Last week, I was in touch with Sooners 2021 defensive end target Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge who mentioned that he planned on announcing his commitment in December…
*** Last week, 2021 DE offer Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge (6’7″ 240) out of Portland, Oregon, took his virtual visit with the Sooners. I mentioned that he gave the visit good reviews previously but I was not able to get a timeline for his commitment to his choice of schools at that time.
He got back to me over the weekend and let me know that he plans on making his announcement in December…so there is a long way to go in this one.
However, earlier this week, Rawlins-Kibonge announced a change of plans as he tweeted out that he would be making his commitment on June 17th…
I have touched base with K and we believe this to be a good sign for Oklahoma.
If Rawlins-Kibonge does in fact pull the trigger for OU on the 17th, new Sooners OLB/DE Coach Jamar Cain will likely be done with his position group and he would have pulled in an exceptional class with Clayton Smith and Rawlins Kibonge.
K touched base with a source and following that discussion, this one definitely appears to be trending to OU.

Quick Hitter | 2021 LB Prince Kollie

Back in April, the Sooners extended an offer to 2021 linebacker Prince Kollie (6’1″ 200) out of Jonesborough, TN
In May, Kollie included Oklahoma in his top 10…
I was able to briefly touch base with Kollie earlier this week and he let me know that Brian Odom and the staff have been making him feel as though he is a priority for them.
When I asked him about where things are at with the Sooners he said “I have good communication with OU. They have been really consistent.”
Kollie is a versatile athlete who is skilled at numerous positions and the Sooners like him at linebacker from what he tells me.
He did not indicate a solid timeline in regards to when he plans on making an announcement and he continues to pick up offers including one from Alabama earlier this month.
Kollie is likely to visit Norman when the opportunity presents itself and we will hopefully have more on him in the near future.

Put together a quick list of names to know on the defensive side of the ball at each position. Just because a recruit is not mentioned does not mean OU is not working on them. I have simply listed the commits and the guys we feel are priorities at each position.
At each position, I have also noted the number of commits we believe OU is looking for. Mind you, that number can (will) change with attrition, and should a guy like Maason Smith or J.T. Tuimoloau all of a sudden want in…obviously OU would do all they can to make that happen.

More on Abiara

As we previously reported on the Donor Board, 2021 DL David Abiara was scheduled to take a virtual visit with Texas this week. I’m told that it is happening this morning (Thursday morning)
Latest we’ve heard is that he will likely announce a final decision on the back end of this month (2-3 weeks from now).
I do get the sense that the Sooners are the clear leader right now. This will be Texas’ shot to change that and the Sooners will just need to hold on.
Top 50 in Texas for 2022

Today, I present the puzzle that I was able to put together so far on the 2022 class.
A few quick thoughts:
***2022 is shaping up to be almost every bit as good as what I thought was a “once in a decade” in the 2021 class. We are in a time in which the state of Texas has never produced so much quality talent in consecutive classes. The Sooners are in a tremendous position to take a major bite out of the Lone Star State.

*** As you can see, Linebackers and Defensive Backs make a big comeback in 2022 in comparison to 2021. The state again has high-end talent in the trenches and it’s a stronger Wide Receiver crop that 2021 as well.
*** LSU already holds commitments from the top two Safeties in the class.
*** Oklahoma holds a commit from the top LB and sit in a good position for numerous players on this list, including the top player overall.

DT’s 2022 Texas Top 50 (2022)
*Five Stars*
1. Quinn Ewers QB 6’3 195 Southlake (Carroll HS)
Analysis: I’ve seen Ewers in person twice now and he’s been impressive both times. He has tremendous pocket presence for his age, moving around comfortably in traffic while keeping his eyes downfield. Displays some impressive poise in his body language at all times. He has natural arm talent that can’t be taught and he understands touch. Ewers is extremely accurate and has the ability to move the chains with his legs, although I wouldn’t consider him a true Dual-Threat at the position. At this early stage, there isn’t another QB in the class right now in-state that compares. Ewers will likely maintain his lofty status long past high school and in my opinion, he has obvious 1st Round potential barring any major setbacks.
Recruitment Status: Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan. Oklahoma is widely considered the current leader for his services.
Stats: MaxPreps Sophomore of the Year. 5-6A MVP.

2. Denver Harris CB 6’0 185 Houston (North Shore HS)
Analysis: Harris looks like an NFL Cornerback already. He’s the prototype from a Height/Weight/Speed standpoint at 15/16 years old. This one is pretty simple, he has the ability to be left on an island and profiles as one of the top overall players in the class. Elite prospect.
Recruitment Status: There are some that believe that Texas is the favorite for Harris. Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, and Oklahoma will have something to say about that.
Stats: 1st-Team 21-6A
Highlights: Denver Harris
3. Devon Campbell OL 6’3 275 Arlington (Bowie HS)
Analysis: Let me start off by saying that I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Offensive Lineman on tape outrunning the skills guys while trying to make block downfield until I turned this kid’s clips on. Incredible. Campbell also makes plays in the paint for the Bowie Basketball team. He is freakishly strong, taking numerous guys off of their feet with a single push. Just imagine what this guy is going to look like a few years from now. He has the foot quickness, flexibility, and athleticism to play any spot along the Offensive front and he is the premier 2022 OL prospect in the class.
Recruitment Status: LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas are a tier above Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State currently in my opinion.
Stats: 4-6A Sophomore of the Year
Highlights: Devon Campbell
4. Kobie McKinzie LB 6’3 230 Lubbock (Cooper HS)
Analysis: McKinzie is already the size of a prototypical NFL MIKE Linebacker at 6’3 230 lbs. He is a true sideline-to-sideline pursuer of the football and packs quite a punch when he arrives at the ballcarrier. What makes McKinzie special, besides his obvious physical gifts, are his football instincts. His ability to quickly diagnose plays makes him a screen-game connoisseur. He is a turnover machine in the passing game playing the lanes as well as in the run-game forcing fumbles. I think that he will be able to maintain his athleticism despite the weight gain that will come in college. Reminding these eyes of shades of a young Rolando McClain, McKinzie looks like a rare nationally elite prospect at the Linebacker position. 5-star talent.
Recruitment Status: Committed to Oklahoma

5. Ernest “R.J.” Cooper DE 6’5 220 Arlington (Martin HS)
Analysis: One thing I notice about Cooper is that he always seems to be on balance. He keeps at base at all times and is always under control. He plays with some controlled violence. I was really impressed with how well he uses his hands at this stage to disengage from blocks. He has excellent length with a motor to match. Cooper is athletic enough to play as an overhang LB in a 3-4 front in my opinion. Excellent prospect on and off the field.
Recruitment Status: Stanford is a big player here. Cooper is also interested in Texas, Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn, and Oklahoma.

6. Armani Winfield WR 6’2 180 Lewisville HS
Analysis: Winfield has been recognized as one of the top Receivers in the class for over a year now, as evidenced by his very impressive offer list. He’s rangy, which gives him the illusion of being even bigger than his listed size. Winfield has the best blend of size, speed, and route running ability in what is a truly outstanding in-state Wide Receiver crop. Another 5-star in my eyes.
Recruitment Status: Oklahoma is the leader here. Winfield is also considering Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Texas, Florida, Auburn, and USC.
Stats: Unanimous 1st-Team All-6A.

7. Omari Abor DE 6’4 245 Duncanville HS
Analysis: I think he has a lot of similarities to top 2021 DL prospect Shemar Turner. Abor is already weighing nearly 250 lbs. While his school moves him around and he has the ability to play in space, he may ultimately end up profiling as an uber-athletic interior Defensive Lineman in a few years.
Recruitment Status: Abor grew up an Oklahoma fan, but there will be very strong competition from programs like Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, and TCU for his signature.
Stats:8-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year
Highlights: Omari Abor
8. Malick Sylla DE 6’5 220 Katy HS
Analysis: Sylla is a physical freak that also competes in the 200m dash for the Katy HS Varsity, despite his age and size. A legitimate 6’5 220+ already, Sylla is still learning, but he flashes some game-wrecking ability from his Defensive End position at times. He has tremendous length, is flexible enough to bend corners, and has the motor to fight through double teams and get involved in backside pursuit. I think he has Ezekiel Ansah type upside, which would give him possibly the highest potential in the class.
Recruitment Status: LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Oregon, Baylor, Auburn, Penn State
Highlights: Malick Sylla
9. Bryan Allen Jr. S 6’0 180 Aledo HS
Analysis: Allen is a versatile playmaker that has the ability to play both in the box in run support and as a single-high Safety roaming the deep thirds, which is rare. He’s a sure tackler and can roll down to cover Slot Receivers. Very impressive young prospect. Allen versus Bryce Anderson for the top Safety position in the class will be a heated battle for the next two seasons.
Recruitment Status: Committed to LSU

10. Harold Perkins LB 6’2 195 Cypress (Cy Park HS)
Analysis: Perkins is a stud that checks every box that you look for in a modern-day Linebacker. He’s extremely athletic, with the ability to get skinny to defeat blocks or to win with power. Perkins is at his best being disruptive in the backfield, but he also has the ability to cover any Running Back or Tight End.
Recruitment Status: SEC, Oklahoma, and Texas
Stats: 14-6A Newcomer of the Year. 46 tkls (10 TFL), 5 sacks, 7 PBU (1 int)
Highlights: Harold Perkins
11. Jaydon Blue RB 5’9 195 Klein (Cain HS)
Analysis: This guy is a natural runner of the football. He shows an understanding of how to change speeds to set up blocks and defenders and makes moves with his next counter already in mind. Blue consistently runs through contact and explodes through arm tackles on his highlights. The clips are particularly impressive because there weren’t huge holes for him to run through. He had to squeeze through creases and elude guys in small spaces forward and laterally before he could show what he has in the open field. Blue has terrific balance. He doesn’t get asked to catch the ball much in his high school offense, but Blue shows off some impressive hands and route-running ability for his 7on7 team in the spring and summer. He’s the top back in the class right now for me.
Recruitment Status: Texas and LSU are two of the early favorites for Blue and OU is lurking.

12. Cameron Williams OT 6’6 320 Duncanville HS
Analysis: Big man is a beast. I’ve been able to watch Williams grow as a prospect for the past 4-5 years now. This past season was just the second that he has focused exclusively on Football (Basketball was his first love). At a legitimate 6’6 with a wingspan that is in the 7’0 range, Williams has NFL size as a high schooler.
Recruitment Status: Offers from Ohio State, LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan, USC, TCU, Nebraska, Miami, Florida State, and Oregon.
Stats: 8-6A Newcomer of the Year
Highlights: Cameron Williams
13. Kelvin Banks Jr. OT 6’5 285 Houston (Summer Creek HS)
Analysis: Banks is a big boy. He’s a legitimate 6’4 at 15-16 years old and he has the length that coaches desire at the Tackle position. I like his feet, he’s light on them and does a surprisingly good job of keeping a base in pass protection. He has some bad habits, but there is a LOT to like about Banks as a prospect early. He has a chance to be really, really good.
Recruitment Status: Committed to Oklahoma State
Stats: 1st Team 22-6A

14. Kameron Dewberry OL 6’4 300 Humble (Atascocita HS)
Analysis: Dewberry has been a big name on the recruiting scene since his Freshman season and his offer list reflects that. He has seemingly every big boy program in college football after his services. Dewberry lacks prototypical height, but he makes up for it with an impressive reach and strong hands. I think that his feet are slightly above average compared to a few other guys and I do believe that his highest upside could possibly be on the interior. When he is engaged he is one of the top players in this in-state crop.
Recruitment Status: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ohio St., Texas, Penn St., Virginia Tech. Texas A&M is the rumored leader.
Stats: MaxPreps Sophomore All-American
Highlights: Kameron Dewberry
15. Jaylon Guilbeau CB 6’0 175 Port Arthur (Memorial HS)
Analysis: Guilbeau has jackhammer feet with the ability to explode out of his backpedal and drive on the football. He has the desired size that the experts covet and he is a solid tackler. He is one of the premier cover guys in the class and will have his choice from any school across the country.
Recruitment Status: Alabama, Oregon, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, Oklahoma St.
Stats: 1st Team All 9-5A
Highlights: Jaylon Guilbeau
16. Bryce Anderson S 6’0 180 Beaumont (Westbrook HS)
Analysis: Pound-for-pound, Anderson is one of the best players in the state regardless of class. He stars at Quarterback for his school and plays on the defensive side of the ball in crunch time. Anderson has tremendous instincts and ball skills. He’s most comfortable playing Center Field, but projects to have the ability to play in the Nickel as well. Reminds me of 2019 Arkansas signee Jalen Catalon.
Recruitment Status: Committed to LSU
Stats: MaxPreps All-American. 21-6A Sophomore of the Year.
Highlights: Bryce Anderson
17. Tavorus Jones RB 6’0 180 El Paso (Burges HS)
Analysis: Jones is a little bit tough to evaluate, he makes it look too easy. His competition out in El Paso isn’t very good, but it’s hard to punish a guy for doing what he’s supposed to do against inferior competition. Jones looks to have elite acceleration with good top-end speed to finish long runs at the next level. He makes some seriously impressive catches on tape in addition to his ability as a runner. Jones is big-time.
Recruitment Status: Texas was his first offer and Alabama offered shortly thereafter. I think Texas has a really good chance here early.
Stats: 2-5A Athlete of the Year. 116 car/1,134 yds/15 TD — 33rec/438yds/5TD

18. Keithian “Bear” Alexander DT 6’4 330 Dallas (Skyline HS)
Analysis: Alexander was the first Defensive name to really start grabbing headlines in the 2022 class about a year ago after starring as a Freshman at Terrell High School. He lost his Sophomore year due to a UIL ruling after transferring to Dallas Skyline last spring. Alexander has shocking agility and quickness for a kid that is as massive as he is. He could play the Nose or he could be a 1-tech in an even front. Alexander, like most kids as heavy as he is at his age, will have to be extremely careful about how much bigger he gets. By all accounts, he is in great shape right now. It’ll be interesting to see what he looks like in the once Signing Day is here a year and a half from now.
Recruitment Status: Alexander has early offers from everyone.
Highlights: (Freshman Season Highlights) Bear Alexander
19. Randy Masters ATH 6’0 175 Pearland (Shadow Creek)
Analysis: Masters is a bad, bad man. He was the most explosive player for the offense of a team that went 16-0 on the way to a state championship at the highest classification in Texas, despite minimal touches. He is fluid in and out of his breaks and possesses the ability to make guys miss with ease once he has the ball in his hands. Masters is a two-way threat that could also wind up in the Defensive Backfield.
Recruitment Status: Early offers from LSU, Florida, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee and SMU
Stats: 20 rec/356yds/5TD
Highlights: Randy Masters
20. Caleb Burton WR 5’10 165 Del Valle HS
Analysis: Burton is electric. His size and frame suggest that he’ll likely spend most of his time in the slot at the next level, but he’s got the athleticism and versatility to play both inside and outside. Dynamite player after the catch.
Recruitment Status: Burton is believed to be fond of Oklahoma early in his recruitment.
Stats: 1st Team 24-6A

21. Chace Biddle S 6’0 180 Garland HS
Analysis: Biddle plays both ways for his high school team but he almost assuredly will be spending his time on the defensive side of the ball in college. Biddle appears to be moving at a different speed than every else once he diagnoses what’s going on. One of the better tacklers I’ve seen in the class, regardless of position. Biddle has picked up early offers from both Texas and Oklahoma.
Recruitment Status: He and teammate WR Jordan Hudson could end up being a package deal.
Stats: 43 tkls (1 TFL)/2 PBU

22. Dylan Frazier DE 6’5 235 McKinney (North HS)
Analysis: I have to give CJ Vogel a shout out for this one, he first sent me Frazier’s tape a few months ago. Frazier is a multisport athlete (Basketball) who has athletic traits that translate to any sport. He’s long, with exceptional strength and a motor to match. I may have him too low.
Recruitment Status: Frazier’s older brother, Brandon, signed with Auburn in 2020. I’m inclined to believe that they’re likely a package deal, but we’ll see. He holds early offers from Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and SMU.
Stats: 7-5A Defensive Newcomer of the Year
Highlights: Dylan Frazier
23. Jordan Hudson ATH 6’0 175 Garland HS
Analysis: Hudson is one of a few guys on this list that has the ability to be an impact player at the next level on either side of the ball. As a Wide Receiver, Hudson is a playmaker that shows natural hands and the ability to snap off sharp cuts unlike most human beings. He’s a threat to take it to the house every time he touches it. Defensively, he could realistically play any position in the Secondary, but would likely be best utilized at Safety where he can play Center Field. Texas has offered him as a Defensive Back. He reminds me of Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace.
Recruitment Status: Hudson could end up being a package deal with teammate Chace Biddle.
Stats: 10-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year
Highlights: (vs. Sachse HS) Jordan Hudson
24. Christian Driver S 6’0 180 Argyle (Liberty Christian HS)
Analysis: Driver is the son of former Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Donald Driver. The younger Driver is extremely athletic, with lightning-quick feet. He diagnoses plays quickly and he arrives at the football in a hurry. He’s a stud and will be a national recruit.
Recruitment Status: I would keep an eye out on Notre Dame here.
Highlights: Christian Driver
25. Anthony Black WR 6’4 180 Coppell HS
Analysis: Black is a three-sport star (Football, Basketball, Track) at Coppell High and faces some very solid competition in the DFW metroplex area. He has tremendous body control and shows impressive fluidity for a taller Receiver. He routinely shows off some very good top-end speed on his HUDL, although I’ll be paying close attention to what he looks like as a YAC guy moving forward. His father, Terry, is a former Baylor Basketball player.
Recruitment Status: Baylor is the favorite.
Stats: 47rec/859yds/9TD
Highlights: Anthony Black
26. Julian Humphrey CB 6’1 185 Houston (Clear Lake HS)
Analysis: I’m a big Humphrey fan. He does a terrific job of playing the ball in the air and defending passes without drawing penalties. Humphrey shows comfortability in press coverage and zone coverage. He has good length and has the speed to stay with anyone downfield. He’s got some nice offers early and I expect them to continue to pile up. Humphrey could be a guy that steadily rises on this list.
Recruitment Status: Early offers from Texas A&M, Tennessee, Baylor, USC, Missouri, and Houston
Stats: 1st Team All-District
Highlights: Julian Humphrey
27. Donovan Green TE 6’3 220 Dickinson HS
Analysis: Green is a rarity in the state of Texas. He’s a true two-way Tight End with the ability to contribute both in the passing game and in the running game. He’s fairly developed physically for his age, but Green will likely max out in the 240-250lb range at his peak. He’s the top TE in Texas for my money regardless of classification.
Recruitment Status: Green has offers from everyone. Expect the SEC, Ohio State, Texas and Oklahoma to be the major players for his services.
Stats: MaxPreps Sophomore All-American. 34 rec/615 yards/5 TDs
Highlights: Donovan Green
*Low Four Stars*
28. Trent McGaughey TE 6’3 225 Pearland (Shadow Creek HS)
Analysis: I’m a big fan of this guy. He and Donovan Green are two of the better TE prospects that the state of Texas has produced in recent years. He’s more than willing in the run game, he’s a huge contributor. There are plenty of examples on his film. When given the opportunity, he shows impressive hands with the ability to make things happen after the catch, which is rare for a Tight End. McGaughey’s Father, Thomas, is a coach on the New York Giants staff.
Recruitment Status: McGaughey has a ton of early offers, but he’s missing many of the big dawgs currently. If his school (which is loaded with FBS prospects) can afford him a few more opportunities in the passing game, I think his stock would go through the roof.
Stats: 9 rec/192 yds/2TD
Highlights: Trent McGaughey
29. Cory Hendrix OT 6’5 280 College Station HS
Analysis: This young man didn’t have a recruiting profile on any of the ranking websites when I first wrote about him back in March. He doesn’t have any offers to date, but that will be changing once he gets more exposure. Hendrix is athletic, a natural knee bender, with the ability to get out of his stance in a hurry. He can stick at Tackle. He has a mean streak and can be seen finishing blocks to the whistle repeatedly. Based on where he’s from you have to believe that Texas A&M will be a big factor once they come calling.
Recruitment Status: N/A
Stats: 1st-Team All-District
Highlights: Cory Hendrix
30. Bobby Taylor Jr. DB 6’0 180 Katy HS
Analysis: Taylor’s Father, Bobby Taylor, played 10 seasons in the NFL (Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks) and was an All-Pro selection in 2002 after earning All-American honors at Notre Dame in the 90s. His grandfather, Robert Taylor, won Gold and Silver in the 1972 Olympics while still a student-athlete at Texas Southern. Needless to say, the bloodlines are there in abundance. The younger Taylor spent his Freshman season at Houston Heights before making the switch over to Katy for year two and starting every game for the Tigers. Analysis: Hutson puts guys on their backs over and over on tape. He’s strong and he is nasty. He shows the ability to move in space, break down, and engage smaller targets. He’s a road grader that projects on the inside despite his 6’4 frame. Hutson is still a work in progress in pass protection, but everything is there to be a high caliber FBS player.

32. Jaylen Early OT 6’5 275 Duncanville HS
Analysis: Early oozes potential on tape. His feet are lightning-quick for an Offensive Lineman. Once he is able to get everything in sync, he is going to be hell on wheels in the future. He moves with a purpose, easily sifting to the next level of a defense and engaging smaller defenders. Early isn’t strong at this stage, but I expect the strength will come once he’s able to get in a collegiate program. He and Cameron Williams are the reason that his school felt comfortable moving Savion Byrd to Defense despite being a 5-star OT.

33. Ty Kana ILB 6’1 215 Katy HS
Analysis: Kana looks like a natural to me. He does a terrific job of keeping his shoulders square to the LOS and has very little wasted motion, which is rare for a high school LB. Kana has legitimate size with impressive closing speed to match. He shows no reservations about taking on and shedding blocks. He’s tough and he’s very physical. MIKE all the way. Could be exposed a bit playing on the outside. Kana doesn’t think about anything; his feet follow his eyes to the football. Stud.

34. Justin Medlock LB 6’1 200 Manvel HS
Analysis: Medlock is exciting because his frame suggests that he has a lot of room to get bigger. He has no reservations about taking on blockers and is strong enough to discard Linemen. Medlock does a good job of sifting through traffic and wraps up ballcarriers instead of always going for the big hit. He’s athletic and has the ability to drop into coverage as well. All the signs point to a future high-level FBS prospect and the offers have begun to roll in.

35. Jadarian “JD” Price RB 5’10 175 Denison HS
Analysis: Price is a guy that I’ve wrote about previously on the Texas side, but I really like this kid’s game and he has a tremendous story. Price reminds me a lot of current Oklahoma Running Back Kennedy Brooks in the sense that he doesn’t look like he’s really doing anything special, yet he continuously eats up yardage on a game by game basis. He’s a long-strider with deceptive speed. A starter since his Freshman season, Price is also a standout off of the field.

36. Brenen Thompson ATH 5’10 175 Spearman HS
Analysis: Thompson is from a small town located in the Texas Panhandle, not too far from Gruver, TX, where 2020 Adidas All-American and Oklahoma signee Jalin Conyers was discovered last cycle. This pandemic may have been a blessing in disguise for Thompson, as it allowed coaches to look in places that they normally would not. Thompson is a speed demon, with FAT-verified 10.32 speed at 15/16 years old. He plays QB for his school, but profiles as an electric Nickel Corner and Special Teams weapon in college.
Recruitment Status: Thompson’s stock has blown up recently. He now has offers from everyone.

37. Josh Hoover QB 6’2 205 Rockwall (Heath HS)
Analysis: Hoover’s arm talent stood out to me on tape. I can’t even find a football profile on Hoover, but he’s apparently a well-known name in baseball circles, which explains the aforementioned arm talent. He’s got good size on tape and delivers some dimes into windows regularly. This a kid that I expect to see take off from an offer standpoint very soon. He would be a nightmare in the Big XII.

38. Curlee Thomas DE 6’4 230 Fort Worth (Nolan Catholic HS)
Analysis: Thomas played this past season at Keller Fossil Ridge where he flashed weekly and was the 5-6A Newcomer of the Year. He has since made the move over to Nolan Catholic in Fort Worth, who is building a very impressive list of talent in the 2022 class. Thomas is long and gets after the football relentlessly. It’s only a matter of time before the interest kicks up a couple of notches for him.

39. Bra’lon Jones LB 6’3 210 Spring HS
Analysis: Jones was a “1 minute” guy for me. All I needed was about a minute of his highlights to know he belonged on this list. He looks bigger on tape than his listed size. Jones is big, he is mean, violent, and he can run. There aren’t any clips of him taking on blocks or covering anyone, which does make me pause. He looks like he could have Inside/Outside versatility and profiles as one of the top LBs in the class in my mind despite not having any much as far as early offers.
Recruitment Status: Baylor and Central Michigan are early offers

Highlights: Bra’lon Jones
40. Jordan Crook LB 5’11 215 Duncanville HS
Analysis: Crook likes to be called an ATH and his previous school (Bishop Dunne) certainly used him that way. He figures to settle in on the defensive side of the ball exclusively now that he’s at Duncanville and that’s where he projects best at the next level. He’s extremely comfortable in space which is a premium skill in today’s game. Crook is physical and seeks contact on every snap. He has the ability to drop into coverage and can create turnovers on errant passes in his area. The only real knock on Crook is a lack of prototypical height/length. He’s a heck of a football player.

41. Emeka Megwa RB 6’0 210 Fort Worth (Nolan Catholic HS)
Analysis: Megwa is a guy whose name has been a popular one with recruiting junkies for over a year. He has offers from all of the national powers. He’s a bit of a man amongst boys at the private school level in Texas. He is very filled out and thickly built to be so young, bringing about some slight concerns about his long-term potential and flexibility. He’s a do-it-all type that can be effective in all three phases (running, catching, blocking).

Analysis: Curtis was a playmaker this past season for one of the powerhouse 5A programs in the state. He shows an array of pass rush moves with the ability to counter once his initial move is stymied, which is uncommon at this level. He’s athletic, with the ability to play in space and foot speed to stay involved in backside pursuit. He has plenty of room to fill out in the future. I think Curtis fits best in a 4-man front but will be athletic enough to stand up in a 3-man front as an OLB. I’m high on Curtis and his upside.

43. Jalon Peoples CB 6’1 175 Red Oak HS
Analysis: Peoples has legitimate size with long limbs and the ability to match up with all big-bodied Wide Receivers, which is a skillset that is at a premium. He is competitive and shows an ability to make plays on the ball when he is able to play off-coverage. I do question his top-end speed a bit and wonder what he would look like as a 1-High Safety. Peoples is a rock-solid prospect.

44. Cardell Williams QB 6’2 170 Houston (Westfield HS)
Analysis: I’m fairly surprised that this guy is flying under the radar like he is. Williams plays for a powerhouse 6A program in Texas and put up impressive numbers on his way to 16-6A Newcomer of the Year honors as a Sophomore. Williams isn’t much of a runner and has a slight frame, which could be part of the concern. Accuracy numbers will be looking to take a jump from year one as a starter to year two. He drops some beautiful dimes on his HUDL.
Recruitment Status: Williams has early offers from hometown Houston and William & Mary.

45. Evan Stewart WR 6’0 170 Frisco (Liberty HS)
Analysis: Stewart is explosive in and out of his breaks and has the ability to stop and start effortlessly. He’s a nuanced route-runner with good hands. He has good speed and the ability to make plays with the ball in his hands.

46. Savion Red WR 5’10 210 Grand Prairie HS
Analysis: Red has a unique build in comparison to the other players at his position. He’s built like a Running Back or even a Linebacker, but Red has the speed to win foot races and plays with an aggressive demeanor on the offensive side of the ball. I think that he has the potential to make an impact in a number of ways and could be a swiss-army knife type of weapon for a creative offensive mind. His offer list will look very different a few months from now. If Baylor is offering a Wide Receiver early, you know he’s a baller.

47. Ma’Leeyon Winfield WR/6’4 200 Dallas (Skyline HS)
Analysis: The two Winfields on this list are of no relation. While Armani is a smooth, do-it-all type, Ma’leeyon is an Outside WR all the way. He’s every bit of the listed 6’4 and he shows the ability to get in and out of cuts better than you’d expect. Winfield has some top-end speed too. With all of that being said, it may not matter too much because his frame suggests that he’s going to only get bigger and could eventually be a spin-down candidate. He’s definitely more prospect than player at this stage, but the potential is there for a big-time player if he’s able to put it all together.

Highlights: Ma’Leeyon Winfield
48. Devyn Bobby DB 6’0 175 DeSoto HS
Analysis: Bobby has fluid hips and shows the ability to close on the ball in coverage at an elite level. His fluidity allows him to be utilized at in every position in the Secondary if need be. He shows no reservations in run support and has a frame that will carry 200 lbs. in the future. Under-the-radar prospect that will be a steal for someone. Take a look at the HUDL below.

49. Austin Jordan CB 6’0 185 Denton (Ryan HS)
Analysis: Jordan already has the body of a collegiate athlete. He competes on Denton Ryan’s track team and is a member of a 4×100 relay that was a State Finalist last year. Jordan took some lumps this year in his debut season, but he also put plenty of things on tape to get coaches and recruiting analysts excited. His offer list speaks for itself.
Recruitment Status: Texas is the perceived early leader. Holds offers from Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Georgia among others.
Stats: 4-5A Defensive Newcomer of the Year
Highlights: Austin Jordan
50. Cade Klubnik QB 6’1 180 Austin (Westlake HS)
Analysis: I had a blast watching this guy’s clips. He’s not big (I question the 180lbs), but Klubnik is a flat-out gamer who has plenty of room to fill out physically over the coming years. Despite this upcoming season being his first as the full-time starter, he already holds multiple P5 offers. From everything I’ve heard about him, he’s hyper-competitive and has an alpha leader type of personality. Klubnik has a nice set of wheels and shows the ability on tape to deliver accurate strikes while on the move. He’s as the closest thing to a true Dual-Threat that I’ve seen so far in this class and I expect for him to make a big jump when I update this list in a few months.
