Sooners Saturday | A Couple Visit Notes
– Charlie S

***First, I checked in with Sooners wide receiver commit Luther Burden who let me know he is planning to be in town on an unofficial for the June 19th event in Norman.

That is good news for OU as Burden plans on visiting on his own dime for the weekend and will still have his official visit to use during the season and I would suspect that gets locked in for the Nebraska game here in the near future.

***Another guy I checked in on (at the request of a few Donors) was 2022 DB Azareyeh Thomas (6’3 176) out of Niceville, FL who recently included OU in his top group.

Thomas said he doesn’t have a visit set up to Norman at this point but he did tell me ‘I’m working on it with Coach Manning and hope to set it (a visit) up soon’.

To be honest, we haven’t heard a ton on Thomas from our OU sources at this point, but we do believe he is a player the Sooners do have as a legit target and I will keep checking in with Thomas to see if/when that visit gets set up.

Latest on Jared Kerr
– Super K

Yesterday, I spoke with 2022 4-star DB, Jared Kerr (Lexington, TX) at the NOLA Pylon event.

He re-confirmed his summer plans are to take official visits to Baylor and Texas A&M.

With regards to Oklahoma, he said that they are asking him to take his official visit during the season. But, Kerr said he is looking at possibly doing an unofficial visit to Oklahoma in the summer.

Kerr also noted that Oklahoma has been in regular touch with him. I asked him if there were any hard feelings after the Sooners sort of dropped off in communication a month or so back. He said, there were no hard feelings at all. He says they’ve come back on so strong in terms of communication that he feels comfortable with where things are.

Harold Perkins | Interesting Change of Plans
– Super K

Not sure what to make of this. I saw five-star linebacker, Harold Perkins, late last week in NOLA at a training facility.

We spoke a bit about his recruitment. Only a few days before that he had told me he was scheduled to be in College Station for the first weekend of June for his first official visit. He also said he would be in Austin to take an unofficial visit to Texas for the big June 18th-20th weekend (which I reported).

He now tells me those plans have changed.

***He said he is canceling his TAMU official and going to USC instead.

***He also said he is canceling his Texas unofficial and taking an unofficial to Oklahoma that weekend, instead. While I did report he was planning on getting up to Norman in the summer, that weekend was not the original plan.

***As I reported on April 6th:

‘It sounds like he will get up to Norman this June on an unofficial visit. He spoke with Lincoln Riley yesterday and they’ve got him scheduled for a return visit as an official for the Nebraska game.’

***Believe the September official is still the plan.

Again, I don’t know what prompted the sudden change and he didn’t really comment much on it.
