Team Notes | Scrimmage: Spoke to a couple sources and here are a few notes from last night’s scrimmage:

*Coach Riley was quoted saying there was, “a lot of back-and-forth” and that very much jives with what I was told. Source I spoke to said that there really wasn’t a winner. Offense won some series and the defense won some series and added, “it’s really be back and forth all camp. The offense hasn’t just dominated the defense” which is what one might have expected.

*Was told there weren’t a ton of big plays. Mark Andrews had a TD. Ceedee Lamb had a couple competitive catches.

*Also, told Abdul had a long TD run but source said, “it was against the 2s or 3s so it’s tough to know how much to read into that”. Between all the running backs Abdul apparently had the best day but again, it sounds like he was running behind both Anderson and Sutton so he’d be going up against the 2 and 3 defense.

*All the running backs took snaps, including Rodney Anderson. Anderson’s snaps were limited. I assume they are just trying to keep him healthy for the season. I was told that Anderson took a pretty big hit on the very first carry but came right back.

*There were no INTs. Was told that there were a few sacks. Obo, Curtis Bolton and Matthew Romar all had sacks.

*JMT is still out. I am told they expect him back by Monday. Kenneth Murray took the snaps at MLB and source said pretty much what we’ve heard all summer, “he’s still behind the learning curve. He’ll give you a great play and then he’ll give you a ‘what are you doing?’ play”.

*Over the weekend Jeff Mead was clearly the star. I was told there really wasn’t an offensive player that stood out yesterday. Jeff Badet did not go. Smallwood was the starter on the outside.

*Overall not a ton to note. Probably the best note I received from a source on the OU side was… – (Super K)

Team Note | Tyreece Lott: In the course of one of my discussions about yesterday’s scrimmage, I spoke with a source about the young defensive linemen and asked if anyone really stood out. The source said that both Zach McKinney and Troy James will be solid players for OU but the guy I was told is going to be the star is Oklahoma native, Tyreece Lott. Source said, “Tyreece is going to be a freak. Give him a year and you’ll see. He’s way better than anyone anticipated. He’s going to be special. He jumps out.”

I asked if Lott would redshirt this year and the source said, “He could play this year. He’s on the bubble. But whether he does or not, I’m saying, give him a year”. – (Super K)
