– Zack McKinney: Over the weekend, I tweeted out the following:

This is good news for Oklahoma. as McKinney was a guy that really shined during his senior year at Weatherford (TX). It’s also another young, high ceiling guy that Oklahoma will have on campus, along with more much-needed depth to the interior of the defensive line. After McKinney and I spoke, I reached out to some sources on the OU side of things. I was informed that they expect him to be in Norman when the team arrives. McKinney, obviously, has some making up to do, but he has been working out; once the rust wears off, the young defensive lineman will have a shot, albeit small, at being the in the rotation this year. This also means that every signee for the 2017 class will officially be on campus and qualified. – (Brandon)

– Trejan Bridges: Back in late June, 2019 Hebron HS (Carrollton, TX) wide receiver Trejan Bridges was supposed do an OU visit after his basketball tournament in Norman had finished. Things came up back home, but Oklahoma is finally getting the twitchy receiver on a visit today.

Bridges holds offers from Oregon, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Baylor, to name a few. Bridges will be one of the top wide receivers in the state of Texas, regardless of class, next season; an offer from OU on his visit is not out of the realm of possibility. TFB plans on catching up with Bridges after his visit to get an update on where things stand. – (Brandon)

– Hunter Spears: The Sooners hosted 2019 Sachse (TX) elite defensive lineman Hunter Spears over the weekend. Spears doesn’t yet hold an OU offer, but as things progress between OU and him, the feeling is that the offer will come soon. TFB caught up with Spears last night, and what he said about the visit will get you Sooners fans pretty excited. Spears told TFB that the visit was “incredible.” Spears added, “I fell in love. OU is definitely in my top 2.” The visit went so well that Spears is likely returning this weekend for the BBQ.

Now, Spears may have had a great visit, but his affinity for Oklahoma isn’t just the campus. Spears also told us that his relationship with defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux is “very strong” and that “we talk every other week”. Spears said that he really liked head coach Lincoln Riley, and that those two really made him feel comfortable. When I asked Spears if he had any other schools he liked, he said, “My top 2 are OU and Stanford.” He added that he is also very high on Notre Dame, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State. Spears hopes to be an orthopedic surgeon when his football days are over, so the medical schools of Stanford and Oklahoma are really intriguing to him.

If Spears makes it to the BBQ this weekend, I would expect OU to join Alabama, Notre Dame, Baylor, Texas Tech, Houston, and several other teams that have offered him. If that offer does come, a commitment isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Spears would be a good get for the 2019 class and a potential foundation builder, as several recruiting sites have him a high 4 star. We will catch up with Spears after the BBQ to see where things stand. – (Brandon)
