Vernon Jackson: As some of you may know, Sooners LB target, Vernon Jackson (Boling, TX) is expected to announce his decision this weekend. Jackson visited Oklahoma over the summer. Following his visit to OU, Jackson released his top eight which included: Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Baylor, TCU, TAMU, LSU, and Ole Miss. However it was pretty well known that Jackson’s real top list at the time was a top five that included Alabama, OU, TCU, TAMU and Baylor.

While Jackson has not released another list, we are told he has narrowed his list even further and is now down to TAMU, TCU and Alabama. We are told that the Sooners appear to be out of it.

Based on a conversation with a source on the Alabama, they appear confident, “He’s headed to Alabama Saturday. Coach [Saban] loves him. Thinks he’s a five star talent. Likely inside linebacker but could grow into a defensive end”.

I spoke with a source on the TCU side and was told that the TCU staff feels Alabama is their biggest threat.

Either way it, again, come Saturday it would appear the Sooners are going to be on the outside looking in on this one. – (Super K)

Brian Asamoah | Visit: But for a bit of good news. We are told that Sooners LB target, Brian Asamoah (Columbus, OH) has tentatively set up an official visit to OU for the UTEP game scheduled for September 2nd.

Again, we are told that the visit is tentatively scheduled meaning Asamoah has expressed to the staff that he’d like to visit next weekend but it has not be set up just yet. We should know if this is an absolute go next week.

We are also told that Asamoah is looking to set up an earlier official visit to OU in order to make his decision and the staff continues to feel good about where they stand.

We will provide you confirmed details of the visit as we receive them. – (Brandon)

Team Note | Slot WR: With Nick Basquine going down, Mykel Jones was bumped up to the starting slot wide receiver. But who is competing behind and against him?

In a recent presser coach Riley mentioned the names of two walk-on WRs in Myles Tease (Tulsa, OK) and Lee Morris (Allen, TX). I am told that Morris is the guy who is rotating in first behind Jones.

I asked a source about both Tease and Morris and was told, “they know the system. They may not be the most dynamic but in this scheme you can be a system guy and have success if you know where you are supposed to be when you’re supposed to be there”.

I have been told that Charleston Rambo, who was taking some reps at the slot, has been moved back outside. I get the sense that early on Rambo in the slot looked promising but it was perhaps too much too soon for him to learn both positions. – (Super K)
