Creed Humphrey: This past weekend 2017 OL, Creed Humphrey (Shawnee, OK) made his way to Norman for a visit. The visit was important as Humphrey is planning on announcing his commitment soon, “no date (set) yet but most likely mid to late June”.

Humphrey has made multiple visits to Oklahoma. There isn’t really anything he hasn’t seen. At this point, it is just about him continuing to develop a stronger and stronger relationship with the staff, “It (the visit) was great. I got to spend a lot of time with Coach Bedenbaugh and Bob Stoops.”

Humphrey added that he still intends on visiting Texas A&M this upcoming weekend. After that, he plans on working through things with his family and coming to a decision. We expect an announcement to come anytime after this upcoming TAMU visit.

Something of note is that Creed is good friends with 2017 Meeker, Oklahoma offensive lineman, Adrian Wolford. Wolford was committed to Oklahoma State but recently flipped to Texas A&M. – (Brandon)

My Take | Creed Humphrey: Creed holds an offer from schools like Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and others. But from everything I’ve heard this one is going to come down to Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

As Brandon mentioned, TAMU has the advantage of a having a commitment from one of Creed’s close friends in Adrian Wolford. OU however is his in-state school and I’m told the family is an OU family. In fact, Humphrey’s older brother is a student at OU.

For the past few weeks there has been a lot of buzz down here in Texas about Humphrey favoring Texas A&M. Humphrey is pretty guarded so it’s tough to read him but I admit that prior to this OU visit TAMU seemed to be leading. I’m told Humphrey has a really good relationship with TAMU’s offensive line coach, Jim Turner. Brandon said that at the camp, Humphrey was with coach Bedenbaugh the entire time which isn’t surprising but is also important because that relationship seems critical to Humphrey.

For OU fans it’s probably not the best thing that TAMU will likely get the last visit before Humphrey announces. However, Oklahoma certainly holds enough inherent advantages.

I like where OU stands but TAMU is a real threat and I suspect we should hear more after this upcoming visit. – (Super K)

Parrish Cobb: I continue to check in with sources regarding 2016 Baylor signee, Parrish Cobb. By now you all know that Cobb has requested a release from his NLI. I’ve received some conflicting information but I’ll lay it out for you. Enjoy…

Source 1 and 2 (Texas side) – I spoke to two sources on the Texas side and they confident. One source said Texas has about a “70% chance” of landing Cobb.

Source 3 and 4 (Oklahoma side) – I also spoke with two Oklahoma sources. They are even more confident than the Texas side. Both sources I spoke to on the Oklahoma side fully expect Cobb to end up at Oklahoma.

Source 5 (Waco/Family Friend): A source close to the family told me that the family likes Oklahoma and Georgia. The reason being is they would like Parrish to get further away from Waco than Austin or even Ft Worth (though the source mentioned there is interest in TCU and I’m told by a TCU source that they have a spot for Cobb).

Source 6 (Waco/Family Friend): Another source close to the family is adamant that while Oklahoma may be somewhat in it, the two main schools the Cobbs are interested in are Texas and Georgia.

All these sources are solid in their proximity to either the family or the programs so I have no reason to doubt them. However, my sense is the conflicting information is coming from 1) the possibility that the Cobbs may be indicating strong interest to multiple parties to ensure a spot remains open and 2) that like Cobb’s recruitment itself, there is a possibility that there is some difference between what Parrish may want and what his family may want.

Obviously I am conjecturing on both points mentioned above so neither should be taken as fact. It is my attempt to reconcile what I believe to be information coming from solid sources on all sides.

I am also told that they expect a release to come sometime within the next 30 days. – (Super K)

Camp Visitors: Oklahoma is holding a second camp today and the Sooners will have plenty of their own commitments on hand. Jalen Reagor, Charleston Rambo, Tre Brown, Levi Draper, Justin Broiles, and Chris Robison are all expected to be in attendance. Additionally the Sooners will host 2017 LB, Anthony Hines.

Again, we really like where OU sits with Anthony Hines. – (Brandon & Super K)

    Hello OP———-

  • mizzOUstu702 says:

Do we have a real possibility with Duvernay, or was OU just a token add to his top 3? Always appreciate the info guys – great stuff on Cobb!

    • DCinAZ says:

Yes we have a shot with Duverney. A very good shot.

      • MikeyBoom says:

Curios DC, what makes you believe we are in a good spot with him. All I’ve heard is that texsa is the huge favorite to land him

        • disqus_MGlT3IoZ53 says:

Cause we were his #2 and his cousin plays for OU. UT and TCU are right there too but this is supposedly trending towards OU currently

        • DCinAZ says:

He just said as recently as a couple of days ago that OU was his second favorite when he committed to Baylor. Also, Kyler Murray is his cousin, and Kyler is recruiting him heavily. Texas will always be a huge favorite to win any Texas kid. They always have been.

      • Tony B says:

From what I hear he’s very interested. Kyler Murray (his cousin) is trying to get him on board.

    • Lincoln Hawk says:

Anybody know the timetable of when he needs to “commit”? I’m sure there is a cutoff at some point for enrollment etc.

      • SoonerMagic76 says:

I’ve been wondering the same thing about all of the players wanting out at Baylor – you’d think they need to get the ball rolling pretty quickly

      • bommer85 says:

I think Devin is waiting for his brother to be released as well, from a few things i have read sounds like its a package deal

        • Lincoln Hawk says:

Ewwwww, then I would think we are out.

          • bommer85 says:

that was my first reaction as well. lots of things happening with baylor fall out but you’d have to think we come away with one or two good players

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Agreed, but I don’t think Bob plays the package deal stuff, scholarships are too precious to use on guys you don’t believe in.

        • disqus_MGlT3IoZ53 says:

Rivals says we may go after both brothers and if we do – we will be the team to beat

          • bommer85 says:

i didn’t think bob did package deals either, as hawk said below…but if OU says yes to Devin’s brother then its 100% he will be a sooner

          • Dick Bump says:

I think it depends on whether the brother is good enough to play.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Surprising since we didn’t offer his brother the first time around.

  • hOUligan says:

OK. Need TRob to weigh in on the latest w Hines. Love that a large part of SoonerSquad17 is getting together and Hines will be w them. TRob said Hines is close w Draper and Tyrese. Too bad Creed isn’t there.

  • Tony B says:

It sure would be nice if Hines pulled the trigger today and gave us a Boom! Verone McKinley III is also with them correct K?

  • Ed Cotter says:

So Parrish Cobb is down to OU, Texas and Georgia…..depending on who you talk to.

    • cush creekmont says:

I believe that ship sailed…and it was not a top vessel.

      • Soonerjon says:

Why the negativity? I remember him as a top priority before he chose the wrong school, and he seems to still be wanted by many.

        • cush creekmont says:

Times change. OU has 2017 commits that top him. I don’t dislike the kid, but we all choose including the coaches.

  • Dick Bump says:

Creed just looks like an OU lineman. Perfect fit…… Besides Aggies kill and sacrifice trees in attempts to gain favor from the Football Gods. How weird is that?

    • Katyboomer says:

Plus TAMU Coach will most likely not be there for all 4years, maybe not even year one.

    • cush creekmont says:

A loooooooooooooooooong way to February. Even a silly aggie verbal might not hold for a Sooner-born after the 2016 season ends.

      • bommer85 says:

yup. my feeling is he verbals to aggies this month and signs a sooner in february

    • DCinAZ says:

I wouldn’t be friends with anybody that committed to Aggie on purpose.

    • KJ1123 says:

Bill is really high on this kid.

    • Stephen Dale says:

walking away from a SEC offer would be surprising……aTm offers SEC West competition he won’t find at a place like OU……he won’t know how to reach his true potential unless he goes to the nation’s best conference……

      • Rick says:

Stephen, have been doing so well…PLEASE come back to sanity. Who in their right mind would ever CHOOSE willingly to have Sumlin as coach instead of Bob.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

If he’s thinking about the next level, it’s a no brainer. NFL GM’s refer to OU as O Line U…You know better than this Stephen.

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

K, you mentioned that Cobb is expecting to be released within 30 days. Is that the general sense you’re getting – that everyone who asked for a release will get it- or do you think any appeals will be needed?

    • bommer85 says:

Cobb not coming to OU, maybe Duvernay and/or Bowen. which is better for us IMO

      • SoonerBred says:

Think we’ve seen the Cobb drama once and that’s enough, probably better for us in the long run if he just moves on. Now Duvernay/Bowen, I’d love to get either.

        • SoonerMagic76 says:

As nice as it is to get talented players, I think I’d have to agree

  • Jake says:

Dear sweet 8lb 6 ounce newborn infant jesus don’t even know a word yet, just a little infant and so cuddly but still omnipotent. We will be so thankful if we get a commitment from Anthony Hines. Thus, creating on the most feared tandem ILBs in college football. Whoo!

      • Stephen Dale says:

Texas still the major competition for Hines ?

        • Birddawg says:

Texsa is always going to be major competition for any Texas recruit.
As long as we take care of business on the field and ss17 continues to be relentless. We should get his commitment.

        • Super K says:

I honestly don’t believe Texas is in it with Hines. I know their staff and the writers think they are and they have good reason to…he continues to visit there…but I know some folks close to Hines and I’m told there isn’t real interest in Texas.

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

It doesn’t matter we are out recruiting them boys.

    • cush creekmont says:

    • SoonerMagic76 says:

Love the SoonerSquad17 group. Very close group and they work hard at getting more. Really cool to see

    • KJ1123 says:

Or they could all know that he’s a silent commit with SS17 already but they agreed not to say anything because Hines wants to play out his recruitment a little.

    • Super K says:

      First reported by MikeyBoom! Thanks!

  • John Tolomeo says:

When can we expect the official depth chart

  • SWoods says:

Hines would be another great pick up!

  • Scott says:

I don’t think OU needs Cobb imo since Micah Quick is transitioning to CB . Hopefully Anthony Hines commits to the SoonerSquad17 today. Also good to see Tre Brown , Justin Broiles (OU recruiting Coordinator) , Levi Draper , Tyrese Robinson on campus today.

    • soonerthunder says:

we need cobb. iron sharpens iron, for one thing, and quality depth is always needed. I think it’s our weakest position on the team as far as quality depth

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

Thanks guys. Not exactly what I was hoping to see concerning Creed Humphrey though

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

So None of these players have been told that they are getting released from Baylor correct or ?

  • michael hammond says:

We need some receivers to step up and Quick been moved to dB, hhmmmmmnnnn….either he’s just not cutting it or we need help in the secondary, or both.

    • SoonerNutt says:

Or… it could mean the young receivers are good.

    • Kody K. says:

I think it’s more of a case where he hasn’t separated himself as an elite or a “go to” type of receiver. Obviously, he thinks he can improve his value as a corner. Hopefully he can do what Brandon Williams did at ATM. He definitely has the athletic ability.

      • DCinAZ says:

I hope it’s not because we’re stuck with a tiny CB in Dakota Austin and his backup (PJ) isn’t living up to his billing.

        • Kody K. says:

Actually DC, I don’t think PJ did that bad. Basically, he just forgot to turn around and find the football. lol Otherwise I didn’t see him getting smoked or break assignment. But that’s just my opinion. I actually like Austin too, he is a scrappy corner who tackles well. Although I wouldn’t like him inside the ten trying to cover a corner fade. He is just not an imposing figure like you would want in certain situations.

          • DCinAZ says:

I don’t have any basis for my paranoia. It’s just mindless paranoia.

          • Dick Bump says:

For PJ, It was just one game and he was so new he hadn’t found the student union yet. I think it shows how good his ability is for the coaches to play him under those circumstances.

          • Kody K. says:

You are exactly right. I think he has a promising future ahead. Although, there are some top young guns coming in.

  • j l says:

Cobb is OU good, but i just dont get the feeling he truly wants to be a sooner. Id rather not have a kid that dosent want to be “all in”.

  • Boom says:

Jim Turner is the best coach at ATM. Period. There is no skirting around this and I have friends who are inside ATM and they all say the same thing – Jim Turner keeps the ship together. I understand why Creed is interested in ATM because of Jim. However, my hope is we can pull him into OU using our great OU OL coach – “BedenBOOM”.

    • LandThieve3 says:

Yep, unfortunately A&M has a pretty good track record in the last few years of producing top lineman picks in the draft.

      • Boom says:

I’ve heard Trevor has changed that locker room big time. Jim will be the benefactor of this change along with him being the best coach at ATM.

  • Sam Sherwood says:

It would really bum me out to lose Creed Humphrey to TAMU.

  • KJ1123 says:

Cobb: Baylor WAS and probably still is better than Texsa, Georgia is good but too many question marks. You wanna compete for a natty THIS year and most likely the next few years, you know where to go.

    • Matt says:

do you know anything about Duvernay? Are the good guys getting him? Anything about JP Urquidez?

      • KJ1123 says:

Haven’t heard anything, obviously were in a good position with Duvernay. And even though JP didnt enroll, Baylor may not release him. He could still come to Norman and go to school for a year if Baylor doesn’t.

Unless she iinjured she should be good to go. Not sure how much people know about softball but it’s a lot less wear on a pitcher’s arm as the shoulder rotation to throw underhand is a very natural plane of motion and less stress on the elbow than overhand and the wrist (transfers strain to elbow) motion on breaking balls for baseball. The players I coached (HS girls) said their hips and legs got tired before their arm every came close to feeling fatigue.

I wonder what would happen if, hypothetically speaking, bailer lost a few asst coaches in the next few weeks due to constant bad media press and that 20 kids decided to transfer? Does the NCAA step in and allow them to transfer elsewhere in the conference due to the circumstances and tell bailer to pipe down or just let the ship sink and make the kids go out of conference, knowing bailer will hit rock bottom?

          • Jed says:

OU’s forensics teams have always been great. In additon to the debate team, the Moot Court team at the law school spent lots of years slaughtering the likes of Harvard and Yale.

          • Rick says:

I don’t really think OU takes a back seat to anyone academically. The entrance requirements may be a little less stringent, but competition for acceptance is no as great with in state students either. I really like what see in MOST aspects of OUr school. Future employers are not rolling their eyes when they see OU grad on the resume.

          • Jed says:

OU’s mission is different from that of a Harvard. They are not in the business of supporting a state’s economy as is OU.
Comparing OU to other state systems, you have to be careful as well: some break up their higher ed systems in a slightly different way that leads to invalid comparisons.
I’ve got a neighbor whose son transferred from UCSD to OU and found that fully half of his credits were not valid. My suspicion would be that a transferee from U Cal Berkeley would not have had the same experience. And yet both are U Cal system institutions.

no particular school but the SEC is where many of the elite HS prospects go–year after year. Why ? for many, its the challenge of facing elite opposition as well as winning a spot on a fabled team ( Alabama, LSU, Florida, etc )…..if this conference had as strong a posture as the SEC, there would be no talk from OU fans about moving to the SEC….If a program wants to be the best, it must beat the best. same with athletes….

          • Malicong says:

I want to go to Arkansas/Vandy/Missouri/Miss St/Ole Miss/Kentucky, over OU so I can get my head bashed in by name programs like Alabama and LSU instead of winning the conference, being in the top 5 and playing in big time bowl games!

            Said no recruit ever.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

But there is a clear difference from being at OU and playing at Florida or A&M. OU, Bama and LSU is a better comparison.

        • No one has disputed that the SEC, as a whole, is better than the big 12. You’re putting ATM in the same category as OU. That in itself is a laughable statement. Sure, Big 12 doesn’t put out as many draft picks, but OU takes a backseat to no one in dratees produced. Heck, Big10 doesn’t produce a ton of draft picks, on annual basis. But Ohio State had a record year in this last draft.

To your facilities statement. Name a program that will have better facilities than OU when the upgrade is done. No one has an athletics dorm that is close to as nice as OU.

Lastly, to say a program is better because of stadium is just idiotic. On that note, OU is a better basketball program than Duke because of stadium size. Michigan is better than OU at footbalk due to stadium size. Same with Texas. See. Doesn’t that logic just seem straight up dumb?

I read your posts, Stephen. Your’re the constant contrarian. Always having to argue. Even if I orive you wrong, you’ll find something else. For that, I’m out

          • DCinAZ says:

I think he’s an Aggie troll. He uses identical sad talking points to Aggies I see over on SEC Rant. All of them use these same talking points.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

            Ban hammer for SD?

        • DCinAZ says:

ATM’s recruiting class looks like a recruiting class for Okie State and you’re talking about their facilities. LOL!!

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

We are out recruiting all but one SEC school this cycle. Now that’s a fact!

    • Big Higg says:

Come on man. Quit trying to rile everybody up.

      • Stephen Dale says:

you guys need to direct your vitrol toward Boren’s office. getting OU into the SEC would solve many problems ; amongst them, a better level of competition and access to a larger pool of talent. Plus, the yearly payout to OU would greatly increase in the years ahead…..

    • Cav66 says:

SD – You know the rule about stirring the pot. Our conference in somewhat dysfunctional, but your logic on this one is out there.

    • BoomCity89 says:

Yes, I agree that right now the SEC is a better overall conference than the Big 12.

But going to A&M is like going to Texas Tech. You’ll have 1-2 good victories that surprise people but you can never make it to any game that has the words “Championship” in them. I bet those 15,000 extra fans really enjoy that…

      • Birddawg says:

        Tech gets surprising wins? lol
A&M is just like Manziels career…
        All flash no substance.
They are drowning for it… in manziels case in alcohol

    • ouwooferman says:

All of this and ATM and Mizzou are so much better than when they were in the b12. fail.

      • Stephen Dale says:

Mizzou has won the SEC East the last two years, so YES, the Tigers are enjoying their time in the SEC——–something no Mizzou team accomplished since the days of Dan Devine in the late 1960’s…….aTm not so much ……

        • ouwooferman says:

Winning the East is like winning the old North. Mizzou had 3 division titles But those facts dont mean anything. 07, 08, 10 Cochamps

          • Stephen Dale says:

true enough except Mizzou is getting a larger payback / yr than it would have gotten in this conference—and—the gap is projected to widen appreciably over the next few years…..it seems to be a ‘win’ win for Mizzou : no Texas to deal with , relative success in the SEC East, and more money in its coffers…..

          • ouwooferman says:

SD – UT makes the most monies and what does that get them? It is not just the total, it is what you do with it. Mizzou is imploding on its race issues.

Mizzou Basketball was very relevant in the B12, They were 10-21 last year. Keep trying.

          • DCinAZ says:

Both Mizzou and ATM were at their strongest in the SEC when they both were laden with BIG XII athletes on their rosters (and BIG XII coaches on their staffs). Both have declined dramatically ever since those players and coaches left.

          • cush creekmont says:

Ah, a secret not to be admitted by the sec-blinded. It is the TEAM, not the conference – WSU same as USC, not so much. Illinois same as tOSU, not so much. Vanderbilt same as Alabama, nsm. NC State same as FSU, nsm. And of course, KU (+ others) NOT the same as OU.

          • DCinAZ says:

Who gives a sh*t how large your conference paycheck is when the results you’re getting on the field are either status quo or in complete freefall like they are for both Mizzou and ATM?!?! ATM and Mizzou are basically welfare cases that don’t add anything to their conference. LMAO!!!

This guy is an Aggie trolling as an OU fan.

        • DCinAZ says:

They won the BIG XII North twice as well. It’s amazing what they can accomplish when all of the traditional powers in their division are down.

          • Stephen Dale says:

Georgia , in particular, and Florida to some degree, have enjoyed success recently. I do agree that both have disappointed their fans with ‘down’ seasons’ and it cost Mark Richt his job….Florida seems to be rebuilding so Mizzou will have a battle to dominate the East in the near future………

          • DCinAZ says:

GTFOH………..Mizzou won the east while Florida and Tennessee are down. Florida has been TERRIBLE outside of last season, which curiously enough, did not feature Mizzou as East champions. Imagine that. Georgia has never been a traditional power yet finds a way to lose to somebody else in their division every year after beating Mizzou that costs them a trip to the title game.

        • Malicong says:

Actually they didn’t. They finished 5-7 last year in a bad division. They are looking much the same this year and the talent is falling fast. Once the Big XII recruits ran dry, they have struggled and they are not getting any top talent. They can barely keep ahead of Vanderbilt in recruiting. They essentially traded 2 SEC LEast titles for a decade or more of sub .500 teams and their top in-state players being poached by SEC powerhouses. They may have had a good time in 2013 and 2014, but 2015-2025 will probably be one of the worst decades in school history.

    • Lincoln Hawk says:

      *Humphrey

    • Matt says:

I’m assuming you read both headings regarding the prospect, and then the substance under both headings, yet you still referred to him as Humphries, rather than Humphrey?

    • Cav66 says:

I agree that OU needs to look at other conference options as soon as possible. We need to choose a conference that doesn’t and won’t include texsa. That being said, I disagree with any direct comparison that favors aTm over OU as a destination for top football players. They don’t match us on any level outside of stadium capacity.

      • Jed says:

and ours is newer, with nicer facilities and a vastly superior history.

      • Stephen Dale says:

the conference affiliation trumps many OU advantages…..the SEC brand is much stronger nationally than the Little 12-2…..and if that didn’t sway athletes thinking, OU’s historical record of success would guarantee a top 10 recruiting yearly….in truth, OU finished #19 in Rivals post signing day Feb 2016 and Texas finished 12th……..several SEC teams finished ahead of Texas and OU……….this is happening every year and the talent gap continues to widen…

        • Cav66 says:

The conference glow appears to wearing off a bit for the aggies. Their mediocre at best results, high profile defections, and some serious flaws in judgment by some of the coaches have taken a lot of the shine off that program. OU’s recruiting appears to be on the rise along with their on-the-field results. While our conference affiliation isn’t helping us right now, I would say that as a program with a desirable national brand, we are actually showing a great upward trend across the entire athletic program. I don’t see any particular advantage for aTm over OU in football recruiting.

        • Malicong says:

The SEC “brand” is Alabama, Auburn and LSU with Georgia and Florida from time to time. Everyone else is being passed up even by many of their own in state kids (one exception being Ole Mi$$ but for obvious reasons).

        • Birddawg says:

Except this year…. and possibly the next..

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

That was in the past SD. We are 3rd now bitch!

  • Dustin says:

You all fall for his crap every time. Minimize and move on.

    • cush creekmont says:

Dustin, without replying to any trolls, what do you make of that mighty aggie, sec team that has to rent a graduate OU QB to field a team? And wouldn’t it be something if the “powerful” sec defenses gave up plays to that little 12-2 second teamer?

      • Dustin says:

I can’t stand atm but I hope Trevor leads them to an SEC West title. Then I hope the lower ranked team wins the SEC title game so they get left out of the CFP.

        • Rick says:

          Good plan!

        • DrewChubbs says:

Even in that scenario, I don’t think ESecPN will allow the SEC to be left out. They will ESecPiN that narrative and the SEC will probably get both division champs and an at-large team in the CFP by time they are done.

      • Stephen Dale says:

If Trevor Knight can replicate his bowl game performance against others this fall, he’ll lead aTm to several wins………….

    • Bob Edwards says:

Yep, wrestle with a pig and all you end up doing is getting covered in mud because the pig is too stupid to admit defeat.

    • Cav66 says:

Guilty. The pull of the dark side can be strong.

  • Dustin says:

How much of an impression do you think we made on Marvin Wilson? Is the hill a bit less steep to attain his signature? Planning future visits is a good sign, no?

    • Stephen Dale says:

good question…..most websites have long forecast Wilson to LSU but who knows ? He seems to enjoy every visit wherever it might be. Does OU have a legitimate chance for him ? Maybe / maybe not. Most likely, one of his ‘uncles’ will steer him someplace just as Velus Jones’s ‘uncle’ steered him to USC after USC had already received 5 other WR commits….No school needs Wilson any worse than OU. that’s for sure.

    • Cav66 says:

I would think that can’t be anything but a good sign. Would love to see him become a Sooner! We need some high quality DL signees.

  • JrsySooner says:

    • KJ1123 says:

      Tennessee??? Here we go again.

      • cush creekmont says:

Oh, KJ – Tenn will be really, really good…until they lose just barely to LSU or Alabama or Fla or Georgia or all of them.

      • Rick says:

Reading SEC crap on the net, most see OUr victory in KVille last year as a fluke and UT giving up and giving in, and that great roster….etc., and etc. They were for the most part competitive at best last year, and won a few games, but…. I think the only other team in CFB gets a pass more as an “up and coming” team also wears orange and resides in Stoolwater.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Rick, I was at the game in Knoxville and let me tell you…. Their fans were awful after the win we had. I can handle the trash talk before the games, bc I’m not a child, but the things I heard out of their fans mouths were just unbelievable. It was really a disappointment bc the Tennessee fans that I met in Norman the year before were awesome and I enjoyed spending time with them. I get they lost the game but they should have acted way different. I remember the ND OU game that had Gameday there and I remember a lot of Sooner fans talking massive amounts of crap to the ND fans and after the game it was a ghost town and no one was even talking lol. It’s not easy taking L’s at your home stadium, but we’ve all had them and it’s about acting like an adult. Oh well.

          • KJ1123 says:

I wasn’t there but I heard the same thing. Some of the kids on the sideline were blown away by some of the things they were saying. Which is why I can totally understand this reaction…

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Oh if I had a dollar for every time I heard the N word I would have had my trip payed for lol. The bird by Byrd was an accurate response imo. I understand since he’s a representation of OUr school he shouldn’t have done it, but I fully understand it. The next away game I’ll be going to is tOSU, so hopefully their fans will be more respectful after we walk out of the shoe with a big ole victory 🙂

          • KJ1123 says:

I’ll be there too, I hope so. I know we will regardless.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I hope you can make it! We always travel well, so I expect a good amount of Sooner fans at the game. Maybe I’ll let you buy me a beer and brat? ?

          • Rick says:

I was in Knoxville during the game. Not at the game, but at my niece’s house about a mile away watching on the tube. She is a prof at UT, hubby is an engineer grad from UT. I got ribbed for 2 and a half quarters and silence from the middle of the 4th qtr on. Arrogance runs in bloodlines too. Boomer!

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I remember the feeling I had when that first half was going on. I kept thinking to myself, man, we have this game, we just need to cut the mistakes. When baker got that fade to Shepard I lost my voice. That fourth down conversion by Mayfield was awesome too. I couldn’t talk for 2 days after that game lol.

          • Rick says:

I have watched a lot of amazing performances by elite athletes at OU over the years, but I have never witnessed a performance quite like Bake’s, by an “ok” athlete with “better than ok” talent, and heart that is unmatchable, take apart a team in their own back yard.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I was just so pleased to see us not roll over and die. If that game was going on the previous year then we would have never made a comeback and probably would have lost 3-4 games. Once that game was over I knew this was a special group of guys.

          • cush creekmont says:

In that game, I’ll go with Shep. The conversion catch was so close to impossible that impossible had both hands on Shep’s helmet.

          • Rick says:

I don’t have any argument on Shep’s performance either. To me, the difference is, Shep is an elite athlete/talent, Bake is superior heart/winner.

          • cush creekmont says:

Okay, but I’m glad we had the talent and the heart of BOTH – Shep is all crimson and cream. Bake after TWO more years can be another OU legend.

          • KJ1123 says:

            Haha that’s awesome….”why so quiet…”

          • Rick says:

I did get to hold the baby!!!!

          • RocketCitySooner says:

          • Sooner Ray says:

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

What are you trying to insinuate, Ray?

          • Rick says:

            And that’s about it.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I actually think Tennessee lives up to the hype this season. I have them beating Bama in the regular season, winning the east then losing to Bama in the SECCG and making a New Years 6 bowl. Just my opinion though lol.

        • KJ1123 says:

I’ll give Tenn upfront on both sides theyre nasty. But other than Dobbs they don’t have anyone else imo.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Their passing game is atrocious, but like you said their beef on both sides of the ball is getting older and more experienced. They’ve got two solid running backs as well as Dobbs. They are lucky they don’t play and qbs who can throw a football bc their secondary is their biggest weakness. Idk man, I just think they might actually live up to the hype this year lol.

          • shawnee sooner says:
