Open Post | Weekend, December 18th – 20th

Quick Hitter | 2022 DL Tyson Ford
– Charlie S

2022 defensive lineman Tyson Ford (6’5″ 245) out of Saint Louis, MO has tweeted out his commitment date…

Sooner fans are going to want to keep a very, very close eye on this one.

Camar Wheaton | Update
– Super K

***As you know, Camar Wheaton is expected to announce his decision on December 23rd.

***There was some thought that he would sign in the early period. I suppose that is still possible but based on what I’ve heard from sources close to his camp, it’s more likely he will sign in February.

***I spoke to a source on the Alabama side and it seems with the two flips they made yesterday, they are running out of spots. Sounds like they might have one or two more spots and they still have a few targets going into the second signing period.

***If Camar sticks with his timeline and his top two then I’d pick OU. But the fact that I’m still hearing Camar doesn’t plan on signing till February leaves me a bit uneasy.

***I’ll stick with my OU pick but seeing Camar delay the announcement wouldn’t surprise me. That isn’t sourced. Call it a gut concern. But until we hear something more definitive, again, I’ll stay with my OU pick.

Quick Hitter | 2021 LB Trevin Wallace
– Charlie S

A couple of you asked about the possibility of OU pursuing one time LB target Trevin Wallace (6’2″ 209) out of Wayne County, GA once again now that he will not be signing until February.

I checked in with Trevin and asked if he had been in contact with OU of late and he told me he has had no contact with OU for a while now.

When I asked him if OU was a school he would be interested in should they reach out to him, he said it would all be about how they approach him.

So right now, there does not appear to be anything here, but I will continue to check in with him and also have James and K see what they can find out from their sources on the OU side, if anything.

Bryce Foster Commits to Aggie
– Charlie S

Sooners 2021 OL target Bryce Foster has committed to Texas A&M.

Foster was a huge focus of Bill Bedenbaugh and Lincoln Riley throughout the cycle and was in Norman as recently as Bedlam,

While the Sooners had the ‘lead’ for quite a long time, we kept mentioning that A&M would be a threat right up until the ink is dry largely because of his family connection to the school,

Bummer for Bedenbaugh as he will now turn his focus towards locking up Tristan Leigh and likely to the transfer portal for some depth.

Update | Jadarrius Perkins
– Charlie S

As I mentioned last week, 2021 JUCO defensive back Jadarrius Perkins, who recently decommitted from Oregon, mentioned to me that he has been in solid communication with OU of late.

Earlier this week on Twitter, he provided the rest of Sooner Nation with that same info…

Perkins got some facetime with the head ball coach in Norman…that is never a bad sign when it comes to a programs interest in you.

While we are still gauging where OU is at with him on their end and where he fits into their plans, Perkins did share a few notes of interest with me…

*** He plans on announcing his decision ‘a little after the early signing period’ and signing his NLI on Christmas day. (Not quiet clear if he has the order correct here but that is his stated plan to me).

*** As far as where OU see’s him playing if he were to choose the Sooners, Jadarrius said “They think I am an outside corner. I have the ability to play both field and boundary.’

*** Perkins knows he has the length and height (6’2”) that OU covets in the secondary. He said that is something that OU stresses with him and why they tell him he is such an important ‘need’ for them.

One way or another, we will know how this story ends in the very near future and when we get some additional info from the OU side, we will fill you all in!

Quick Hitter | Jordan Mukes Enrolling Early
– Charlie S

A few weeks back we shined the ‘Spotlight’ on Sooners 2021 DB Commit Jordan Mukes.

In that write up, I mentioned that Mukes was debating on the possibility of enrolling early.

Mukes told me he was eager to get to Norman to start his career with the Sooners but some around him were hoping he would finish out high school in a traditional fashion prior to making his way to campus.

Last night, I spoke to a source, who told me that ‘Right now, it looks like he will be heading to Norman in January.”

Source did not say that this is set in stone, but he did feel that there is a very strong likelihood that this plan will come to fruition.
