Quick-Hitters | Kendall Dennis | Update: Anton Harrison
– Super K
As you know, Kendall Dennis took an official visit to Florida State, this weekend. Going into this weekend, we felt very good about where things are with Dennis.
I’ve checked around and I don’t think there is much to worry about here. I think OU remains in a strong position.
I’ll double check after the visit but as of now it looks like this was just a visit.
*** Update: 6:02 pm
Checked in with 2020 OL commit Anton Harrison following some messages about reports of him being at Maryland this week on an official visit…
Harrison got back to me and said “I’m at home right now and playing some 2K. I will be signing Wednesday”
That should clear that up. – Charlie
Update | 2020 OL Commit Aaryn Parks
– Charlie S
As we reported on Friday, Sooners 2020 offensive line commit Aaryn Parks visited Georgia this weekend:
“As Jwhinery posted in the prior thread Sooners 2020 OL commit appeared to be on a visit to Georgia per his Instagram account.
After checking the account, he does in fact appear to be at Georgia. (videos have since been deleted)
As I reported earlier in the week, Oklahoma did an in home with him today, one would not think they gave a commit the ok to go on down to Georgia on the weekend before signing day.
This may be nothing, but the optics aren’t great, and we will be checking on OU’s take.”
After checking with sources, we updated the thread by saying:
“Update 9:37: Was in touch with a source and it does not sound like OU was aware of this visit, even after doing their in-home today with him.”
On Saturday, I touched base with Parks, while he was still on his visit. I mentioned I would share the quote he gave me this afternoon, following his visit, as a courtesy to him, but I mentioned that I would not worry about him decommitting from Oklahoma in multiple threads yesterday.
When I asked Parks about the visit and it there was any cause for concern in regards to his commitment to OU, he said “I am 161% committed to OU. I just took a free trip to UGA because I had never been there and I didn’t take any other trips. I wanted to see what all the talk was about it being so great”.
The optics of him not giving the OU staff the heads up earlier in the day while they were doing his in home that he was taking the trip are not great obviously, but after speaking with him on and off the record, I chalk it up to a kid who knew he probably shouldn’t be taking the trip without telling OU…but he was a kid who didn’t know how to tell OU he planned on taking the trip…if that makes any sense to you.
Bottom line is…I don’t believe you have anything to worry about as a fan. Of course, things could change but the sense I got after communicating with him is that he will sign with OU on Wednesday morning.
Justin Harrington | Post Okie State OV | Quick-Hitter
– Super K
By now you’re all familiar with 2020 JUCO DB, Justin Harrington. If you need a refresher you can look over our notes (here) posted prior to his OU official visit.
All along Harrington had planned to take an Oklahoma State official on the final weekend (this past weekend) before early signing.
And all along we just assumed it was a formality and he would end up at OU.
That may very well still be the case but I thought it was worth passing along that I exchanged a few texts with him, earlier today.
I asked him point blank which way he is leaning now (OU or Oklahoma State) to which he responded, “It’s up in the air”.
He very well could just be telling me that because he wants to play it close to the vest. That certainly wouldn’t the first time. But for transparency, I felt it was something we should pass along to you all.
With all that said, we still believe he signs with OU on Wednesday.
Jase McClellan & Running Back Recruiting | The Latest
– Super K
***As you already know, Bama has been pushing to flip Jase McClellan. So far the Sooners have remained optimistic that they would be able to hold on to Jase.
***But I’ve heard a few things now that make me believe that an Alabama flip is more and more likely. And, it’s pretty clear OU knows it.
***I have heard that Oklahoma was in touch with multiple running backs, today – to test the waters as a possible replacement for Jase.
***One of the running backs is set to sign this Wednesday. If he holds off then I imagine OU will get a visit.
***The other running back the Sooners are in touch with is not expected to sign until February so I foresee them getting a visit in January.
***This time of the year is filled with twists and turns. It’s not looking great for OU right now but it won’t shock me at all to see this one turn once again in OU’s favor.
***We will continue to keep you updated. Buckle up.
