– Jalen Redmond: We all saw what went down at Ole Miss yesterday with the resignation of their head coach, Hugh Freeze. A player that hails from the Magnolia State, but plays ball at Midwest City (OK), is Jalen Redmond. Redmond has always said that he has interest in Ole Miss, having family there and being born in Mississippi. Redmond has also said that he wants to take his visits, and Ole Miss was almost assuredly one of those visits, along with OU, Nebraska, and few other. This news is something that needs to be watched with Redmond’s recruitment. That said, I mostly feel that OU is in a really good spot for the elite OLB/DE from the Sooner State. Redmond will be at the BBQ later on next week, and with Redmond’s mom strongly in Oklahoma’s corner, that might be something to watch. We hope to speak more with Redmond shortly after his visit to OU next week. – (Brandon)
– Jase McClellan: 2020 is a long way away, but when you see a talent like Jase McClellan, you can’t help but be excited if you’re a Sooners fan. McClellan is already one of the top running backs in the state of Texas, and he is just now going into his sophomore year. McClellan was the star in the Aledo (TX) playoff run this past season. He already holds an OU offer, and will be in attendance at the Sooners BBQ next weekend. With Oklahoma’s tradition at the running back position, McClellan stated that he is really interested in OU in our short conversation. He is a name that will be one to know going forward, and might be the best running back to come out of Texas in the last five years.- (Brandon)
– BBQ visitors: As noted above, Jase McClellan will be in attendance at the BBQ. Additionally, our own Alex King has confirmed that 2019 Rockwall (TX) ATH Anfernee Orji will be in attendance at the BBQ. It will be interesting to see if his brother, Alston Orji, will be in attendance as well. Alston is committed to Vanderbilt, but he was a guy that had OU high on his list before choosing Vandy. If Alston does make it to Norman, that could be something to watch very closely.
Also, 2018 Arlington Lamar HS (Arlington, TX) defensive tackle, Bobby Brown, says he will be in attendance for the BBQ. Brown is becoming a very hot commodity on the recruiting trail, with Alabama and OU really pushing for his services. Brown is originally from South Carolina, so he has no regional bias here. That said, Brown has tweeted a ton of pro-OU stuff in the last week or two, so you can tell that OU and defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux have really been recruiting him hard. Brown would be a huge get for the Sooners, so getting to catch up with him after the BBQ is something we will make a priority. – (Brandon)

The Sooners have made the top 8 cut for talented 2018 OL Tank Jenkins.

Jenkins has long appeared to be headed to Auburn, being from Alabama. However, the Sooners seem to have some traction with him, and the top OL play at OU is certainly a very enticing situation. The Sooners will be sure to continue communication with Jenkins as he approaches his decision. – (Lewis)
