Brandon Burton: This past weekend OU hosted 2016 star ATH Brandon Burton (Gardena, CA). I caught up with Burton to see how his trip went. The Sooners clearly exceeded even Burton’s own expectations. He said, “Man, I had so much fun there…it was even better than I expected.”

There have been some questions about what position Burton is being recruited at by the Sooners and he told me, “they want me to play DB”. He said he has a close relationship to both coach Cooks and coach Simmons though his relationship with Simmons is likely based on the fact that Simmons recruits his area. I asked Burton if distance would be an issue and he said it would not and further added, “me and my family are open to all options.”

Burton doesn’t have a decision date set but he does have a few more officials following last weekend’s trip to Norman including visits to Florida State, Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State. Tough to say what the Sooners chances are of landing Burton but it’s safe to say they thoroughly impressed him. That’s all you can ask for. – (Super K)

Sci Martin and Stephon Taylor: 2016 defensive end Sci Martin (New Orleans, LA) and his teammate 2016 DT Stephon Taylor were also in Norman this past weekend. It sounds like the Sooners impressed the duo as well. Martin told me that the trip was “better…by far” than what he and Taylor expected.

They apparently spent plenty of time with coach Diron Reynolds who Martin described as “cool” and laid back which seems to be the consensus amongst recruits. Martin tells me does not have a decision date set yet either but said that he and Stephon will likely visit TCU and Arizona State for their final trips.

Here’s the deal. When looking at their offer sheets you can see Martin holds an LSU offer and Taylor holds an Alabama offer (he’s originally from Alabama) and an LSU offer which makes things seem rather impossible. But I spoke to a couple sources on this matter and here is what I was told.

Sci Martin’s offer to LSU does stand. They still have a spot for him. I was told that his family actually expected him to commit to LSU the day he was offered and it sounds like that’s where his father wants him to go. But I’m told that Martin is an independent person and refused to commit and that leaving the state for him is very possible. Before his trip to Norman, he was high on TCU but it seems Oklahoma has his attention now as well.

Stephon Taylor’s situation is really interesting. You have an elite high school defensive tackle with elite size, the kind of players OU needs to get if they want to start matching teams like Baylor with 2 high safeties and not have to worry about being outnumbered in the box. Stephon held an LSU and Alabama offer at one time but I’m told that those spots have since been filled. In other words the possibility of him ending up at Oklahoma seems far more realistic than I once would have thought. – (Super K)

Kellen Diesch: Just a quick note on 2016 OT Kellen Diesch (Trophy Club, TX). As you all know by now he decommitted from Arkansas yesterday and has been a top priority recruit for the Sooners for quite some time. Yesterday Diesch confirmed via text to me that OU is one of the schools he is considering and that he is planning to visit soon. – (Alex)

Jean Delance: Just though it might be of interest to Sooner fans to know that Delance told me this morning that he will be at the Red River Rivalry game this weekend. He will be hosted by Texas. I also should note that although he has not made it known, I have been told that things between him and the Sooners are not necessarily done. He has avoided talking about Oklahoma because he doesn’t want to cause a stir. – (Super K, Brandon)

  • Zack says:

So delance is on an unofficial with Texas but are they allowed to host recruits on an “away” game. OU is the “home” team this year right?

Personally I know he’s a great prospect but as a fan I don’t appreciate the way he handled his de-commitment. If I didn’t care to see lampkin at OU, then I sure don’t care to see delance.

    • SamSooner says:

      I think texsa is.

    • Golfluvr13 says:

We are the visitors this year.

    • hOUligan says:

Delance is just a kid and as such, impressionable. He made a knee jerk reaction to the events in Norman. Come home, Jean. All is forgiven.

      • Zack says:

I’m just saying for me it’s issue. If he chooses to come to OU and says the right things then I may feel differently. I get that he’s a kid.

        • hOUligan says:

Agreed. I did not like how it went down and, at least at the time, seemed like a thin excuse. But who knows. Just not into holding on to things like this. I screw up daily and I’m retirement age. Glad most don’t hold all my screw-ups against me.

      • Golfluvr13 says:

He’s a teenager and he made a mistake. If we just take a breath and think about our teenage years (for some of us that was a LONG time ago), we know that we made mistakes all the time. I have no problem with him changing his mind and coming home to Norman.

    • lulzer says:

OU is the home team in even years, and not surprisingly, texsa is the home team on “odd” years.

  • Cush Creekmont says:

Thanks for the OP. I don’t get too, too about recruiting until the season is over and we approach signing day. I do appreciate the info since it gives a “feel” for OUr overall recruiting direction.

Though I must say, Martin & Taylor would be a heck of a pair!

  • lulzer says:

Any info on Bond? Read he may not be available?

  • Jofield says:

Anyone think that DeLance will have a tough time explaining his actions if decides to come to OU? I mean, he blamed his decommitment on the SAE ordeal and most of his didn’t really believe that was the real reason. Now if he comes back, what’s his excuse? Its just very awkward and frankly I wouldn’t mind “missing out” on him. When he decommited he could have truthfully just said, “you know what? I’m not sure, I’m gonna decommit at least for now.” The truth goes down so much easier.

    • Zack says:

      I feel the same.

    • Super K says:

I don’t think he necessarily needs to explain anything. He’s a young person who may have reacted to something and after time he may see it differently. I’ve spent time with the young man and his mother and he’s not only immensely talented (elite offensive tackle potential) but also is a hard working and sharp young man. I’d personally be happy to see him playing and succeeding for coach Bedenbaugh. I suspect coach Bedenbaugh would feel the same.

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

Agreed, people do things. Either you forgive or you don’t.

        • John Garner says:

Forgiveness is a good policy. God knows I need it almost everyday and I’m older than Moses.

        • Golfluvr13 says:

I have always believed in giving people a second chance. And sometimes even a third or fourth chance. Every person on the planet makes mistakes, I know I have made tons of them in my life. If no one forgave me I would not have anyone to speak to. I never have a problem giving someone another shot. (Just my two cents worth)

      • Indy_sooner says:

Ditto. As long as he can knock some teeth out of Bevo, I’m okay with it

      • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

…so long as Bedebaugh makes him run a little extra. You know, just to make sure they get that overreaction out of his system. Just in case.

      • Jofield says:

Oh sure, he is young, I get that. He is just not at the top of the list for me.

      • Recondo says:

Exactly. Remember these are just kids stuck in massive bodies. Ask him every hour which way he’d leaning and you’ll get a different answer each time. Not a bad thing, he’s just growing up and being asked to make a huge choice with no real base of experience to draw from. We all overreacted to incidents as young men and I’m sure this is a similar situation.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

        Brown and Delance bookends.

      • Stephen Dale says:

of those mentioned in the article, Diesch is probably the most likely to become a Sooner and the chance of that happening is not that great…..think the Sooners gotta keep looking for a DE / OL / DL…….seems like Marcel Southall might be the DL the Sooners will get….

      • soonermusic says:

“I don’t think he necessarily needs to explain anything. He’s a young person who may have reacted to something and after time he may see it differently.” Very well put, K. If in fact he was following his conscience, then he probably didn’t do anything for which forgiveness is necessary, even if some here don’t agree with his judgement and would have handled it differently, and if he has a change of heart because he looks at it differently later, he should be welcome to do so.

      • K, you may be right, but I think we could do a lot better. Not sure he is mature enough to handle big league football. May be a really gifted kid, but gifted does not equal maturity. As you know, getting a kid ready to play at the next level is harder mentally than physically. Would love to see him end up at Texas and not OU. I may be wrong, but I don’t think he would be a good one for us to take a chance on.

    • Clint Lenard says:

Agreed. His little pot stirring for publicity was uncalled for. Hope he goes to Texas…they need him, we don’t.

      • John Garner says:

You might want to rethink this reply. Tell me a kid that hasn’t done a bone-headed thing. I’ll leave to Coach B to decide. He knows what he needs in terms of character and skills. I, for one, however, would give the kid a pass.

      • I agree. While we can all agree that most of the kids who come to OU need to mature, the real question is how long will it take them to mature! If it takes more than 3-4 years, you wasted a scholarship. I think he may be one of those kids who takes a lot longer to mature, so why waste a scholarship on him. But, like all of us, I am just an outsider looking in. Hopefully our staff is doing a lot of homework on the kid.

    • DCinAZ says:

He doesn’t owe anybody any sort of explanation IMO. It was an ugly incident that was all over national media. I’m sure his parents saw that. Would you want your son going to a school if you saw something like that break out?

Factor in the Eric Striker outburst that followed and the team drama that lasted for several weeks and it sure creates a bad impression from afar of the culture at OU.

      • Dick Bump says:

I agree it was a nasty situation with what else was going on in the country. I think the players and staff handled it as well as could be expected.

    • guest says:

Some youthful, high school indiscretions can be forgiven and forgotten. There’s a lot of racism in this world. Maybe he experienced it at his high school and is very sensitive to it. Maybe he was impressed at the way OU exposed it and handled it with zero tolerance. DeLance isn’t a perfect person, he’s like everyone else. He should be welcomed with open arms if he ultimately chooses OU. As Coach Stoops says, the university is an educational institution. School is a place you go to learn things you didn’t know before, even about yourself; and to be introduced to perspectives you didn’t know about. Growth and development is a part of life.

  • Golfluvr13 says:

There really is no comparison to the one and only Oklahoma Sooners! They have this set to a minimum of 15 games played as a top 10 team. They really should raise the bar to 100 and see where it falls!

    • Jake says:

    • Recondo says:

Agree this should be a minimum of 100 games in top 10. The difference in games on this graphic is crazy. I’m guessing we’d see Michigan and Bama just below OU if this was done right.

    • DrewChubbs says:

I definitely believe we have the 15 game minimum covered.

        • Golfluvr13 says:

Oh man, I found something we will never agree on. I root for three teams in the NFL. The Packers, The Chiefs, and anyone playing the donkeys. LOL

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Well the Chef’s still have one more shot at beating us. But with the way our D has been performing it is kind of iffy for em.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

The Chefs have no offensive line, or should I say their o-line is offensive? LOL! And they need a QB. Their defense is pretty good, but they are on the field to much (a problem OUr Sooners had last year).

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Man what a difference a year makes.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

No joke! It’s nice to have an offense that can move the ball. But equally as nice is having a defense that CAN get off the field.

          • John Garner says:

The “donkeys”! I love it! Thanks for the good laugh.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

No problem. My Dad is a HUGE donkeys fan and growing up he used to abuse my brother and I by taking us to games there.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Not me. Growing up the games I got to watch involved the Chiefs and Packers so I grew to like them, even though they were horrible. Just like rooting for the Braves, they were always on TV so I got to watch them. But I went to Royals games because we lived close to KC at the time. I rarely watch the NoFunLeague. I prefer Saturday football.

          • BleedCrimson says:

Raiders guy, but have always liked the Broncos and Chiefs. Weird, Right?!?

          • BleedCrimson says:

Me and the boy at the KC game with our Chiefs friends. Had a great time. (Did wonder about my life a few times…jk lol)

          • Golfluvr13 says:

LOL! That’s like being a Sooners fan that doesn’t mind the shorthorns.. I will say that I met Al Davis and the Raiders (at Arrowhead stadium) in the early 80’s. My 6th grade football team was playing in our championship game and they let us play it at Arrowhead. It was awesome. We got to hang out with the Chiefs and Raiders after our game and I must say I felt VERY small that day. Those were some big boys. But they were all, every single one of them, encouraging us and talking about plays we made. I was on cloud 9 that day.

          • BleedCrimson says:

That would be a memorable day for sure. I bet you cant keep a smile off your face when thinking about it.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Yeah, it was a really cool day. Lamar Hunt spoke to us (both teams) and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met.

    • ouwooferman says:

      24/7 – 365 = 0

0 = Number of wins for UT in october.

  • Cole says:

Correct me if I’m wrong but hasn’t every bigtime Serra recruit or any SoCal kid that has visited said it was “better than expected” and always seem like OU was in good position and end up staying in Cali?

    • Zack says:

just need to land one. I’m surprised we didn’t go after their qb last year, I thought he was an OU legacy.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Gardena Serra is USC territory, for sure. But if you can get one it opens doors to more. Gotta keep pushing it til one pulls the trigger for the good guys.

    • John Garner says:

Don’t know about the pickings in Gardena Sierra, but we just plucked a heckuva LB out of Rancho Cucamonga. That’s SoCal and it was his OV that sold him on OU.

      • Zack says:

We have a great presence in Cali, it’s just a matter of time before we land one of these JS kids burton may be the one. I wish we would have got Dwight Williams and adoree.

  • hOUligan says:

Burton looks like he’s 22 and nfl ready. OU has 11 ‘commits’ and most are saying will have 20 available schollies max. Was looking over the offers and just try to pick which 9 you would take. And that’s IF there are 20 scholarships. A good conundrum to have.

  • KJ1123 says:

My take on the Delance news is….he decommitted from OU because of the SAE thing and because his family was not happy about it. I believe he stated a while back that if grandma or mom was good with OU then all would be good with him. I dont think he would flip just because it would seem that his family would need a really good reason to support him flipping back to OU…not just because he had a change of heart. But….you never know.

    • John Garner says:

I gotta believe that Coach Stoops’ reaction and support of the players who protested and that of the administration in general would sway Momma.

      • KJ1123 says:

I hope so. If anything, I feel he overreacted instead of sitting back and seeing how things played out. But, he’s young and hopefully understands you can’t always make snap emotional decisions.

        • John Garner says:

Exactly, he’s young. Who hasn’t f’d up at that stage in life. Heck, I’m old and still do.

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Good one! Hey if he wants to come to OU and truly be committed there’s room.

  • bommer85 says:

We should not have passed on 4 star Shurod Thompson. He said he was ready to commit to OU but was told spots were full. Bad move to turn away a top ranked S when a lot of kids we get these days are 3 stars

    • ouwooferman says:

offers come after review of transcripts, discussion with coaches and who knows what else. Sometimes things float up that are not skill set driven.

      • Jofield says:

I also have to put some trust in the OU Staff’s talent evaluation. Mack Brown got all the stars he wanted but it didn’t always help.

        • bommer85 says:

all very good points. i guess I’m still missing that Roy Williams esque game changer we haven’t had since

          • hushnpa says:

            Stryker that remark 🙂

          • Jofield says:

Aren’t we all? But to be honest, just look at all the way that Stephen Parker effects games. He is not Roy Williams but he is really dang good and just a sophomore.

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

to be fair, Roy Williams is the only Roy Williams type player that will ever play at OU most likely. Im hoping Steven Parker sets a level for himself others aspire to. As a kid, I played safety and Rickey Dixon was one of my favorite Sooners ever.

        • Matt says:

not to mention all the 5-stars and 4-stars at Tennessee

    • MoJoOkie says:

      May be

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Maybe the coaches feel better about someone else?

    • hushnpa says:

all signs point to there being some kind of red flag for this kid with us – best of luck to him tho

      • Bill Holder says:

I think I read where he said they no longer had an opening for him, which to me means they aren’t taking anymore at his position. But, they are still recruiting his position.

    • Jim says:

I don’t think we “passed” on him, IIRC. I believe his spot got filled, so he was told a spot was no longer available. I want to say it was when we landed Sylvie that his spot was gone. I could be wrong though.

      • bommer85 says:

well then lets hope Sylvie is a beast

        • EasTex says:

I’ve seen two of his games this year. His football speed is 4.nothin’ and he tackles with bad intentions. I like this young man’s game and his “all in” with the Sooners even more.

          • Dustin says:

I was just about to say the same. I watched his team on ESPNU a couple weeks back and he knocked the other team’s QB out of the game for some time. I saw somewhere that he had 18 or so tackles last Friday. Dude is a baller and is going to do great things at OU.

          • EasTex says:

He is fearsome back there and will live in the heads of Big 12 WRs, QBs and RBs rent free.

          • Dustin says:

I hate comparing players, but he reminds me of Everage a bit.

          • EasTex says:

With his eagerness to be a human Hellfire missile, I can see that as comparable.

          • Walter Sobcek says:

Everage. Loved that dude. He needed clearance from Houston before launching.

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

Larger and nastier version of Jonathan Nelson IMO. Will be all over the field

          • EasTex says:

When he fills out and gets his grown man body I pity the fools that have to play against him. His aggressiveness, desire and speed are formidable.

        • Zack says:

Sylvie from the small amount I’ve seen looks to be an OU guy. And that statement is also based on how he handles himself on social media and things like that. He reminds me almost 100% of Sunderland.

          • DCinAZ says:

He’s very socially polished for as young as he is. Seems to have a big personality as well. Very happy with this kid.

        • DCinAZ says:

On film Sylie looks like a Karl Joseph type and he tweeted out footage of Joseph as the kind of safety he plans on being. This doesn’t make me angry. 😉

    • Jofield says:

Nobody is “ready to commit”. They are either commited or not. He held and offer and was uncommited. Cooks means it when he says “reserve your spot”. There are a very, very small number of players for which we will open a fifth spot. He had every chance in the world to take the fourth spot and he didn’t.

      • bommer85 says:

The point i was making is we arent at the level where turning down high caliber talent, especially in the secondary is wise (barring transcripts, off the field issues pointed out above). Its not like we have 5 stars lining up. I like the “reserve ur spot now” idea but it doesnt mean u turn down talent

        • Jofield says:

That’s exactly what it means! There are a limited number of spots per position. What else could that possibly mean? When we take an “extra” player at safety that means we are not going to take an OL or DL or LB or something. It is a zero sum game. There are 85 scholarships available. We don’t get 86 scholarships just because someone has a fourth star.

        • Zack says:

I’m not quite sure Oregon state’s academic standards, but my guess is Thompson might be a grade risk and that would have something to do with pulling his offer. OU and Oregon state couldn’t be any more different so I think he may be holding his place right now.

          • hOUligan says:

The Beavs are playing something to their advantage. Just got a commit from Christan Wallace, Sealy, Tx, 4* who had an OU offer. Oregon just allowed open sale of marijuana July 1….just sayin’…

          • Zack says:

I do like the Wallace kid. I was hoping we would be going hard after him when he de-committed from tcu.

I know you’re joking but we will never decriminalize Mary Jane.

  • ouwooferman says:

It is 12:40 pm and bevo still squats to pee.

  • Matt says:

you boys realize if the good guys can turn turnovers into a trend this defense could turn into a HUGE strength?? I feel like most of us, myself including, are gauging how we feel about the team based on how the defense played over the first 3 games (which makes sense) and so we see a good season with potential to be great but if the defense can turn into a turnover forcing machine..victory against Baylor on the road becomes a realistic possibility and the National Championship is very much there for them. I get more and more pumped for this team with each week!

    • Jofield says:

Man I want to agree with you (and to some extent I do). But turnovers can be such a fickle thing. Sometimes you do all the right things and they just don’t happen (Tenn game) and sometimes it happens (WV). Its such a hard thing to depend on.

      • Matt says:

yeah I’m not saying they’d have to depend on turnovers except maybe against Baylor because I still think this defense is really solid without turnovers

        • Zack says:

I hope they can force somewhere close to 40 turnovers because I think that’s what it will take in the big 12 to win and/or run the table.
Now I would prefer the defense be exceptional at forcing 3rd and long (8 or more yards) that is more important to being a great defense than just forcing turnovers.

          • thebigdroot says:

3rd and long and actually stopping them from getting a first down.

          • Zack says:

Well exactly but it’s easier than when we give Baylor 2nd and 2. I don’t even think Baylor has had more than 10 3rd down plays each of the last 2 years against us.

          • Matt says:

do you think anyone in the big 12 could beat OU other than Baylor? I mean as long as OU doesn’t just show up flat in a game..

          • Zack says:

I think Baylor is the only team better than OU. I do think tcu can beat OU even if OU has a great game but right now it’s between Baylor and OU IMO.

          • Matt says:

agreed. I stated above that in this crazy year and with the Big 12 looking so solid so far, they could lose to Baylor and possibly still go to the playoff with Baylor. Most of the advanced analytic stats have OU as a top 5 team right now. Football Outsiders has OU #2…but they also have Baylor as #39 which is way, way off. That offense is insane.

          • Zack says:

I honestly don’t think the big 12 is very good outside of OU and Baylor. And I do think the jury is still out on OU, the potential is huge but we’ve been disappointed for the last 7 seasons. Tcu and osu are overrated IMO but can make things interesting. I don’t see ksu, wvu or tech surprising any of the top 3 teams.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

KSU might stick with us. It is their homecoming game, and it is a Snyder coached team. They will be decent on defense, but their offense is just not very good right now. If the Sooners continue to get better, it should not be much of a contest.

          • Matt says:

I don’t mean this snarkily but I don’t think homecoming matters much to college teams. It never mattered to us as a fanbase when I was in school, most of time we didn’t even know what game homecoming was. That being said, I agree that they are one of the teams that stick out to me before Baylor.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

No, it means little to the football team. But to the those drinking before the game and in the stands, they are usually a little bit rowdier and KSU is already rowdy because they have nothing else to do in Manhattan.

          • DrewChubbs says:

I don’t know how Manhattan is now days, but about 20 years ago or so, when I was in school, there was a little hole-in-the-wall called Dr. Loves. It’s kinda like KSU’s very own Sugers, except the talent was older. It was like an old converted barn and the “stage” was a piece of plywood elevated about 2 inches off the ground. Patrons were seated comfortably at picnic tables. My point is (at least back then) there was something to do in Manhattan! Those trips up there were pretty fun!

          • Bill Holder says:

Went into Manhattan once while stationed at Ft Riley mannnnnny years ago ( 48 yrs ). Forced our way into 1 club because they wouldn’t allow a black brother in that was with us. Lol

          • Golfluvr13 says:

LOL! Aggieville has flooded out twice since then. (I have tons of KSU grad friends). And several of the old “fun” places to visit burned to the ground. I’m sure they have new things to do there, but it is so far from anywhere that it is still boring to me.

          • Matt says:

I’m picking WVU to beat TCU…haha

          • Bill Holder says:

I think there are possibly 4 teams that COULD beat us.

          • Matt says:

yeah I think there are teams that could beat OU if they show up flat one game but I don’t think anybody other than Baylor could beat them unless they just show up and play like some of the teams of the past have been prone to do for one or two games a year (2007, 2011)

          • Bill Holder says:

That’s what I’m thinking. Seems every year we have 1 or 2 games where we don’t seem interested.

          • Birddawg says:

            which four?

          • Jofield says:

            One of them is us.

          • Bill Holder says:

Since you put me on the spot….Tech,Baylor, TCU, OSU. Lol

          • Birddawg says:

As it looks right now I don’t think any team in the b12 can beat Baylor.
OU is the only chance of an actual competition.
We really need a lot of improvement until Nov to bring them down.
            1) Run game
            2) Safety Play
            3) Dline needs to take the next step into dominance.
Baylor has massive players at Oline, FB, TE, and HB

          • Jofield says:

I honestly think TCU is not much better than a toss up game.

          • soonerinks says:

I get very, very nervous when we have anyone in 3rd and long. Always seems like the other team has us right where they want us. Guess I have too many flashbacks from the last 3 years.

        • Bill Holder says:

I say go in there and stomp them without turnovers.

    • Daryl says:

I am proud of this team so far and excited about this team. BUT this is not a great team. The OL is still not gelling and honestly I don’t think they will be great this year. IMO I think next year could a season of greatness. Yes you lose Striker, Tapper, Shepherd, Neal, Darlington, and Nila. But I think the line will be more experienced and better next year. Westbrook, Baxter, Quick, Andrews, Perine, Mayfield and Mixon are back. You lose Tapper and Striker but you have Deberry, Bolton, Evans, Ward, Obo waiting and I think Sanchez comes back too. It could be a great year next year!

      • Matt says:

I agree with your concerns on the O-Line but who’s going to beat this team other than Baylor? The Sooners just torched the best defense in the big 12.

        • Matt says:

and with the way this year is going, I think there’s a possibility they lose to Baylor and Baylor and OU both go to the playoff. I understand that’s a long, long way away I’m just saying I see it as a possibility.

        • Daryl says:

I never thought we were playing the best defense in the Big 12 in wvu. Statistics said they were but they had played NO ONE. When you play JV teams and then crown a yourself as the best defense because of stats I think that is off. I honestly would say that okie state is the best to this point, with wvu, baylor and tcu all in same area.

Now to talk about a great season to me would mean getting in the playoff and showing well in the playoff. I don’t see this team showing well in a playoff game and honestly I am not sure that other than Baylor the Big 12 will get a team in the playoff because I don’t think we will have an undefeated champ.

        • Oscar says:

Give Baker Mayfield some time and he will pick a defense apart.

When you have a player tweeting about transferring at halftime, you have problems that won’t be fixed soon. On paper, Texas has no chance. In reality, this is the only thing they have left going for them this season besides an impending win against Kansas. You can bet they will show up for this rivalry. Spirit can only get you so far. Oklahoma will pull away at some point.

    • Recondo says:

I kind of think this will start slow and get ugly by the end of the first half.

      • guest says:

UT may stay in the game just because they hit real hard and they were embarrassed last week. Maybe they will cause fumbles or interceptions or off-sides penalties and frustrate OU. I’m just sayin’ even though OU could beat them 100-0, it is also conceivable that OU could be upset. There is no good and healthy reason why OU should take UT lightly. OU should just focus on executing the details of their reads/blocks/pass routes/techniques.

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

This would really be upsetting to us fans. TExass is down and we need to play like their undefeated.

  • kt-raida says:

In reference to Delance: He created a stir when he made that attention grabbing decommit. I dont bash kids for decommiting but to do it , because of the fraternity situation ( that’s at every major college) was bogus.

  • SoonerfanTU says:

No gold this year for the OU/ut game, correct? Think that ended last year.

  • BigJoeBrown says:

This is the kinda game I just imagine Texas texts it’s visiting recruits at the last minute…”don’t come.”

    • EasTex says:

I have a fond memory of one Adrian Peterson as a Texsa official visitor 12 years ago this weekend. He witnessed the OU 65-13 massacre live and in person. LOL!

Dang! I wish I would have taken that job in Tulsa. I was all set to move there, but I got another opportunity and took it instead.

      • Gladdman says:

Where are you? There are a whole bunch of OU Clubs.

        • Golfluvr13 says:

SW Kansas. Tons of Sooner fans, but I do not think there any clubs around here. I have a lot of friends that are Sooners fans and we watch games together.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

Texsa is setting us up. We’d better be ready to play.

      • Chad says:

absolutely… This games scares me more and more everyday leading up to it.

      • soonerinks says:

The boys better be ready to play. Anytime a team is disrespected as much as Texas has been so far this week, I would bet that the UT players are getting pretty sick of hearing it. I have a feeling that they are not going away quietly. I think this one will be a barn burner

        • Walter Sobcek says:

It’s going to be a rumble. Less to do with the better team, and more to do with the team that puts up a bigger fight. Hopefully that will be OU.

        • SamSooner says:

I believe that a couple of quick scores, some sacks and texsa will fold like a cheap tent. If OU let’s them hang around, they might make it interesting. But if OU hits them with a pipe across the noggin, they won’t want anything to do with this game. They’ll be looking at the clock the whole time.

          I’m not worried.

          • soonerinks says:

I would agree with you but the Sooners have not shown yet to be fast starters. If we do start fast, I agree it will be Sooners big. If we don’t start fast and let them hang around, I think it will be a nail biter.

      • Sam Sherwood says:

We are jaded by past disappointments and embarrassments… going all the way back to Boise State. We’ll get to see if the coaching staff shake-up (less Mike Stoops) makes a difference.

  • guest says:

OU has the better team this weekend. But they did in 2013, too, and they got beat real bad!

    • tfb_fortyseven says:

I wouldn’t say “beat real bad”, but I would say, “got shocked”, or similar …. I think what won them that game was our expectations as personified in the immortal and still hilariously funny “Mack Brown Apologizes for 66 – 17 Loss to OU Next Month” article in BC. Not that the article won it, but it was the arrogance we carried into that game that lost it and that article personified our expectations … we expected them to lay down and lose. We had already written our biggest rivalry off as a default win. Rivalries should NEVER be written off before the game is played. Those losses to Les Miles’s OSU teams in 2001 and 2002 are also prime examples of what I’m talking about.

    • Sooner 76 says:

      Three things happened in 2013.

1 – OU took texas lightly. That’s on the players.

2 – Corey Nelson and Jordan Phillips were injured, resulting in two true freshman at WILL and NT. Texas took advantage and ran the ball up the middle all day long.

3 – Blake Bell had a very poor game. His QB rating was 6, that’s 6. He had a single digit rating against Baylor as well. And no, you can’t blame that on the play calling.

  • Lewis Hendrick says:

Don’t want Delance. Dudes a baby.

    • rainydaze114 says:

At least dude’s not a lady.

    • Rick says:

Dudes a very talented young man, hard working, and very young. I would like a 2nd chance for some of my 17 and 18 year old decisions. I hope he commits, and kicks some Texsa Butt in the future.

  • Sooner4life says:

I understand the nervousness with this game and rightfully so with recent history but it feels like majority are more tense that this will be a close game. The two main differences with the recent history is one we have a QB and two Heupel is not calling the plays. If one of those was still a factor I would feel a little uneasy but I am definitely on the other side and think we will cruise with a win.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

I think they show up with the attitude of kicking @$$ and chewing gum, and they’ll be all outta gum.

  • SamSooner says:

I watched some of the texsa/TCU game, just to see what I could see. Well, not surprising, texsa didn’t show anything. Their OL and DL didn’t get any push. I think there’s an issue with their DBs that they are trying to mask.

Surprisingly, TCU’s DL didn’t show me anything either. I don’t think OU is going to have problem with them. Unfortunately, texsa’s DL didn’t test TCU’s OL so I don’t know what to make of that. But, I’ve got to believe we will get more pressure than texsa did.

  • guest says:

“In the fortunate event of being ahead by, say 3 TDs, it may be much wiser for the team to start playing fresh people who need the exposure and experience, rather than trying to score 50 points with players who have already achieved their stud-status.”

    • rainydaze114 says:

      -said no one ever.

Just kidding. I don’t usually care much for style points, but this is Texsa. Demoralize them.

It’s actually a quote from Conan The Barbarian:

Mongol General: Hao! Dai ye! We won again! This is good, but what is best in life?

Mongol: The open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair.

Mongol General: Wrong! Conan! What is best in life?

Conan: Crush your enemies. See them driven before you. Hear the lamentations of their women.

Mongol General: That is good! That is good.

I would hate for an injury to occur in the second half, with OU ahead by three/four touchdowns.

        • SamSooner says:

I’m being obnoxious. I agree with you. But I wouldn’t want the play calling to change because the personnel changed.

          • guest says:

There is a certain “catch 22” in this situation.

          • guest says:

That’s a good point. Use fresh personnel so they can get experience and be graded on the same plays – by not altering the play calling

        • rainydaze114 says:

Injuries suck no matter the circumstance.

          • guest says:

It’s true. But my point is that if you are ahead by a field goal, you have to continue the fight, but if you’re comfortably ahead by 3 or 4 scores, why risk injury to key positions just to run up the score. The season is barely getting to the midway point. Whey get into the playoffs with players in key positions missing due to injuries. [Reminiscent of OU/Florida Orange Bowl without DeMarco Murray]

    • Walter Sobcek says:

I fondly recall the days of Barry’s ‘Bone, when the starters were pulled before the end of the first half – and then the second and third teamers would go out and keep scoring as well.

    • Perry Dickey says:

I’m thinking you do whatever would impress a committee.

  • Troyce Lewis says:

I thought we were done recruiting at S for this class? If so why still recruit Burton but turn down Thompson? Can someone help explain

    • Sooner Ray says:

Sometimes the recruiting of a kid is shut down for reasons that don’t need to be public, it’s not always about numbers and position.

    • Rick says:

I’ll attempt a guess, we have 8 safties on roster. 3 frosh, 3 soph, 2 jr., no sr. We only have possibly 20 schollys this year, we have filled 11. I think they are head counting, and trying to extend the offers where “most” needed. We won’t be loosing any safeties so maybe other positions are going to attrition and needed more elsewhere. I am supposing of course, someone else may have a better idea.

      • Sooner 76 says:

We only have 6 safeties and none are seniors. We have 8 corners and none are seniors.

We have 1 verbal from a safety and 3 verbals from CBs.

        • Rick says:

The online roster shows 8, (and no srs as I said), but if you are the same Sooner 76 from LT, I’m sure you know better than the online roster, the coaches, and anyone else that has anything to say. You can argue with the roster if you want, it has 8 listed.

          • Lane Gilstrap says:

There maybe 8 on the roster but there are only 6 on scholarship.

          • Rick says:

I’m well aware of how many are on scholarship. My statement was roster. BTW at least one of the walkon safeties “very well may” earn a scholarship. He was awarded scout team defensiveplayer of the year. I know thats no guarantee but, we have always rewarded outstanding effort on the scout team.

          • Rick says:

Just a thought Lane, but if we counted just the scholarship players at the 1st of the year, we would be without our starting QB and a WR, as 1 of the safeties (on roster not scholarship, same as our starting QB and WR) was awarded the defensive player of the year on the scout team, Stoops is very high on him, You might guess he will earn a scholly. Many of our greats of the past were walkons, so I do think Stoops counts the walkons just as the scholorship players, at least the ones that can compete at D1 level.

    • Zack says:

I think it’s something we will find out closer to nsd. To me it’s odd how we dropped his offer, and then of all places he chooses Oregon state…I would guess grades but could be wrong. It’s not often Oregon state gets top 100 talent is it?

      • Troyce Lewis says:

Very odd! What makes it so crazy is that it appears that Shurod, Jordan, Caleb, and Brandon are close (tweets) so why not continue stacking talent, meanwhile further utilizing the Cali Pipeline?

  • Jason Vos says:

Only way I’d be scared of this game is if Trevor Knight was the starting QB

    • guest says:

He would win by 4 touchdowns in this offense and UT’s defense. He would have three running TDs.

    • Daryl says:

While I agree we playing much better we all know that records and last week mean nothing in this game. There are countless times where the favorite even double digit favorites come in and get it handed to them because this game brings the best or worst out of you. Which ever team comes in with a true focused edge will win. We won last year but it is a great example of how we were much better than Texas and yet they got a few breaks and next thing you know it was ball game to the end.

I hope players are not reading fan comments or media comments and they just watching film and doing tackling drills. It’s RRSO week….you don’t want to do the walk of shame.

    • SamSooner says:

Why is it okay for Bama to steam roll the Citadel and have be an example of how good they are but OU can’t do this.

I want this team to not give a flip about what anyone says about them, good or bad. I want them to go play football and score all the points they can, look into the camera and give everyone the finger that says we’re number one.

    • STL Sooner says:

      Finebaum = A$$wipe

    • Perry Dickey says:

I don’t believe even in the SEC, there are a host of people who think Paul Stinkbomb is a judge of class.

He just can’t let his Bob Stoops obsession go even though he’s been owned by Bob at every turn.

    • Sooner 76 says:

Taking a knee for an entire quarter totally embarrasses the opposition. The only time I have ever seen Bob run up the score was against OSU in 2004 after Lester the Sheep Molestor ran his mouth the entire week.

    • Fear The Magic says:

Someone remind me…..What exactly does Paul Finebaum know about class?

    • Mike Reed says:

Total nonsense. Yes, every decent person was repulsed by what happened at SAE. The team and university took appropriate action. Good for them.

However, DeLance had ALREADY decide to decommit b/c he got an offer from Alabama. So instead of being honest, he chose to take a cheap shot.

He certainly has the right to decommit, but I don’t care for liars.

        • Fear The Magic says:

          THIS ^^^
He already indicated that he was backing out prior to the SAE mess.

          • kt-raida says:

No he didn’t in fact he went out of his way to say that he was very committed to Oklahoma. I believe K even asked the kid himself and confirmed that he was solid

          • Sooner 76 says:

So? No young man has EVER decommitted after saying he was solid? There had been rumors for a while that he had been weakening.

I don’t blame him for wanting to re-open his recruiting. That’s his right. He has the right to change his mind.

Just say you committed too early and want to re-open. Very easy.

If he was THAT sincere about what happened at SAE, why is he still talking with the OU coaches?

If you are going to stand on principle, then stand tall.

          • kt-raida says:

Well maybe he liked the way the coaches handled thw situation? maybe he liked the response the good people at OU and the community showed . the fraternity is banned so if that was his gripe they more than handled it.And good debate by the way, i like that some people can have cordial disagreements on the Internet.

          • BoomerDave says:

i can’t imagine why any fan is getting all bent out of shape over Delance, let alone calling him a liar. If our coaches still want him, that’s good enough for me. Kids change their minds all the time. Reminds me of how many on here said good riddance to Lampkin, but months later were applauding his return.

          • Sooner 76 says:

Kids DO change their minds all the time. That’s no big deal. What the parties owe each other in the recruiting is honesty game. Nothing more, nothing less.

          • Fear The Magic says:

I remember differently but theres no way Im going to search for the quote that I read that implied it.
If I happen to be wrong then my bad.

          • lovethemsooners says:

I think you need to go back and check the time line. I’ll bet someone on staff here would even confirm it. He was already out the door before the SAE incident happened. He just used that event for his own personal gain as an opportunity to get his name in the paper. Hate to say it like that, but it’s the truth.

          • kt-raida says:

don’t need to but thanks anyway.

        • kt-raida says:

You got insde info? Your speculating. and what about the other comment?

          • connie usa says:

Racist fraternity? Was every member a racist? DOPE

          • kt-raida says:

1st off you want to defrnd them so bad that you are finding the smallest victories in an argument. and i will sarcastically say ” yes EVERY member was a racist.” And if you cant have a conversation without name calling then you dont have anything else to say to me. Im an adult having an adult conversation with Sooner76. maybe you should stay out of it. Oh and here’s another win for you, I spelled defend wrong.

          • Sooner 76 says:

            What other comment?

Do you think there are no racists at Alabama or Texas? It wasn’t Oklahoma that had it written in their state constitution that African Americans could not attend their flag-ship university.

        • BoomerDave says:

You don’t know this! Nobody but Delance knows why he chose to decommit. Calling a current OU recruit a liar is messed up and pathetic!

          • Rick says:

“IF” he is the same Sooner76 as at LT, this is just what he does. He enjoys getting it stirred up, the LT Sooner76 is a hater, a trouble maker and just not worth the effort to argue with, because he knows…. If it is the same one, no response is the best response, or you will be upset all the time. Posters like this are the ones that run off recruits, stirs up strife and laughs at the contention. Don’t waste your breath Dave, again if it is the same guy, he will surely keep it up or get the permanent ban hammer.

          • Sooner 76 says:

I take GREAT exception to that slander. I have never been a trouble maker or a hater on any board.

On LT, I have called out haters, but I’ve never been a hater.

I have NEVER been banned from a board or even received a warning.

          • Sooner 76 says:

He decommitted right after the Bama offer. Pretty obvious.

  • EasTex says:

This week is going to be a tough on me. My old high school team is undefeated going against our hated rival for the 105th official meeting, though the rivalry actually began around 1890. Most of us would go without steak for a week if we could beat those punks. We haven’t beaten them in fourteen years and doesn’t appear we will this year, either, but being such a grudge game anything can happen. We went to their house and beat them in double OT when they were the #1 team in the state.
Then I have to some how gather myself together for the RRS the next morning and pull for the Sooners.
    I love/hate this time of year. 🙂

    • Sooner Ray says:

At least you can see it live. I have meetings this week and won’t be home till after noon on Sat. Thank God for the DVR.

      • EasTex says:

        The dvr was Heaven sent.
I have to listen to my high school game on the innernut. Our only hope is to some how outscore them, our defense isn’t strong enough to stand up to their 6’6″ 385lb RT or their 320lb center or their 300+ LT. If they get a lead they will grind our defense with clock eating drives.

        • Sooner Ray says:

Hopefully you can outscore them, I think that’s how they determine the winner now days. 🙂

          • EasTex says:

Gonna be a tough one. Our offense averages around 53 points a game, but they weren’t against the #9 5A team in Texas like this one.

    • SamSooner says:

The law of average says your high school team will win this week.

      Don’t worry about Saturday’s game.

      • EasTex says:

Not worried about Saturday, just excited.
Friday night, if my boys can win this one they will be a force going into the playoffs.

        • SamSooner says:

You’ve got one more fan rooting for Marshall.

          • EasTex says:

            Thanks, man.
This rivalry was rated the #1 rivalry in all of Texas high school football a few years ago by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine. For many years/decades fans would caravan between the two towns 22 miles apart with police escorts. Team and band buses would have police escorts. Vandalism occurred at each school during the week and fights in the stands, under the stands and in the parking lot were common.
We just don’t like each other.

    • tfb_fortyseven says:

Dude, just dude, I would love to be in your shoes!! Immersed in football …

  • Fear The Magic says:

For those that are concerned that the players might be taking Texas lightly you should go watch the Monday players inteview. All of them ( Sanchez, Evans, Darlington and Mayfield ) pretty much said the same thing. Paraphrasing ” We’re looking at UT like theyre 5-0 this week”

    • EasTex says:

Coach Stoops even mentioned in his show Sunday night that Ty came to his office on Sunday to talk and brought up the 2013 game and how that was still on many players minds.

    • RBear says:

texsa opponents this year are a combined 21-4.

    • Golfluvr13 says:

From everything I have read or interviews I have watched I believe the Sooner coaches and players are very focused on the task at hand this week. I do not expect a 2013 showing. I fully expect OU to come to play like they were playing as an underdog.

  • RBear says:

For any of you out there who have been fortunate enough to attend a RR Shootout in the past and wound up sitting among the enemy, did you wear your colors and were you hassled in the least? A frined of mine scored a couple of season tix from a guy that works for him but they’re on the texsa side.

Going to go and enjoy the atmosphere, just wondered about what we can expect.

    • Sooner Ray says:

I expect you to be sitting alone. 🙂

    • Perry Dickey says:

I’m in the same boat. Friend of mine working in a dealership has tickets and we’re going. He said, we’ll be surrounded by burnt orange. I said, BOOMER SOONER!

    • BoomerDave says:

I’ve done it several times and hell yes you wear your colors!! Stand up and cheer proudly like you would if you were sitting on the OU side. They will treat you according to how you act. Be obnoxious and expect to be harassed. Simply cheer for your team, you will be OK. It’s actually fun sitting among them when we are kicking their butts.

    • Dick Bump says:

I’ve had that experience. They were pretty quiet until Gaddis blew out his knee. OU was running them off the field up until that point. They were more into after that. I think we lost that one. The ones around us were decent folks. The a**holes were lining the way out. I doubt you’ll have any issues.

    • Rick says:

I only went once, with my grandad, probably in the range of 63-66. I remember we went to the mens room and it was very nasty, horrible smells and the long troughs for P. After doing our business, grandad grabbed my hand and headed for the door. A big, fat Texsan with a huge hat and a cigar exclaimed something to the affect that in the great state of Texas we teach our young men to wash their hands after peeing. My grandad returned with, in the great state of Oklahoma we teach our young men not to piss on their hands.

    • Chad says:

My very pregnant and obviously pregnant wife and I went. Texas was winning and no chance OU was coming back to win. My wife tugged at me and said it was time to go. Only a couple minutes left so I agreed. Turns out a female Texas fan told her that she needed to get the F-out now!!!!! Wow I hate Them!!!! Hang a hundred on them this week boys!!!!! BOOMER!

    • Sooner 76 says:

Been 6 times and never sat in the whorn section. But it was great to go, win or lose.

    • Hotrod33 says:

If it is a blowout before halftime then their half we be almost empty and by the third very close to nothing. I hope we can do that this year.

    • tfb_fortyseven says:

I’ve mostly sat on the press box side, and it seems that side is mixed between the 40’s. The encounters I have had with UT fans in that area has been fun …. give and take … dish it out and take it too. Too bad they don’t serve beer in the stadium!!! Hahaha …..

    • Tex'ish says:

Went in 2012 – sat in middle of orangees… Had a great time. All were civil / playful jeering… OU won handily so we ended up having plenty of elbow room by the 3rd qtr… Yes indeed – wear OUr colors proud! Boomer!

    • EasTex says:

The Corny Dogs are best in the morning before the deep fryer’s oil gets all burnt and stanky and the mustard pumps get all crusty. 🙂

  • Jesse says:

I have a recruiting question. How much does a recruit look at how good or bad a team is from the year before? Say like Texas and being 1-4 at the moment. Does that make a recruit maybe second guess?

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Everyone is different but I’d think most would pay attention to a program that appears to be regressing.

    • Sooner Ray says:

Too many variables to solve the equation. Some want the top program, some want the chance to play early, it could be grandma’s favorite team or a cool uniform. Girlfriends come into the picture as well as family and friends, relationship with coaches/ recruiters, any number of things. Ask an 18 yr. old what his favorite song is and it was likely different yesterday, bottom line is it’s all in the individual.

      • soonermusic says:

distance from home is often crucial, too. and if they think that their presence will turn the program around or gain them national attention or, or, or….

    • BleedCrimson says:

Striker fell in love with the Sooner Schooner. Told his high school coach he was going to Oklahoma because he loved that schooner. 🙂
Just never know what is going to be deemed important by an 17/18 year old kid.

  • Jpsooner23 says:

I know this horse keeps on getting beaten but until Jordan and many fans stop the bashing I feel I have to talk about Sanchez a bit more. So in the post game post by Jordan it’s implied that the hero (J. Thomas) basically outplayed and overshadowed the underachieving Sanchez. I just watched the entire WV game again and here’s what I saw (may be some inaccuracies, but generally correct).

Sanchez had 4 completions on him by my count. One he tripped, another that Deion sanders couldn’t stop (fade for TD). Interestingly the 3rd down conversion that allowed for the fade TD was given up by Thomas. Thomas also gave up a 3rd and 20 and was beat on a go route that was way under thrown.

He also ran step for step and defended multiple deep balls against what holgersen called his fastest player.

Also lots on commentary about his tackling from posters in this game. Don’t see even one instance where that caused any issue. He even jumped a WR screen for no gain.

So why? Why is Sanchez the scapegoat for our mod and a large part of our fan base? I love Thomas and every single other player on this team, so not by any means picking on them. Just struggling with all this negativity on Sanchez.

BTW, he also had a sack.

    Ok, rant over.

    • Sooner 76 says:

Good points. I think Zack is an excellent corner. Our problem last year was the other corner. JW wasn’t as effective at CB as he was at nickel and Jordan was a true freshman. Jordan has really improved this year.

Although I think Zack is excellent, I don’t see him as an early entrant into the League. Hopefully, he’s back for his senior year.

    • EasTex says:

You will hear no complaints from me on our current CBs and just shake my head when I hear some of the things people do say. I can only surmise that these critics have attained the ideal status of perfection in their own endeavors.

    • Zack says:

I think the issue with my boy Sanchez is that he talks a lot and carries himself as a great corner. I don’t have issues with that but there are people who say he needs to back it up. I think fans also are fans and just overreact when reality is that every corner gets burned.
I bet wvu fans are saying the corner that bit on shep’s double move is trash but the reality is shep made one hell of a play.

    • soonermusic says:

the trip was an unusual incident…his heel bumped the receivers heel…(just in case some folks think he just spontaneously fell down…)

    • Golfluvr13 says:

Bravo! If you read my post about him when someone said something about him, I said he will make some mistakes, he’s human. But he makes far more plays than he makes mistakes. I have not complained about him and will not complain about any of our DB’s. I think they are all doing just fine!

  • EasTex says:

    ASTROS WIN!!!

    • RBear says:

More importantly, in my book, Yankees lose.

      • EasTex says:

        That earns my consolation prize.
I would love to see the Astros beat the stRangers in the playoffs.

        • RBear says:

This is where we differ- long-suffering Rangers fan here. Born and raised in the Tulsa (Drillers) area which was a farm team for the Rangers for years- saw a lot of great future Rangers come through here.

          • EasTex says:

For me they are strangers, Houston is the only original Texas MLB franchise.
The reason I call them strangers is this, when I was a kid playing little league, Babe Ruth league and American Legion ball, the Washington Senators were the laughing stock of the entire sports world. They epitomized bumbling, bungling, buffoonery. When I heard that the Senators had been sold and were moving to Arlington I was embarrassed and still am.

          • Boomer4life says:

I never knew that..thanks for the history lesson et!

          • EasTex says:

If they would have had a Santeria type ritual when they opened their new ball park, cut the head off of a chicken, poured blood on the old charter and burned it on the pitchers mound, then issued a new charter I would probably feel differently. 🙂

          • RBear says:

You sound way too familiar with that.

          • EasTex says:

I went to a lot of cock fights in the Philippines. 🙂

          • Boomer4life says:

            Lmao!

          • RBear says:

Yeah, I can understand that. A bit of trivia for you concerning those Washington Senators; Once upon a time, Fidel Castro got a try out at Pitcher.

          • EasTex says:

            Hunh.

          • RBear says:

OK, just debunked my own post- GTS and found that this is only a long-standing myth. He did play baseball but never advanced to that level…

          • EasTex says:

He probably was a discipline problem for the coaches. :-0

          • Recondo says:

You, sir, get an up vote for using the word buffoonery.

    • Golfluvr13 says:

I’ll have to root against you in the ALDS. My wife worked for Ewing Kauffman for a decade before he retired. Super nice man. GO ROYALS!

  • rphokc says:

congrats to the colt 45’s, uh astros, for making the playoffs……….very dull game, however, hope they get better

    • EasTex says:

The ‘Stros pitching was fantastic. I’ll take a dull win over an exciting loss any day.

      • rphokc says:

I suspect you did enjoy watching a-rod stand there looking……..whatta trip that guy has been over his career

        • EasTex says:

There were a whole bunch of hitless yankees tonight.

          • rphokc says:

well, good luck with your astros…………. dodger blue for many yrs til I quit following……….just hoping for some exciting games…….

    • John Garner says:

They beat the Yankees. Ew-ah! How much better does it need to be?

  • The last person we need to be recruiting is Delance. He has made is decision and to me, he appears to be nothing but trouble. Let him go and find someone who REALLY wants to be a Sooner.

    • Daryl says:

He made his decision in the midst of a incredibly terrible situation. I cannot imagine what it was like to be young black man considering moving to a place that has bus full of students I would be in class with chanting that song. Not to mention you know that every other recruiter in the nation used that event to spin his head against OU. Then you add what that their are rumors that it is his parents that are most uncomfortable with him attending here. All of that makes sense why he would want to look else where. BUT BB is keeping the relationship there and still working to mend the bridge.

IMO none of that means this is a bad kid or that he “made his choice” and doesn’t want to be Sooner it was a just a really bad circumstance.

  • SoonerBredCD says:

Jean Delance…. Do. Not. Want. His excuse for de-committing was such BS and so ridiculously transparent. Go to Texas where you belong.
