***Was told Delarrin Turner-Yell was the days defensive standout! Source said, “Turner-Yell was the big key today. He’s so much better than you would expect”. Yell was at SS today as both Bookie and Patrick Fields were out. I’m told Bookie has a bit of lingering hamstring issue. – Super K

***Told it was a good day for Neville Gallimore who when healthy is a really good player. As we mentioned in an earlier report he started out camp in a boot but since getting back on the field in the last three workouts he has been the Sooners best down lineman.

When Gallimore can go he is a difference maker along that defensive line. – Guest Contributor James Hale

***Was told that the offense ran the ball really well but the defense still won the day. It sounds like it was raining pretty hard though and the team played through it. So, I suspect that affected the passing game. – Super K

***Was told Coach Bill Bedenbaugh is still trying to decide who is going to play left tackle. Source indicated that during the scrimmage, Bobby Evans was at left tackle and Cody Ford was at right tackle whereas they started the camp just the opposite. – Guest Contributor James Hale

***Am told at linebacker John Michael Terry actually had a good day at the Jack position and was also told that DaShaun White had a near interception but dropped it. – Super K

***Another player I’m told stood out in the scrimmage was defensive end, Kenneth Mann. Sources tell me Mann has been impossible to keep out of the backfield and he’s always changing the line of scrimmage. Guest Contributor James Hale

JUCO Offensive Linemen | Names To Keep In Mind
– Charlie S

The 2019 offensive line class currently includes three high school verbal commits in EJ Ndoma-Ogar (OG), Marcus Alexander (OG), and Stacey Wilkins (OT). The Sooners would like to add another high school tackle, with Danielson Ike, Evan Neal, and Ira Henry among those being targeted, as well as a JUCO tackle.

Last week, the Sooners missed out on JUCO offensive tackle Anthony Whigan (Lackawanna C.C., PA) who committed to Penn State and some of you are wondering why the Sooners are looking for a JUCO lineman at all.

Coming into the ’19 cycle, the staff was looking for a total of five offensive linemen. Four high school players and a JUCO player based on the possibility that they could lose as many as seven (Alvarez, Samia, Powers, Mittermeier, Dalton, Ford, Evans) experienced linemen following the 2018 season.

So with that number in mind, and knowing that for the time being Whigan (who is still planning on taking his official to OU) is committed to Penn State, the Sooners have one remaining JUCO OL offer out there, and that belongs to Finley Felix (6’5″ | 303 | Coffeyville C.C. | Coffeyville, KS) who told Super K that he will be taking an Official Visit.

Below you will find some quotes from a trio of JUCO offensive lineman who remain in contact with the Sooners, but have not received an offer. They are among several names to watch going forward.

Tim Anderson – 6’5″ | 270 | Saddlebrook College | Mission Viejo, CA

“I’ve been talking a decent amount to Coach Bedenbaugh over the past month or so which has been great! Very very interested in the OU program. Would be an awesome place to play ball at!

“I’m a December grad with three years to play two seasons. We haven’t talked of a visit yet, but Coach Bedenbaugh mentioned he’s going to try to make it out to one of my practices during the season”.

Chibueze Nwanna – 6’7″ | 315 | Lackawanna C.C. | Scranton, PA

“I have been talking to Coach Bedenbaugh, the O line coach. He has just been keeping me updated with their camp and keeping in contact to see how I am doing”.

“I think OU is a good school. Been talking to them a lot throughout camp to let them know how I’m doing. They haven’t said anything about an offer yet, but hopefully, they will”.

Khalique Washington – 6’5″ | 290 | Dodge City C.C. | Dodge City, KS

“I speak to the offensive line coach, Coach Bedenbaugh, almost every day”.

“I think Coach B is a great coach and has an unbelievable understanding of the O Line position”.

Quick Hitter | 2019 DB Jalyn Phillips
– Charlie S

– Sooners 2019 defensive back offer and spring game official visitor, Jalyn Phillps (Lawrenceville, GA) will announce his commitment next week…

We have checked in with a source in Georgia and we have been told that as of a few weeks ago, Phillips had indicated that the choice will be Clemson.

We will check with a few sources on the OU side to see what their take is on his impending commitment and we will update you if there is any difference of opinion but as of right now, we feel that Clemson is the call.

Jonah Tauanu’u Visit Still a Possibility
– Super K

As you know by now, Sooners OT target, Jonah Tauanu’u recently announced his commitment to Oregon. I noted earlier in the week that, while not ideal for the Sooners, it would make sense to assume that their chances of flipping an LA recruit committed to Oregon are better than doing so with an LA recruit committed to USC.

Before the commitment, Jonah was scheduled to visit Oklahoma for the Bedlam game.

I asked Jonah’s mother if that visit would still take place. As many of you may know, Jonah’s mother seems to really like the idea of Jonah playing for the Sooners.

Jonah’s mother had hoped Jonah would delay a decision until after his official visit but said Jonah had made up his mind that he was ready to commit. She has been vocal about not wanting Jonah to go to USC. Oregon wasn’t her first choice (it sounds like Oklahoma was), but she’s more comfortable with Jonah at Oregon than USC.

On the matter of the return visit to OU, Jonah’s mother said, “I’m not sure how that works. I told him once he’s committed, he’s done. He’s not going to commit and still be hanging at USC games and taking visits…”

Here’s where it get’s interesting.

“But if Lincoln Riley comes calling it might be a little different. But, I just don’t feel right having these schools come out of their pocket for us to visit if he’s already made up his mind. I don’t take kindly to people wasting my time or money, so I’d hate to do it to anyone else.”

I pressed a little here essentially asking, should OU want to give themselves that shot…then what?

“I’m still up for anything OU…if he flips, OU is the only way to go.”

How Good is Trejan Bridges?
– Super K

After an off-season full of acrobatic catches and highlights on even the best defensive backs in the country, Rivals.com has bumped Sooners 2019 wide receiver commit, Trejan Bridges to a 5-star prospect.

I spoke with former BYU and NFL wide receiver, Margin Hooks. Coach Hooks trains many of the top wide receivers in the state of Texas including Trejan Bridges.

Hooks has worked with a number of guys around the country but also many wide receivers currently on OU’s roster – CeeDee Lamb, Charleston Rambo, and Hollywood Brown to name a few.

Here’s what coach Hooks said about Trejan Bridges:

“He has a gift from God. He has the best hands I have ever seen in my life. If the ball is in his vicinity he’s gonna contort his body and catch the ball. If rate hands on a scale of one to ten, he’s a twelve”.

High praise from a former all-conference wide receiver himself, who has seen and worked with some of the best.
