Marcus Dumervil | Sourced Update
– Super K

Spoke with a source close to Sooners offensive line target, Marcus Dumervil (St. Thomas Aquinas). Was told the following…

***Currently, teams to beat – as in leaders – are Alabama, Oklahoma and LSU. Am told Auburn is pushing hard but it doesn’t sound like there is enough stability there.

***Told that the Sooners were out at Saint Thomas Aquinas on the very first day of spring ball. In fact one source said they arrived at 5:45 in the morning. That should tell you what kind of priority Dumervil is to OU.

***Lastly, I am told that he is going to take a little time with the decision. Source said that he is unlikely to announce anything before the end of the summer at the earliest. Sooners will obviously try to get him back on campus for a return visit.

Update | Sooners Don’t Make Cut For 2020 RB Kendall Milton
– Charlie S

As Super K mentioned last week, the Sooners were sitting outside of Kendall Milton’s top four.

Recently, he made his Final Four official and OU was not included.

The Sooners impressed Milton very much on his unofficial visit earlier this spring, however, it was not enough to land them a place in his final group.

Oklahoma would like to take at least two running backs this cycle and they have one elite back committed in Jase McClellan.

WIth Chris Tyree making his announcement later this week, and our latest information on him suggests that they are trailing Notre Dame, the Sooners will most likely focus all their efforts on Seth McGowan who officially visited earlier this spring.

Other potential names to keep an eye on are Bijan Robinson (Tucson, AZ) who currently holds an OU offer, and Ty Jordan (Mesquite, TX), and Sevion Morrison (Tulsa, OK) who the Sooners have remained in contact with while not yet offering.

OU could know their fate with McGowan in the relatively near future and they will react accordingly.

In Person | Nate Anderson
– Darius Terrell

Frisco (Reedy) Offensive Lineman Nate Anderson is currently rated as the best Offensive Line prospect in the state of Texas, coming in at #8 overall in my initial Texas Top 25 for 2020 that debuted last week.

Anderson was flying under the radar heading into his Junior year. After making a position switch from Tight End to Offensive Tackle a few weeks prior to the start of the season (due to a late injury to a Senior starter), Anderson watched his stock explode once the calendar changed to 2019. When his highlights became public after a fantastic Junior Season that saw his team make a deep playoff run, he quickly earned offers from programs like USC, Florida St., Arkansas, TCU, Missouri, Houston, and Baylor.

After visiting Norman for an unofficial visit, Anderson took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Head Coach Lincoln Riley and the University of Oklahoma football program on May 6th. I was able to make the hour drive out to Frisco to meet with Nate so that I could get some background on himself, his thoughts on the recruiting process, and how everything went down.

“I visited OU two weekends ago after being invited out by Coach Bedenbaugh. He came to my school a few weeks ago to evaluate me and get some video so that he could show Coach Riley. Once he took some footage of me he got on the phone with Coach Riley and let him know that they had to get me on campus as soon as possible.”

The visit to campus really opened Anderson’s eyes to everything that the Sooners have to offer. Anderson was on campus at the same time that OU was hosting three official visitors (he mentioned hanging out with fellow Oklahoma OL commit Noah Nelson) and was able to get a lot of attention and one-on-one time with members of the staff.

“Campus was amazing. Everybody had been talking about how beautiful it was before we arrived and as soon as I got there I knew.” Anderson said. “I was able to meet the School President, which was really cool. All of the coaches were like family and the facilities are the best ever. They just put out four Offensive Linemen in the draft and have back-to-back Heisman Trophy winners. I wanted to be a part of that.”

How did Coach Riley and co. inform Anderson that he was being offered a full scholarship?

“So, I went to have a sit-down with Coach Riley and we talked for a while. He asked my little brother if they should offer me or not. It was a surreal moment for me. I took a day to reflect on things, kind of come down from the excitement of the visit, and discussed things with my family and coaches before making things official.”

Anderson informed me that he is currently checking in at 6’4.5 and 270lbs after playing his Junior season in the 250lb range. When we discussed what position OU said they envisioned him playing along the line, Anderson’s response surprised me a little bit. But Anderson, who is a Tackle by trade, doesn’t have a positional preference.

“OU has talked to me about playing Center or Guard. I mean, I didn’t want to move to Tackle in High School from Tight End, and that worked out great. It doesn’t matter where I play, I’m going to trust the staff. They think that I can be great at Center or Guard because I’m so smart and because of my feet. I plan on redshirting and developing, so it’s not a big deal at all.”

Anderson informed me that he leans on his Uncle, James Hugo, often for advice and says that Hugo has played a huge role in the process for him. Hugo played Tight End at Arizona before playing one season in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals. Nate’s Grandfather, David Anderson, is in the Core of Cadets Hall of Fame at Texas A&M and Nate says that he grew up with a lot of A&M influence in his life.

“I grew up attending A&M games and I regularly sat next to the School President as a kid when we would go. I grew up an Aggie and I was originally set on A&M early.”

Anderson does not currently hold an offer from the Aggies. Do OU fans have anything to worry about if A&M (or any school) decides to turn up the heat and get more heavily involved?

“Signing Day is a while away. I am listening to other schools, but I am 100% committed and I don’t plan on decommitting.” Anderson stated.

Anderson intends to major in Business at Oklahoma once he arrives on campus in the summer of 2020.

Bryson Washington | Update
– Super K

As you know, elite 2020 TX DB, Bryson Washington (CE King) is down to OU and Texas.

He’s aiming for a July 4th commitment date…though I wouldn’t be surprised to see something happen a bit sooner.

Washington has his OV scheduled to Texas for the June 21st weekend which is supposed to be a big recruiting weekend for the Horns. They’re having their annual pool party.

Right now, my read is Oklahoma is the leader and obviously Texas is hoping to change that on his official visit.

But a bit of good news for Oklahoma, Bryson let me know that he is trying to make it back up to Oklahoma for an unofficial visit to in June. I’ve been told the Sooners are really pushing for that, hoping they can really pull away from the Longhorns and Bryson says it is in the works.
