Tyrion Davis Schedules Official Visit
– Super K

The Sooners have refused to give up on 2019 LSU RB commit, Tyrion Davis. Davis visited Oklahoma back in the spring and loved the visit. He’s been adamant that he would officially visit OU. But being from Baton Rouge, it started to feel like a visit would never happen.

The other night, Davis confirmed to me that he has scheduled his official visit to Oklahoma on the final weekend before early signing period (December 14th).

Based on my conversation with Davis, Oklahoma is likely the lone school that can give Davis something to think about.

I should note that with Lincoln Riley out this upcoming weekend for the Heisman ceremony, it’s looking like the Sooners won’t host any official visitors this weekend. But I do expect additional visitors beyond Davis for the final weekend.

Sooners Extend A Pair Of 2021 Offers
– Charlie S

The Sooners extended a rare pair of 2021 offers this week and I was able to briefly catch up with both of the players.

*** On Monday, OU sent out an offer to 2021 Defensive End, Tunmise Adeleye out of Katy, TX (Tompkins, HS).

Adeleye is a 6’3″ 260 lb sophomore who already holds offers from the likes of Alabama, LSU, and Texas.

I asked Adeleye how the offer came about and he said “Coach Thibbs came down today, talked to my coaches and watched some film. He extended the offer afterward.”

As far as Oklahoma goes, Tunmise said, “I visited them back in 8th grade, but I was really under the radar (actually made me laugh when he said that). I definitely plan on visiting OU again. OU is my father’s favorite school out of all the ones we have been too.

I pressed him a bit more on why OU was his fathers favorite and he said, “My dad has a friend that he grew up with in Nigeria and both of his daughters went to OU. So its kind of rubbing off on my dad and he likes OU a lot”.

Adeyele is obviously going to be an elite recruit as things move forward and he will probably have the opportunity to play anywhere in the country so it doesn’t hurt the Sooners to have some family preference at the start of his process.

*** On Tuesday, the Sooners extended an offer to 2021 wide receiver Latrell Neville out of Missouri City, TX (Willowridge HS)

Neville is a 6’3″ 180 lb sophomore who currently holds offers from Oregon, Arizona, and Texas A&M among others.

When we got to talking about the offer and how it went down, Latrell said “Coach Simmons came by today and he offered me!”

He has yet to visit Norman, but he said “I plan on getting up there in the spring for sure!”

We spoke a little about the OU offense and he said “Man I love it! Seeing the way CeeDee lamb thrives in that offense makes me want to play in it”.

Lamb is a tremendous comparison for Neville in my opinion as both are bigger receivers with a huge catch radius and they both take pride in their route running.

*** I plan on catching up with both Latrell and Tunmise down the road to give you all a spotlight piece on them as they will be two recruits you will be hearing about for a couple years going forward.

Quick-Hitters | DC & Ugwoegbu
– Super K

***ICYMI

I have yet to hear Grinch’s name from any credible source. That doesn’t mean there isn’t interest. I just haven’t heard it myself. I will say that I’ve had my doubts about Grinch based on Ohio State’s defensive decline this season. But I spoke with a source inside that building at Ohio State who said…

“He really hasn’t had a chance to implement what he wants to do. Schiano controls everything.” Source went on to say, “He’s smart and I think you’ll see the improvement if he’s calling the shots. Some of the issues this year were personnel issues. Best guys didn’t always play”.

***Multiple recruits and families have told us that Riley has told them there will be no announcement on the defensive coordinator front until after the bowl game. That just adds to what we had started hearing right after the Big 12 championship game. As I mentioned, before the game I was told the decision would be made after the Big 12 Championship game. That timeline has changed.

***A friend of mine told me that Golding turned down a pretty hefty sum from Ole Miss, at least for the time being, will be interesting to see how this all plays out and if Ole Miss continues their pursuit of him as well as how OU goes about finding their permanent DC.

***The Sooners were in-home with David Ugwoegbu earlier this week. David told me the in-home went great. He still plans on making the trip to Texas A&M next weekend. Sooners still lead here but the battle will continue as David won’t sign until February.

***Sooners still feel good about Marcus Stripling. LSU did an in-home with Stripling but I think they’ve got some guys ahead of him. Texas A&M will do their in-home with him later this week. I still can’t say whether TAMU will have the numbers or how hard they are pushing.

Finley Felix – January

Obviously the list could change, either way, before signing day. We will keep you posted.

Sooners Offer JUCO DL LaRon Stokes | Official Visit Set
– Charlie S

*** As I mentioned on Tuesday the Sooners were stopping by Northeastern Oklahoma today to see 2019 JUCO defensive lineman LaRon Stokes.

*** Yesterday morning, LaRon let me know that he has received an offer from Oklahoma.

*** Stokes is 6’4″ and 250 lbs and he has recently picked up offers from Oregon and Virginia Tech and now the Sooners have thrown their hat into the ring.

*** Stokes tells me he plans on visiting Norman next weekend (December 13th – 15th)

Quick-Hitters | Evan Neal, Jordan Battle, Brandon Pierce
– Super K

***Spoke with James this morning (Thursday) and he passed on a note regarding 5 star OT, Evan Neal. It sounds like the Sooners opted not to go see Neal. It appears the Sooners no longer felt good about their chances and decided to move on.

Instead, they are focused on finishing the class with Myron Cunningham and Butler grad transfer, Tommy Kennedy.

***We are still digging on information regarding Butler grad transfer, Tommy Kennedy but it sounds like the Sooners went by to see him and he plans on visiting Oklahoma next week sometime around the middle of the week.

***Sooners stopped by to see Jaden Davis, Wednesday. While in the area they also went by an did an in-home with Jordan Battle. Nothing new to report on Battle just yet. Sooners are still in the mix but Alabama is the leader. I’m hoping to find out if the in-home visit may have changed that at all.

***Brandon Pierce tells me that Gundy did watch him work out but no offer was made just yet. Pierce said Gundy informed him that coach Simmons will be by to visit Pierce next week.

I’d imagine the Sooners are hoping to get a clearer picture of where things stand with them and Jadon Haselwood and at the same time trying to account for running back numbers. James tells me that according to his source, both Tyrion Davis and Rhamondre Stevenson are takes.

So, I think what you’re seeing with Brandon Pierce right now is just a process of going through the numbers.

Sourced | Sooners Lead for Jeremiah Criddell
– Super K

I spoke with someone very close to Sooners DB target, Jeremiah Criddell (Mater Dei) who tells me that the Sooners are set to do their in-home with Criddell on December 10th.

Criddell has long been a target of the Sooners but until Chip Viney came on board the Sooners couldn’t quite crack the stranglehold that Oregon held on Criddell’s recruitment.

Based on what we are told, the Sooners appear to be the current leader. However, the source close to Criddell tells me that Criddell has not ruled out the possibility of signing in February.

The reason?

“Waiting to see what happens with the OU staff”.

Should the Sooners land Criddell and right now it’s looking like there is a strong possibility of that happening, they will have one defensive back spot remaining for either Steele or Battle.

I’m told Lincoln Riley really likes Criddell and has made him a priority.
