Open Post | Weekend, April 12th – 14th

The Latest | Courtland Guillory
– Charlie S – Posted on: April 5, 2024

Just wanted to pass along a note that we can confirm that ’25 cornerback Courtland Guillory has made his way to campus and will be in attendance for the practice and event tomorrow,

Here’s the news, Guillory already has an official to OU set for June 21st…but source tells us they also expect Guillory to be at the spring game on April 21st.

We are not ready to trend him heavily in one direction or another, but the fact that he has 3 visits to OU coming up (at least scheduled) has us in a position where we believe that anybody who feels they can tell you definitively where this kid is going right now is likely just shooting into the wind.

Obviously, the visit tomorrow, the planned return trip for the spring game and the scheduled official give credence to why OU is feeling good about their chances with him.

Post Visit Sourced Note | ’25 OL Antoni Ogumoro
– Charlie S – Posted on: April 8, 2024

The Sooners hosted ’25 OL Antoni Ogumoro (6’5 290) out of Elgin, Oklahoma this weekend.

The visit comes about 3 weeks after OU extended an offer to him.

I’m told the visit was a homerun with Ogumoro and his entire family and the Sooners are expecting him back on campus in the near future for a couple additional visits.

Source mentioned that they believe OU made a massive move here in this recruitment and the Sooners have positioned themselves well to close the deal with the talented offensive lineman.

Not only did Ogumoro enjoy meeting Coach B and getting to know him better, but the family was blown away by Brent Venables and the message he preaches.

The Sooners currently have two offensive linemen committed in the class in Ryan Fodje and Owen Hollenbeck and they are in good spots with several other high profile kids, but Ogumoro is one of those guys who is more talented than his ranking or offer list suggest.

Those Tennessee, Kansas State, and Missouri offers are real (Tennessee and Kansas State were atop his list prior to this weekend) and our own guy JY told K and me that “Watching Ogumoro makes my heart happy”.

Post Visit Sourced Update | Cobey Sellers
– Charlie S – Posted on: April 9, 2024

***Oklahoma hosted priority cornerback target Cobey Sellers once again last weekend.

***Spoke with a source who was around Sellers for a good chunk of the visit.

***Source said they believe Sellers is going to land at OU. Was told “I believe he is leaning OU, he’s just making sure right now”. Source went on to add that Sellers was very comfortable around the OU staff and other recruits and was really enjoying himself.

***None of that above is groundbreaking as we have maintained that OU is in a good spot for Sellers and it would largely be about holding off the other contenders for his pledge. So the real news is…

***Source said they don’t believe Texas is really in the picture for Sellers right now and this one feels like it is down to OU (leading) and Texas A&M.

***Was told “Right now, I am comfortable in saying that OU is outrecruiting Texas for both CBs from Houston (Sellers and Guillory).

***I asked why they felt OU was winning these recruitments against Texas and source said “The authenticity and genuineness coming from Valai and Venables separates OU. Thats where OU is way out front.”

Post Visit Update | Emmanuel Choice
– Charlie S – Posted on: April 9, 2024

***One Sooner target who quietly made his way to Norman last weekend was ’25 WR Emmanuel Choice (6’4 195) out of Lancaster, Texas.

***Choice wasn’t on anyone’s visitor list coming into the weekend and it wasn’t until the event was underway that I first reported Choice was on campus…and that’s the way Manny likes it right now.

***While OU has focused on Andrew Marsh, Cooper Perry, and Choice to finish out the class and join Elijah Thomas and Gracen Harris, it has been Choice who has been the guy whom OU has quietly made the most headway with at this time.

***Cooper Perry is set to announce his commitment to the school of his choosing tomorrow and it would be a surprise to me and some people in Norman if OU were the call.

***Meanwhile, source said this weekend scored some more points for OU in their chase of Choice as he was comfortable with the Sooner commits who were there recruiting him and Emmett Jones had an opportunity to further strengthen his relationship with Choice.

***Source tells me they believe OU has staked their claim at the front of the recruitment and feels like they lead. We will do some additional digging before we put a trend pick out in numbers, but right now, it appears this one remains headed in the right direction for OU.

Courtland Guillory | Trending
– Super K – Posted on: April 11, 2024

I know Charlie recently put a trending pick in for Courtland Guillory to OU.

Up until now, I have not done so but I think I can but I’ll just say a few things…

***First, I don’t believe Courtland has made a decision…

***I’m told for his commitment video, he’s been going around shooting videos at multiple schools so he has multiple endings

***I also think he still has some visits to take but I do believe he’s getting close to a decision and things are pretty narrowed down.

***I do agree with Charlie that this weekend the Sooners made a strong move and it was enough for me to trend Courtland to OU but just not quite as high as Charlie has…

***I’m going to trend this OU 51/49. I still want to see if he makes a return trip to Texas and how that goes. Sources at OU feel good but they do not believe this one is done or that they’re in the clear.

Cornerback 2025 Numbers and Recruiting
– Super K – Posted on: April 11, 2024

As you know, this past weekend, the Sooners hosted 2025 CB, Seaonta Stewart (Cincinnati, OH).

The question we’ve had is with OU also hosting Courtland Guillory and Cobey Sellers and still in the running for in-state DB Trystan Haynes, where Stewart fits in.

I asked around and the simple answer I got seems to be that the Sooners don’t yet know how many cornerbacks they can take in this class.

I absolutely get the sense they like Stewart but he’s come on the scene a little later and they’ve been heavily recruiting guys like Guillory and Sellers (who they love) for quite some time.

I think they’d be happy to take any combination of the four above or even taking all four if the numbers permit.

If I had to guess those, if they land Guillory and Sellers, then the picture could change as taking four additional corners in this class just seems like a lot.

But if you’re looking for the names to focus on, I’m told it’s absolutely those four.

6 – Pack: Sourced Scrimmage Notes | April 10th
– Charlie S – Posted on: April 10, 2024

Here are 6 selected sourced notes from this week’s scrimmage. If you would like to read the rest of our Sourced Team Notes, please check the Donor Board.

As I mentioned in a thread this morning, the Sooners held a scrimmage today (indoors), which will likely be the last extended live team period of the spring before the Spring Game next weekend.

Serving up the first batch of sourced notes from the practice…

***Was told this was Jackson Arnold’s most complete live period. Source mentioned that he had a big run (designed, not scramble) and led the offense to points on each of his drives prior to the mass subbing. Source noted that Arnold was spreading the ball around, but there is a real connection with Bauer Sharp as once again (surprise) the big tight end found the end zone.

***Jayden Gibson had a long touchdown reception as well as his hot spring start continues. Sounds like he has made the most out of his opportunities.

***Was told the defense dominated the second/third units offensively and in particular, the interior of the defensive line was causing havoc.

***Sounds like Danny Okoye and Taylor Wein got a lot of run and they flashed. Source said Okoye looks like he took a step and is starting to feel comfortable with the speed of the college game.

***Source mentioned a handful of tipped balls. Checked with James and he was told Jacobe Johnson had a pick that would have been a pick 6 if they let the play finish out, but the play was in a specialized setting, not the open scrimmage.

***Source said Peyton Bowen was showing out and noted that Bowen has tremendous instincts and anticipation. Had an acrobatic interception. Was told he really looks like he put in the work in the offseason after missing the first couple of practices.
