said that while initially, the Sooners were sending Williams lists of guys to recruit, now, it seems every time he speaks with the staff Williams has a new guy he has found for the Sooners to recruit.

We were first to mention the “Caleb Williams effect”. If you want to review what I initially wrote about that back in March, check this out. But the bottom line here is the feeling around the office is that once Caleb actually announces, the flood gates could open.

More on the Momentum That is Building | Quick Hitter
– Charlie S

Keeping it on today’s topic (Tuesday on the Donor Board) of the potential momentum that is building for the Sooners #LincUp21 class…

***Touched base with yet another source to confirm what we have been hearing about the mini tweet storm from OU commits last night and source said “Let’s just say OU fans are gonna love these next few weeks”

***Again, this is coming from a completely different source than the earlier posts this morning, who has direct knowledge of last night’s activities and source indicated once again that not only will the 4th of July be special, but the days and weeks around that date should be enjoyable as well.

Snippet from: Wednesday Notebook | WR Notes
– James Hale

Four-star wide receiver Keon Coleman (6’4, 185) of Opelousas (Opelousas Catholic School) has come out with a top three.

So, being the curious type, I’m wondering why, what looks like such a wonderful talent, he’s down to the mighty Sooners, which makes sense, but then the lowly Jayhawks and Gamecocks of South Carolina. He does have offers from Georgia, Auburn, Baylor, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Texas A&M to name a few.

OU always seems to try to recruit wide receivers that are anywhere from 5-foot-10 to the max at 6-foot-2 and usually when they get receivers taller than that things don’t work out for them. It’s weird I know but think Jeffrey Mead or Dallis Todd and you get my drift. With Mead, we got a taste of what he could do on a play or two but he could never seriously settle in and become a great player. Todd never really fired and didn’t last at OU.

I don’t think Opelousas Catholic School had a great quarterback last year but make no mistake about it when Coleman gets the ball in his hands he puts on a show.

Currently, OU has two committed wide receivers on the board in four-star Mario Williams (5’10, 165) of Plant City, Florida, and four-star Cody Jackson (6’0, 175) of Richmond (Foster), Texas and it would be surprising if OU did not sign two more. I mean Coach Riley does love his receivers.

OU really likes four-star J. Michael Sturdivant (6’2, 183) of Flower Mound (Marcus), Texas and who can blame them. Last year Sturdivant dominated the prep ranks catching 87 passes for 1,125 yards and ten touchdowns. In May, Sturdivant came out with a top-four.

The Sooners also have a great chance at landing four-star receiver Jalil Farooq (6’1, 200) of Upper Marlboro (Dr. Henry Wise), Maryland. We know that he often throws with five-star QB prospect Caleb Williams (6’2, 209) of Washington DC (Gonzaga) and they talk often. Some out there feel that Farooq is a lean to Ohio State, but Williams is not talking to him about being a Buckeye. Alabama, Georgia, and Maryland are also in the mix, but if Williams picks OU on July 4th I can’t see Farooq not following his buddy to OU. `

As K pointed out recently, OU remains in contention for the nation’s top-rated receiver in Emeka Egbuka (6’1, 190) of Steilacoom, Washington. Most see Egbuka going to Ohio State but he’s another that talks to Williams and even though he still may become a Buckeye, but once July 4th hits if Williams does what we expect I wouldn’t put it past any wide receiver wanting to play with him at OU.

Quick-Hitters | Coleman & Turner
– Super K

***Earlier today, James mentioned 2021 WR, Keon Coleman who recently had the Sooners in his top three along with Kansas and South Carolina.

I did check with a source and was told that Coleman is a take for OU. I don’t have a final word on his choice but man, OU vs South Carolina and Kansas?

***Also, checked with a source regarding 2021 4-star OLB/DE, Dallas Turner (St. Thomas Aquinas). Turner took a virtual visit to OU and obviously has ties to Oklahoma via Nik Bonitto and Jaden Davis.

Turner released his top five, recently and noted that he will announce a decision on July 1st.

Per my source it does sound like Alabama is the likely landing spot.

Source said, “Jordan Battle’s dad was his basketball coach. Pat Surtain coached him in football. And, Jason Taylor is his D line coach now, who played for Saban. Kid has a Lott of Bama in his ear. I’d say 90% chance”.

***Not a huge blow for Oklahoma considering they’ve already got two DE/OLB types in this class. In fact, that would actually perhaps take a spot at Bama and the Sooners are competing with them for another OLB type in Jeremiah Williams (Birmingham, AL). Williams is a guy Caleb Williams has been recruiting hard. Williams told me that his virtual visit to OU was the best.

Trending | Defensive Recruiting | 2021 Linebacker Prince Kollie
– Super K

Checked in with 2021 LB, Prince Kollie (Jonesborough, TN). He recently took a virtual visit to Oklahoma and told me it was one of the best he’s taken.

Kollie recently released his Top 5 which included OU.

Starting to get word that this one could be heating up a bit for OU so I’m going to go ahead and go out on a limb here and say it’s trending toward OU. It sounds as though the Sooners have really inserted themselves into his recruitment.

Really really like what I’m hearing about what’s happening behind the scenes in defensive recruiting. Think July 4th could really set some nice things in motion (in addition to adding at least one defensive player that day).
