– Marvin Wilson: The entire Sooners staff will be visiting Marvin Wilson next Tuesday. With the Sooners moving to a four man front, Oklahoma’s chances seem to have increased with Wilson. Sources on the OU side of this are starting to feel better and better about where they stand with Wilson.
We aren’t ready to put OU at the top but again, OU’s chances seemed to have gone up quite a bit in the past week or so.
Just to put this 4 man vs. 3 man front thing into perspective. Yesterday I spoke to Breiden Fehoko for a while. As many of you know Fehoko was a highly recruited DT in high school that ended up following his brothers to Texas Tech where he started every single game as a freshman and sophomore. Earlier this week he announced that he will be transferring. I asked Fehoko what led to his decision to transfer and he said, “I want to play in a four-man front. There are some teams that play an aggressive three man front like Houston last season and Washington but that’s just not the way we were playing here. Our job was to keep our linebackers clean which makes it tough to make plays”.
Intelligent defensive linemen, and Marvin Wilson is certainly intelligent, know that their chances of being drafted go up significantly playing in a hat in the crack type defensive front. It’s not a coincidence that former Missouri defensive line coach, coach Kuligowski was sending so many top draft picks into the league. He emphasized being aggressive and everything down to their S&C development emphasized explosion and coming off the ball.
Again, I think this change not only helps OU’s chances with Marvin Wilson but regardless of what happens with Wilson it will help with defensive line recruiting in the future. – (Super K & Brandon)
– Tre Brown: Sooners CB commit, Tre Brown tells me that he will visit Baylor this weekend and USC the following weekend. I don’t get the sense that the Sooners are in much danger here but we’ll continue to monitor it just in case. – (Super K)
– Charleston Rambo: In case you missed it, Charleston Rambo will take an unofficial visit to OU this weekend. He will also visit Florida next weekend but it’s pretty clear, again, that’s just a trip for fun and the Sooners are not in any danger of losing Rambo.
#SoonerSquad17 WR commit Charleston Rambo (@ballout_charlie ) tells me he is taking unofficial to #OU this weekend. #Sooners @TheFbBrainiacs

– Taquon Graham: Our sources close to Taquon Graham tell us that Graham’s visit to Texas may have closed the door on other programs. But I did check with our sources yesterday and I’m told that, as of last night, Graham still planned on taking his visit to TCU this weekend and OU next weekend. – (Super K)
– Jacob Phillips: Jacob Phillips is set to visit LSU this weekend. We have been told by some of the other OU commits that they remain confident Phillips will stick with the Sooners. He continues to communicate with them like he always has, as a part of the family.
The entire OU family, we are told, is recruiting Phillips and everyone on the OU side feels confident that the Sooners can withstand this late push from LSU. – (Brandon)
– Austin Faoliu: As of yesterday, Austin Faoliu, tells us that despite the fact that he won’t visit Oregon until next weekend, he still plans on announcing his commitment this weekend at the Polynesian Bowl. Faoliu will decide between Oklahoma and Oregon. – (Super K)
– Tyler Taylor: 2017 GA LB, Tyler Taylor tells us that he will likely make his final announcement sometime next week. The teams in the mix he says are, “probably between LSU, OU and Auburn”. – (Super K)
– Jalen Redmond: 2018 OLB/DE, Jalen Redmond (Midwest City, OK) tells us that the Sooners are expected to be at his basketball game this evening. No word yet on whether an offer will happen. – (Brandon)
– UPDATE (Sat., 2:20 pm): We have been told that in RE Austin Faoliu Sooners are not expected to receive good news today.
