Patrick Fields: In case you missed it, last night, 2018 DB, Patrick Fields announced his top three and his commitment date.

Fields offered these brief notes to our Andrew King regarding each of his top three schools:

Texas: Coach Herman’s mentality and vision, plus academically they’re second to none. They have the money to make improvements to facilities whenever and they have a never ending list of connections.

TCU: I really love their coaching staff, just as people. They’re some of the greatest people I’ve ever spoken with.

Oklahoma: I know a lot of guys down there so it’s easy to relate to the players. And it’s close to home.

As I mentioned yesterday, whoever lands Field’s is going to get a recruiter for the 2018 class. He let me know in no uncertain terms that he plans on helping build the class for whichever school he commits to and Fields has the personality and the game to do it. – (Super K & Andrew)

Josh Proctor: Another in-state DB, the Sooners are hoping to land is the big, fluid and athletic, Josh Proctor (Owasso, OK). I haven’t had a chance to catch up with Proctor (hope to do that in the very near future) but in talking to folks familiar with his recruitment I’m told the two teams to beat right now are the Sooners and Ohio State.

One source said that Ohio State is a very real contender here and that Proctor has already visited the Buckeyes. Again, we’ll try to connect with him soon to get his thoughts on both programs and a possible recruitment timeline. – (Super K)

Steve Stephens: I’m not sure any program outside of California recruits the Fresno, CA area better than the Sooners. It seems like every year there is a highly coveted Fresno area target that the Sooners have a legitimate shot at.

This year it is 2018 DB, Steve Stephens. Mike Stoops offered Stephens a while back and his stock continues to soar. Stephens said he does not yet have a date set for a visit to OU but said he will definitely visit the Sooners. I’ll have more with Stephens later. – (Super K)

Rafiti Ghirmai & Curtis Dunlap: Something worth continuing to keep an eye on, recent OU visitor, 2018 OT Rafiti Ghirmai (Frisco, TX) picked up an offer from Alabama today.

Ghirmai is quickly becoming one of the more highly sought after offensive linemen in the country. The Sooners do seem to have the inside track with Ghirmai since, as you know by now, his brother is a student at OU. But an OU offer has not been extended just yet.

I heard from a source a few days ago that no only are the Sooners in a great spot for Darrell Simpson but I’m also told that Curtis Dunlap (IMG Academy) is extremely high on OU. In fact, I heard from two sources that despite not having seen Oklahoma yet, the Sooners are at or near the top for Dunlap. – (Super K)
