Quick Hitter | Official Visit Set | 2019 RB Kenny McIntosh
– Charlie S

– I recently touched base with 2019 running back Kenny McIntosh out of Fort Lauderdale (FL) University School.

As you may recall, Kenny was scheduled to make an unofficial visit to Norman for the Champ U BBQ but was unable to make the trip because of travel issues.

As Super K reported previously, he still was planning on making it to OU for either an unofficial visit or an early season official visit.

In following up with K’s earlier post, Kenny let me know that he will be taking an official visit to Norman for the Baylor weekend, which is September 29th.

While OU already has one running back in the fold for the 2019 class in Marcus Major, McIntosh remains a focus for the Sooners as sources have consistently maintained that they would like to take two backs in this class.

I have already made arrangements to speak with Kenny again as the date for his visit approaches.

Quick-Hitters | Milton, Ricks, Barnes, Murray
– Super K

This past weekend, 2020 5-star DB Elias Ricks sent out a big…

Then, 5-star running back, Kendall Milton did the same…

https://twitter.com/therealkmilt/status/1031344120583806976

As you know, Ricks is teammates with Sooners 2020 CB commit, Darion Green-Warren. I just wanted to note here that I had recently asked Kendall if there was anyone, in particular, he wants to play with at the next level and he said, “Elias Ricks”.

Expect Milton to make it out to Norman after the season and you can read more on him below.

***I mentioned this past weekend that during the scrimmage Jordan Parker caused a fumble. I had heard that Kyler Murray actually fumbled the ball twice (source actually said 2 or 3 times). Neither was caused by Parker.

Apparently, Parker hit a running back who fumbled the ball.

Murray had one slip on a read option and the other was a strip sack.

Nothing to worry about, in my opinion. Just working out the kinks.

***Also, haven’t received any details just yet, though I plan on it, but was told that Robert Barnes had a really good day at FS. The more I look at it the more it would appear that what the Sooners are trying to do is get their best three DBs on the field. For the most part, they can all play multiple positions.

So, while moving Bookie back to SS may have been because of how well Broiles is playing at nickel, it also feels like they want Bookie, Broiles, and Barnes all on the field. If I had to say there is a 4th guy, I’d image it’s Jordan Parker right now.

***Another note, I was told that while the Sooners started camp in a lot of nickel, they were apparently in their base defense quite a bit this past Saturday.

2019 DE David Ugwoegbu | Return Visit Expected
– Super K

I spoke with the head coach over at Seven Lakes (Katy, TX) about his star 2019 defensive end, David Ugwoegbu. David holds a Sooners offer along with a number of others including offers from Alabama, Texas A&M, and Texas.

I plan on stopping by to see David in person, this week.

His coach did mention over the phone that David has already visited Oklahoma unofficially. He has yet to take any official visits but said that Oklahoma will be one of the official visits David takes.

Coach also noted that the top two schools to watch in this recruitment are OU and Texas A&M.

I hope to have more on this after I get a chance to see the 6’5 pass rusher in person.

Introducing 2020 RB Kendall Milton
– Super K

If you’re on this site, you follow recruiting. And if you follow recruiting, you know who Kendall Milton is. He’s been mentioned on our site and he’s one of the few 5-star running backs in the 2020 class.

Milton hails from Clovis, CA (Buchanan) which is in the Fresno area, an area the Sooners have had a lot of recruiting success in. In fact, current inside backer, Caleb Kelly hails from the same area; as does, coach Chip Viney.

Speaking with both Kendall and his father, Chris, it’s evident that there are strong ties to both Kelly and Viney.

“Chip Viney, that’s the homie. That’s close family”, Kendall said about coach Viney. “He went to Edison and my dad coached at Buchanan and my trainer played against him”. Chris Milton emphasized those ties as well, “Viney, that’s my dude. He’s from Fresno. We know a lot of the same people. He’s my guy”.

Chris and Kendall’s ties to Caleb Kelly might be even closer, as Chris said, “That is my kid. I was his first youth football coach”.

Milton also grew up with his father coaching him. He’s a combination of incredible genetics, incredible nurturing and a real love for the game. That is a rare and dangerous mix…for opponents.

“My dad was my brothers youth football coach so I grew up with a love for the game and around the game all my life”. Milton’s brother that he’s referring to is Fresno State defensive back, Ka’Lonn Milton.

Kendall’s talent was nurtured from a young age by his father but the genetics are the genetics. In other words, it is what it is. Barely into his junior year, he already stands at 6’1 and weighs nearly 220 lbs.

His father is 6’3. His mother is 5’10. His mother’s brother – his paternal uncle – is none other than Kevin Hardy. As many of you may know, Kevin Hardy was the second overall draft pick in the 1996 NFL draft.

In other words, what you see in the image above is impressive but what he may look like when he arrives on a campus in about a year and a half, is going to be…ridiculous.

And in case you missed what I laid down above, yes, Milton plans to be an early enrollee. So, it just gets better and better.

One more bite to chew. As big as Milton is, he’s fast…really fast. As a freshman in high school, Milton clocked a 10.8 100.

When you cut on his film, you see it all. You see the violence and the willingness to dish it out. Milton looks like he savors it. But you don’t just see a big guy who can run through tackles, you see the acceleration up the sideline. You see the ability to read blocks, change direction, make guys miss in the hole and then fire up field like he’s shot out of a cannon.

I remember going back and forth via text with Broyles while we were watching a game a few years ago and I said something about a particular offensive player and Broyles commented saying, “he doesn’t have a scorers mentality”. We all know Broyles did. He would do whatever he had to do to get in the end zone. That comment stayed with me and I started paying closer attention to that in offensive players. Milton absolutely looks like he has it. He sees the end zone and he shakes the earth to get there.

Recruiting

Milton’s recruitment began early. He picked up his first offer as an eighth grader when BYU came calling. Fresno State, not surprisingly, was his second offer, followed by UCLA.

The Sooners visited Milton in the spring and an offer followed.

Since Milton’s recruiting began early, he’s already had a chance to visit a number of schools. He’s been to USC “quite a few times”. He’s also been to Florida State, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, and Washington among others.

A visit to OU hasn’t happened yet but it’s coming, “I will for sure be visiting Oklahoma. It’s just a matter of when”. Milton says the visit will likely happen sometime after this season.

Milton is a little ahead of the recruiting game as he has already released a top ten.

And, according to Chris Milton, they are eying a possible July commitment. I expect the Sooners to be in this battle till the end.

NewWave19 | Updated Big Board
– Charlie S

Current number of scholarship players on the roster: 80

Number of players exhausting their eligibility after the 2018 season: 12

Current number of verbal commitments for 2019: 17

Without any underclassmen declaring or any transfers, OU would be at the maximum of 85 players on scholarship.

Allow for anticipating 4-5 early departures, the number for the NewWave19 class should be between 20 – 24.

The Sooners will lose a relatively low amount of scholarships as well next year so they could choose to stay on the low end in anticipation of saving some scholarships for the ’20 class.

So in my opinion, there are anywhere between three and seven spots remaining for the ’19 class.

Quarterback: 1 – Done

Spencer Rattler

Runningback: 1 (Would like 2)

Marcus Major

Targets: Tyrion Davis, Noah Cain, Kenny McIntosh

***McIntosh would represent the best shot for the Sooners at this point as he informed us he would be Officially visiting for the Baylor weekend on September 29th

***Noah Cain and Trey Sanders have continued to mention OU on occasion, however, I don’t see either as being serious about OU at this point…should one of them commit to LSU that could give Tyrion Davis (LSU Commit) some more incentive to look deeper at the Sooners

Wide receiver: 3 – Done

Trejan Bridges

Arjei Henderson

Theo Wease

***Could potentially take one more IF the player is a can’t turn down type such as Haselwood/McCoy/Wilson…again, not a lot of smoke there at THIS time and the Sooners appear set for now.

Tightend/Hback: 1 – Done

Austin Stogner

***Keep an eye on the HBacks throughout fall camp, you may see a spot open up for a player like Keon Zipperer or recent OU visitor and Baylor commit Logan Compton.

Offensive Line: 5

Marcus Alexander

EJ Ndoma-Ogar

Stacey Wilkins

***OT Danielson Ike, OT Evan Neal, and maybe OT Ira Henry are currently the most notable realistic high school targets at this point with Jonah Tauanu’u having committed to Oregon recently (OU will continue to recruit him)

***Finley Felix (Coffeyville C.C.) is a JUCO OT to keep an eye on as he told Super K he will be officially visiting Norman this season as will Penn State commit Anthony Whigan.

***Would not be surprised to see an OL offer or two being extended once the high school season starts.

Defensive Line: 5

Derek Green

Marcus Hicks

Kori Roberson

Joseph Wete (DL/OLB)

***DL Marcus Stripling and JUCO DL Jacoby Jones have told us they will be taking official visits to Norman (Jones on September 1st)

***DL/OLB David Ugwoegbu, DL Braylen Ingraham are some other names still being mentioned

Linebacker: 2*

Jonathan Perkins

***Shammond Cooper is planning on officially visiting, no date set yet. Illinois appears to be the leading competition for the Sooners.

***Marcel Brooks is one to keep an eye on and we wouldn’t be shocked to see a visit take place at some point

DB: 4*

Jaden Davis

Jamal Morris

Woodi Washington

***Peyton Powell has risen to the forefront at safety and he will be taking an official visit to Norman for the FAU game on September 1st. He is looking to make an announcement early in the fall.

***Jordan Battle, Jalen Catalon, Noa Pola-Gates, Cam’ron Kelly, and Isaiah Rutherford are still in touch with OU

Now, while I won’t predict the finish of the class as there are way too many moving pieces, I would be confident saying that Bedenbaugh brings in at least one more OL which would bring the number of commitments to 18.

Add in a defensive back and you’re at 19.

Take that linebacker and you’re already at 20.

To go above the 20 mark, OU will have the opportunity to be very picky, which is a good thing as the season takes off and some teams face some adversity which could open the door for the Sooners to potentially flip/sway a few top-tier kids.
