Big Time Visitors: #Sooners staff has never stopped looking to fill voids in the secondary. Kipp Adams of 247sports reported yesterday that Deangelo Gibbs will take an official visit to OU for the Bedlam game.

TFB was told that not only will Gibbs be visiting Oklahoma, but current South Carolina defensive back commit, Jamyest Williams will be taking an official with him, as well. TFB was able to confirm with, both, Williams and Gibbs that they did schedule their official for Bedlam game on December 3rd. TFB was also told that the visit might have to be rescheduled due to  Grayson’s playoff run, but as of right now they are set to be in Norman for Oklahoma State game.

Gibbs has family in Dallas and has already visited Oklahoma twice previously. Williams father is from OKC metro area and has visited OU on several occasions. Neither is new to OU and both have shown high interest in Oklahoma earlier in the recruiting process. – (Brandon)

TJ Pledger: Over the weekend I tweeted 2018 West Hills, California (Chaminade HS) running back TJ Pledger is taking an unofficial visit to Oklahoma for the Bedlam game on December 3rd.

TFB caught up with Pledger last night and spoke to him about the upcoming visit. Pledger stated that he has gotten very close to the Sooners coaching staff, specifically, running back coach, Jay Boulware. That played a big part in Pledger setting up the visit. Pledger also added, “Oklahoma is RBU so I knew I would want to visit as soon as possible.”

Pledger is smaller in stature, but is an all purpose type of running back like current Sooners star running back Joe Mixon. Pledger made it known that he follows Mixon and it’s not lost on him that he is from California, as well. – (Brandon)

Gavin Holmes: The Sooners have been in search for a slot guy ever since Jalen Reagor announced his de-commitment from Oklahoma and then committed to TCU. Oklahoma has begun to push hard and has found guys like JUCO Marquise Brown and now 2017 Ft. Worth, Texas wide receiver Gavin Holmes. Holmes announced, earlier today, that he was de-committing from the University of Iowa.

TFB caught up with Holmes right after his announcement and Holmes told us that he already took an unofficial to Oklahoma for the Baylor game. That visit wasn’t well documented because he was still committed to Iowa at the time. Holmes also stated that he will be back up to OU for the Bedlam game on December 3rd.

That is something to keep an eye on as Holmes and the Sooners staff have begun to talk about a possible offer soon after that visit. TFB asked Holmes if he’d commit to OU once an offer is made and he said, “I would definitely consider OU hard, but I’m just going to have to cross that bridge when the time comes.”  Pretty heady comment from a senior in high school. Holmes says that Penn State, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Washington State have shown increased interest in him since the middle of his senior year. Holmes says he has no other visits planned at this time.

My Take: TFB has heard some rumblings that Holmes name has come up around the program, as of late. Even if star JUCO wide receiver Marquise Brown was to commit to OU (staff feels really good about their chances) there is a chance that OU could take Holmes, as well. Holmes senior film shows a guy that has improved leaps and bounds from junior year. That improvement has lead to him becoming a hot name in the latter part of the 2017 recruiting process. – (Brandon)

Cameron Rising: Rising started off his 2018 junior year with some ridiculous statistical games. Unfortunately, Rising only played 16.5 quarters the whole year due to injuries. Spoke to Rising dad, Nicko, and he said that Rising is looking to visit OU for the Oklahoma State game on December 3rd. That is a good thing for Oklahoma, not only because it gets their 2018 QB commit on campus, but they get him on campus when one of his good friends, star 2018 California running back TJ Pledger will be visiting, as well.

Rising’s father told TFB that Pledger and him played against each other and with each other during their little league days. Pledger and Rising also keep in constant contact with each other.

Rising’s shoulder is healing up and he is up to 6’3 206lbs, preparing for senior year. Rising will be an early enrollee. – (Brandon)
