Dallas Area Satellite Camp: OU is holding a couple of satellite camps today. One was this morning, the other will be this afternoon. Alex will be at this afternoon’s camp. 2017 WR Charleston Rambo picked up an OU offer at this morning’s camp. There will be many more names but a few guys we have been told will be at the camp are:

AJ Parker (2016 CB, OK)
Isaac Barham (2016 OG, OK)
Camron Williams (2016 WR, TX) – Camron already holds an OU offer.
Arnold Azunna (2016 CB, TX) – We had a chance to see him on Tuesday at the Michigan camp and he was impressive. I didn’t know who he was but he stood out. Had great size and appeared to have good speed. In his 1 on 1s he did a nice job of squeezing receivers (I only saw him defend two 9 routes). I cut on his film when I got home and saw a very violent, quick footed cornerback with great instincts.

DeMarkus Acy (2016 DB, TX) – Holds an OU offer.
Eno Benjamin (2017 RB, TX) – Has not received an OU offer but holds a number of FBS offers.
Shawn Robinson (2017 QB, TX) – Holds an OU offer and an offer from just about everyone else.
Robert Barnes (2017 DB, TX) – Barnes is the son of former Sooner, Reggie Barnes. Robert is a long 2017 safety who already holds a few FBS offers and is looking to pick up an offer from the Sooners.
Jack Anderson (2017 OL, TX) – Holds an OU offer.
Jeffrey Okudah (2017 DB, TX) – Holds an OU offer and every other offer.
Baron Browning (2017 DB, TX) – Holds an OU offer and a lot of other offers.
Steve Youmans (2017 OL, OK)
Anthony Hines (2017 LB, TX) – Holds an OU offer and every other offer.
K.D. Nixon (2017 WR, TX) – Has not received an OU offer but holds a number of FBS offers.

UPDATED (3:35 pm): Alex is out there and tells us that 2016 stud DL Marcel Southall is at the camp. Southall goes to Duncansville where the former Skyline staff coaches. OU has a great relationship with those guys. We saw Southall at the Baylor camp and he is a well put together young man. Very quick. Very developed in terms of his ability to use his hands and keep OL’s hands off him.

UPDATED (7:53 pm): Looks like we picked the right guy to pick for the feature picture of today’s Open Post. 2017 safety Robert Barnes (OU legacy) picked up an Oklahoma offer.

Gotta love a kid named Rambo!

    • Doobie74OU says:

Maybe OU will draw “First Blood” (sorry I couldn’t resist!) Cool name though!

  • Doobie74OU says:

Do we know which OU coaches or staff are working the satellite Camps today!

  • HoustonChiver says:

Is Christian Rambo any relations to current SS for the Bills and former Georgia player Bacarri Rambo?

  • Sooner Ray says:

I’ve totally lost track of how many offers we have out there right now. Seems like a lot.

    • Bob Edwards says:

146 of which 89 are currently uncommitted. To give you an idea Alabama has 215 of which 120 are uncommitted.

      • Stephen Dale says:

SO————-of the 57 offers who have committed, OU has two of them. Is that what you are saying ????

        • Bob Edwards says:

If you must insist on finding something negative in everything that is said, at least get yours number right. We currently have four commits not two. And you could just as easily have pointed out that Alabama has missed out on more offers so far this year than we have. But that wouldn’t allow you to attack OU.

          • Stephen Dale says:

I didn’t include the JC’s…just the HS guys……..not negative as much as making sure I understood what you were saying…..

        • SamSooner says:

          Kick Rocks!

      • John Garner says:

215? Are we being selective or is Bama not? Hard to accuse Nick of that, given the number of 4 and 5 stars he hauls in. I’ll go with our coaches.

        • Bob Edwards says:

Its a different style of recruiting. From what I have heard here in AL, Saban looks for certain things in players and offers the ones who meet his criteria and then takes the first ones who commit. We seem to be looking for the “right” player. Obviously, Saban is having more success on the field, but I don’t know if that is because of the WAY he recruits.

As for stars, there is also the fact that some of those stars are the result of Saban having recruited them. The whole system is kind of circular in that way.

          • kokevo says:

Whatever bama is doing maybe ou should try. They went from being ranked in the mid 20’s to 5 in less than 2 weeks meanwhile ou keeps getting jumped by sunbelt, Mac, and cusa teams. I can not stand the sunshine pumpers they say it isn’t a big deal they must not have payed attention to what has happened to Nebraska.

          • Zack says:

Winning 3 out of 4 titles would help.

          • kokevo says:

Im not arguing but they haven’t won one in 3 years I think.

          • Zack says:

I get what you mean it’s just that Alabama and the sec took advantage of their success. When OU and Texas were on top of the college football world from 2000-2009, they didn’t take advantage.
I think the problem for OU is that the top ranked recruits have been disappointments for us and a new approach to recruiting would be welcomed. This national recruiting for every single position is not the solution imo. I think this year and next year OU needs to take 15-20 in state kids (combined) and maybe more but we won’t.

          • hOUligan says:

I somewhat agree on chasing national recruits who are maybe more ‘polished’ looking. Can’t set a # but would like to try more area kids, whether OK, TX, Arkie, KS…kids who meet the ‘eye test’ like said above and dream of suiting up for OU. Think it’s been a mistake chasing ‘stars’, who might be a little more ‘polished’ but dont have the dedication or heart of kids who dream Boomer Sooner dreams. Obviously there are kids outside of the area, like DeBerry and Gallimore that you target. But that core group.

          • blaster1371 says:

The circular aspect of recruiting and recruit stars is so true. What ever “it” is that Saban looks for he has a pretty dang good eye for it; especially when you factor in how many have left for the NFL draft within three years of being at Alabama.

          • Sooner Ray says:

Is Saban a food critic or did you mean to say “good eye”? 🙂

  • OceanDescender says:

Im getting the sense, just by following recent recruiting, that Coach Cooks is about to make the secondary LOCK DOWN.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

I want a Boom out of one of these guys!!!

  • Stephen says:

According to 247sports OU is ranked 62nd in the nation right now as far as recruiting goes, right behind Florida Atlantic, would be nice to a BOOM in the next couple weeks.

    • Sooner Ray says:

If you’re talking 2016, I think it’s waaaaaay too early to be doing any “ranking”. I want to see the rankings after signing day.

      • Zack says:

Yeah we weren’t even in the top 50 last year prior to Rodney Anderson which was around this time. Still finished top 15. Hopefully stoops has a 2008 type season and maybe these 5 star Kelly’s and others jump on board.

      • BoomerDave says:

It’s almost hilarious ranking this early. Anderson was our 4th commit last year, I believe, and the first that actually stuck. Wariboko, Lampkin and Johnson all de-committed . I don’t take any commitment, other than QB’s, serious until about October. Call me a skeptic.

      • Stephen says:

Not saying there needs to be a panic, but I would hope the staff could pick up the pace if at all possible.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

Isn’t Robert Barnes teammates with Obi Eboh?

  • hOUligan says:

Was hoping Robert, being a ‘legacy kid’, had ‘the right stuff’ to get an OU offer. Remember his dad, Reggie, being a very good player and hoping those genes run true. But time to get some 2016 BOOMs going!!!
